t's a dawn of a new era. This is the mood that prevailed at Sabuyaze Sports Field in Maphumulo last week Thursday when former KwaDukuza Mayor and current member of the ANC Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) Sduduzo Gumede was elected unopposed as the new Mayor of the iLembe District Municipality, at the Council's inaugural meeting. Outgoing Mayor Welcome Mdabe and his wife Thembi were also in attendance, and appeared to be in good spirits. Gumede will be deputized by Dolly Shandu, the ANC Women's League PEC member, who was also elected unopposed, while ANC Youth League Greater KwaDukuza Regional Secretary Lucky Makhathini received the nod as the new iLembe Council Speaker, to replace the outgoing Speaker Thokozani Msweli, who was conspicuous by his absence. The District Council is comprised of 32 members, with ANC taking a whopping 22 seats in Council, while the IFP lies second with six seats, and the DA and EFF come third and fourth with a paltry three seats and one seat

MEC Dlungwane urged the incoming Council to forge strong linkages with the institution of traditional leadership to facilitate effective service delivery, stressing that KwaZuluNatal province was a largely rural province with a crucial role being played by traditional leaders. “We urge the elected leadership to demonstrate commitment towards service delivery. After Magistrate Padayachee had dispensed with the formalities to swear in all the 32 councillors, Makhathini was promptly elected as the new Council Speaker, and then councillors elected six EXCO members, with the ANC again taking the bigger slice of the cake with four EXCO members, while the DA and IFP had to console themselves with one EXCO member each. The ANC elected Gumede, Shandu, Cllr Sandeep Oudhram and Cllr Musa Maphumulo as EXCO members while the DA sent in the veteran Cllr Madhun Singh and the IFP opted for the relatively unknown Cllr Aubrey Baartman. Cllr Makhathini called upon all councillors to forget about political party affiliation when it came to Council work. He said iLembe District had not even a single ward in which service delivery was lacking simply because it was governed by a particular political party. Mayor Gumede thanked the
ruling party for affording him the opportunity to lead the people of iLembe District. He also thanked his predecessor, former Mayor Mdabe for exemplary leadership whilst still at the helm of the District Council. “A lot of work has been done under the outgoing Council, with awards being earned and clean audits achieved,” stated Gumede. However he also raised reservations about some policies that were adopted by the outgoing Council, and said the new Council would have to promptly review the sewerage tariffs policy. Several products promising miraculous transformations were then manufactured and marketed specifically to the black community. “Consequently many black women and black men have mutilated their bodies and have even died because they used products containing harsh chemicals that promised peace of mind in a bottle,” he said. The department officially
launched an anti-skin lightening and bleaching campaign in Durban on Friday. Dhlomo also called on law enforcement authorities to ensure that illegal products were taken off the shelves, destroyed, and not imported again. “We also call upon them to play their roles in enforcing legislation and monitoring of illegal importation of banned skin creams. The business sector associations also has
to show its caring and progressive ethos, calling upon all their members to remove of all the banned skin lightening creams from their shelves in supermarkets, vendors, pharmacies, and spice shops. “To the manufacturers, we demand that they stick to the strict guidelines and legislation that governs the sale of products which are meant for treating pigmentation.”

Nonhlevu Secondary plagued by learner pregnancy By Xpress Reporter
Nonhlevu Secondary School in Groutville has been singled out as one of the schools within iLembe District that still suffers from high incidence of learner pregnancy. This emerged in a report presented by iLembe District Education Thembi Vilakazi at a multisectoral consultative forum that took place at Stanger High School on Monday this week. Vilakazi said, in court papers, he had inspected the property last year and found numerous additions or alterations made without any building plan approval. High Court Judge Jacqui

building inspector must also be allowed on to the property at any time for an inspection. The municipality was also granted leave to apply for a demolition order, for the owner to demolish all buildings on the property or parts of those buildings that were constructed without a building plan or conflicted with the Town Planning

Maidens from KwaDukuza, Mandeni, Maphumulo and Ndwedwe dressed in their tradition regalia on Saturday the 27 August 2016 at the KwaDukuza Recreation Grounds in the event named Siyaya Emhlangeni. The annual event is to bid farewell to maidens and prepare them for the annual Zulu Reed Dance taking place at Nyokeni Palace in Nongoma. The event was attended by close to a thousand maidens from the iLembe District and members of royal family including Princess Nombuso Zulu and Queen MaDlamini Zulu who addressed and emphasized the importance of remaining a virgin until marriage and warned them about various transmitted diseases that are killing the youth. The reed dance promotes the respect of young women and the reeds symbolize their virginity and is attended by maidens all over South Africa and other African countries such as Swaziland. SERVICE GUIDE
In ancient times, a ferocious lion lived in the forest, killing without remorse. The other animals were terrified. To stop the lion's deadly hunts, some animals offered to provide him with food each day. Some animals would still die, of course, but the rest would live in peace. The lion agreed and enjoyed months of the easy life. One day it was the hare's turn to present himself to the lion. Although small, the hare was very crafty. “Lion, lion,” the hare cried out as he approached. “Help me, help me! Another lion is trying to eat me. But I am to be your dinner! You must stop him!” Furious that someone was trying to steal his food, the lion demanded, “Take me to the thief. I will make him pay for this mischief!” The hare and the lion made their way through the forest, eventually reaching the deep well.

2016 THE BEST YEAR OF MY LIFE- ALL THANKS TO MAMA ALISHA I am Mr Vijay Tinnet from Stanger Manor. I was a security guard for 15 years but had nothing to show as my salary too was small. I had fear to marry becuase I had fear that I couldn’t support a big family. One day I was chatting with Jan Corbus my previous work mate who had become rich so fast and he told me to go to Mama Alisha because she had helped him to get rich. He called her and told her he was sending me to her. The next day I went, she started with a prayer, then she told me to use a magic wallet. I took the magic wallet home, after only 3 days she had told me I woke up checked the wallet and here was a lot of money. I went back to her she said it will bring more. I bought myself a brand new range rover & A home in Umhlanga and also got married. I opened my own business thanks too Mama Alisha
MY WIFE TOLD ME TO GO TO HELL WHEN I WAS POOR BUT SHE WANTS ME BACK BECAUSE IM RICH I am Cliff from Umhlanga. I came to know about Mama Alisha from Auntie Merina who lives in Stanger and had previously visited her with a financial problem and it had been fixed. I had lost all my money, cars, business some of which was left to me by my late parents. When things went real bad. My wife told me to go to hell and started having affairs looking out for rich men and when I confronted her about it she told me go to hell, left me alone and went. I suffered for almost 2 years but meeting Mama Alisha rose me up again. She gave me a magic wallet with which I could get money daily inside my house. I opened up a new business worth 2 million rands bought 2 new cars and when my wife heard that I am up again she wants me back, thinking of forgiving her but am not sure. Only that she is the mother of my 3 kids. I can forgive her for only that. If Alisha bought my life back to normal, I know she can help you too.
