Brad Bergh Engen Group Sponsorship Manager
Message from the Sponsor Engen is proud and excited to bring criterium Cycle race festivals to the streets of South Africa as we continue our support of this dynamic sport. It is our hope that the new Cycle in the City events will draw cyclists of all forms to the city’s streets in celebration of sharing the road in a safe and secure environment.
Cycle in the City is not only for cyclists competing for their own personal goals but also for those on the side-lines, the all-important spectators or supporters. In addition to the on-the-road action we are excited to be incorporating outdoor festival elements into this criterium series, with live music performances, kid’s entertainment, craft beer, artisanal food markets and fun for the whole family.
In true festival spirit the Cycle in the City criterium series boasts a variety of categories for all to participate in, from the “Crazy Cranks” to “Street Kings” for those with more of a competitive spirit.
We would like to relay our heartfelt thanks to all who have chosen to participate, as100% of your Cycle in the City entry fee will be donated to selected local charities for the betterment of children.
We thank you for your support and trust you will enjoy the day with us.

Irene Village Market (PTA market)
Cape Town Food Trucks...
The market, which has received many accolades from the likes of various magazines and newspapers, provides an environment bringing together artists and patrons alike while offering excellent family entertainment and contributing to the rich historic and natural heritage of Irene village. Only original art and craft are traded with exhibitors and their wares undergoing a strict selection process.
With over 30 trucks on our book, Cape Town Food Trucks is all about bringing gourmet food to the best spots in Cape Town. Introducing the worldwide mobile food truck phenomenon to our beautiful city, Cape Town.
Monark (Band Entertainment – All three regions) Monark is a five piece pop band from Gauteng, South Africa. The band was formed when producer Ewald Jansen van Rensburg teamed up with friend and vocalist Eugene Coetzer. For a couple of years they worked towards finding the specific sound they were after. Once they felt they had discovered it, they gathered together the musicians that were needed to grow and perform the music. Their first single “Smiling” was released in May 2013 and immediately gained mainstream attention and popularity on major radio stations throughout South Africa: charting at no.3 on 5fm and currently climbing the Kia Take 40 SA chart (September/October 2013).
Bar di Bar (Craft Beer Supplier CPT) At the moment, it’s the only Craft Beer Truck in South Africa and has made a huge impact on the industry in bringing craft beer to events and markets in a funkier way. The van is a 1975 Classic Kombi converted into a convenient transport and bar combination. Our beer equipment is the latest technology and you don’t need electricity to operate it. We have two draught dispensing units offering four different draught flavours. The machines are cooled by ice on a cooling plate inside each unit, and with the new design these machines can pour the beer at four degrees within fifteen minutes. The custom built bar has been designed to slide easily in and out of the Kombi and the taps fit perfectly into the gaps created for them. The bar is fitted with colour LED lighting for evening events.
