The Mayor of the KwaDukuza Municipality (KDM), Councillor NR Mthembu reportedly said that the event was a 'fruitful exercise and the people have showed the willing to advance.' “This feature will change the way business was done before. Business people in KwaDukuza could take our small economy to another level, he said. He added that briefings will result in positive spinoffs as people already told KDM that 'this was what they have been looking for.' The event sparked a revolution in the way, especially with the youth, who see government and business help budding entrepreneurs, showed KDM's power in helping citizens empower themselves to an extent. “This seminar means justice to small people who have for long been held their back to the wall due to the lack of knowledge. We say the gains of KwaDukuza Municipality as a service delivery agency, is the gains of the people who benefit from its services,” said Mayor. The launch of the KwaDukuza SMME followed the three days of the Global Entrepreneurship Week that took place. This policy creates an enabling environment for SMMEs to participate in the tender market without undue hindrances,” she said. KDM expressed its commitment to the youth in growing this sector by: Providing training to the informal sector, conducting a first Tender Awareness Session, agreeing to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with (SEDA) and agreeing to enforce subcontracting in all new housing projects that will be advertised. The event aimed to bridge the gap of challenges facing SMMEs in terms of information; business support agencies

within the district; entrepreneurship and business management skills; access to finance and mentorship support and much. “We need to deal with these challenges so that our people participate in the economy by creating their own enterprises and be part of the national effort to create jobs, roll back the frontiers of poverty and deal with inequality. The SMME week we launch today bears testimony to our appreciation of these challenges and an effort to deal with them,” said the Deputy Mayor. The KDM Mayor said: “This is our way of doing away with redundant businesses which have for long been suffocated by the lack of innovative ideas. We have received strong support from our sponsors and indications of the possibilities of hosting yet another massive event next year.”

KRA and SAPS join forces to fight crime
Together We Can: From Left: Faizel Desai (KRA), Vanessa Vengadsamy (KRA), Brigadier Sithole (SAPS Station Commander), Shain Manjoo (KRA), Colonel Faya (SAPS Crime Prevention), Pravin Singh (KRA), Captain Ngcobo (SAPS Business Watch)
XPress
By Xpress Reporter The KwaDukuza Retailer's Association (KRA) held a ground-breaking meeting with the SAPS KwaDukuza on Thursday, 28 November 2013. The meeting was arranged immediately to address the issue of rampant crime in the CBD. Shain Manjoo, speaking on behalf of the KRA, said "Crime in the CBD has reached alarming proportions with many retailers recently having been subject to armed robberies and theft. We requested a meeting with the SAPS on short notice and were pleased with the quick response by Station Commander, Brigadier Sithole. She must be commended for her professionalism, commitment and determination to eradicate crime in the CBD.'' The KRA committee expressed the vulnerability of businesses to
crime and stressed the importance of increased police visibility and more foot patrols. They also requested that a mobile station be centrally located in the town gardens. In her address, Brigadier Sithole praised the KRA and pledged the full support of the SAPS. ''We want to partner with business to combat crime and have already deployed more police officers to the CBD during the festive season. We will also ensure high police presence throughout the year. We are serious about fighting crime and will exert the full might of the law when it comes to criminality," said Brigadier Sithole. She added that businesses must embrace technology and install monitoring equipment such as CCTV cameras as this aid greatly with arrests and convictions. To assist with response times, the KRA will donate a free cell phone to the SAPS. This phone will be dedicated for use by businesses in the CBD. Businesses
will soon be given this cellnumber to be called in the event of emergencies. The KRA will also consider providing formal and informal traders with whistles to be blown in distress situations thereby alerting other businesses about criminal activity in the area. The KRA will assist the SAPS by identifying known criminals and highlighting notorious areas in the CBD with high incidence of criminality. The KRA are awaiting confirmation of a meeting with the KwaDukuza Municipality which has a vital role to play in crime prevention in the CBD. KDM will be encouraged to integrate their crime fighting efforts with the SAPS and also to install more CCTV cameras in the CBD together with loudspeakers so that the controller can raise the alarm to prevent criminal activity. The KRA committee thanked Brigadier Sithole for her proactive approach and encouraged all businesses to join the association and to become more vigilant against crime.

Deceivingly honest Unaware of the fate of several Salumuzi gang members in this area, four Durbanites decided to try their luck. Londiwe Nene (23) of Maphumulo alleges she had drawn R1120 from a local bank and was walking in the CBD. She was approached by a man who touched her on her shoulder. A female confronted her and explained to her that the person who touched her was a “muti-man” and that she knew of someone who could help. She accompanied her and met a second female who led them to another man. He explained how to overcome the muti and they placed her in a vehicle, asked her to place her bank card and cash into an envelope and gave her instructions not to open the envelope they handed over to her for at least 30 minutes. Nene went to Pep Stores to make a purchase and upon opening the envelope, found worthless pamphlets inside. She reported to a passing police vehicle and they patrolled the CBD until they identified the vehicle used in the crime. The four occupants were taken to the police station where they returned the cash and the bank card. Nonzuzu Mbambo (32) of Phoenix, Noluthando Zinwine (47) of Ohlange, Rudi Tayne (26) of Newlands East and Mandlenkosi Qwabe have all been denied bail and will launch a formal bail application on a date still to be set. Rejected An 18-year-old who was rejected by his 22-year-old girlfriend is now in a fix. It is alleged by the ex that he arrived at her home in August at about 9pm. When her friend departed he stayed behind and began to assault her with a spoon and punched her all over her body. She alleges that he raped her and the following morning she reported to the police. Police tried in vain to apprehend the culprit and finally managed to do so last week after they received a tip-off. The 18-year-old is due back at court this week to seek bail which is going to be opposed.
also arrested. Both offenders are out on bail and due back at court on 27 March 2014. Not fast enough Community crime also requires some level of physical fitness. One chain snatcher found out too late about this requirement when he chose to steal last week. Dhewshree Somai of High Ridge alleges that she was walking along Balcomb Street at about 11:30am. As she reached Crystal Café, a youth grabbed her Mungal Sutra chain and fled. A passing crime prevention member spotted the youth fleeing towards the railway station and gave chase. The youth threw the valuable chain into a patch of grass but was caught shortly thereafter and the chain was also found. Chris Majola (18) of Neva's Store at Ntshawini is due back in court this week to apply for bail. The law is clear
When in doubt ask. Last week, police received a tip-off of a person suspected of having an illegal firearm. They approached the house of the culprit at Steve Biko township in Glenhills. On searching the house, the owner was found with a round of .38 Special ammunition in his pocket. On further searching, officers found 3 rounds of live ammunition. The culprit alleged that the owner of an illegal firearm had been arrested and he kept the ammunition. Sandile Enock “West” Ngcobo (20), a self employed tailor is due back at court on 24 February 2014. Not the right way A Mozambican who broke the law to achieve his goal is now in police custody. It is alleged by Bonginkosi Mthembu that at about midnight, France Ndlanzi (21) arrived at his home and demanded to speak to his father. Ndlanzi allegedly broke down the door and threatened Mthembu with a knife before fleeing with a television set. Mthembu senior and his two other sons joined in a chase but Ndlanzi allegedly kept them at bay by hurling stones at them.

By Xpress Reporter The iLembe District Municipality joined billions of people across the globe in commemorating World Aids Day with a starstudded event at one of its local municipalities on Sunday, 1 December 2013. According to the iLembe District Municipality (IDM) communications officer, Zee Nqala, Ms Ntombikayise Sabhidla-Saphetha; MEC of Arts, Culture; Sports and Recreation, joined the Honourable iLembe Mayor, Councillor SW Mdabe at the Nombika Sport Grounds in the Ndwedwe Municipality. The event was a partnership between iLembe and the Office of the Premier with many different congregations taking the time out before going to their church houses and being part of the event. Sabhidla-Saphetha, the district's MEC Champion for Operation Sukuma Sakhe, said that she recognised the role religion plays in the community citing Pastors that meet people from all walks of life. “We urge you to please join us in the fight against this disease. We need to hear your voices as well when it comes to dealing with social issues,” she said. Sabhidla-Saphetha also said it's important to 'remember loved ones lost on this day and to also
After a very long period of following due process, the KwaZulu-Natal Local Division of the High Court of South Africa granted an order in favour of the Municipality in the matter between KwaDukuza Municipality (the applicant) and Singh's Hardware and seven others (the respondents). The Court ordered that the marquee tent be taken down and removed by no later than 5.00pm on Friday, 29th November 2013. The Court further ordered that the respondents stop conducting trading activities within the boundaries of Lot 1324, remove all stock, building material, rubble, used pallets or rubbish from within the boundaries of Lot 1324. consent for any other use has been granted by the Municipality. Use of the land as, inter alia, a commercial workshop, garage, general industrial building, light industrial building, service industrial building or service station, or for the purposes it is presently being used for, is absolutely prohibited. In this regard the Court ordered that the respondents vacate the Dawnview Primary School property, remove all vehicles, motor spares, building materials and rubbish there from or deliver vacant possession of the property, in a clean condition to the school by 5.00pm on the 29th November 2013. Unlawful parking The respondents have, over a period of time, adopted the practice of parking motor vehicles, particularly heavy vehicles, within the confines of Mahatma Gandhi Street overnight and for long periods. Despite being asked to stop this practice, the respondents continually cause and allow vehicles to be parked illegally within the roadway of Mahatma Gandhi Street. This is part of the way they conduct business. The respondents were ordered to desist from causing or allowing any vehicle operated by them, from being parked in or next to Mahatma Gandhi Street anywhere other than in a demarcated parking area and when not for a continuous period of longer than three hours. The respondents were ordered to pay the applicant's (KwaDukuza Municipality) costs. The Municipality has taken steps to seek recourse from the Court after numerous attempts to ensure compliance had failed. This should send a message to all business operators that contraventions will not be tolerated. Issued by Sifiso Zulu KDM Communications Director

remind each other to take care of ourselves.' “The time for ignorance is over. It's important to love and support those infected so that they can be strong. These are after all our brothers and sisters,” she said. Other government departments such as Home Affairs, Social Development and more were on hand to deal with any problems the community may be faced with. The iLembe Mayor Welcome Mdabe sounded the call for men to change their behaviour. “There is a dark cloud hanging over this country. Men are not behaving like men. I am at a point where I am ashamed to call myself a man. Rape is wrong but raping a six-week-old baby is on another level,” he said. Mayor Mdabe shared his vision with the community of showing support to rape survivors. “We must visit the rape survivors family, cry with them and show our support. After that we visit the rapist's house to see for ourselves what kind of person they are. We must then go to court and tell the judge we don't want this person back in our community. This should be our responsibility as councillors, local mayors, district mayor, government employees and the community at large,” said Mdabe. He also urged infected community members to take their medication religiously.

Tootels hosts Big Brands Day Fair
XPress
Mandeni Mayor addresses housing issues By Xpress Reporter Mandeni Mayor, Councillor SB Zulu visited all wards that had raised housing issues during the Integrated Development Plan review meeting with officials from Human Settlement and Contractors. Mayor Zulu with all affected ward councillors invited the KZN Department of Human Settlement to explain what needed to be done. People from wards 05, 10, 12 on Mathonsi Sundumbili will be covered by the Integrated Development Plan. The Infill Phase Two project that covers thousands of people will start registration for houses on Tuesday. The Implementing Agent Mr Berry Thynesien explained the requirement which includes their South African Identity document, dependant birth certificate, and proof of income which must be is less than R3500.
By Xpress Reporter
Tootels held a Big Brands Day Fair on Saturday, 30 November 2013. Over 500 customers attended and were treated to gifts and fantastic discounts. The event was a resounding success with shoppers enjoying refreshments, attractive discounts and friendly service.
The Tootels brand is a household name in KwaDukuza and many of its long standing customers enjoyed interacting with Tootels staff and all customers received free gifts for their loyalty. Kellyisha Govender won the main prize for the day - A Phillips home theatre system valued at R3000.
“Congratulations to our winner and thank you to all our customers for your patronage and loyalty. Tootels will be hosting further discount events throughout the month of December and look forward to being of service to you all once again,” said Muhammad Tootla of Tootels.
Addressing the hundreds of potential beneficiaries who packed the hall in Machibini, under Inkosi Linda Mathonsi, Mayor Zulu said: “Mandeni Municipality was serious about service delivery and will ensure that Mandeni communities have a better life, a house is a need not privilege that should be given to some people ,we have brought officials from Department of Human Settlement after we have receive the commitment from MEC Ravi Pillay that all our Housing project will receive an urgent attention.” Zulu moved to address the people of Mandafarm in ward 7, who were not sure whether they would receive Rural Housing scheme or Semi Urban Houses. The community was excited on the news that all plans have been approved for the bulk services infrastructure that will soon be erected. It is reported that 1000 units will be built for Manda Farm Community with
appropriate schools and community facilities. The last visit was KwaSithebe, where there is more informal dwelling and slums close to the industrial area. The contractor explained that they package was different as there is land that can be developed with a rural scheme and the area that needs a semi urban housing development. The area also needed a rental family unit for people who are only in the community for employment purposes. The community members were only invited to discuss housing issues and were given enough time to examine the proposed development and they all agreed that the Rural Housing Scheme must be implemented shortly, since it needs no bulk infrastructure. The Mayor assured the community that the Mandeni Municipality will work toward housing development.

The gifted healer choosen by the forefathers Daniels Annithah of Umlazi township. We bought a house in this town Umlazi but never lived a peaceful life as a family because the house was possessed by bad SPELLS AND DEMONS which used to cry from inside & outside, by the time we went in that house. I had two kids and a girl who were normal kids with no problem. But ever since we entered the house we never considered again, in hospital they were telling me that I do not have any problem. All business declined without any profits, others completely closed down!! Until when we consulted the gifted healer MAMA SHAMIRAH who captured the bad SPELLS & DEMONS and gave us protection to put in the yard. Thus when we got to live a peaceful life as a family in our home. Everything came back to normal, I got pregnant and gave birth to twins. The old girl who had got paralysed for two years got cured. She also boosted all businesses that had declined, those that had closed we re opened and now we are in big profits hoping to start a CASH LOANING BUSINESS and EXCHANGING FOREIGN CURRENCIES to domestic. Don't sit back with problems eating you up even if when you have a different problem from ours make an appointment with MAMA SHAMIRAH she will help you solve it without wasting time.

I used MAGIC RING to pay my debts : the sheriffs department debt collectors have been harassing me for 3 years due to debts that have been lingering with me, other events happened including cutting off my electricity (power). Telephone line and water supply. I was blacklisted. I can’t get loan anywhere. This was putting a strain on my family especially my son who was an alcoholic & not employed which led him taking drugs. I was so stressed and my life was down, but one day I heard about BABA ZAIN on radio. I took his number and decided to contact him. We set an appointment and I could not believe they showed me my enemies in a white pot. They prayed for me and also gave me a casino magic ring, every machine I played I won a jackpot. Secondly few days after seeing BABA ZAIN I was promoted at work now we are living a beautiful life with my family. I thank BABA ZAIN. They also specialists in bring back lost lovers, promotion at work, financial problems, boosting your business, win court cases, enlargement all sizes. NB. All jobs are 100% guaranteed.

Advice Desk
Straight TALK ISMAIL ASMAL Cell: 0832558337 Email: iasmal687@gmail.com
Let's take the long walk to reality!! This weeks' article is very delicate and deals with a reality that our children will have to eventually face. Every level- headed, concerned teacher and parent tells children throughout the year, especially during exams and tests, 'Study very hard my child, get all 'A's' and you'll get a place at university or you will get a top job that will secure your future!!' So the child takes to heart the advice of an elder and starts serious study, gets extra tuition, makes many sacrifices, and tries his utmost to implement that advice. He fulfils all the requirements and gets 'straight A's' and believes he is now ready to take on the world. Alas, the reality of the other bit of the advice is not always realised! That child has been deceived and betrayed by parents and teachers alike as he neither gets a top job nor does he gets a university seat. Simply cast a cursory glance at the several examples of total morons and illiterates in government who occupy plum positions without the necessary credentials and expertise; they were by no means 'top achievers'. How embarrassing for our country when many of these 'top brass' can't even read or pronounce properly or utter a complete, coherent sentence. Yet they continue raking in hefty salaries and perks, loot, plunder and embezzle, brazenly involve themselves in subversive, corrupt activities with impunity, until an audit is performed, and fraud is uncovered. It has become manifest in every feature of public life in which councilors, mayors, ministers, police force members, teachers, departmental heads,( the list is endless) are discovered to be less than competent, they apologise, move to another province and carry on doing what they do best!!This is the reward for an education system that has been whittled away over the years after 'democracy'. All that is taught is now meaningless and the matric certificate is worthless. The country has lost its moral compass and children will follow the example set by their elders, engaging in the same nefarious activities. It is very distressing that millions are squandered in unnecessary, protracted, non-essential activities and salaries of unimportant people. Accountability is not forthcoming and the taxpayer is not allowed to examine or question the misuse of public funds. Despite all that's amiss in our land, let's hope that the new year will be more promising and our long fight for freedom doesn't become the long walk to self-destruction. Keep your thoughts flowing and the letters rolling

Mama Zuula opened the luck in my life. Today I am doing extremely well financially and I also found a man of my dreams says (Travis Shiru 38) Umhlanga. Now even at work things have changed, my bosses like me a lot and even with my family things are going very well. I used to date wrong men who would leave me broken-hearted and crying, and money used to slip through my fingers no knowing what I did with it. I always had financial problems, but all that changed. Today I can’t believe this is my life that has changed so much especially financially and love-wise. Mama Zuula can help you. She is honest and understanding.

Team iLembe hard at work in preparation for the SALGA KZN Games
DSR - corporate governance workshop
On the 22 November 2013 at the Natal Sharks (Growth point stadium) in Durban the Department of Sport & recreation had its first ever workshop on Corporate Governance to all its federations in KwaZulu Natal commencing at 9:00 in the morning finishing at 3:00pm at the Moses Mabhida Stadium high performance centre where athletes are taken for intense training. Some of the federations that were workshopped were KZN C r i c k e t , R u g b y , S o c c e r, Swimmimg, Volleyball, hockey, soft ball, tennis and canoeing. A budget of 20 million had been set aside by the DSR for sporting federations in KZN to assist them with their codes for player development and only 12 million had been given out to federations since April this year and they were hoping that the balance be given out this week and it was once again
reiterated that Chad from swimming is a world champion coming from KZN, Pinetown and with that being said, the DSR wants to see more talent coming out of KZN after they pledged their support to all federations in KZN regarding high performance. The HOD for Sport and Recreation has stressed on federations to invest more on players at grass roots and high performance rather than functions and events. She also went on by stating that federations should comply with the DSR regulations in order to receive funding timously so that it may not labour them from performing. She presented the session on corporate governance thoroughly with the intention of federations working together with the DSR to promote sport in KZN. The workshop overall was
intense and eye opening for many who partake in what the DSR is offering and how they should operate from a financial perspective in governance. Apart from the workshop, the DSR took a lot of feedback from all federations as to what are the major problems they are experiencing as a federation and how the connection between the DSR and Federations can work more effectively. A message of support from the President of the KZN sports confederation was that he is in full support of all. However now that all federation have been empowered about corporate governance, and stressing mainly about finances, that if any federation is found out of order he will see to it personally that they are dealt with and reiterated that money should be spent on players of the federations.
