Community participates in legislature branding By Xpress Reporter

The KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) legislature asked locals to participate in the 'branding of your legislature' event held at the KwaDukuza Town Hall on Monday, 10 June 2013. According to officials the logo currently in use is temporary and is still being used in 'the fourth term of democratic South Africa.' “The logo brings uniformity and better association so people can unite behind a brand.” The logo designs draw from the National and Provincial Symbols, such as the National Parliament, National and Provincial Coat of Arms. The motivation and inspiration used or considered are the current symbols of similar government institutions, established and relevant

symbols of South African history and heritage. The key to the various sources of inspiration was the adoption and use of elements that are relevant and appropriate to take forward the Legislature giving it a new identity, image and update, such as: the Zulu hut, the mystical coil, the sugar cane (which is said to represent the Indian community found largely in the province) and other colours and symbols. The legislature is asking you, the people of KwaDukuza or any resident of KZN province; to make your voice heard over one of two logos you feel should represent KZN. A Fake A young lady who tried to outwit staff at Identity with a false identity has been charged with fraud. It is alleged that the woman produced an identity document to staff to open an account. Staff members noticed

that the photograph of the applicant was loose and on checking more carefully, noticed that her photograph was merely placed over the original photograph. Police were called in and the woman could give neither her date of birth nor the

surname of the original holder. She eventually co-operated and told the truth. Busisiwe Myebethe (33) of Ntshawini is due back at court on 12 July. Expensive visit When Sizakele M s w eli returned home after visiting her former employer at Zimbali she found that her tenants had left and her laptop given as a gift by her former employer was missing. She managed to locate the tenants and they advised her as to who the culprit was. The culprit promised to return the item which he claimed was given to an aunt of his whom he owed money to. Thereafter began a game of cat and mouse until last week when she went with the police and had him arrested. Moses Tshimango (34), a Congolese, is due back at court this week to seek bail and to allow the court to seek an interpreter. In the nick of time Wonderboy Gcwensa has hailed the police as his heroes. He alleges that during May he was approached by several members of an Ntshawini family.

They accused him of assaulting a family member of theirs. The group began to assault him and dragged him towards another group of theirs who all began to assault him further. They placed a car tyre over him with intent to burn him. Police arrived in the nick of time and the group dispersed. Last week, Sandile Mngadi (24) and Goodness Phakathi (20) were arrested. They are due back in court on 18 July. Censored A young shoplifter from a rural settlement needs to acquaint herself with technology. Sihle Dube of Jet Stores pulled the woman aside after the sensors beeped. On inspecting her bag and not finding anything, he handed her over to a female staff member. On searching the woman in private, she found a pair of shoes tucked in her underwear. Cleopatra Mbuyazi (34) of Lambothi Reserve was sentenced to a fine of R500 or 50 days imprisonment. The final countdown Community members tired of crime are fighting back. Joyce Sikheti of Etete alleges that she was walking past the ambulance services alone at about 12:30pm. She was followed by a youth who grabbed her bag. When she resisted, he threatened her with a knife and fled. She began to scream and a group of civilians began to chase after the culprit. They managed to apprehend him and recovered her back with all her property intact. Thando Dube (28) was granted bail and is due back at court on 5 July.

Learning difficulty A learner with learning difficulties is learning fast that it is not easy out here. It is alleged by Themba Mpunzana that he returned to his workplace and noticed that diesel was drained from one of the trucks. The netting device on the other trucks prevented the drainage of fuel. Police were tipped off that the alleged culprits had sold the diesel to a local. He, upon being questioned, had no hesitation in pointing out the sellers who sold 35 litres of diesel to him for R300. registration activation is attempting to mobilize prospective voters during sports events to apply for their Identity documents in the run up to the 2013/2014 general elections. The campaign is being streamlined in conjunction with the Youth Month Sports tournament that was launched earlier in June as part of celebrating Youth Month. Sthembiso Magubane, Youth Affairs Chairperson, says the campaign will continue until the elections. “We have placed our focus on the ID and voter registration campaign and we will continue to campaign strongly to galvanize prospective voters to get their names in the voters roll. “We will be putting a strong focus on 'Mandela Children', individuals who where born into democracy as they will be voting for the first time,” he said. Magubane was speaking at a two day Youth Month sports event held at Groutville on Sunday where four soccer teams from different wards where battling it out.

‘Education remains one of our main priorities’ By Xpress Reporter

The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) wishes all learners currently writing their mid-year exams the best of luck. The ANC is reportedly confident that learners will excel and continue to work hard for the up-coming final exams that will be starting over the next few months. Senzo Mkhize, ANC KZN Spokesperson, says education

remains one of the ANC's main priorities and as a party they will always support the Department of Education (DoE) in its efforts to improve education. “As these learners sit for their exams, the ANC wants to reassure them of its support. We wish them nothing but the best of luck,” said Mkhize. He also said that 'these are our future leaders and we will do all it takes to make sure they receive the best education.'

The DoE in the KZN has introduced a number of programmes aimed at making education better. “Since this is the youth month, we urge our learners to take lessons from those young people who fought for better and quality education in 1976.” The spokesperson also encouraged learners to continue working hard ahead of the final exams to be written at the end of the year.

PRESS WORLD Making the world local

The gay people against gay marriage After France's first same-sex marriage, and a vote in the UK Parliament which puts England and Wales on course for gay weddings next summer, two US Supreme Court rulings expected soon could hasten the advance of same-sex marriage across the Atlantic. But some gay people remain opposed. Why? “It's demonstrably not the same as heterosexual marriage - the religious and social significance of a gay wedding ceremony simply isn't the same.” Jonathan Soroff lives in liberal Massachusetts with his male partner, Sam. He doesn't fit the common stereotype of an opponent of gay marriage. But like half of his friends, he does not believe that couples of the same gender should marry. (BBC News) NSA leak journalist says more revelations on their way As US federal agents build a case against the contractor who exposed controversial electronic surveillance programs by the National Security Agency (NSA), one of the journalists who has been working with him says more secrets are set to be revealed soon.

June 14, 2013

“There are extremely invasive spying programs that the public still does not know about that the NSA regularly engages in or other capabilities that they're developing,” said Glenn Greenwald, a columnist for the Guardian, the British newspaper that broke the first story based on secret NSA documents. “We are working on stories right at this moment that we think are very valuable for the public to know that don't in any way harm national security but that shine a light on this extremely secretive though momentous agency,” he said in an interview with CNN's Christiane Amanpour on Monday. (CNN) Boyfriend of dead Bollywood actress arrested The son of a Bollywood couple has been arrested on suspicion of abetting the suicide of his girlfriend, actress Jiah Khan, police said. Suraj Pancholi was arrested on Monday evening, officer D Deokar said. Khan, 25, committed suicide at her home in Mumbai last week. A letter she wrote alleges that Pancholi cheated on her, physically abused her and forced her to have an abortion. Police authenticated the letter was from Khan, and Indian media have published it. Pancholi's parents are Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, both stars of Indian cinema. Neither they nor their son has spoken about the allegations. (Al Jazeera)

MESSAGE FROM HIS WORSHIP THE MAYOR OF KWADUKUZA MUNICIPALITY, COUNCILLOR RICARDO MTHEMBU, ON THE OCCASION OF THE 37TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE JUNE 16 SOWETO UPRISING JUNE 16TH THIS YEAR MARKS THE 37TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SOWETO. WHAT STARTED AS AN UPRISING ON THE MORNING OF JUNE THE 16TH 1976, AS STUDENTS PROTESTED AGAINST THE USE OF AFRIKAANS AS A MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION, TURNED OUT TO BE AN IMPORTANT MILESTONE IN THE POLITICAL HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY. THE HEROIC YOUTH OF 1976 FOUGHT AGAINST EFFORTS TO EXCLUDE THEM FROM THEIR OWN EDUCATION AS THE APARTHEID SOUGHT TO ENTRENCH ITS OWN COLONIALISM ON THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH AFRICA BY ELEVATING ONE LANGUAGE OVER THE REST OF THE LANGUAGES. THE EVENTS OF 1976 CONFIRMED THE BELIEF IN THE LIBERATION MOVEMENT LED BY THE AFRICAN NATIONAL CONGRESS THAT NO REVOLUTION CAN BE VICTORIOUS WITHOUT THE EFFECTIVE EDUCATION, ORGANISATION AND MOBILISATION OF THE YOUTH INTO POLITICAL ACTION. THOSE HEROES AND HEROINES PROVED AN ESTABLISHED HISTORICAL FACT THAT IT IS NONE OTHER THAT THE YOUTH WHO FORM THE CORE OF THE POLITICAL AND MILITARY ARMIES OF THE REVOLUTION. THE YOUTHFUL ENERGY OF THE 1976 GENERATION ENABLED THEM TO PERFORM GREAT FEATS IN THEATRE OF BATTLE AS THEY SWELLED THE RANKS OF THAT EVER-GLORIOUS REVOLUTIONARY ARMY OF THE PEOPLE, UMKHONTO WESIZWE. THE 1976 GENERATION FOUGHT AGAINST THE EVIL SYSTEM OF APARTHEID SO THAT WE COULD CREATE A HUMANE, DEMOCRATIC, NON-SEXIST AND NON-RACIAL SOCIETY. UNDER THE THEME “WORKING TOGETHER FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND A DRUG FREE SOUTH AFRICA” THE YOUTH OF TODAY IS CALLED UPON TO USE THEIR VIGOUR AND BE THE MOST ACTIVE TRANSMITTERS OF IDEAS AND SKILLS. EMULATING THE YOUTH OF 1976 OUR YOUTH MUST USE THEIR ABILITY TO SPREAD THEIR ZEAL INTO THEIR SURROUNDINGS LIKE WILDFIRE, AND ACTIVELY TACKLE THE CHALLENGES OF GRINDING POVERTY AND UNEMPLOYMENT, SUBSTANCE AND DRUG ABUSE, HIV AND AIDS TO ACHIEVE PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND ECONOMIC FREEDOM. DRUG AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE ARE MAIN CONTRIBUTORS TO CRIME, GANGSTERISM, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, FAMILY DYSFUNCTION AND OTHER SOCIAL ILLS. OUR YOUTH NEED TO RECLAIM THEIR RIGHTFUL PLACE IN SOCIETY AND DENOUNCE THE NOTION OF “BORN FREES” WITHOUT ANY SENSE OF DIRECTION. THEY NEED TO LEARN TO BE GOOD FUTURE LEADERS, ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE PEOPLE IN THEIR COMMUNITIES AND RELATE TO THEM IN A PATIENT AND RESPECTFUL MANNER. AS MAYOR OF KWADUKUZA I CALL UPON OUR YOUTH TO JOIN HAND WITH COUNCIL AND USE THE OPPORTUNITIES WE HAVE MADE AVAILABLE FOR THEIR DEVELOPMENT IN PARTICULAR AND THEIR COMMUNITIES IN GENERAL. LONG LIVE THE SPIRIT OF THE '76 GENERATION!

Essence of Life Dried Plums/Prunes: The Secret to Health Sweet, plump, and moist with a sticky chewy texture, prunes or dried plums are so flavorsome that you can eat them as sweets. They are loaded with potassium, antioxidants and fibers. Prunes are a convenient healthy snack. The traditional image of prunes as a laxative dessert is not making justice to these versatile and delicious dried fruits. Most prunes are deep rich purple in color, and they are not only tasty but they are also highly nutritious. They are loaded with potassium, antioxidants and fibres. Prunes are a convenient healthy snack. Plums are the second most cultivated fruit in the world, second to apples. The process of drying plums is thought to have originated thousands of years ago in an area near the Caspian Sea. The word prunes might be going out of fashion to make way for names like dried plums or plum raisins. In the United States, prunes are now called dried plums. 1. Prunes are a particularly good source of fibre and other nutrients important for good digestive health. 2. Prunes provide soluble fibre, particularly pectin, which may lower blood cholesterol levels and can also help regulate blood-sugar levels. Prunes may play a role in preventing and treating type 2 diabetes. 3. The insoluble fibre in prunes help speed food through the digestive tract, which may help, prevent overeating and weight gain. 4. Prunes rank among the top fruits for antioxidant activity associated with the prevention of diseases such as heart disease, cancer, stroke, arthritis, Alzheimer's disease, and the general effects of aging. 5. Due to their reduced water content, dried fruits are a more concentrated source of nutrients than fresh fruits. The antioxidant value of dried fruit is considerably higher than that of fresh fruits, and prunes have six times the antioxidant potential of fresh plums. 6. What causes the laxative effect of prunes is unknown; some believe that it is the high levels of fibre.. Prunes provide bulk and decrease the transit time of fecal matter, and this decreases the risk of colon cancer. Prunes provide "food" for friendly bacteria in the large intestine, and an acid is produced that helps keep your colon healthy. 7. Prunes have generous amounts of the mineral potassium, which is important for heart function and for maintaining normal blood pressure. 8. The potassium found in prunes may also help to promote bone health. Recent research has suggested that dried plums may restore bone mass in the animals. Based on these promising findings, researchers conducted a small clinical trial with post-menopausal women. Women who ate about 12 dried plums daily experienced an increase in biomarkers that measure the rate of bone formation. The women were not on hormone replacement therapy. 9. Prunes help your body absorb iron. The ability of plum and prune to make iron more available may be related to the vitamin C content of this fruit. 10. Prunes are very sweet in taste and they can be used as a natural sweetener. You can also sue prunes as a fat substitute, especially in baked goods. 11. Dried plums are low GI food: a measure of the impact carbohydrate foods has on the ability to raise blood glucose (sugar) levels. Research continues on the benefits of consuming diets with a low glycemic load (GL) in preventing and managing conditions including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and obesity. Advice • As prunes are a strong laxative it would be unwise to consume too many too quickly. • Dried prunes may be sprayed with a substance to preserve them and people allergic to sulphide should avoid dried prunes. • Prunes contain measurable amounts of oxalates, and individuals with existing and untreated kidney or gallbladder problems may want to avoid eating prunes. Prunes (Dried Plums): Natural Weight-Loss Foods Though relatively high in calories for their size, prunes have a reputation as a dieter's friend. They add a powerful dose of fiber and some nutrients to your diet that are needed when you follow a lower-calorie meal plan. Health Benefits Prunes, however, get overlooked as a source of vitamin A, even though they provide more than ten percent of recommended levels. Potassium is another unexpected benefit you get from eating prunes, which is beneficial for blood pressure and regulating your heartbeat. Prunes contain the same phenols that plums have, protecting the fats in our system from damage. They also have significant amounts of beta-carotene, whose antioxidant function helps prevent cataracts, cancer, and heart disease. So don't just think of prunes as an antidote for constipation. They help weight loss by keeping hunger at bay and potential inches off your waist.

A family took a trip to Disney World. After three exhausting days, they headed home. As they drove away, the son waved and said, “Goodbye, Mickey.” The daughter waved and said, “Goodbye, Minnie.” The husband waved, rather weakly, and said, “Goodbye, Money.”

A doctor says to his patient, “I have bad news and worse news”. “Oh dear, what's the bad news?” asks the patient. The doctor replies, “You only have 24 hours to live.” “That's terrible,” said the patient. “How can the news possibly be worse?” The doctor replies, “I've been trying to contact you since yesterday.”

TESTIMONIAL TIME I Mrs Sarah from Richards Bay. I lost my husband last year in June. He left me with two kids fortunately we had built a house and had a small business, but my in-laws turned against me and they wanted to take the house away from me because I was not officially married to him. I became so worried about my children because the business was not doing so well. Life became so difficult and the insurance had also delayed to release the money belonging to my late husband, but as I read Mama a healer in one of the local news paper, she helped me so much, my in-laws changed and became so friendly, the insurance released the money and also my business started doing well. Mama can also help you in the following problems with love, marriage, financial matters, divorce, pregnancy difficulties etc

With strong Barraka water from Egypt My family members were treating me like half father because I didn’t give them enough support and yet my job was not paying me well. I decided to go to see DR RASHIDI. He charged me for consultation and later said that he has possibility to make me smile. He gave me Barraka water to bath and played lotto after. I had to win 1.7 million on my first day. I am now a good and caring father. He also told me to continue using my luck by also playing casino machines. I usually play them and walk out with good amounts. Try DR RASHIDI and your life will change in few days. Reyaaz Pillay from Tugela My husband’s family had really turned up against me. He was told not to support me because we had no child and he was always telling me to leave his house and yet I was an orphan. I decided to seek for help from DR RASHIDI. He believed me, he gave me small water and told me spill it in the house and wait for results. After 5 days, my husband’s family came and apologised and even said that they were also behind our not having a baby. They dug away the muti that they planted behind our house. I am now 16 weeks pregnant and expecting a baby boy. All my thanks go to DR RASHIDI. Fellow women should not be treated that way in the absense of DR RASHIDI. Marriam Mukes from KZN. “Mama Fati with Musiru Powder and Magic ring” My friends were visiting different casino after one to another but they were not winning and interesting amount. One morning I was walking on the street and I had people talking about the miracles performed by Mama Fati. I kindly asked them to also give me her contact then I went there to her office and see Mama Fati. She gave me Magic Ring and said that I should put on my right hand when I reach casino, I surprisingly win R37000 on my first day and I went back to enquire if I would play lotto for better amounts. She told me to use the same Ring, to put Magic Ring under my pillow to enable me dream of the lucky number. It shocked me when it perfectly happened and I had the number in my head in the morning. I later filled in my numbers in the lotto forms and I managed to win R4.3 million rands. I will never forget the happiness I had after winning that much. May God bless Mama Fati. I had suffered for so long without a smile in my face. Like my husband was turning against me as the business he had opened for me was going down and all my customers had run away from me with my money. I decided to go and look for help from Mama Fati. He gave me Musiru Powder and said that I must pour some around my shop doors way and also rub around my body. After just 3 days all my customers who had run away came back and paid me and later apologized and as I am talking now my business is booming and my husband is in my hands once again. Live long Mama Fati, she also does the following lost lover, family problem, court case, promotion at work, make men penis big and strong in all sizes permanently.

DR RAJ

I USED MAGIC RING TO PAY MY DEBTS

The sheriff’s department and debt collectors have been harassing me for three years due to debts that have been lingering with me. Other events have happened including the department cutting off my electricity, cutting my telephone line and eventually my water supply was cut off. I was black listed, could not apply for credit and became a declined client everywhere I went. This was putting a strain on my family especially my son who was an alcoholic and was not employed. My son;s depresson led him to taking drugs. This was getting too much and in the end i ended up borrowing money from my friends because the banks did not want to loan me money because I was unemployed. As a pensioner i realised on the small income I got but was not enough also. Things got worse when some of my friends wanted their money back. One day I got home I see the local community paper in my post box. The first thing that captured my attention was a testimony by a women who had been saved saved from her debts by a Godly man called Dr Raj. I could not believe this and for a few hours I thought if I should consult Dr Raj. Finally I decided to call Raj and ask him if he can help me as well. When I called him first thing that he had said that he knows I am in debt and should not stress. I felt relieved after that I decided to see Raj the following morning when I booked my appointment. During our consultation the man gave me a Magic Ring and told me that things were going to get better and that I would be able to get through my debts. Eventually after sometime I am debt free with Dr Raj’s miraculous help and his Magic Ring. I assisted my son to also get a good job at Toyota. This have been better for my family and we are growing stronger thanks to Dr Raj.
