WOMEN OF GOD ARISE ! As a mother, I absolutely loved giving birth to my two sons. Women are

created for birthing — both in the natural and in the spirit. My mother’s heart is bursting with joy right now as we launch this brand new “baby” Arise magazine. Thank you for celebrating this first, historical edition with us. Naming a child is important because the name is a declaration and decree over the child all of its life. The child becomes its name, or perhaps better said, the name defines the child. Names are important in the Bible. When God made significant changes in a person’s life, He often changed their names. For example Jacob, meaning “supplanter,” was changed to Israel, “prince of God.” The angel came to Mary and told her to call her child Jesus, meaning “God is Salvation” (Luke 1:31). I sought the Lord carefully for the name of this magazine and He gave me three clear prophetic directions and confirmations through the Scriptures and one through a song. Isaiah 60:1 “Arise and shine for your light has come…” It’s time for women of God to arise and shine. Many will be commissioned to the frontlines of nations in the seven mountains of influence: Family, religion, government, education, business, media, arts/entertainment. Judges 5:7 “There were few people left in the villages of Israel until Deborah arose as a mother in Israel.” God is calling the “mothers of faith” to arise in this hour and to bring spiritual nurture to many. Luke 8:52-52 “Now they were all weeping and lamenting for her; but He said, ‘Stop weeping, for she has not died, but is asleep.’ And they began laughing at Him, knowing that she had died. He, however, took her by the hand and called, saying, ‘Child Arise!’ And her spirit returned and she got up immediately…” Women who have felt lifeless and spiritually dead will now arise to fulfill their destiny. Song: The Anthem by Jake Hamilton “Wake Up Child, Its your turn to shine. You were born for such a time as this.” As Esther was born in a strategic time to turn the heart of a king to the purposes of God and to rescue an entire nation from destruction, so is God raising up His appointed women in this hour. It’s not that women will be more predominant than men, but they will arise to their God-appointed mandates and callings. Arise magazine for women is a gift of encouragement and empowerment to those who read it and will cause many to arise to their place of influence in life and kingdom ministry. “The Lord gives the command; The women who proclaim the good tidings are a great host.” (Psalm 68:11) Arise!

PERSONAL GROW TH

LIMITLESS POTENTIAL As a little girl, I was inspired

by a young lady who swam the English Channel. Have you ever seen someone do something you admire and found yourself saying “I would love to do that!” Her accomplishments compelled me to want to become an outstanding swimmer. There was only one problem — I didn’t know how to swim at all! Although I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth, my mother agreed, after my persistent pleading, to get me a swimming coach. I want you to think about your own goals and dreams. Henry David Thoreau said, “Do not go where the path may lead, but go where there’s no path and leave a trail.” I agree with him: In order to live your goals and dreams, “go where there’s no path…” If you’re going to live your dream and do something truly meaningful with your life, it’s very important that you make the commitment to win, because you’re going to have challenges that will cause you to want to give up. That's exactly how I felt at my first swimming lesson. I panicked, was scared, swallowed a lot of water, and told my mother, “I don’t ever want to go back.”

Look at your goals and dreams, as well as the commitment you need in order to win when life holds your head underwater. When you commit to stretching yourself beyond your comfort zone, no matter how difficult, you will discover strength in yourself that you never knew was there. You will develop new skill sets that you never thought were possible. That happened to me when I committed to my swim class. Swimming just one style was not enough. I had to learn a variety of ways to develop my body and hone the skills that would prepare me to successfully participate in competitions. God has created limitless potential in you. He has placed dreams in your heart, inspiring you to expand far beyond where you are right now. In Him all things are possible. The dreams He has placed in your heart are not out of reach. Make wise investments in yourself and in your future.

“If you’re going to live your dream and do something truly meaningful with your life, it’s very important that you make the commitment to win.” As a seasoned Transformational Life Coach, I often invite my clients to ask themselves two critical questions: “Who is it that I want to become? What must I do differently that will allow me to be a person of great influence and benefit in the world I live in?” The answers to these questions help pave the way and create a plan for your dreams to be fulfilled. Do you want to get out of a rut and discover your God-given potential? Do you want to grow and develop in vision, character and life skills? Identifying the answers to those questions could revolutionize your life. Take time to invest in yourself and see your dreams realized. EVANGELISM

. Baker, PhD

Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the

kingdom of heaven. The beatitudes are a holy call of God on our lives, to live completely full, in love, and undone. We are called to lives of total, radical love with God and our neighbors. Love evangelism is something everyone can do every day. You are called to minister in action and in truth, to go comfort the broken. When you see someone hurting and broken, God allows you to enter their world. Then you connect with them, you stop for them. Maybe it is your husband, your child, or someone you meet at the store today. Ask God to show you what love looks like. The beatitudes are literally a picture of how Jesus lived on the earth, and you’ve been called to walk in His footsteps. How does your life look as a sent-out lover sharing the gospel? Will you stay poor in spirit? Will you stay desperate for God every day of your life, or will you say I’ve had a drink, that’s enough for me. You come to Jesus poor in spirit and then you go to the one he puts in front of you with the kingdom of God. You go to God crying out that you must have more. Unless He fills us, we can’t carry anything. Unless we are clinging to Jesus, we have no power, kindness, mercy or love. It comes from God. We have a relationship with God where we go to Him every day desperate and poor, but when we step out, we step out as the comforters. We step out with resources, healing, power, we put our hands on the deaf ears and they hear, the blind eyes and they see, or we hug the lonely and the depressed ones and they feel His presence. We become the loving arms of Jesus. Ministry through the lens of the beatitudes. Holy Spirit moving through us. Jesus moving through us, stopping for the one, seeing the one, loving the one. Our weapon of warfare is love. If we let love cover us at all times, then everything changes and shifts.

by Da

Makler0008 / Shutterstock

ive years ago a publishing company asked me

to write a book about women and how God wanted to empower them. I never really wanted to deal with the ‘woman issue’ in the church because I thought it was simply a small, Western problem. As I studied global social justice, God started to reveal to me that the small inequalities that surfaced in the western section of the church were connected to the large root of injustice that was at the heart of nearly every social evil in our day. “The West has its own gender problems. But discrimination in wealthy countries is often a matter of unequal pay or underfunded sports teams or unwanted touching from a boss. In contrast, in much of the world discrimination is lethal… the global statistics on the abuse of girls are numbing. It appears that more girls have been killed in the last fifty years, precisely because they were girls, than men were killed in all the battles of the twentieth century. More girls are killed in this routine ‘gendercide’ in any one decade than people were slaughtered in all the genocides of the twentieth century.” (Half the Sky, Nicholas D. Kristof & Sheryl WuDunn.) I was headed to speak at a church who had oppressive views on the role of women within their leadership structure. I was to speak on justice. There was an obvious connection between justice without and injustice within the church around the area of women. Before I spoke I met with the senior pastor of the congregation — a lovely man of God. In the course of the conversation, we spoke about the awkwardness of their stand on women and my topic. He asked if I could just stick to justice and leave “the women thing out.” Recently a popular church leader preached a sermon series on why women shouldn’t lead. What is going on? Unfortunately, the problem is bigger than a few errant church leaders or a casual misreading of the Scriptures. It’s a deep injustice against women that spans the entire globe. This is a global injustice. Women are the majority of humanity, but are everywhere victims of systematic discrimination, oppression and sexual abuse. In many parts of the

world, women are consigned almost entirely to the home, denied basic democratic and economic rights, forced to carry out unpaid domestic labor and subject to oppression and violence from men. Women and children are the biggest victims of the international sexual terror of the global sex trade — by far. They are the most impoverished and suffer the most at the bottom of the heap in the economic ladder.

More girls have been killed in the last fifty years because they were girls, than men have been killed in all the battles of the twentieth century. In some countries, women bear the double burden of paid work and domestic labor, a life of unending toil. Women workers are often paid less than their male counterparts. In the sweatshops of the Third World, women workers are routinely abused, denied maternity leave and subjected to degrading treatment. Women are constantly being met by demands from society telling them how they should look and act. This pressure makes a lot of women feel bad about not being able to compete with the norm. Many are victims of self destruction, self-starvation and self-cutting. “Amartya Sen, the ebullient Nobel Prize winning economist, has developed a gauge of gender inequality that is a striking reminder of the stakes involved. ‘More that 100 million women are missing,’ Sen wrote in a classic essay in 1990 in The New York Review of Books, spurring a new field of research. Sen noted that in normal circumstances women live longer than men, and so there are more females than males in much of the world. Even poor regions like most of Latin America and much of Africa have more females than males.   CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE

Yet in places where girls have a deeply unequal status, they vanish… the implications Professor Sen found, is that about 107 million females are missing from the globe today.” (Half the Sky, Nicholas D. Kristof & Sheryl WuDunn.) I recently read the story of a woman in my own community. She’s a First Nations (Canadian origin) foster kid who faced an incredibly horrific childhood and endured countless abuses by men who thought it was alright to treat a little girl like trash. She’s been treated like this so often that she almost began to believe she deserves it. The thing that is most frustrating about her story is the amount of times I’ve heard it. I can’t even explain to you how broken hearted I am that little girls are so often exploited and abused, discarded and used — even by the church! I get so disturbed because this is not God’s plan for women. The good news is that the deep heart-cry of the earth, the root of most of the deepest injustices on the earth, is met and answered by God’s original design for the earth. When God made the world, He designed women and men to function together as His image and co-steward the earth. When sin entered the world, it broke that relationship and every relationship since. Jesus came to restore that original purpose and return the rightful empowerment to His people. The restoration of the earth and the original plans of God are inextricably linked to the equality of women. It’s that simple. God’s original plan is the answer to the deepest cries of the earth. The greatest injustices on the earth right now can be answered by the church! This is why women’s empowerment, freedom and equality is one of the most important truths that needs to be understood, taught and celebrated in the church and in the earth today. Let’s join the revolution and allow God’s original purposes for women to stop the injustices of global proportions. JUSTICE CALLS by Faytene Grasseschi

Years ago, the Lord began stamping His heart for justice on mine when, in my prayer times, He would speak the word “justice” to me over and over. At the time, I didn’t understand what justice meant but could sense its importance to God’s heart. This led me to a study, where I soon discovered Psalm 89:14. It declares that righteousness and justice are the foundation of God’s throne. That’s big. Justice is so eminent to God’s way of doing things that He makes His throne out of it. It is the very essence of the place from which He rules. Amazing. Intense. Important. As I sought more understanding, I discovered that the word justice in the Hebrew means, “that which is proper, fitting or having rectitude.” Plainly stated, justice is that which is right. Inversely, this means that injustice is that which is wrong. To fight for justice would mean to fight for that which is right. The act of doing justice is the act of making wrong things right. Is this not the story of the cross? Something that went so wrong in the garden of Eden was made right by the blood of Jesus. There is no doubt about it, our God is a freedom fighter. He is zealous for justice. He spent His Son’s blood to accomplish it. He is justice and it is how He governs. The clincher is that in the post-cross era He has left the administration of this justice to us, His beloved Church. With this revelation, I was starting to understand why God was so persistent in speaking to me about justice. It is our job description! Poverty, corruption, human trafficking, abortion, racial injustice, and the like, are not simply “unfortunate” things in our world that we need to learn to live with. They are wrongs. They are injustices. This means they are our love assignment. To fight for justice is to fight for something core in the heart of God. So core that He gave His best for it. Let’s arise with His love in this hour and do the same. FAYTENE GRASSESCHI is an activist and revivalist with a huge passion to see justice brought to the poor and oppressed. MISSIONS

THE FIELDS ARE WHITE FOR HARVEST by Dr. Claudia Wintoch As a 20-year-old new believer, my heart broken over the countless unreached people in the world who die every day without having heard the gospel, I prayed for God to send me somewhere they had never heard the good news and where nobody wanted to go. He answered my heart’s cry and 10 years later, at age 30, I went to the Muslim nation of Mali — one of the poorest nations of the world. There I was, in a culture full of witchcraft, just a little girl in the hands of her big heavenly Daddy. I had no money and just a few intercessors. But I had a big vision: to see a nation transformed and won for the kingdom of God. After 11 years, I’ve seen this vision slowly becoming reality. Hundreds of people have been saved and physically healed. Churches have been established. Hundreds of children have been fed and have heard the gospel. Widows are being taken care of and street children have a safe place to sleep, eat and learn to read. Twenty of those children have found a home with me. Dozens of children are being fed daily, sent to school, taken care of medically and have met Jesus and made Him their Lord and Savior. They share testimony after testimony of how they used to live on the streets, abused, cold, hungry, abandoned and unloved. Today, they have a Father in heaven and a mom on earth. Today, they

know they are loved. They eat and go to school. They get free from drugs and healed from their past. They get baptized and pray with us for the sick, as we go into the unreached villages. After 11 years, I still hear the cries of the people in the villages who live in fear of the spirits, poverty and death. They are desperate, sick and hopeless — with no one to help them. After 11 years, I still see the faces of those who have not heard the good news, those who are ready to meet their Maker and make Him Lord, those who are just waiting to hear that there is a God who loves them and has paid the price for them. After 11 years, I’m still the only westerner in the ministry I’ve established in Mali. And after 11 years, I’m still storming heaven for laborers to be sent to work with us to bring in this great harvest and establish churches in village after village. It is so easy to win people’s hearts for Jesus here in Mali, as God heals the sick and people receive the One who is stronger than the spirits they live in fear of. Nevertheless, I am stretched to my limits and cannot expand any more. Who will hear God’s call for Mali? “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” (Isaiah 6:8) The harvest is so ripe, but the laborers are few on the frontlines of Mali. Pray about joining me so we can reap the harvest together.

PROPHECY

WOMEN & CHILDREN FIRST by Stacey Campbell

We are living in one of the most incredible hours

in all of church history for women. One of the great things we see happening systemically on the earth is the rise of women leaders. Women are presidents and prime ministers, CEOs and university professors, business tycoons and media moguls. Every sphere of influence in society sees women in top positions. This is also true in the church. A few years ago, I had a strong prophetic word in which the Lord thundered: “Women and children first!” However, the way He spoke it was a play on words. I knew He meant that, rather than being the first to escape crises, God was anointing women and young people to be solution-finders in areas of extreme crisis in the world. It has often been this way. In some of the most extreme hours of biblical history, God chose women to lead nations out of crisis. Think of Miriam, first saving Moses and ultimately leading with him as he led Israel in the exodus from Egypt. Or think of Deborah, chosen by God as both a prophet and a judge in one of the darkest, most difficult periods of the book of Judges — a period spanning almost 400 years.

What about Mary? Called to be the mother of God incarnate, blessed among all women (Luke 1:42), chosen to birth and raise the Savior of the world. Women and children first! God has chosen you, anointed you and called you to lead as the world devolves, in many places, into chaos. As you seek His face regarding the problems around you, God will grant you divine wisdom and revelation, not only to overcome, but to help many others around you to their place of victory. No matter what the crisis in your family, your workplace, your city or your nation, you are anointed and appointed to lead people out of it. Don’t wait for someone else to bring the change. The reason you are feeling such a burden or frustration with the situation is because the Spirit of God is telling you it must be changed! You are being given the leadership to bring that change — if you will accept it. Turn the burden into prayer. Use the frustration to catalyze the solution for change. Start now, with what is in your hand. Little things will turn to bigger things, and bigger things into great things. Women and children first! It is your finest hour.

STACEY CAMPBELL is a prophetic voice to this generation. She has a passion to teach believers to know how to hear the voice of God through proper teaching and strong values. Stacey is founder and facilitator of the Canadian Prophetic Council, and serves as an honorary member of the Apostolic Council of Prophetic Elders. Stacey and her husband, Wesley, are co-founders of RevivalNOW! Ministries, Praying the Bible International, and Be A Hero, a mercy organization dedicated to helping children at risk. revivalnow.com

GOD’S SECRET WEAPON by Dr. Cindy Jacobs

For the past few years, major prophets from around the world have echoed a theme that is an important end-time word: “The Lord gave the word; Great was the company [of women] who proclaimed it [the good news].” (Psalm 68:11) When I was thirty years old, the Lord called me to preach. It was difficult for me to imagine because I didn’t know any women preachers. I struggled to answer, as God prompted me to surrender to a destiny that seemed improbable. During that time, I read a biography of Aimee Semple McPherson, who had, at first, resisted the call of God, but went on to have one of the greatest healing ministries in modern-day history. Upon reading Aimee’s testimony of how firmly God had insisted, I was gripped by the fact that God wasn’t simply suggesting that I follow Him. The Creator of the universe had need for me to follow Him and preach to the nations of the world! (Matthew 10:37-39) Being the stubborn person that I was at that time, I questioned whether He really needed me. After all, there were a lot of men who were more adequate. Quietly, God spoke to my heart, “I need you so that my prophecy will be fulfilled.” “Which one is that?” I shot back. “That in the end times I will pour out My spirit upon my sons and daughters.” (Joel 2:28) He went on to say, “If I am going to pour out My spirit upon the daughters, I need some women — and I choose you.” I had nothing to say in return but, “Yes, Lord, here I am. Use me.” Prior to that defining moment, I had taught children’s church and been a worship leader. Those are high callings, but God wanted something else from me — the nations were calling. From the day I said “yes,” God took it from there. As I write this, I am at 37,000 feet in an airplane on my way to Indonesia to speak to 10,000 people.

“Women leaders are a force that will not be stopped by adversity.” I entitled this article God’s Secret Weapon because I believe the enemy has greatly underestimated us women. Dr. Gary Grieg, a Hebrew scholar, once explained to me that he believes from his studies that the passage I quoted above (Psalm 68:11), is a prophetic, end-time passage that we will see happening on a large scale. God always fulfills His Word, and the promise is that God will raise up a great army (I added “of women” because the passage is written in the feminine in the Hebrew). It is happening now! This female army is growing in numbers at an amazing rate. These women are fighting human trafficking, feeding the poor, starting orphanages and doing mighty signs and wonders. We are seeing the fulfillment before our very eyes. This is it. Women leaders are a force that will not be stopped by adversity — they are God’s secret weapon.

HAVE YOU EVER watched fireflies? These small creatures radiate light in darkness. In fact, that is the only time when you see their light — in the dark of night. Christ-filled believers, like the firefly, can and should shine in the midst of the darkness of this world. Yet many often avoid doing so, fearing contamination and defilement. Others, however, enthusiastically step into the darkness of the world with their focus and goals set on the gold and the glory. Being weak in their faith and moral standards, they end up embracing destructive worldly activities. How do we boldly step into darkness as the light and the influencer, rather than becoming a fallen beacon by being the influenced? There is a way to walk uncompromised in this world —  to be “in the world but not of the world.” Miranda Nelson, an uncompromised shining light, both preaches from the pulpit as an itinerant minister with her husband Jerame and works as a professional model in Hollywood. Some might ask, “How can you do both?” Miranda understands who she is in Christ: a daughter of the King of Glory. She has, through intimacy with the Holy Spirit, cultivated a lifestyle of prayer, purity and power. She refuses to be moved by the world’s standards in the modeling industry, choosing rather to be a pure voice and an uncompromised vessel for Christ to move through in the midst of a contaminated environment.

Miranda hasn’t always been a model. The Lord spoke to her in dreams and confirmed His desire for her to be in the modeling world as one of His influencers. She chose through faith and obedience to walk through doors and step into the industry. When God calls you, He gives grace for it. This young lady courageously models God’s love and righteousness in the midst of an industry filled with vain beauty and competition. As Christians, we are not called to silence and invisibility; rather, we are empowered to manifest the love and truth of God through our lives, actions, and words. Miranda effectively bears the fruit of these actions and attributes. Over the last four years, Miranda has treated every photo shoot and runway contract as an opportunity to release the kingdom of light. She embraces Jesus as her focus and invites the Holy Spirit to give her opportunities to witness and demonstrate His love. This young, faith-filled woman is not afraid to stand up for what she believes. When Miranda was asked in her second interview with her runway coach, “What about lingerie? Will you take those jobs?” she simply replied, “No,” as her coach stood dumbfounded. He explained that she would be turning down the highest paying opportunities. Unmoved by fame and fortune, Miranda told the coach, “Yeah, but I’m not in it for money; I’m in it to be an influencer.” After thinking about her response for a moment, he told Miranda, “Hmm. That’s really cool. I want to influence people, too.” When you stand up for what you believe in, people respect you for it. Her coach respected her for her stand and she has never been short of work.

Miranda has had opportunities to prophesy over makeup artists, interpret dreams for hair stylists, and minister healing miracles to photographers and others on the set. One time, Miranda went to a photo shoot and on arrival discovered that the photographer suffered with muscular dystrophy. His entire right leg was limp and he explained that his muscles were increasingly weakened and in pain every day. She shared hope with him and at the end of the photo shoot, she asked if she could pray. He immediately agreed but feared that it would not work for him. The bold model simply told him that God loved him and that they should just give it a try. After she laid her hand on his shoulder and commanded the muscular dystrophy to leave and his muscles to be rebuilt, the man reacted in ecstatic shock because the pain and weakness had completely left! Miranda watched as he walked across the parking lot without a single limp in his step. This medically “incurable” disease was instantly healed by the love and power of a supernatural God who adores working through His people. The man was so touched that his eyes welled up with tears. The world is hungry for genuine encounters with a God who loves them. On another occasion, Miranda and her husband Jerame prayed at a photo shoot for a makeup art-

ist who had a torn tendon in her shoulder and couldn’t lift her arm. The woman was immediately healed and it opened up the door for Jerame to speak with the photographer on the set about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. As a result, the photographer changed his mindset about God. He had been abused by his pastor uncle and hated God as a result. From that day forth, the man was willing to step foot in the church again and give God another try. The photographer’s change of heart then opened the door for Miranda to also speak with the makeup artist and show her that Christians aren’t all “haters.” The makeup artist, who was not yet saved, had been condemned by Christians in the past, so she had wanted nothing to do with God. After receiving her miracle that day on set, and hearing the message of the love of Christ, she was also ready to reach out to God. Miranda is truly a woman on the frontlines in the arts and entertainment industry. God is calling you too, no matter what field you might be drawn to and no matter what environment you live in. Like Miranda, as you prepare your heart to be a voice and vessel of love, truth and purity for Christ, you too will become a great light in dark places for His glory. Hmm, maybe women on the frontlines are God’s fireflies?

Q  How do you balance running a ministry, business, and being a mom?  — Brandi from Oklahoma City Grace, grace and more grace! I seriously don’t know what I would do without God’s grace. It enables and empowers. When grace is manifesting, everything is easy — it flows. I began ministry when our boys were young. We traveled with them and sometimes had to believe God for nannies to help us. God will meet all your needs. Click here for my special video message about the power of His glorious grace. You might also be interested in downloading my teaching called Amazing Grace. It will release a powerful impartation to you and bring refreshment.

Q  How can I rise above discrimination of women into the fullness of my call and identity, without falling into pride or independence?  — Channa from Germany God does not make mistakes. You can rise to the fullness of your call. Remain humble and believe. I pray that the Lord will make a way for you and others who struggle with situations like this. Click here for a video teaching that might encourage you. I also want to recommend my teaching Women in Christ Arise.

Q  Is there ever a time not to approach someone in need of healing?  — Joelene from Tacoma I remember a situation when the Holy Spirit told me not to pray for a woman who was in a wheelchair, but only to love and comfort her. He revealed that she was feeling condemned for not having enough faith and her hope had been crushed when she did not see immediate answers to prayer. As a result, she had unbelief when people prayed. She needed comfort and love so she could reach out for her healing in time. In that case, I did not pray for healing, but brought encouragement to her heart instead. In most cases, however, if there is a need for healing, I like to offer prayer and ministry. We are commissioned to heal the sick (Matthew 10:8).

Q  I am a Christian mother of a special needs young adult. The church can be a lonely place for special needs individuals and their families. I have tried to start programs at church, to have my child accepted, but have not seen any interest or results. How can we change this?  —  Linda from California Linda, first of all, I am so sorry for your situation. Do not give up. I always say that if you do not quit you win. I have a heart for this particular area. In Cambodia, we have adopted special needs children who are enjoying full, meaningful and socially rich lives. Click here for a video testimony that will bless and encourage you.

Q  As a teen I had friends who were gay/transgendered. What is the biblically right thing to do if someone has had a sex change, but later comes to Christ? Are they to continue to live as someone God did not intend or do they live this new life and stay single?  — Tonya Tonya, this is a difficult question. I led two transgendered individuals to the Lord in Thailand a few years ago. They were weeping as they received Christ. They had never felt such love. Both were born male, but had surgery to become women. The next day they attended church and once again wept because of Christ’s love. They asked me, “What do we do? We have become women.” I did not know how to answer, but the Lord gave me wisdom, “There is no male nor female in Christ,” I explained. “Right now, God just wants you to know how loved you are. Remain sexually pure and enjoy His love. He will lead you day by day.” They fell into my arms and wept some more. “Man looks at the outside, but God looks at the heart.” Every situation needs to be dealt with differently, according to the circumstances, but, generally speaking, I believe it could possibly be wise and righteous for them to remain single. Biblically, marriage is between a man and a woman. The apostle Paul said that “it is good for them [unmarried and widowed] if they remain as I [single]”. (1 Corinthians 7:8)

Can you think back to the last time you felt really good —  I mean really good — as in full of energy, positive attitude and ready for the day? I’d like to share a simple secret with you that many well-respected people throughout history have discovered. It can literally elevate the way you feel physically and emotionally beginning today. It is walking! Our beloved president, Abraham Lincoln, declared that he made some of his most important presidential decisions while walking the hills of Springfield. Moses and Joshua were walkers, too. “So on that day Moses swore to me, ‘The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly.’ ” (Joshua 14:9) God created us to be walkers. Brisk walking is beneficial to every system in your body. It strengthens your cardiovascular system, cleans out your lungs, helps keep your hormones happy and, best of all, while you walk you take in oxygen which makes you feel better emotionally. Modern science has discovered that one of the greatest causes of depression is a lack of oxygen to the brain. By walking, you are proactively supporting your emotions on a daily basis. As a personal health and wellness coach, one of the saddest things I see on a daily basis is the growing percentage of obesity in our youth population. This is tragic! We can change this. And it starts in our own homes with the choices we make. Even if you were raised in a family where your parents made unhealthy lifestyle choices, you can start a new legacy today. God’s design for believers is that we walk in prosperity and health. “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” (3 John 1:2) As a result of daily walking, I feel better today than I did in my 20s, and so can you! God’s design for us is not just longevity, but longevity with vitality.

Teri’s Walking Tips Invest in a good pair of walking shoes that give you support. Talk to your family and friends. See if someone would like to be your walking buddy. (Don’t let this stop you though. Your walking time can be your praying and creative-thinking time). Start with a smaller commitment, such as 20 minutes 3 to 4 times per week. As you get stronger, work your way up to 45 minutes a day, 5 to 6 times per week. Become very aware of how you are walking. By pushing off with your ankles as you step, you get more speed and a good rhythm. Park far away from the store. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Let me know how you’re doing. I would love to hear from you as you get walking!

CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOVE & LIGHT TO INVADE DARKNESS by Patricia King Rawpixel / iStock

The world is plagued with fear and chaos. Lawlessness is increasing, wars and rumors of wars are on the uprise, the divorce rate in many nations is skyrocketing, economic uncertainty plagues the earth and modern day slavery such as sex trafficking is escalating to shocking levels. What can we do to invade such darkness? Government officials laboring in national and international spheres are attempting to find solutions for global unrest, economists are seeking to discover ways to stabilize and accelerate world economy, and social activists and religious organizations are looking for answers that will shift issues of injustice. The efforts have left the implementers frustrated and without quality effect. Does God have an answer? You are His answer! His people have the ability to create solutions and invade the darkness of this hour through our faith-partnership with Jesus. One of the ways we can step into the realm of solution is through the creating of businesses that can change the atmospheres of communities and nations. Jesus said, “I must be about My Father’s business.” (Luke 2:49) I found it interesting that He didn’t say, “I must be about My Father’s ministry.”

God is using the creation of enterprise today to bring light into darkness. I personally do not have a business background. My career was in nursing before I entered a fulltime preaching ministry. However, when I was in my fifties, God started to speak to me about impacting the world through business. He revealed that through creating business, I could affect the culture I lived in for His glory. One of the earlier businesses I started was in partnership with a friend. It’s an online media network called XPmedia.com Inc. It began with a passion to host media content that could potentially fill the world with life-giving faith and godly values. Over two hundred ministries and thousands of videos are currently hosted on the network. It is filling the earth with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord through its reach.

All it took to step into this realm of entrepreneurship was a simple “yes” in response to God’s nudge. Following that nudge, we created a special tool that we could use to bring God’s light into the world’s darkness. It was exciting to see God move through this business model. I proceeded to engage in more business enterprises: a hair salon, a publishing company, a real estate entity, a production company, an executive life-coaching service and a coffee shop. All of these businesses have brought various degrees of encouragement and hope to our community and the nations. And all of them were started in the midst of a national recession. Our city of Maricopa, Arizona, was hit hard in the real estate crash. As a result, there were many residential and business foreclosures. However, hard times can offer great opportunities for God’s

teens were then sold into brothels or shipped in containers to other nations to be sold in sex auctions or illegal adoption agencies. Many times, pedophiles adopted the children. Once these youth are working in the brothels, it is difficult for them to leave. The owners have often paid well for their “merchandise,” and they further hold their property in bondage by charging fees for their bed, food, and chair in the bar. The sex slave often becomes indebted to their owner, and without outside intervention they will never get free. Justice Tourism: Birthing a New Industry Regarding the darkness of it all, the Lord gave me a creative idea on how to invade the darkness. I started an outreach center in Poipet, Cambodia (now moved to Phnom Penh), where we invit-

“ We were sharing the Word of God in the villages, but they needed more than just a good preach.” entrepreneurs. In the midst of lack, we can create abundance. In the midst of darkness, we can create light. One city official asked me, “How can you be starting businesses when so many are failing?” He noticed that all our businesses were making an impact in the community. Encouragement was invading the economic oppression. Kingdom Business for Kingdom Advancement Our ministry serves in the arena of anti-trafficking, working primarily in Thailand and Cambodia with sexually exploited children and young teenage girls and boys. On my first trip into these regions, I was overwhelmed by the darkness. I also discovered that poverty was one of the catalysts fueling this industry. Many parents in this poverty stricken environment could not afford to feed their families. As a result, some became coerced into a deceptive trap when they were offered hope and financial assistance to help their present situation of lack — if they would sell a child or their young teenager to the traffickers. Most of them did not understand what would happen to their children, as they were promised that the children would receive food, clothing, education and a better life. The children and young

ed volunteer workers to come from all over the world to serve the children-at-risk and the nation. We called our outreaches Operation Justice. The main thrust was simply to confront the injustice of child exploitation through the love of God, as we rescued children and teens out of this horrific trap. I discovered that when these volunteers were on the ground laboring, they needed things that tourists would need — things like having their laundry done, a good shoulder or foot massage after working hard all day in the villages, maybe a shampoo or manicure, or items and trinkets to purchase in memory of the trip. We started coining the phrase: Justice Tourism. We were sharing the Word of God in the villages, but they needed more than just a good preach  —  they needed financial and provisional assistance. We did give out food to help them with their immediate need, but it is always better to teach people to fish rather than to simply hand them a fish. The first business we started in that region was with a bag of laundry soap. That bag launched: Purity Laundry Service. I had asked a Cambodian woman if she wanted to start a business and she

excitedly agreed. With the bag of soap, a basin and an order form that I had made for her on the computer, we started the business. The outreach teams that came to serve those who were trapped in the injustice of sex trafficking needed laundry done. The laundry business started to boom, so much so that they went to three employees almost immediately. It was a success, and was used to deliver individuals out of poverty. The next business was King’s Crown Jewelry Company. It began with a bag of beads that someone donated to our ministry. We taught a young devastated couple to make necklaces and bracelets with the beads. They sold them to our “justice tourists” and then bought more beads and supplies with their earnings. Their business became successful and they also hired more workers. Each one, as a result, had finances to live on. The news spread throughout the village. Together with other ministries partnering with us, we also opened a coffee shop, a hair salon and spa, and a shoulder and foot massage business. It was fun to see individuals now able to care for their own families while it also impacted the community. Little businesses launched one at a time were creating hope, light and provision. More individuals became inspired and helped people start gardens, fruit stands, chicken farms and small motorcycle taxi services. God’s entrepreneurs were arising and creating an atmosphere of love and light in the darkness. We have the power to change our world, create light in the midst of darkness and bring order in the midst of chaos. As the redeemed, we have the power to bring others out of the mire and influence entire regions and nations. In this hour. God is raising up His entrepreneurs to bring an end to systemic poverty and to simply and powerfully pour out His goodness and love into regions. Through kingdom business, we have the opportunity to make a difference. God’s entrepreneurs are part of His company of ambassadors of hope. Many of you are being raised up for such a time as this. Don’t despise the days of small beginnings. God will breathe on your love efforts and, as you keep focused on your eternal purpose, you will definitely make an impact that will never be forgotten. You are light in Christ and you shine best in the darkness. May God’s entrepreneurs arise and fill the earth with His purposes and His glory!

PROPHECY

THE FIVE MANTLES OF WOMEN

IN THE BIBLE PRESENT ON EARTH TODAY by Kim Clement Today, Israel is facing one of its most difficult challenges. It isn’t necessarily the threat of hateful and encroaching enemies close by, it’s the rising hatred and lack of support from its allies and a weak leadership response from the United States. Historically, when Israel faced its challenges, God often chose women to stand in the gap. In some cases, He even used their strength to go to war on behalf of men, crushing the heads of enemy kings  —  whether outside Israel or within. At this present time, God has again released the anointings of certain women He chose to include in the Bible. These five anointings are on women now in the kingdom. The anointings and their expressions are evident and will grow stronger in the next two years.

Deborah The warrior princess, Deborah was a prophetess — a speaker of wisdom. She led the outnumbered and badly equipped Israelite troops to a great victory. She chose the most able military general and told him what he must do. (Judges 4 & 5) In a time in which it was improper for a woman to be alone in a house with a man, Deborah sat outside, beneath a palm tree, and judged Israel. After twenty years of oppression, it was she who summoned the military general Barak to take ten

28

thousand soldiers and storm Mount Tabor against their enemy, Sisera. Barak insisted that Deborah go with him. She agreed, but told Barak he would receive no glory. “The Lord will have Sisera fall into the power of a woman.” (Judges 4:9) This prophecy would have dual meaning, for not only would Deborah be remembered as the real leader of this victory, Sisera would literally fall because of a woman.

Jael

Jael was a small, unarmed woman who found a new use for a tent peg. (Judges 5:24-27) The Song of Deborah records, with a certain macabre glee, the way Jael murdered the fearsome enemy general, Sisera. Sisera had been defeated by the Israelites and fled from the battlefield, presumably deserting his army. Exhausted, he took shelter in the tent of Jael. He should have known better. Jael lulled him into a false sense of security, let him fall asleep, then took a tent peg and drove it through the side of his skull. When they heard what happened, the Israelites could not contain themselves. Not only was their enemy dead, but he had been killed by a lone woman — the most undignified death a soldier could have. Sisera’s death, and particularly the manner of it, gave the underdog Israelites a lot of simple joy, rivaling similar stories like Goliath’s death at the hands

of David. Jael was a great heroine of Israel. She finished what Deborah had started.

Rahab Rahab lived in a seedy part of town, up against the outer wall of the city. It was not the most desirable location in ancient real estate, but in this case it turned out to be the right address. She single-handedly saved two of Joshua’s spies by hiding them, lying to the authorities and helping them escape. As shrewd as she was gorgeous, Rahab knew an opportunity when she saw one. “Swear to me by the Lord that since I am showing kindness to you, you will in turn show kindness to my family.” (Joshua 2:12) In case you think that her actions were manipulative, consider how offering assistance to the spies put her own life in peril. Rahab recognized the divine favor that rested upon those men and boldly asked for — and received — what she desired.

Mary Magdalene Poor Mary Magdalene. St. Gregory the Great ruined her reputation, suggesting she was a prostitute. Scholars have since rejected his thesis, and today Mary Magdalene is seen as one of Jesus’ most powerful allies. Sure, He may have had to cast seven demons out of her, or at least heal her of an undisclosed illness, but the grateful woman of means in turn led

His female disciples and offered Jesus financial support. The four gospels record her as following Jesus to the end of His life, while His male disciples scattered. It was Mary who was brave enough to go to the guarded tomb of a convicted felon and chat with angels. And it was she who first encountered the risen Christ. She became the apostle to the apostles, when she ran — not walked — to the men by proclaiming the good news, “I have seen the Lord.” (John 20:18)

Miriam was the woman who saved the baby who would become the deliverer of Israel. The Pharaoh had decreed that all newborn Hebrew boys should be drowned in the river Nile. Miriam’s mother had been hiding Miriam’s infant brother, Moses, for three months. She placed Moses in a waterproof wicker basket and placed it in the Nile, hoping the river would carry her son to safety. Miriam followed at a distance and saw the basket float near Pharaoh’s daughter, who was bathing in the Nile. Pharaoh’s daughter sent one of her servants to fetch the basket from among the reeds and found the baby Moses inside when she opened it. She recognized him as one of the Hebrew babies and felt sympathy for the child. Miriam emerged from her hiding place and offered to find Pharaoh’s daughter a Hebrew woman to nurse the child. The princess agreed and Miriam brought none other than her own mother to care for Moses. “Take

Jael found a new use for a tent peg.

this baby and nurse him for me, and I will pay you,” Pharaoh’s daughter said to Yocheved. (Exodus 2:9) As a result of Miriam’s boldness, Moses was raised by his mother until he was weaned, then adopted by the princess to become a member of the Egyptian royal family. Miriam does not appear again until much later in the Exodus story, when she is re-introduced as a prophetess

in Exodus 15:20. Later, in Numbers 12:2, she reveals that God has spoken to her. Like these five women whose lives and testimonies are recorded in the Scriptures, God today has raised up young and old women to bring salvation to Israel, to His church and to save future leaders and generations. This great company of women is in the earth now. Go Girls!

PROPHECY

by Dr. James W. Goll

Yes, it is a rather intense story, found right in the middle of the pages of the Bible, concerning

Deborah, the deliverer. You can read it in Judges chapter five. But as a male spiritual leader, I have something to say to you mighty women of God. We cannot afford for you to be fearful “little women” in your own eyes. It is time for you to arise. We need you! You must arise like Deborah of old and pick up your warrior’s mantle for such a time as this. Today, across the globe and right in our own backyards, there are enemies on the rampage, tearing society apart at every corner. My late wife, Michal Ann Goll, and I founded the Women on the Frontlines conference movement. In her inaugural book, Women on the Frontlines: A Call to Courage, she issued a clarion call that still needs to be answered today: “ We live in an age that is sorely lacking in heroes. Think about it. Who can we look at today and regard as a hero? Certainly there are some, but they sure are hard to find! Isaiah the prophet said that when a people comes under judgment, God takes away wise leadership from the land — the hero, warrior, judge, prophet, elders and others (see Isaiah 3:1-4). During a time of restoration the Lord restores the land. We are now entering a time of restoration, and the Lord is calling us to be heroes. He is preparing us for a time soon to come when the world will cry out for leaders who are in touch with the heart and the mind of God.” — Michal Ann Goll, Women on the Frontlines, Shippensburg, PA: Destiny Image Publishers, Inc., 1999, 145.

It’s time to arise and carry Deborah’s heart and anointing. But to do so, we must hold close to our heart the teachings of Zechariah 7:9-10, which says, “Thus has the Lord of hosts said, ‘Dispense true justice and practice kindness and compassion each to his brother; and do not oppress the widow or the orphan, the stranger or the poor; and do not devise evil in your hearts against one another.’ ” Who was Deborah anyway? She was a prophetess, a judge, a wife, a warrior and a worshiper of her God and King. Deborah brought healing, deliverance and restoration to her land. She changed the justice system and she brought trade and commerce back to her people. She and Barak joined together in the infamous battle against Sisera, and won! It’s time for men and women to join together and provide real leadership and justice, like Deborah and Barak did. As a male spiritual leader in the global prayer and prophetic movement, I say to you, “Arise!” Come on now. We can do the same today. Change society. Shift the courts. Bring revival and restoration to the land. And always remember, together, in Jesus, men and women make a great team! INFLUENCE

SEEDS OF GOODNESS IN by Shirley Seger

The bible parable of the wheat and the tares in Matthew 13:24-30 has always intrigued me. The story speaks of a field that originally had good seed sown into it, but in the night an enemy came and sowed bad seed into that same field. Jesus explained that the field is the world. The good seed represents God’s kingdom and the bad seed represents the enemy’s kingdom. In the natural, wheat and tares look almost identical as they grow — until the time of harvest, when their natures become apparent. The head of the mature wheat turns golden brown and bows in the light of the sun, but the head of the tare turns dark and stands as a proud conqueror. The enemy’s strategy to fill the field of the world with corrupt seed is ever so apparent in today’s media, where there is a constant flood of alternative ideals being presented as good and normal ways to live. Add to this a concerted effort to promote good as evil and evil as good and we have a great challenge to overcome. Proximity, time and familiarity with deception can even desensitize and diminish our own discernment of what’s right and wrong. As the ancient Roman statesman, scholar, orator and writer, Cicero (106 - 43 BC), so aptly stated prior to the final fall of Rome, “If we are forced, at every hour, to watch or listen to horrible events, this constant stream of ghastly impressions will deprive even the most delicate among us of all respect for humanity.” Through constant repetition over a long period of time, some no longer blush or find violence and immoral standards disturbing. Nor do many take a clear and visible stand for righteousness, due to fear of persecution.

Calling All Godly Role Models Humanity needs godly role models to demonstrate the way, not just preach it. In this hour, we are invited to take a stand for God’s ideals, values and His Word — without fear, caution or apology. We are to model a fearless and courageous stand of love, grace and truth in the midst of the deceptive, manipulative propaganda of the enemy. It is time to rise up in the darkness of the hour and offer a God-infused, revolutionary, life-giving solution and alternative. Godly role models (wheat) are needed in this hour. Feast on the Right Fruit Living and working in Hollywood years ago, I feasted on the world’s bad seeds of immorality and deception until its fruit bloomed and filled my heart with life-threatening, destiny-destroying thorns. I had bought into the lie hook, worm and sinker. This bitter life-lesson ignited within me an insatiable appetite for truth in its deepest, purest form. My quest for wisdom and answers to life’s most burning questions led me to feast on the fruit of God’s good seeds. I discovered an online video by Viktor Frankl on the meaning of life, which illustrates so well our need for godly mentors to point the way. Viktor Frankl had taken up flying lessons in his 70s. Using the example of a pilot’s method of “crabbing the wind” to navigate a course in heavy wind, he explained that if you are flying west to east in a left crosswind, you must steer to the north of your waypoint or you’ll drift off course and miss the target.

FIELDS OF DARKNESS Likewise, when using a target rifle for longrange shooting, one must hold an adequate distance above the target to allow for the arc of the bullet drop. By aiming higher, you’ll end up hitting the target. But if you do not aim above your path, the bullet will fall short. Aiming High Media is the most powerful vehicle in the world today to mold mindsets. The “seed” that controls the media mountain dominates the society it feeds. This mountain of influence must be possessed and occupied by the godly in order to restore moral clarity and pure faith. In a natural war, the nation who occupies the airspace wins the war. They have the greater advantage. Jesus left us on top of the mountain and told us to occupy until He returns. Forfeiting our Christ-appointed dominion on the media mountain of influence has and will bear great consequence. The enemy has attempted with a vengeance to overtake the media mountain. Movies, television and new media are flooded with corrupt seeds of immorality, sensuality, pornography, abortion, materialism, humanism, greed, hatred, pride and corruption of every kind. Godly values are constantly being challenged and mocked. Christian filmmakers, television producers, songwriters, artists, authors, and even those individuals who post inspired messages on social media are rising up as a mighty army. They are bold in love and righteousness, and

Ecco / Shutterstock

are displacing the corruption in their spheres of influence — not by power nor by might but by the Spirit of God. They are aiming high. Imagine if we all took an uncompromised stand as one in Christ! God’s Promise In the parable of the wheat and the tares, Jesus taught His disciples not to attempt to pull the tares out, lest they uproot the wheat along with them. He instructed, “Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers [angels], ‘First gather up the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them up; but gather the wheat into my barn.’ ” (Matthew 13:29-30) In the midst of this counterfeit uprising, remember that the enemy’s best is only a field of tares that will be uprooted and destroyed forever. God has fully equipped His Body with all that we need to possess and occupy the media mountain of influence. He has prepared vessels of excellence and sown them as good seed into the field of media — and that precious seed is maturing beautifully in this very hour. The media army is arising. Yes, we have a sure word from the Lord that corruption in media will be burned up and destroyed forever, displaced by His pure communication and values. The victory is promised to all of you who minister in media. You all can make a difference to some degree! You are His good seeds, planted in a strategic field in this hour for His glory. In Jesus’ name, I bless all who are spreading your godly, uncompromised, loving influence through media! May the nations be blessed mightily in Christ, through you. Arise! SHIRLEY J. SEGER is a media apostle whom God has raised up to forge trails as a pioneer in this realm. She is co-founder, president and CEO of XP Media and Doxa 512 Media Productions. COVER

In the beginning, God created both men

and women to be on the frontlines of ruling and reigning over the earth and everything in it. Together they were blessed with fruitfulness and multiplication, and they stewarded the earth as they walked and talked with God in daily communion and fellowship. “God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. God blessed them; and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.’ ” (Genesis 1:27-28) Due to the fall, the dominion was given to the enemy and the consequence of that fatal error affected the destiny of both men and women until Christ came to redeem us. Now, in Christ, we have all been restored to our original position, and even better! Jesus said, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

Today the body of Christ, (including both male and female), will go into all the nations making disciples, teaching and performing the works of the kingdom of God. We are not preaching the gospel of the local church (although I am a total cheerleader for the local church and believe we should all be connected and faithful to one), but we are commissioned to preach the gospel of the kingdom of God in every sector of society. “And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.” (Matthew 10:7-8) We, the body of Christ, are to possess and occupy the seven mountains of influence (family, religion, government, education, business, media, arts/entertainment) so the whole world will be reached with the love and truth of Jesus Christ. In this very hour, we see women rising to the frontlines of these strategic spheres of influence, and they are making great impact! Justice mandates that invade horrific areas of darkness, such as human trafficking (sex, labor, harvesting of organs, etc.), abortion, and poverty, are being effectively trumpeted and implemented by powerful uncompromised

Women of God are truly arising. Fresh anointing is being poured out on them. I see prophetically, a great company of women proclaiming the good tidings (Psalm 68:11). These women are pure in heart, humble and yet so powerful in God’s grace and truth. They are filled with faith and tenacity. They execute the anointing that breaks yokes of bondage over individuals, regions and nations. They are the Deborahs, Esthers and Marys of today — fearlessly

SPECIAL REPORT

by Patricia King

Women on the Frontlines Gather Together In 1997, James and Michal Ann Goll founded and launched Women on the Frontlines conferences in order to call women of God into their places in the body of Christ. After Michal Ann’s departure to glory in 2008, James Goll asked me to host the events on their behalf, and in March 2014, he gave the apostolic leadership to me. I humbly accepted and am happy to serve this very precious vision. Women on the Frontlines conferences gather women from every stream to worship, fellowship and receive teaching, impartation, miracles and empowerment from the presence of God. These dynamic events carry a prophetic and apostolic flavor, encouraging women to engage in radical commitment, character and service in the kingdom, embracing all seven mountains of influence (family, religion, government, education, business, media, arts/entertainment). Women who attend Women on the Frontlines conferences are called to walk in acts of love and power in Jesus’ name — releasing the glory of His grace and presence in the earth. Many men also love attending these events. Through Women on the Frontlines events, we are seeing women rise up more than ever into their God-given destiny calls. And we haven’t begun to see the fullness of what God is going to do. Women on the Frontlines conferences are quickly becoming a movement, as hosts spring up all over the world. Training events to equip women and missions opportunities are also a big part of this movement of women. SUGGESTED RESOURCE Download Women in Christ Arise (It’s amazing teaching!)

RECLAIMING

OUR FAMILIES by Janet Mills

Family is one of god’s most precious and fragile creations.

God created family to worship Him and to flow together in unity as an earthly expression of the divine order in heaven. He designed the family to experience and reproduce this kind of loving pattern throughout all generations (Gen. 1:28). Yet, throughout history, the enemy has tried to steal, kill and destroy. The family is one of the most suffering institutions in the earth, not only in the secular world but also within the body of Christ. The enemy has wanted us to believe the lie that a “dysfunctional family” is a normal family, or even worse — trendy. We need to arise in this hour and stand strong to redeem our families from the pursuit of the evil one. We need to diligently protect this most precious gift God has entrusted us with. Family is extremely important to God and it should be of the highest priority to each one of us.

FOR GOD’S GLORY Even as I write this today, I am surrounded by moving boxes and misplaced furniture in a beautiful home that the Lord has provided. I am yearning for a massage from all the moving, packing, loading, unloading, unpacking and hours spent driving across the country. I have felt very uncomfortable at times, but my eyes were set on the goal ahead. Chaos and dysfunction is not my goal. I cannot allow my current circumstance to cloud my vision of what God intends. He gave us a brand new home to be a place for His peace, rest and healing, as well as a home of hospitality. That is my goal. I need to focus on it. Whatever you pursue, you will discover more fully. My family is my goal! For quite a few years we have lived apart from our extended family. Lately, we have felt very strongly that it was time to move closer to the ones we love.

Liberty and Lincoln.

“... the family of the godly stands firm.”

Proverbs 12:7

We desire for our children to grow in their relationships with their grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. We’ve learned that there’s nobody on earth like family. If you are a mom, God has given you your children as gifts — consider them and tell them often how much you love them. Let God give you strategy for your family. Our family is our ministry and together with my husband, Joshua, and our two children, Lincoln and Liberty, we have experienced many wonders of God as we have served Him together. We’ve traveled the nations as a family spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. It’s always touched the hearts of people worldwide to see the four of us ministering alongside each other.

The greatest key we have discovered for nurturing our family relationships is to love, honor and respect one another. It is essential to prefer and value one another and verbalize thanksgiving and gratitude for each one. Also, we’re learning how to have fun together and enjoy the individual uniqueness that each of us carries. God created family. Not only is it worth protecting, but it’s worth pursuing — for His Glory. JANET MILLS is a dedicated minister of the gospel. Her passion is to see the glory of God encompass and transform families around the world. Her best-selling CD and book Childbirth in the Glory has been distributed globally, with many miracle testimonies being reported as a result of people capturing the simple yet profound revelation that Janet carries. joshuamills.com

ON THE HOME FRONT

HOMEMAKERS FOR JESUS by Kylie Williams As a little girl, all I dreamed about was one day

being a wife and mommy. Who would I marry? How many kids would we have? What would life be like, and where would life take us? My husband, Jonathan, and I celebrate nine years of marriage this year. We have four beautiful children: David, 7; Judah, 4; Hannah, 3; and Zoe, 8 months. If you are a young mom, you probably understand why I cringe sometimes when people say, “You have your hands full.” My internal response is usually, “Yes. Thank you, I know that. Can I borrow one of yours?” There are days when I think back to my life before I was aware of my ministry as a homemaker. I was in Youth With A Mission (YWAM) and had a passion to see the arts redeemed for Christ. I was walking out that calling, and I still do. But the Lord has revealed that my primary destiny purpose is to support and love my husband — to run alongside him in his pursuit of God for our family. That is my greatest personal aim and desire. I believe that together, my husband and I will leave an example of godliness for our children. There are definitely ups and downs, joys and challenges, to training up godly children while supporting a husband’s calling. To walk this out, I need to tap into the grace of God every day. Recently, I was comparing myself to the many other godly women who are making an impact for the kingdom. I see them out and about in full-time ministry, and here I am at home in “toddler land,” wiping down the table and wiping little bottoms while my husband goes off to work for the Lord. I began to ask myself, “Is this really what I dreamed about? There must be more out there for me.” I am so thankful that God reminded me that honoring, loving, supporting my husband and taking care of

our little ones (as I shape them into God-chasers) is my primary and holy calling. It is a dream I never want to end! Ladies, if you are married, I encourage you to honor and love your husband. It will bring God’s favor on your marriage and home. And if you are a single mom, I take my hat off to you and cheer you on! You receive a double reward and blessing. Your children will be mighty in the earth. They are worth pouring into. Jesus will be a husband to you and a father to your children — and He is the best! The frontlines of God’s work aren’t limited to being a mega-church pastor or in a full-time ministry position. The frontlines include us stayat-home moms. Our homes are places of shelter where God’s peace and presence abide — havens of rest, nourishment and precious memories for the next generation. If you are a stay-at-home mom, you’re in a very powerful place of influence. Your influence is not only to your own children, but also to the parents you meet at school, people in the grocery store and others, wherever your day takes you. Know that it is an act of worship to take care of your children and home. By stewarding what God has entrusted to you, you are ministering and releasing a sweet fragrance unto the Lord.

KYLIE WILLIAMS is a wife, mother, dance teacher and home businesswoman. Actively involved in her community, Kylie’s deepest passion is to see families restored in unity and standing strong on the foundation of Christ.

POWERFUL CYBER-MINISTRY by Crysty Harper Fiorello

Twin Design / Shutterstock

As i grew in christ, I had big dreams about engaging in ministry to the nations. I had been to Bible school and even served full time in a revival ministry with my husband. I wanted to be a voice that would affect change and promote justice. Then I had a baby… and another… and yet another. Motherhood hit me like a ton of bricks. My desire to be a voice for God to the nations seemed to get drowned out by crying babies. Then, somewhere between diaper changes and latenight feedings, I discovered a way to share truth with a limitless audience. Social media gave me a voice to the nations from my own living room. It enabled me to be a light to the world while fully engaging in my God-given gift and ministry of motherhood. Through social media, I have been able to present Bible truths and testimonies, even personal tragedies, to minister to the masses. In addition to our three beautiful children, my husband and I also suffered the loss of another child — she was stillborn. In my grief, I shared the story on Facebook, posting pictures of my daughter’s little hands and feet. The post was shared, re-shared, and seen by thousands of people, many of whom I have never met. Several women contacted me with similar stories of loss. Sharing my pain with the world somehow helped facilitate healing for them and it gave me opportunity to reach out to them. I’ve had similar responses to many other things I’ve shared online. I’ve seen the amazing fruit the gospel

can bear in cyberspace. For someone who isn’t in platform ministry, I get contacted by people I’ve never met from all over the world who tell me they were touched by my post, my blog, a song I wrote, or my story of loss. With over a billion people on Facebook (which is only one of the many social media platforms available), it is easier than ever to share your thoughts, tell stories and interact with people who live far away. Every hour, three million links are shared and nine million messages are sent on Facebook alone. What a great opportunity to share the truth of the gospel with this technology-driven generation. The platform we have every time we post, blog or tweet is powerful. Rather than using it for empty diversion, view yourself as an online light. Be intentional and consistent in showing love and speaking truth. Someone out there needs to hear your story — your heart. Be God’s voice in the cyber-world. Bring healing. Share Jesus.

CRYSTY HARPER FIORELLO is a mother to three beautiful children. Along with her role of motherhood, she loves to create in the form of writing, music, photography and graphic design. Crysty uses social media to reach the world with the gospel.

PROVISION

by Patricia King Jesus came so that we might have life in abun-

dance, and God promises to rebuke the devourer on our behalf. Yet, there are still so many believers who are living in lack and seeing the enemy steal from them in key areas of their life. Well no more! It is time to leave lack behind and step into the realm of glorious and abundant provision. A number of years ago, as young Christians, the Lord called my husband and I to the mission field, inviting us to live by faith — with no visible means of support! We were excited for the opportunity, as we had heard missionaries share dramatic testimonies of God miraculously providing for them. We assumed that our lives would be filled with similar miracles. What a shock to discover that the miracles did not just seemingly fall out of the sky. We believed and yet did not see much in the area of the miracles we were desperate for. The Lord instructed us to not tell anyone of our personal needs. We were to go only to Him in this season of learning and testing. I wish I could report that this “season” was easy and short-lived, but it was probably one of the most difficult and challenging seasons of our Christian walk. Still, we remained committed to only believing the promises of God. We refused to be shaken by our glaring circumstances that seemed to always contradict the Word. There were difficult days for sure, but we knew that God promised abundance, so we were not going to buy into the lies that tempted us. We stood on His promises and the day finally came when we experienced our breakthrough. It came as a “suddenly.” In a moment of time everything shifted. We have lived in that breakthrough for over 30 years now. When your breakthrough comes, you can live in that realm of abundance for the rest of your life and leave lack behind. That realm of abundance has your name on it. Be encouraged, your “suddenly” is coming.

Here are some nuggets that I learned during that season that I desire to pass on to you:

discover God’s promises for your provision

and commit to believing them. Meditate on them day and night. His Word is trustworthy.

invite the Holy Spirit to convict you of any area

of your life where you have not been a wise steward of your provision. Ask for His forgiveness and then follow His ways.

cast down a mindset of lack. Do not “own” lack

or poverty or identify with them. You are a child of the King and your portion is abundance.

believe and decree the Word of God and resist doubt and unbelief. give God the first and the best (the tithe). sow with faith and intentionality. Oftentimes,

when an individual suffers lack, another demon grips them: a withholding spirit. This spirit feeds off fear and it is deadly. Always look for ways to give, even in the most difficult situations. And when you sow, believe that you will reap.

associate with people who live in their breakthrough and who have faith for yours. fill yourself with teaching by inspired speak-

ers and authors who carry authority in the area of supernatural provision. They will not only offer insight and revelation but impartation.

I have some resources on the next page that will help you tremendously and give you more in-depth instruction and impartation. You can say goodbye to lack and welcome a life that is filled with abundance. You serve the God of more than enough. Put your stake in the ground today and say, “No more lack!” Declare your own personal attack on lack. You will soon be on the frontlines of financial victory and breakthrough.

MISSIONS

DO NOT BE SILENT

by Andrea Aasen

Children are the most at-risk people group in the world. I believe God has given women a special role to nurture and protect life. And He is EVERY YEAR raising up a great company of women who will not be silent, but will defend children around the world. About three years ago I moved to Cambodia, in an effort to do children are trafficked my part to protect children at risk. At that time, I was not an expert on human trafficking. I had never worked as a missionary and I had no background in social work or international affairs. All I had was my “yes” to God and a love for His people, but children are forced to work as slaves God, in His greatness, has used my little and multiplied it. Today, our team is working to protect at-risk and trafficked Cambodian children through preventative, rescue and aftercare children die from hunger efforts. The children we are assisting live in extreme poverty and often work on the streets begging, rummaging through garbage, collecting recyclables, or selling their bodies for sex and pornography. babies are aborted Many of the parents are dependent on their children’s income and will severely punish the children if they cannot provide. In other cases, families sell their kids as a means of survival. Some are sold to traffickers for as little as a hundred dollars, others for a higher price, according to their beauty or virginity. Most of these children will live the rest of their lives as slaves — unless someone intervenes. But there is hope. God is bringing restoration. We are seeing children rescued and protected from trafficking, abortion and poverty. Children are being restored and walking in their call and destiny. You might be asking, “What can I do?” Here are some ways you can be effective on the frontlines of this critical issue:

Pray  Your prayers are so important, and you would be amazed at the instant breakthroughs we often experience following focused prayer.   Give  Every dollar donated helps give a child a breakthrough in life. You might not have very much, but when combined with other gifts, your donation accomplishes significant things.   Go  Please consider joining us for an outreach school in Cambodia. We are also open to facilitating custom-made times just for you, if you cannot attend a scheduled outreach school.   Be a voice  These children do not have a voice to call for help or to share their stories. You can tell their stories to your friends or post testimonies and prayer requests on social media. Awareness is important. Also, consider hosting a Be a Voice gala event, outdoor barbecue or party with friends. We have packets of information to help you host a successful and fruitful event. Together, we can do great things. Together, we can make an impact. Together, we can abolish modern day slavery in our lifetime. Let’s do it! HEALING MINISTRY IS ALIVE & WELL by Joan Hunter

Supernatural healing is available to all God’s

children through Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. My parents, Charles and Frances Hunter, grabbed onto the healing message many years ago, paving the way for my current ministry. Even though my parents have departed to glory, I continue to receive testimonies of miraculous healings that occurred during their years of ministry — new hearts, cancerous tumors disappeared, the ability to walk restored and many other examples of God’s miracle working power. What a legacy. I watched. I learned. I followed. Now, I am privileged to teach others to do the same. Miraculous healings are taking place around the world through God’s people who believe that His power is for today. As I travel, I witness healings on a daily basis. Whether in a meeting of thousands or in one-on-one ministry, the power to heal is active and ready to be poured out to the sick and hurting. People are experiencing the supernatural healing power of God’s grace, mercy and love. His healing power is driving illness and disease from them, so that there is no denying God’s existence. What a powerful witness to His love, when pain disappears, the blind see, the deaf hear and the lame walk! We receive testimonies regularly, confirmed by doctors’ reports. Miracle babies are born to women who had been told they would never conceive. Diseases of the mind and body disappear. People are healed inside and out as God’s supernatural power flows through them.

The healing power of Jesus Christ is spreading like never before. Through my 40-plus years of ministry, the stream of healings has definitely increased. God is so awesome! I pray for countless thousands, while my team prays for thousands more. Prayer lines are busy as we minister to the sick and document testimonies that encourage the faith to keep the healing message flowing. With Internet access today, people in many nations can watch, learn and receive God’s touch. Whether in person during a powerful move of the Holy Spirit, or while watching by television or online, God shows up to touch the sick and hurting. What do you need today? Plug into what God wants to do for you. He will minister healing to you and He will also empower you to minister healing to others.

JOAN HUNTER travels the world laying hands on the sick and seeing them recover. She also encourages people not to give up on their dreams and visions, but to fulfill the destiny God has for them. Joan is the author of several books, including Healing The Whole Man Handbook, Power to Heal, Healing the Heart and Miracle Maintenance. joanhunter.org

CHILDREN ON THE FRONTLINES

IS THERE NOT A CAUSE? by Carol Koch

I have been leading a children’s prayer group, ages 4-12, for over 15 years. During that time, I have discovered that people love a cause, regardless of their age. With this in mind, our prayer group had progressed to the point that it was time to go outside the walls of the church. I am friends with the director of a pro-life women’s clinic in our city, so I shared with her the vision of training children to pray. She agreed to let us pray after hours in the clinic’s waiting room. The children were so excited and the outreach quickly became their favorite prayer night. The clinic is located next door to a Planned Parenthood office, with only a wall separating the two waiting rooms. The children would put their hands on that wall and pray for life. It became known to them as the wailing wall. The motto of the pro-life clinic is: Win them by love. And that was our approach. One particular night, during the children’s prayer meeting, a young girl with her boyfriend came in thinking the clinic was open. I shared with them encouragement and invited them to return the next day during office hours. All the kids sat praying quietly with smiles on their faces. Innocence, purity and love radiated from them. When the couple left, we prayed specifically for them. We believed that by their “accidentally” walking into the clinic, the couple’s unborn baby would come to full term and fulfill its destiny. Many lives have been changed and rescued as a result of the children’s prayers. Children are one of the most untapped prayer resources in the church today. Their prayers make a difference! CAROL KOCH is the director for Children on the Frontline. She co-pastors Christ Triumphant Church in Lee’s Summit, Missouri with her husband Alan, with whom she has been in ministry for over 30 years. Her ministry passions are to see women released into the fullness of God and to encourage and train children in prophetic intercession. christtriumphant.org

Rona Spiropoulos

Despite believing that supernatural experiences had ceased with the early Church, Stacey Campbell found herself shaking, bouncing, speaking in tongues and giving prophetic utterance. The desire to understand this unasked-for experience led the respected leader and teacher, to explore this remarkable gift in which the Holy Spirit takes over a person body, soul, and spirit. In this powerful, practical book, she offers biblical, historical, and modern-day examples, warns us about deception, and explains how to grow in this gifting.

Before her departure to glory, the renowned Dr. Gwen Shaw wrote, “This is the most powerful book on the precious blood of Jesus that I have ever read. I have taught on this subject for decades in the nations of the world, but, never have I had the revelations that were given to this young Greek girl when she had a face-to-face encounter with the powerful blood of Jesus in a supernatural visitation many years ago. It is the supernatural divine blood that opens the door for us to enter into the supernatural.”

This book is a collection of true stories of extreme suffering and extravagant redemption in human trafficking and social injustice. Each story proves that there is nothing impossible for God. There is no pit too deep, no darkness too bleak, and no circumstance too hopeless for God to invade and forever change.

Today, XPmedia.com hosts hundreds of credible ministries with thousands of powerful messages, testimonies, prophecies and life-giving teachings that enrich, edify, build up and encourage. The network broadcasts 24/7 in nearly every nation in the world, reaching into some of the most remote and isolated parts of the globe. XPmedia.com pervades the airwaves, clouds and mobile devices through its global distribution. By harnessing the power of social media, blogging, and commenting, we meet the spiritually hungry where they are, with what they are looking for.

XPmedia.com nurtures workflows that assist and guide viewers to discover answers to their questions and solutions to their problems. We love creating relationship and trust with our viewers. We are honored to establish and introduce our ministries and channel hosts as trusted experts in their field. It is rewarding to hear the testimonies of people who have been transformed by a video they “happened upon” while cruising the Internet searching answers to life’s most burning questions. I invite you to explore XPmedia.com for the spiritual banquet as you go deeper in your spiritual pursuit. Your subscription helps support the network’s expenses while spreading God’s good news to millions of hungry hearts across the globe. This network was built for you and others like you. It is my privilege to serve these life-giving messages. As Patricia King, my friend and colleague, always says, “God loves you with an everlasting love.” So do we. Be blessed.

WORSHIP

by Julie Meyer One morning as I read through the

Nancy Bauer / Shutterstock

gospel of Luke, I began to ponder this passage from chapter two. “And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them… Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God…” (Luke 2:8,13) Who would have thought that lowly shepherds would be chosen to hear the heavenly song? Only once in all of history did the angelic host burst out of heaven to proclaim the birth of Christ. And this announcement was given to mere shepherds. What drew the gaze of our heavenly Father to these shepherds tending their flocks? What made Him look down from heaven and say “Right here. This is the place I want the song. Do you see the shepherds? I want you to sing the song right here. They get the first invite to the manger.” What was in the heart of our God when He chose that spot in the fields for the unveiling of His glad tidings? These shepherds were simply living their tiny lives before the eyes of One. In the middle of the mundane, tending sheep  —  the lowest of occupations — they were chosen. In a time of history when greatness and power were shown by stature and position, Jesus chose lowly shepherds.

ho would have thought that lowly shepherds Guarding their flock by night Oh, that they would be caught in the gaze of heaven Chosen to hear the song of praise the angels sang Isn’t it just like Jesus to perfectly choose the insignificant things of the earth to reveal His glory, to show His kindness, to reveal His perfect love? We find in Scripture from Genesis to Revelation that the eyes of the Lord are in every place. He is tenderly watching, ever gazing, choosing to reveal Himself to man. No matter the social class, no matter where one should find himself on the ladder of success, Jesus, in His kindness, looks at the heart. He looks at the humble. He is near to the broken. All of the choices we make for God when no one is around — He is watching. We are ever in His gaze. Every time we say “yes” when no one is around , God is there — and God hears. This is the beauty of our Savior. This is why we adore Him. Oh, how He perfectly loves. How He perfectly unveils His kindness to all mankind. His love is not based on titles, talent, positions or power. He loves because He loves. From the smallest to the greatest and from the popular to the hidden, He chooses because His eyes see the unseen. Oh, what a Savior! PROPHECY

by Dr. Pat Francis

God has made a bold declaration with an oath, “but truly, as I live, all the earth shall be filled

with the glory of the Lord.” (Numbers 14:21) This great mandate shall be accomplished in and through believers in Jesus Christ in this season of “restoration of chayil glory.” Chayil is a Hebrew word with powerful meanings. It is found in 243 references in the Bible. It describes the great glory of David: “Through the victories you gave, his glory is great; you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty.” (Psalm 21:5) Chayil glory is the manifested great glory of David fulfilled to its ultimate glory and influence through Jesus Christ. Chayil glory is your glorious inheritance in Christ. “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:27) With the greatness of the word chayil and its many meanings, we have developed seven pillars that include its meanings (in a grouping format), for prayer, faith and activation for manifestation. The seven pillars of chayil glory are: worship, wisdom, power, honor, favor, wealth, influence. Through you, God’s glory shall be seen to bring glory to His Name. “The glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” (Isaiah 40:5) El chayil is Lord of manifested glory. As darkness invades the earth with violence, corruption, poverty and fear, God’s glory shall rise upon you. Your preparation: “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.” (Isaiah 60:1) Knowledge precedes manifestation. “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” (Habakkuk 2:14) Get ready and prepare your heart for floods of chayil glory in and through you, resulting in massive revivals and harvest of souls, territories, resources and kingdoms. In my book, Restoration of Chayil Glory, you will be trained and activated for manifested chayil glory in all areas of your life. Restoration of chayil glory will activate you for God’s manifested chayil glory for greater worship, wisdom, power, honor, favor, wealth and influence.

by Nellie Elaine Were you born in the 1960s or before? This word

is for you: God is breathing into you a reactivation of dreams to fulfill for Him. As you embark on this journey, do not despise the days of small beginnings. Each small step you take is a platform to a new step; each small step takes you closer to fulfilling those things God wants to do in and through you. He loves you and wants to give you the desires of your heart. There is a generation (born in the 1960s or before) lying dormant and God is mightily breathing into the bones of that generation at this time.

and for the Lord. Small beginnings lead to big finishes. You will look back and see that you made a glorious difference in this world. A while ago, I made a quality decision to come into alignment with prophetic words that declared that I would teach, preach and prophesy. I took intentional steps of faith to prepare for the fulfillment of those words. In my fifties, I went to Bible school, served a minister so that he could fulfill his vision and mandate, and walked through small doors of opportunity.

“God gave me a dream for my life in my early fifties that I cannot shake. It is a dream that He will bring to pass.” In April 2014, the Lord gave me a prophetic word for this generation. Here is an excerpt of what the Lord revealed: * “There are those whose dreams have died, or been lulled to sleep because of age. If you accept such confining words as ‘retirement,’ ‘gearing down,’ ‘you’ve lived your life,’ you will be hindered from stepping into what God has destined for your life in this stage. Your dreams can and will be fulfilled. Start taking those small steps, no matter how old you think you are. We are in a day and time of acceleration, so embrace those small beginnings and watch everything transform around you.” God gave me a dream for my life in my early fifties that I cannot shake. It is a dream that He will bring to pass. I am looking forward to my sixties and all that God has for me because I am stewarding this dream and am embracing the small beginnings. Despise not your small beginnings. God wants to see you finish well, and I prophesy that you will. There is still much for you to do and experience in

One small door opened another and yet another. I have watched the prophetic words unfold in fulfillment. God is raising you up, and you are standing at the doorway of your finest hour and season in life. Heaven and earth are colliding in this hour; you will see heaven invade your life like never before. Embrace those first steps today and despise not the day of small beginnings. You are part of the Joshua generation. After waiting forty years, Joshua went in faith and took the land. You will too, because in your days of small beginnings you learned to overcome the giants.

PROFILE

by Dave Alley

Upon meeting katie souza, many things come to mind. She is high-energy, with an unmistakable intensity. She has a hearty laugh and a mischievous grin. At times, she appears to be entertaining an intriguing thought while debating whether or not to share it. Whether she does or doesn’t, you’re probably glad. Katie is an author, pastor, evangelist, television personality, CEO, disciple, teacher and wife. She is also an ex-felon. “Yes,” she admits, “I was a career criminal. I was really good at it, too, although not quite good enough to avoid being caught in the end.” In the criminal world, one thing always leads to another. During the 1980s, Katie worked as a model and an actress in Hollywood. That’s when she began using drugs. Soon she was supplying her friends and eventually she began to cook and distribute meth. She made a lot of money, which she squandered on more drugs and gambling. “There was a lot of pressure for money. Cooking meth creates a constant need for chemicals to batch. Plus, many people owed me money from

the drugs I sold them. So, one day I acquired a handgun and went collecting,” she says. Looking at her diminutive frame, all 123 lbs., it’s difficult to imagine Katie as much of a threat. “What I lacked in size, I compensated with rage,” she explains. “People don’t mess with crazy.” Collecting drug debts led her to many hazardous encounters. “A guy owed my friend for some antique furniture he promised to sell for her. When he refused to pay, I tucked my 9mm handgun into the waistband of my pants and went after him. I found him and announced I was there for the money he owed. He laughed me off and acted like he didn’t know what I was talking about.” “It must have looked pretty comical,” she continues, “because this guy was huge, at least six foot four and 260 pounds. However, when I pulled out the pistol to jog his memory, he ran into his house like a little girl, with me right behind him.” “Half an hour later, he took me to his warehouse, where I got all of my friend’s furniture, plus a few very choice items for myself,” she recalls.

“When I pulled out the pistol to jog his memory, he ran into his house like a little girl…” FA L L 2 01 4

“One day I picked up a Bible because there was nothing else to read.” While she managed to survive several shootouts, chases and arrests, Katie’s past eventually caught up with her. In 1999, she was sentenced to 151 months in federal prison. “In prison, I frequently started fights with the cops and other inmates, so I spent my first year in and out of solitary confinement. One day I picked up a Bible because there was nothing else to read,” she recalls. “As I went through it, I remember thinking, ‘This is the coolest book I’ve ever read!’ It had all these stories I remembered from childhood, like David and Goliath, and Noah’s ark. I just didn’t know they came from the Bible.” Katie was hooked. She read the entire Bible three times in three months. “I couldn’t get enough. As I read the Old Testament, I began to see a familiar pattern. I noticed that when God’s people followed God and His laws, they thrived. When they disobeyed His laws, they ended up in captivity.” “In their story, I saw a reflection of every inmate in prison, including myself,” she says. “We were doing the same thing, breaking the law, disobeying God and landing in prison because of it.” “The good part was when the Israelite captives were supernaturally released from their imprisonment in Babylon. They went back home, reclaimed the promised land and rebuilt Jerusalem.” That revelation became a focal point for Katie. She began writing. The result became a book entitled, The Captivity Series: The Key to Your Expected End. Because she knew, first hand, the struggle most prisoners experienced, she was able to connect with them. Soon, inmates began asking for copies of the book. Her life again followed the pattern of the ancient Israelites — this time in the good times. In 2003, she was miraculously released from prison after serving only five years of her sentence. When she won parole, her future was set. Her “expected end” was to teach inmates the secret of breaking out of the desperate cycle that imprisoned them. “The book is now in more than 2,500 prisons worldwide,” she reports. “We print and ship it to inmates at our expense. We’ve given away more than 150,000

copies, so far. In a normal month, we get more than 600 letters from inmates. We also have over 400 chaplains requesting books by the case,” says Katie. The prison ministry continues, but Katie’s reach has expanded to include all hurting people, inside and outside “the system,” through seminars, conferences, online and now, international television. Last fall, she filmed 51 episodes of a new television program, Healing Your Soul: Real Keys to the Miraculous, which focuses on soul healing and the supernatural miracles that accompany it. The show began distribution on The Church Channel and other networks in January of this year. “My goal with the TV show is to teach people how to pray for themselves and others to see true, miraculous healings occur. I will never be able to personally pray for all those who request it, but I can teach them,” she explains. “Already, the testimonies are rolling in, and many of them are very notable healings,” she says. “We have thousands of miracles videotaped, which people can watch on our website.” The ministry constantly receives letters from viewers who have been healed watching the TV program. Recently, an inmate incarcerated in Huntsville, Texas, wrote to Katie about his story. “He had a bacterial infection which caused his lips to swell four times their normal size and his body was covered with nasty sores and an itchy rash. He went to the prison infirmary, but none of the medicine they gave him helped. This continued for seven weeks, and the pain, he wrote, was agonizing.” She continues, “Then, while watching the TV show, he prayed the soul-healing prayers along with me. The next morning he woke up and he was totally healed! When the prison doctor tried to claim credit, he told him, ‘No Sir! It was the mighty hand of God that cured me through the soul healing ministry of Mrs. Souza!’” As she finishes telling the story, Katie leans back in her big leather chair, a broad smile on her face. “That’s why we do this,” she says contentedly. “That’s what it’s all about.” Suddenly, she gets up. “Are we finished?” she asks. “I’ve got lots more writing to do.”

TIMELESS WISDOM

by Roberts Liardon Aimee semple mcpherson (1890 –1944) was a fearless apostolic

pioneer who paved the way for the rest of us. She is largely responsible for the way we demonstrate Christianity today. An important point Aimee would always make with her Bible school students was: “Stay in the middle of the road.” Sister Aimee was talking about the strength it takes to stand firm in one place. The statement had a twofold meaning to her. First, she would say, be bold in the mainstream of life, but don’t allow the secular world to clone you into its mold. Be uninhibited and freely demonstrate the love and freedom that Jesus brought to the earth. Stand firm in the face of pressure, never flinching in the face of fear. Be bold to perform the plan of God for your life in the strength of what heaven has called you to do. Second, be passionate in the gifts of the spirit, but never be excessive. Don’t intimidate the crowd just because you have the power. Aimee often used the example of an automobile and its power to make this point. Although it could easily go eighty miles an hour, one would have to be very foolish to rev it up to that speed in the middle of a crowd. She would point out that such power from the Holy Spirit was always there, but it was meant to be used over the long haul in ministering God’s service to others. What Aimee was telling us, when she said to “stay in the middle of the road,” was this: Being excessive might skyrocket you, but you will eventually explode and plummet to earth. The Christian faith is a way of life, so run it like a marathon — not a sprint. Let us take the torch Aimee has passed to us, never settling for the mediocrity of a “religious” life. Shake your world for God with the freedom, boldness and wisdom that God has given you, and fulfill your personal destiny in the call of God. ROBERTS LIARDON is recognized as a church historian specialized in revival history. A best-selling author, he has written over 60 books, including his multimillion-selling series God’s Generals.
