Juniors reach out to the community On Friday April 27, the junior class participated in a communitywide service day retreat. Before groups set out to their assigned locations, Mass was held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Some of the locations juniors participated at included Meals on Wheels, Urban Farm, the Metro Catholic Outreach, the local parishes, and ReStore. Juniors also raked leaves and did other various yard work for parishioners in the area. The retreat was led by senior Sam George for his service project for the class Ministry and Service. “The juniors did anything from talking to the elderly to manual labor,” George said. The junior retreats includes a service component unlike the retreats for other grades. “It was an
eye-opening experience because I was able to do service with my classmates instead of just people from my church. I went to MetroCatholic Outreach and enjoyed organizing canned goods. I could see how it was benefiting people of the community,” junior Maddie Myers said. George was happy with how the retreat ran and he utilized senior classmates to facilitate each small group. George said, “The retreat was very successful because everything ran smoothly and went well.” Top: Junior Josie Laska plants
