KDM fills divide through financial injection By Xpress Reporter
“Do not forget where you come from and the struggles you went through to get to tertiary, always strive to make your parents happy. When you will go there (University) you will meet all different kind of people, some good and others bad. Always remember why you are going there in the first place. “Education is not a process to life, it is life itself. Always remember that there is a purpose for going to school,” said Mthembu. Previously, only full bursaries were awarded by the municipality and that has since been changed in order to accommodate more students. “We realized that there is a need to give financial assistance to many students at once rather than to giving

ew and returning tertiary students from around KwaDukuza received a financial boost from the municipality in order to pardon them from high tuition fees. The financial aid awarding ceremony took place on 25 January 2017 at KwaDukuza Town Hall. Out of 193 applications, 114 students benefited from this year's municipal financial aid which is an addition of 31 students to last year's 83. Mayor of KwaDukuza, Cllr Ricardo Mthembu used this day to motivate students about the importance of always remembering where they come from.
full bursaries to a handful of students. This year we are not only supporting first year students, we will also be assisting returning students as well.” Mthembu also urged parents to be hands on in their children's tuition and always keep in contact with institutions in order to know how their children are performing at school. Students were also urged to not misuse the money given to them by either their parents or financial aid schemes. Meanwhile, the mayor also lamented the manner in which parents are raising their kids now saying it is improper and as a result, some of the students are not behaving well.
THANKFUL: A student receives the letter of approval for a registration fee from KwaDukuza Mayor, Cllr. Ricardo Mthembu.

International delegates in KwaDukuza By Xpress Reporter
A delegation of four from Wales (part of Britain and the United Kingdom) visited iLembe District Municipality last week as part of the Maluju R74 Business Development Corridor (RBDC). The RBDC Project aims to build monuments to honour those who died bravely in the Anglo-Zulu wars and to develop businesses, agriculture and tourism along the Grey Town Road corridor from Stanger to Grey Town. It is the brainchild of Maluju Charity, an organization whose main intent is to revive the local rural economy and to improve the socio-economic conditions of the people of Ilembe and the surrounding districts. The delegation which included members of the Welsh Royal Family, the Honourable Minister of Education Ann Rees and two investors was welcomed to the region at a dinner held at the Luthuli Museum on Wednesday, 25 January. Speaking at the dinner, His Worship the Mayor of iLembe District Municipality Cllr Sduduzo
Gumede said he was delighted to host the visitors and is hopeful that this visit will mark the beginning of many more mutually beneficial ones to come. “This region and KwaDukuza to be specific, has attracted in excess of R3billion in tourism projects in the past few years. Developers have recognized the value of the natural environment and have adopted an approach that puts residents and visitors directly in touch with the regions natural beauty, making the dream of live, work and play a reality,” said the Mayor. On Thursday, 26 January the delegate was taken on a tour of uThukela River mouth where they visited Fort Pearson one of two forts to guard the passage of the river built by the British Government in South Africa during the Anglo-Zulu War. The delegates also visited the Ultimatum Tree a fig tree where the British delivered an ultimatum to King Cetshwayo's Indunas to disband the Zulu Army and for Cetshwayo to swear allegiance to Queen Victoria. These conditions were unacceptable to the Zulus and war broke out. The tour

ended with a visit to the British Military Cemetery located just outside Fort Pearson near Princes Grant. On Friday, 27 January the delegates visited Phezukomkhono High
School and Sibanisethu Primary School in Maphumulo before trekking Ntunjambili Mountain in Kranskop. The mountain has been earmarked as a location for a Peace Monument of the
Anglo-Boer War. After this visit to iLembe the delegate proceeded to Umvoti Municipality in Grey Town where they will spend a few days visiting more sites along the corridor.
A 51-year-old man was murdered in cold blood in an alleged business robbery on 28 January 2017 at about 20:30. According to Lieutenant Colonel Zwane of the KZN Media Centre, a case of murder was opened at Umhlali police station. “A 51-year-old man was allegedly shot and killed by four suspects during a business robbery at Maroupi Wedding Venue, Umhlali,” he said. Zwane added that jewellery was taken from guests, and no arrests were made.

COMMITMENT: Seated: Ilembe District Mayor, Councillor Sduduzo Gumede and KZN MEC for COGTA, Nomusa Dube-Ncube signing a declaration. Standing: Mandeni Mayor, Councillor Sphesihle Zulu, KwaDukuza Mayor, Councillor Ricardo Mthembu with officials
Kwazulu-Natal MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) Nomusa Dube-Ncube has issued a warning to councillors in the province that they will be held personally responsible for their municipalities' fruitless and wasteful expenditure if this happens on their watch. Dube-Ncube made this statement on Friday, 27 January 2017 at the Royal Show grounds in Pietermaritzburg where most of KZN's 1846 councillors together with municipal officials gathered for the re-launch of the provincial Back to Basics programme at the start of the new term of local government. DubeNcube believes that every cent of ratepayers' money lost through
fruitless and wasteful expenditure by councils where councillors deliberately chose to neglect their oversight role must be actively recouped from those councillors as a way of managing consequences for such blatant dereliction of duty. “The Back to basics programme is clear that municipalities must focus on their core mandate which is to provide services to communities. This includes developing and maintaining key infrastructure. Each council must ensure oversight over every cent and that all decisions are in line with the legislative framework that governs local government,” said Dube-Ncube. The summit saw Mayors from all of KZN's municipalities
signing the Back to basics pledge, which includes key undertakings like ensuring the delivery of basic services, good governance, public participation, sound financial management and institutional capacity in their respective municipalities in the new term of local government. “One of the things that negatively impact on our municipalities' service delivery performance and long-term sustainability is the councils' failure to plan adequately and to invest in their own internal capacity so that they would not have to rely on outside consultants,” said Dube-Ncube. In the 2014/2015 financial year, KZN municipalities achieved 22 clean audits.

Health feature editorial: Lower Back Pain Lower Back Pain (LBP) is one of the most common complaints of patients seen by doctors and physiotherapists alike. Due to factors such as poor posture during our daily activities, lack of physical activity, and the growing prevalence of weight-gain; many people experience LBP at one point or another in their lives. Research has shown that ignoring back pain can cause it to reappear at a later stage, and more severely so. A variety of different sources could be causing your LBP. These could be anything from picking up a heavy object incorrectly; tearing a muscle during a sports game; or even spending too much time in one position, such as standing or sitting or bending all day at work. Increased anxiety and stress in the home or workplace can make the pain worse. As a result, LBP is one of the main causes of people being off sick from work.
Sometimes the pain is linked to something more severe, like arthritis in the spine causing disc herniations and 'pinched nerves' (pain running down your legs). In other instances, pregnant women complain of LBP due to the increased weight their spines are now expected to carry. Oftentimes people are unaware of their sleeping positions and or wornout mattresses/pillows that may be contributing to their LBP. Therefore, it is vital to determine the source of your back pain so as to seek out effective treatment and longlasting pain relief as soon as you can. This is where the physiotherapist comes in. The physiotherapist is a trained professional, equipped with the knowledge and skills to assess and treat you effectively. Seeing as physiotherapist early is best, as it can not only speed up recovery but also prevent the problem from occurring again. The physio will assess you thoroughly to
determine if you have any serious health problems that could be contributing to your LBP. The assessment involves looking at your spine and lower back; therefore you will need to remove some of your clothes during the exam. It is important to note that every consultation with the physiotherapist is private and confidential, in an enclosed area. Once the source of your pain is determined, the physio will use specific treatment modalities to provide you with pain relief. Every patient is different; so naturally your treatment will be different to that of another patient, even if they present with symptoms similar to yours. The treatment modalities include: Massage, Spinal mobilisation techniques, Heat or ice, Electrical stimulating machines including LASER therapy, Acupuncture, Therapeutic exercise. The physio will also educate you on simple postural adjustments and movement techniques you can adapt at home and your workplace to help manage your pain. In most cases, one or two treatment sessions are not enough, therefore don't get Have you been seriously injured in a motor discouraged. Depending on the nature of your vehicle accident or the victim of possible problem, the physio will recommend how many medical negligence? treatment sessions will be necessary for you. Stanger South hosts Awards Day
ACHIEVEMENTS: Stanger South Secondary School held their Awards Day at the Ilembe Auditorium on Friday, 27 January 2017. Seen are proud learners with their awards
A higher education makes you healthier! Matric in South Africa brings with it loads of anxiety and tension, especially for those who put huge amounts of effort into their studies, and ultimately their futures. So to commit to further studies is daunting you feel like you need a break, parents included! However, the benefits of a higher education cannot be emphasised enough. So says Kerry Damons of Boston City Campus & Business College. “A recent U.S Bureau of Labour Statistics report showed that the median weekly earning for high school graduates was the equivalent of R9000, while the weekly earning of an individual with a bachelors was R14 863. For starters, it looks great in Rands! However, what we are pointing out, is that on average, someone with a 3 year post matric degree has the potential to earn nearly 60 percent more than his high school graduate counterpart. This is a great starting point for degree or diploma studies” says Damons. Damons says that we are spoilt for choice these days. No longer do you choose between a BA or BCom, or a technical diploma. Higher education
today addresses specific needs with corporate and industry. “What we are looking to produce is graduates with skills that will enhance the workforce of an organisation, and increase productivity, “she says. “To ensure that this stakes place, our degree and diploma course design was completed only once sufficient discussion with successful businesses had taken place. This addresses the concern of unemployment, as the above bureaus stats on unemployment showed that for those with a 3-year post school qualification, the unemployment rate is nearly half that as for school leavers with no higher education. Along with these benefits, there are many others associated with Higher Education. Graduates are more likely to have career satisfaction, will probably be able to change careers more easily, be less likely to live in poverty and be better able to stimulate the economy. A side benefit for communities is that graduates are more likely to volunteer help the communities in which you reside. There are other personal and social benefits from a higher education. strong graduates who are work ready and willing to give back to their communities and to their country. At the same time as building their own careers. We continually update course material, and we introduce new courses regularly,” says Damons. Boston's detailed prospectus explains the various course categories that exist; how students can climb the education ladder through a full course or one module at a time; how credits work; and answers frequently asked questions that students have. According to Damons, a wide
range of study opportunities are available at Boston, as well as a range of course level. So you can select from a degree, various diploma and higher certificates, or short learning programmes in careers such as IT, management, HR, accounting, marketing and more. Boston caters for students fresh out of school that want to study fulltime as well as students that are presently employed and want to study parttime to update their skills. Course and learning programmes are modular, which means students can enrol for only a few modules or particular skills such as Bookkeeping
or graphics if they so choose. You can find out more about the various available course either online at www.boston.co.za or personally at a Boston support centre near to you. Applications for 2017 are open, with no application fees payable. To apply, obtain the 'application for admission form' online, fill it in and submit it with the necessary supporting documents. Note that minimum entry requirements and closing dates vary from course to course. Contact Boston Stanger on 032 551 5566 or visit the branch at Stanger Mall,55 King Shaka Street, Stanger.

Kidney Stones To: Dr Sbukiwe Patrick Dlamini &The Staff of Skulpat Wellness and Health Centre. I am an adult African male person aged 69 years, living at Maqumbi Reserve under Maphumulo Municipality in KwaZulu Natal Province. Professionally, I am a retired School Principal who last served the government in 2013. Many thanks to the above Wellness and Health Centre for the finest work done. Instead of being in the theatre to remove kidney stones, which was diagnosed on the 17-112015 from a private hospital in KZN where I was admitted as a patient. It is said that there were three closely related stones and they would have to be removed. Prior to my operation, I immediately requested my assigned doctor to grant me a temporary pass-out to my house. In consultation with the above Wellness Centre after using his [Dr Sbukiwe P. Dlamini] medication the stones disappeared completely from my system. Actually the largest stone measured 5mm in size. However I felt no pain nor discomfort in using Skulpat Wellness and Health Centre's diagnostic tools with their medication. On my return to my private hospital in question, on the 26-03-20 16 it was then discovered that there were no longer any stones in my body. Evident to this, are hospital reports from Ultrasound findings. It was noted that both kidneys were normal in position, size and outline. No hydronephrosis, hydroureter, renal calculi nor focal renal mass lesions noted. All these, were in black and white on the Hospital findings. Meaning that I narrowly escaped the so called “the stones operation” as the results I was officially discharged from Hospital. Really, I have every good reason to say “Thank you Skulpat Wellness and Health Centre for once again saving my life. Wishing you, Long Live Dr Sbukiwe P. Dlamini and save many more lives out there with a smile. Thank you Wellness and Health Centre Mr Bongani Gwamanda

REGISTRATION OF SERVICE PROVIDERS ON THE NATIONAL TREASURY CENTRAL SUPPLIERS DATABASE (CSD) This advert aims to inform all prospective service providers of the CSD system which was launched on the 1st September 2015 by National Treasury. Government has introduced several supply chain management reforms in order to modernise public procurement as per a Cabinet resolution dated 10th December 2014. In order to streamline the processes which made it difficult for various service providers to do business with the State, the CSD has been established to ensure one central point of supplier registration and to facilitate the verification of supplier information. With effect from the 1st July 2016, the various State Institutions may only utilise the services of service providers registered on the CSD. Prospective service providers, who have not yet registered, may register themselves directly by following the link: www.csd.gov.za The following information is required to complete the online registration: 1. Active Email Address (if not available, you will be assisted in creating an email address); 2. Cellphone Number; 3. Identity Number; 4. Tax Reference Number (if available); 5. Company Registration Number (if applicable); 6. Bank Account Details Prospective suppliers may also visit the Provincial Treasury Database office situated at: Treasury House, Ground Floor, 145 Chief Albert Luthuli Road, Pietermartizburg from 080015h00 Mondays to Fridays, for assistance with online registration on CSD.
RENOVATIONS: Ilembe Municipality Mayor, Cllr Sduduzo Gumede; Deputy Mayor of iLembe, Cllr Dolly Shandu; Deputy Mayor of Mandeni Municipality, Cllr Phindile Sishi; the Speaker of Mandeni, Cllr Makhosi Zungu; iLembe executive committee member, Cllr Makhosonke Maphumulo with other councillors and officials of the two municipalities outside the project site
Last week, the Mayor of iLembe District Municipality, Councillor Sduduzo Gumede and other political and administrative leaders of the municipality met with the contractor tasked with renovating the dilapidated iLembe offices in Mandeni. The contractor, Mabalengwe Engineers, is scheduled to upgrade and refurbish the site offices in the beginning of February
2017 with completion expected to take place in June this year. The new offices will accommodate eight working stations, reception area, manager's office, kitchen and sanitary infrastructure. The project is expected to employ temporal workers who are residing closest to the project site. “We are hopeful that the project will be a success and will be completed without any problems. We wish the project team all the best,” said Mayor Gumede.
New mall for Ndwedwe Municipality HIS WORSHIP: Mayor of Ndwedwe Municipality, Cllr. Nathi Chili after addressing the media about his plans to give his municipality a facelift.
By Xpress Reporter
Following the construction of Mandeni Mall in 2014 and the ongoing construction of Ballito Junction, another new mall is set to be built under Ndwedwe Municipality. According to the municipality's mayor, Cllr. Nathi Chili, a new mall called Bhamshela will be built in that area and the construction is due to start before June this year. “Local businesses will benefit largely from the construction of this mall, because we will work closely with them as suppliers and constructors. We realized the need to have our very own mall here after realizing that most of the people in this area waste a lot of money by going to Verulam and Tongaat to do their shopping and also local business people do not have their base where they can meet potential custormers,” said Chili. If it matters to you, it matters to us He added that during the construction of this mall more than 150 times north coast people will be hired and over 200 will be hired after it has been completed. MAMA ALISHA
2016 THE BEST YEAR OF MY LIFE- ALL THANKS TO MAMA ALISHA I am Mr Vijay Tinnet from Stanger Manor. I was a security guard for 15 years but had nothing to show as my salary too was small. I had fear to marry becuase I had fear that I couldn’t support a big family. One day I was chatting with Jan Corbus my previous work mate who had become rich so fast and he told me to go to Mama Alisha because she had helped him to get rich. He called her and told her he was sending me to her. The next day I went, she started with a prayer, then she told me to use a magic wallet. I took the magic wallet home, after only 3 days she had told me I woke up checked the wallet and here was a lot of money. I went back to her she said it will bring more. I bought myself a brand new range rover & A home in Umhlanga and also got married. I opened my own business thanks too Mama Alisha
MY WIFE TOLD ME TO GO TO HELL WHEN I WAS POOR BUT SHE WANTS ME BACK BECAUSE IM RICH I am Cliff from Umhlanga. I came to know about Mama Alisha from Auntie Merina who lives in Stanger and had previously visited her with a financial problem and it had been fixed. I had lost all my money, cars, business some of which was left to me by my late parents. When things went real bad. My wife told me to go to hell and started having affairs looking out for rich men and when I confronted her about it she told me go to hell, left me alone and went. I suffered for almost 2 years but meeting Mama Alisha rose me up again. She gave me a magic wallet with which I could get money daily inside my house. I opened up a new business worth 2 million rands bought 2 new cars and when my wife heard that I am up again she wants me back, thinking of forgiving her but am not sure. Only that she is the mother of my 3 kids. I can forgive her for only that. If Alisha bought my life back to normal, I know she can help you too.

In a iLembe and District Union T20 League match played at the Country Club grounds under overcast conditions on Saturday, Warriors Sport crushed Manor B by defeating them by a whopping 98 runs. Warriors Sport won the toss and skipper Rishen Mathapershad wisely chose to bat first. Opener Rayven Moodley got off to a great start before he was caught for 13 runs in the third over, after hitting a massive six. Justin Govender then took over the reigns and together with Amin Galli put on a partnership of 65 runs before Amin was bowled out by

Bilal Moolla (29 including three 4's) was the only batsman with double digit scores and hung on till the 12th over before he was caught by wicket keeper Someshan a la the famous “Faf” style. Nadasen was next to follow for 1, with the total on 44 in the 8th over. On a tricky Maidstone pitch, Sarwar was in a hurry as he posted a quick-fire 37 (four 4's, two 6's), before being bowled by Hoosen in the 9th. Y. Ismail was next to fall for 10, with iLembe 5 runs short of victory but R. Kazi 2* and Z. Ali 21* guided iLembe home to 80/4 in 12.5 overs.
