Xavier alumni photographers

As students leave Xavier, many will retire hobbies and some interests to focus on their studies and higher education. Some students, however, choose to keep what they love to do as a main part of their lives. A few Xavier alumni have chosen to carry on with their love of photography. Liz Louis (X ’10), Allison Inglebright (X ’09), Jessica Kray (X ’10), and Lizzie White (X ’08) are some alumni who have continued to do what they are fond of. Liz Louis created Liz Louis Photography to share her work with others and help them contact her. Normally, she takes pictures of her family members and friends and occasionally weddings or senior pictures. Alumna Allison Inglebright is a photojournalism major at the University of Missouri. She started out in a Xavier photography class and has been consistent ever since. Inglebright hopes to shoot for a

newspaper or magazine when she finishes college. Mostly, she takes photos of people and what they do. For two weeks, she followed around a former body builder and did a photo story of him. Another photographer, Jessica Kray, started JKray Photography to share her work with others and build on her portfolio. Kray hopes to soon have a website going to reach out to others. She started taking photos in eighth grade for her parents. Kray prefers to take action shots for things such as theatre, show choir, sports and generally anything in motion or a once in a lifetime shot. Lizzie White began Full of Grace Photography, a photog (photo blog), as a way to market herself and her art with others. She started in 2009 and takes photos for seniors, concept photo shoots, head shots, weddings, families, and almost anything else.

The Vow hits theaters after much anticipation

On February 10, The Vow, a romantic drama starring Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams, was released in theaters. After Paige (McAdams) gets injured in a car accident, she wakes up from a coma with severe memory loss. She does not remember her husband Leo (Tatum), or any of their memories together. Despite the difficult circumstances, Leo honors his marriage vows and fights to win the love of Paige back. Paige struggles with the frustration of remembering who she is and rebuilding her life after losing the last five years of her memory. Tatum and McAdams both have experience playing roles in similar romantic dramas prior to The Vow - Tatum in Dear John (2010) and McAdams in The Notebook (2004). Channing has also appeared in She’s the Man and Step Up, which both came out in 2006. Memorable roles of McAdams include Mean Girls (2004), Wedding Crashers (2005), The Family Stone (2005), and The Time Traveler’s Wife (2009). The Vow is based on the true story of Kim and Krickitt Carpenter. The accident that injured Krickitt occurred in November 1993. Today, she and her husband

are still married and have two children, Danny and LeeAnn, who are eleven and eight years old respectively. The couple wrote a book together titled The Vow: The Kim and Krickitt Carpenter Story, which was published in 2000. They also released an updated version of their book titled The Vow: The True Story Behind the Movie that came out with the movie. The Vow illustrates how the power of love can overcome anything, even against all odds. It tells a heart-wrenching story that will leave viewers with lessons of strength, unconditional love, and finding one’s place in life. Similar to The Notebook, The Vow is a bit predictable, but inspirational nonetheless. “The Vow was the cutest love story, especially since it was based on true events. It shows the kind of love everyone dreams of, and Channing Tatum makes the movie even better,” junior Kara Marshall said. If someone is looking for a feel-good movie that will leave them inspired, this would be a great choice, especially for date night!
