Municipality pushes for a prosperous KwaDukuza By Xpress Reporter
KwaDukuza Municipality, under the leadership of Mayor Ricardo Mthembu officially launched the “Building a Prosperous KwaDukuza Campaign” on Friday, 27 October 2017 at Chief Albert Luthuli Sports Complex, Thembeni. The campaign is aimed at directly combating social ills in the KwaDukuza municipal area. Speaking at the launch, Mthembu said this campaign will bring together all sectors of the community against one cause. “With this campaign, we are hoping to fight social ills such as prostitution, abuse against
women and children. We will create a coalition with religious sectors, traditional healers, civil society organizations, business people and a lot more others” said Mthembu before citing that this campaign will be aimed mostly at young people as they are the future leaders. Mthembu also acknowledged that there is a lot that needs to be done in order to restore amity in the society. “We have held too many meetings to address these issues, and the situation is not looking good. As we are gathered here, somewhere a woman or a child is probably being abused. Most recently we saw a story about Siphokazi Khumalo who was murdered by her boyfriend. We usually saw such incidents on television but now it is clear that they are happening here around us at KwaDukuza.”

Workers demand answers Continued from page 1 Council Chambers asking for 'answers' in relation to 'corruption allegations' against certain senior officials. The widely reported about allegations were brought to the attention of the public when they started making rounds in local media outlets weeks ago. In relation to this, Mthembu cited that the Municipality had known about the allegations and were dealing with them internally. “The main issue regarding corruption was discovered by
the Municipal Manager and he reported that he had made some findings. We then gave him the go ahead to investigate whether the allegations had any basis. He then investigated and discovered what he discovered. We are now in the process of ensuring that we follow the correct processes to deal with the affected parties,” said Mthembu. He added that he does not want to create a situation where he is quoted out of context and make room for the affected people to go free.
“You may find that there are people who are at fault, but we do not want to mishandle the way we deal with them, because if we create loopholes they will walk free. You will then come back to us as leadership and say we did not do our job,” said Mthembu before further lamenting the 'unnecessary pressure' piled by the employees onto the management. “The pressure will result into us giving you the details we are not supposed to give out in public. That can be used against us. What we can promise you is
that, if there is anything solid from the allegations, within 30days you would know about it.” The mayor also stressed about how the matter got into the public while it was still being investigated internally. “It happened a while back that a case was handled inappropriately. We do not want to repeat the same mistake. We want to have solid evidence for charging people so that they won't come back and appeal. People will be charged, and you will know about it,” concluded Mthembu.

iLembe Cluster Task Team in collaboration with Empangeni Public Order Police and Ethekwini Outer South Task Team embarked on an operation in KwaDukuza in an attempt to eradicate the use of drugs in the area. According to KZN SAPS spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane, the members managed to uncover “a sizable amount of drugs and
money suspected to be the proceeds of drugs.” “Among the recovered drugs are ecstasy, rock cocaine and mandrax to the estimated street value of R10 000. A total of five suspects including a woman were arrested for dealing in drugs. The operations are still continuing in the Ilembe Cluster and more arrests are expected,” said Zwane. He added that the suspects aged between 30 and 40
were set to appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrates' Court on Monday, 30 October 2017. KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa said, “This proves that the police are dedicated in rooting out all crime elements in the KZN province. Such operations will continue in the clusters of the province as part of the festive season operations.”
Stolen vehicles recovered By Xpress Reporter
Two suspected stolen vehicles were recovered in the Doringkop, Uthukela area on Monday, 23 October 2017 as the Umhlali K9 Unit, KwaDukuza SAPS and other security companies embarked on an operation. According to KZN SAPS spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane, the members went to a house where a

set to appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrates' Court last week. CARING: Paul Rencken of Stanger SuperSpar officially opening the borehole at Parakubad Primary School with Principal L. Narayan looking on
By Xpress Reporter
Islamic Relief South Africa has undertaken to drill 18 boreholes in affected settlements regionally over the next six months in an endeavour to deliver clean drinking water to these communities and their families as well as improve sanitation, thereby reducing the threat of disease outbreaks. A good supply of clean water will also allow these rural communities to continue with their subsistence livelihood projects, giving hope. Coordinator, Iqbal Khan said that just over R1 million was
raised for the “Water For Life” project. “We are hopeful that we will reach our target of 18 boreholes throughout KZN by October 15. By this time we would have raised over R1.5million,” he said. The community of Glendale and most notably, Parakubad Primary School received the first of 18 boreholes courtesy of Islamic Relief South Africa (IRSA) and Spar. Mr. Iqbal Khan of IRSA acknowledged the contribution by the various stakeholders and volunteers. The project objective is to raise
funds that will be used towards Islamic Relief's borehole initiatives. Islamic Relief humbly requests you to support this noble cause. Banking Details:-? ILembe District Champion, MEC for Education in Kwa-Zulu Natal Mr Mthandeni Dlungwana led the Transport Activation Month at iLembe District on Wednesday 25 October 2017 accompanied by iLembe Deputy Mayor Dolly Shandu, Mandeni Speaker Makhosi Zungu and Greater KwaDukuza Region African National Congress leadership. As October was declared as Transport Month in South Africa, the purpose is to raise awareness on the important role of transport in the economy and to encourage participation from civil society and business, including the provision of a safe and more affordable, accessible and reliable transport system in the country. As it was Transport Month, MEC Dlungwana eagerly started the program by visiting Groutville High and iNkosi Albert Luthuli High School with the purpose of wishing pupils well for the final examination.
The main event (Transport Activation Month) was held at Mandeni Toll gate where a road block was done. During the road block 11 tickets issued for different offenses to the motorists in a space of two hours. After the road block, road P 415 in Mandeni which is under construction was visited to showcase progress achieved. Deputy Mayor of iLembe District Dolly Shandu thanked the District Champion with the achievements in the District and further asked community members to cooperate with the contractor on site. The program was folded at Sibusisiwe Hall at Mandeni by MEC Dlungwana. “We commemorate Transport Month with the knowledge that South Africa's road death toll remains at an unacceptable high level. Road accidents take a massive toll on society and their effects are usually devastating. South African government is hereby appealing to the road users to obey the rules to minimize the death toll” said MEC Dlungwana.

With environmental awareness being a high priority at Stanger Training Centre, learners are actively involved in initiatives aimed at ensuring that their knowledge about the environment is broadened. Departmental Head of the Intermediate Phase and Coordinator of the Environmental Programme at the school, Upasana Singh is committed to i m p l e m e n t i n g environmental initiatives at the school. Singh has presented a paper on Environmental Education in special needs schools at an
Environmental Conference in Botswana. She runs the Eco-Schools Programme as well as the School Environmental Education Programme (SEEP) which is run by the Department of Education in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture. “In terms of SEEP, we are now considered a Resource School. We are in our 11th year of the Eco-Schools Programme. We were in a very fortunate position as the only special school in iLembe to be part of the programme and received an award every year thus far,” she said.
The “Permaculture gardening programme” was also introduced to the school and is followed by all learners and educators. A Permaculture garden design uses sustainable energies and resources. It is energy-wise and collaborative to minimise the impact of a site on the surrounding environment. The school also has a huge recycling programme, where the community and learners collect waste material to be recycled. Learners also create items and artwork using recycled material, and annually participate in the Sustainable Living Exhibition in Durban.

Temple needs assistance The Tinley Manor Shree Siva Soobramaniar Temple is more than 104 years old and serves the greater Hindu communities of Tinley Manor, Shakaskraal, Sheffield, Riet valley, Etete and Groutville areas amongst others. The temple also boasts devotees from areas outside of Kwazulu Natal. Any facility or building of similar age would need restoration and ongoing maintenance and as this is a place of worship, should remain in prestige condition at all times. To enable safe access to devotees to the facility on a daily basis, regular housekeeping and full time security is also vital. To
ensure the daily upkeep of the temple and facilities on site, maintain and restore this historic public facility, funding is critical although very limited and difficult to come by. Some of the urgent repairs, replacements and installations that are required are listed below and it is the plea of the committee for businesses and individuals that are in the position to assist to please do so, as in doing so you will be preserving a historic religious site in Tinley Manor. • Roof slab badly cracked and needs to be sealed and then waterproofed.
• Ceiling need to be replaced • Roof metal sheeting needs to be replaced (recommend tiling) this includes all timber work • Temple yard needs to be fenced for safety reasons • Temple and dome to be repainted The temple society have over the last four months restored the Amman, Iduman and Hanuman temples/shrines, had the hall doors and windows installed whilst the toilets were upgraded as well. This was achieved mainly through the kind sponsorships and efforts of Mr and Mrs Chris Naidoo.

Local author publishes book By Xpress Reporter
PERSEVERANCE: Author, Kesri Maraj
Local author, Kesri Maraj (30) has put KwaDukuza on the map as her book entitled Katchina, is currently selling internationally. The Shakaskraal resident spent nine years trying to find a publishing house to accept her manuscript, a period which she describes as being the most challenging years of her life. Kesri says that she never gave up trying to publish her work. “With a bit of good luck I was browsing online and that is when new doors opened up to great opportunities and my book, Katchina, was finally published. It fortunately went international to Australia, the United States of America, France, the United Kingdom as well as parts of Africa. The book is also available on e-books, ebay, Amazon.com, Kobo, Partridge Africa Publishing house and many more,” she said. Kesri cited her love for literature as the inspiration behind her success as an author. “Never give up on your dreams. It takes some time to get there but patience is important.” Katchina is a must for all those that enjoy a good mystery, travel, exploration and adventure with dollops of suspense, a healthy dose of horror and magic. To purchase a copy, contact Kesri on 0833361100.

KDM's 'don't care' attitude
have a Facebook for KDM and nearly every day the people are complaining about the roads and all the potholes. What are you doing about this? Are you listening to them? On the 17th of March 2016 Mr Mthembu launched the first phase of the rehabilitation of urban roads project. You appeared with the people of Stanger Manor and surrounding areas in a local paper. It was a R16,5m project where Manor Drive, Clover Road, Everest, Thucker, Centenary and Azalea Roads were to be rehabilitated. What progress has been made? Its 20 months since the launch. There is a scathing attack on car guards. Do you the citizens of this town remember the mess KDM made with Chief Albert Luthuli Street? An amount of R4m was spent. This money was borrowed and interest was paid. It was impossible to reverse out of the parking lots. These car guards were the life savers. They did not ask you for R6 but accepted whatever you gave them. It is interesting to note how much was spent to correct the mistake that KDM made. How do you grow the economy by charging the residents R6.00 an hour for parking not forgetting the annual increases. The Mayor and the councillors should realise that the people of this town demand proper service delivery for which they are paying in advance. Every road, especially in the suburbs, is pathetic. Patching and filling potholes is not the answer. They need to be resurfaced. I call on the people of this town to join me and lets correct the imbalances of this town. I have made representations to NERSA to ignore the electricity increase
Violence must stop
The brutal killing of a female employee in Ballito Junction is a painful story to tell. No matter how angry the alleged killed was, his brutality confirms vulnerability of women in femicide. Recently, we saw visuals of ANC MP, Mduduzi Manana assaulting a helpless lady. He was unaware that someone was recording him. While he was forced to resign as deputy minister to recently purged Blade Nzimande, he is still ANC MP and the movement is not bothered on Pravin Gordhan, Nhlanhla Nene, Senzo Mchunu, Ngoako Ramathlodi in a long list. ANCWL is also silent that a confessed molester is still getting over R60 000 a month but good men and women are easily purged. Not so long ago, a couple from Groutville went to work in Johannesburg. The female partner ended up stabbed more than ten times by the partner who is now charged with throwing acid at another partner in Groutville. Brutality happened in front of the female's colleagues at work. We were glued on TV in the Reeva Steenkamp's murder trial and opportunistically ANCWL used live coverage of Oscar Pistorius case for cheapest publicity but were nowhere in the Manana case. We must give salute to the Judge who gave Ndlovu 15 in prison for raping his niece. The Judge detailed how “uncles” should protect their nieces than abusing them sexually. My mind went to Ronnie Kasrils who treated Fezeka Khuzwayo as “niece”. The book on Fezeka Khuzwayo has exposed Dr Zweli Mkhize and Richard Mdluli. Dr Mkhize wants to be the president but failed to protect Fezeka together with ANCWL. ANCWL, Gwede Mantashe, Gender Justice and Commission for Gender Equality have failed to Have you been seriously injured in a motor investigate KwaDukuza Councillor who assaulted his vehicle accident or the victim of possible girlfriends with boiled water, medical negligence? hot iron and hammer and admitted to his brutality but he is still in office like Manana as Councillor in the ward M.A.K. AMEEN & CO. ANC of Chief Luthuli.
I have watched with amazement the demeanour of the Mayor in the local newspapers. He is actually smiling at the launch of the parking payment system. Does he realise that all municipal charges were increased from 01-07-17. Eskom has requested an increase of 19.9% from NERSA across the board. There is an increase of licence fees for motor vehicles. Now we have R6.00 an hour parking fee. What are the councillors doing? Do they really care about the welfare of the people? Come 2019 they will come begging door to door for your votes. Is this a unilateral decision without consultation? Frankly, I am of the opinion that this is also a ploy to support the new mall. How does fleecing the public of R6.00 an hour for parking provide a “safe and more affordable, accessible and reliable transport system,” (said Mr Mthembu). For all I care the public should boycott and refuse to pay just as the people have done for the E Tolls. I think its time the people of KwaDukuza and surrounding areas joined forces and fought for their rights. Don't start protesting when we have a crisis. Join hands and correct the irregularities in this town. Can Mr Mthembu tell the public how many people approached him or the councillors and addressed their concerns about parking in this town. Mr Mthembu says “Its our key responsibility to ensure that we listen to our people when they speak and it remains our task to deliver on their wishes.” Is this really true, Mr Mthembu? You

BEE must not have colour
The constitution of South Africa laid the foundation for a democratic, non-racist, non-sexist society and embedded dignity and human rights. The call by Kwazulu-Natal ANC to oust Indians and Coloureds from the BEE is very sad comments. I support the sentiments by Inkosi Mandla Mandela who also highlighted that the monumental contributions by Indians and Coloureds in fighting for freedom. Stereotyping the Indian and Coloured communities and putting them into one basket is wholly incorrect. Our Indian community choose to be on the right side of history by standing firm for social justice and many paid a high price for that. The people of KZN and South Africa must applaud the ongoing and sterling charitable and humanitarian work done by organisations like AL Imdaad, Divine Life, Ramakrishna centre, Gift of the givers and legions of others. In 1994 the Late Nelson Mandela said, Indians, Coloureds and Africans are all black but that's not the case today. While acknowledging that in terms of the apartheid hierarchy Indians and Coloureds were not as adversely affected as Africans, I believe that Zikalala`s retrogressive proposal sends the wrong signal and is an incorrect way to address, readdress. I believe it is critical of politically connected cronies who benefited from government contracts: We all want to see the distribution of wealth to the people, particularly the previously disadvantaged, but not to people linked to comrades of any political affiliation. I believe that we were a rainbow nation, in conclusion, I am saying lets share equally and remember South Africa belongs to all who live in it. Community Activist Melissa Vembali (Darnall)

Press used “unemployed youth” to march for “radical economic transformation”. ANC leaders wanted tenders in cleaning and security services. Disgraced Mugabe was “left off the hook” by our government. In the Eastern Cape, ANC members used “chairs as weapons of ANC “civil war”. The slaughtering of this lady demonstrates how violent our society is. This man and those who kill in the ANC's tender and career wars taxi industry must get life without “parole”. Siyanda Mhlongo KwaDukuza

The murder in the Ballito Junction is not a reflection of weak security in the mall, no one expected this because the victim knew the perpetrator. But is a reflection of violence in the broader society. We are yet to have killers of Sindiso Magaqa and 23 people killed in “ANC low intensity warfare”. There is no success story in the killing of Menzi Meyiwa who played for Orlando Pirates. Even officials in municipalities are eliminated, amongst them Sbusiso Sithole in Richmond and CFO in Mpofana Municipality in Escourt. Future leaders like Bomber Ntshangase of COSATU in Mbombela, Sbu Mkhize in Hibiscus Municipality, Sbu Sibiya in EThekwini Metro, Sanele Nxumalo in Richmond whose cases are now “cold”. Deploying of SANDF is just loud noise of Minister Fikile Mbalula than a solution. How can you solve such murders when politicians and police are proxies of taxi bosses and drug lords. Worse, your senior police officers are Bernings Ntlemeza, Richard Mdluli, Kgomotso Phahlane. You do not need SANDF to solve “burglary” in the offices of Chief Justice and NPA heists inside OR Tambo airport and burning of universities, Mangaung city hall and 17 trucks torched in Govan Mbeki Municipalities and killings in the ANC. You need efficient policing “finish and klaar”. We saw violent strikes in the increase. In my submission to the Moerane Commission, I contextualised “ANC killing ANC” in the decline of quality leadership and factionalised SAPS and ANC. I refer to police failing to act on xenophobic attacks. I put this question to the Commission “why are Africans burning their freedom”? Partly, it's because once elected leaders, migrate to safe places. I was happy to hear that our Mayor Cllr Mthembu has moved back to Gledhow than staying in Port Zimbali where his salary could not afford a rent in Port Zimbali. Leaders who live bling lifestyles are ready to kill. In my Submission to Moerane Commission, I argue that if those involved in violence are not apprehended and jailed, we will not solve violence similar to the one in Ballito. During violent protests during nominations for ANC councillors, former ward 5 councillor had his car and house torched. Three sugar-cane trucks worth R3m were burnt, the matter was left cold because the owner is “White”. When Ballito Junction Mall was opened, some leaders of the ANC

I heard about muthi in many people last month. Before my husband died my in laws turned against me. MAMA ALISHA
MAMA ALISHA MY HERO OF A LIFE TIME I am Shanita, Mother of 3 and A professional nurse and I am here to thank Mama Alisha for healing me from a disease that kept me in a bed for 6 years. It started like a simple stomach ache one day at work. I never minded, took panados but the next day I could not get up as the pain was severe so my husband called an ambulance, but at the hospital I was shocked as doctor’s could not see the problem, they gave me pain blocks which never worked. Things went from good to worse when my legs started swelling and they were heavy if I lifted them. I had been in and out of hospital as well as seeing sangomas but still no change until I met Mama Alisha who treated me for only 3 weeks and I was fine. I thank Mama Alisha for every thing and would like to tell her that even the financial problem was fixed as she said because I’m back at work and all is well. Just call or whatsapp her on

Dawnheights host successful golf day
URL appeals to community with development (Inspirational words of Ismail Gori)
Winners of the Dawnheights Golf Day
Dawnheights Cricket Club hosted a very successful Annual Golf Day played at the Princes Grant Golf Estate this past Sunday with a huge gathering of players and attractive prizes with all golfers walking away with a prize. The team of the 4-ball-better ball comprising of defending champions of brothers, Gona and Richard Ponnadu, Mags
Iyer and Nathan Beyers scored an overall 98. Despite the windy conditions, golfers enjoyed a magnificent day out and have promised to participate in what will be the Dawnheights 10th anniversary of the tournament. There were four prizes for the nearest to the pin, and as said, there were exciting prizes for all. Dawnheights officials
thanked all sponsors and players for having contributed towards another successful edition of their 9th Golf day. They also thanked all for their participation in their raffle and very successful American Auction. The evening ended with a successful presentation evening and lots of fun at the traditional 19th hole.

To the community of KwaDukuza, parents, supporters, lend me few minutes of your eyes and mind...... A little insight about Marshmallow Sports Academy Dreams and Visions just so all will know what we all about.... Please I humbly request for you to take time out and read the message I present before you... Here's an opportunity to all of you and your kids to be part of this dream... Marshmallow Sports Academy Vision and Dream ...... and will always be my Dream and vision , is striving to build a dynamic nation through sport with communities by creating unity, love, respect, good sportsmanship and selfdiscipline among contestants as well as youth adults and leaders ... Our kids have become too accustomed to a techno driven world and by them continuously engaging themselves in this techno world they tend 2 lose sight of reality and our surroundings as well as their senses (touch, sight, smell, feel) to name a few ... we as parents
also lose out some quality time with our youth by not watching them play sport or growing up in the fields.. .... (We have forgotten that we grew up climbing trees , playing marbles , hop scotch , 3 tins , hide and seek , playing in sand etc and not in front of television sets or spending a Sunday at malls) ....... sport getting involved with society no matter what colour, race and religion we were in have made us into individuals with principals and character .... Let's track back, rewind our minds and ask ourselves, what made us who we are today?? .... There's so many life coaches out there in this world today, when back in our days there wasn't any sports , good actions , getting involved with humanity, physical usage of mind activated our minds and brains ... that was our coaches to life coaching My mission in the future is not just soccer or sport, but I will be including programs where the boys raise funds and will be taking them out to orphanages, shelters and include them in feeding programs for the less fortunate, bring and share days
and braai nights and a lot more, with the permission of parents and I will also be including and getting them involved in humanitarian work so they ...." R E A C H O U T T O HUMANITY" Also in the pipeline for future are camping trip outings and adventurous excursions ... all that will come as we grow and build a united bunch of youth. I do hope parents are in favour of the intentions of the program and academy as we strive for unity, respect and love and all this above makes them into future leaders... *Our Youth is an investment for the future* Meanwhile, URL Sports Association hosted their first ever junior social district friendly in the U9, U11 and U13 category against Glenhills Sporting. Glenhills won the U9 section 7-0 with Marshmallow winning the U11 division 11-2 and U13 division 13-0. Ismail. KwaDukuza Sports Recognition Awards a huge success KwaDukuza Municipality, working together with the local and provincial sports federations hosted their inaugural Sports Recognition Awards this past Saturday, 28 October 2017 at the KwaDukuza Town Hall. The awards ceremony sought to recognise the contribution of sports towards social cohesion and unity, and celebrate courage in the field of sport as well as excellence in performance. They were used as a tool to promote mass sports participation of KwaDukuza youth and other persons involved in promoting sport in KwaDukuza. This was an attempt to honour, reward and recognise the KwaDukuza sports stars in their efforts in keeping the passion of sports alive in KwaDukuza and the district as a whole. These include sports stars that have represented KwaDukuza in a series of championships, ranging from the districts, provincial and national games. The awards categories included school team of the year, developing school team of the year, coach of the year, administrator of the year, sportsman of the year, team of the year, Mayoral awards, volunteer of the year, federation of the year and photographer/journalist of the year. Guest Speaker, Her Worship, Deputy Mayor of KwaDukuza, Cllr Dolly Govender stated that these awards will go a long-way in ensuring that the Municipality is seen supporting local sports development and support local talent identification and exposure to the professional
leagues for up-and-coming- players. She took a stroll down memory lane with her sporting prowess and then reiterated how the late icon, and former President used sport to unite the nation when he donned the shirt of Francios Pienaar and lifted the Rugby World Cup trophy with Pienaar, the most photographed photo, in 1995 and then inspired South Africa to their first Africa Cup of Nations trophy in 1996. She added that sports is the tool to unite a country that has such a divergent population. Govender also mention that sport is the tool to eradicate the ills of the youth against the back drop of the numerous incidents in KwaDukuza that has been experienced in the past. The highlight of the evening was petite and diminutive Archana Datharam who scooped the sports woman of the year award for her prowess on the chess board with runner Themba Mbi getting the sportsman of the year award as well as a mayoral award. KwaDukuza United ran away with the team of the year for their advancement into the Nedbank Cup to the quarter finals. Ajiba Mtameli also received the mayoral award with another stalwart, Krish Kisten and Themba Mbi for their dedication and contribution to sport. Xpress Times scooped the photographer/journalist of the year with sports reporters Anil Singh (English) and Marvellous Zondi (isiZulu) recognised as winner and runner up respectively

Naidoo and Dewlall lead Morningside to a record breaking victory Morningside Cricket Club smash their way into the record books, posting the highest ever 50 over score in the iLembe District Cricket Union scoring 370 runs and a first wicket partnership of 282, and a double hundred posted by superstar opening batsmen Rajen Naidoo
matching legendary Sachin Tendulkar to his feat. Morningside took on Nkobongo in a 50 over league match played at Gledhow cricket grounds this Sunday. Morningside chose to bat first and openers Suveer Dewlall and Rajen Naidoo batted at a steady

3.5 runs to the over for the first 10 overs, posting 35 for no wickets after 10 overs. Nkobongo must have been quietly confident of their efforts thus far. Little did they know this was just the calm before the storm. What followed can be best described as a massacre, led in large part by Rajen, it began to rain sixes and fours. Harry blasted an impressive double ton posting 204 runs. He hit a staggering 23 boundaries and the balled sailed well past the ropes 8 times for some scintillating six hitting. Rajen eventually holed out in the thirty eighth over, caught on the long off boundary, with the team score now on an already imposing 282 runs. With all this carnage going on at the other end the youngster Suveer kept his head and provided the strike and punished anything loose. He played a fantastic innings well beyond his years. Lucky Gebane joined Suveer at the fall of the first wicket and the mandate was

spirits were quickly dashed when Rocky picked up the first wicket in just the second ball of the match when he caught and bowled the opener. He picked up his second wicket in his very next over when A. Sibiya was well caught at point by Gerhard. Suveer then picked up the next wicket when Preshen caught B Sibiya at mid- off as he played early and drove in the air, Suveer then clean bowled Manala in his next over. At 15 for 4 the writing was on the wall for Nkobongo. Don Naidoo bowling the eleventh over caught and bowled Sifiso for 15, thereafter it was a profession of ducks as Preshen Rampersadh ran through the tail, picking up 3 wickets. Nkobongo were all out for 25. The best bowlers for Morningside were Rocky
clear keep pressing on the advantage. Suveer was unlucky to fall 7 runs short of his maiden hundred. He was out caught and bowled for 93 runs. He hit 8 fours and 1 six. The rest of the Morningside boys all tried to give it a fair momentum, and every batsmen played selfless cricket in pursuit of quick runs. With Lucky Gebane making 11, Gerhard Nagiah 5, Preshen Rampersadh 23, Owami Zondo 5 and Rocky Mgobhozi 14 not out. All this big hitting lifted the Morningside team score to a never before heard of in Stanger cricket, 370 runs in 50 overs. The only bowler of note for Nkobongo was Manala who picked up 4 wickets for 58 runs in 9 overs in the match. Needed 371 runs for victory was always going to be a tough challenge for the spirted Nkobongo t e a m . T h e i r
Mgobhozi 5 over 2 wickets for 19, Suveer Dewlall 5 overs 2 wickets for 7, Don Naidoo 2 over 1 wicket for no runs and Preshan Rampersadh 2 overs 3 wickets for no runs. The man of the match award went to Suveer Dewlall for his excellent 93 runs and 2 wickets. It was a record breaking day for iLembe Cricket and Morningside Cricket Club, highest team score in 50 overs 370, highest first wicket partnership 282, highest winning margin, 345 runs, only player to twice hit double hundreds in the iLembe league, Rajen Naidoo. Manager of Morningside Cricket Vernon Perumal said he could not be more proud of the achievement of his team and felt blessed to watch this performance live.
