KwaDukuza Mall officially opens By Xpress Reporter
The KwaDukuza Mall officially opened on Friday, 28 September 2018 as KwaDukuza Municipality granted the developer, Double Ring Trading, a Temporary Conditional Occupation certificate. This follows a lot of uncertainty over the opening of the mall, which was expected to open for business on Thursday, 27 September 2018, but was obligated to close by the municipal council for a number of reasons relating to conditions of approval. KwaDukuza Municipality issued a statement saying that the developer was advised by the council to deal with such issues, as they were critical for the minimum qualification for the temporary occupation certificate. The developer had since worked around the clock to address key issues and thereafter invited the municipal task team to undertake another inspection on 27 September 2018, which the team noted remarkable progress and made recommendations to
council. On 28 September 2018, the KwaDukuza Executive Committee, acting in terms of Section 14 (1A) of the National Building Regulations and Building Standards Act 103 of 1977 approved a 'Temporal Occupation Certificate', which was applied for by Double Ring Trading. “This bold decision was welcomed by all political parties represented at the municipal council however the Executive Committee Members emphasized stringent conditions that the developer has to comply with, which have to be monitored by senior municipal managers. KwaDukuza Municipality continues to ensure that developers operate within the ambit of the law, in particular, Town Planning and Buildings Regulations and that enforcement is made without fear or favour, to those who don't comply with the regulations. “The stance of the municipality and its consistency has been applauded by a number of people who are involved in
the built -environment professionals and other investors. KwaDukuza Municipality continues to support such direct investments which contribute positively to the local economy. The KwaDukuza Mall remains a strategic investment project, which forms part of the strategic goal of ensuring that there are equal opportunities and fair distribution of developments. Another fuel price hike South Africa's fuel prices will rise once again on October 3 (today), with petrol going up by as much as R1 a litre, a statement from the energy department showed on Monday. The 95 grade of petrol will now cost a record high of R17.08 in the inland economic hub of Gauteng province and R16.49 at the coast, while the wholesale diesel price will rise by R1.24 to R15.64 and R15.16 in Gauteng and at the coast respectively.
Metrorail services were restored on Monday in Durban, but not in KwaDukuza after being suspended for almost two weeks. The suspension came after angry train commuters allegedly assaulted a train driver in KwaDukuza and torched a ticket office and four staff vehicles parked near the office in Umlazi. The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Mxolisi Kaunda denounced the alleged action by train commuters. “Preliminary investigations reveal that commuters went on a rampage after experiencing train delays. On Thursday, a female train driver was
attacked in Stanger by commuters and she is currently fighting for her life in hospital. Police will work around the clock to bring perpetrators to justice, and we acknowledge that PRASA is experiencing some challenges with the rolling stock which results in delays. No amount of anger can warrant damage to property whether public or private. As government, we have taken a decision that people who embark on illegal public protests and damage property must be charged criminally and be litigated individually,” said Kaunda. It is still unknown when train services will resume in KwaDukuza. PRASA

Continued from Page 1 municipality they are responsible for developing sustainable housing for its citizens. Speaking at the handover, Honourable Mayor, Ricardo Mthembu acknowledged that the Phase Four of the Etete Housing project encountered some turbulence, but ensured residents that government has prioritised delivery of basic necessities to try and improve the living conditions of our citizens, especially the poor. “A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. As KwaDukuza Municipality we are affirmative that this project will highly benefit the people of KwaDukuza as most of them are living in unbearable conditions. When
this project is complete it will accommodate at least 6000 people which is a very big margin. Projects of this magnitude also boosts the economy of this area as there are a number of jobs being created,” expressed Mthembu. The officials paid a visit to two elderly residents who had been living in Etete for almost 30 years. MEC Ravi Pillay officially opened a newly constructed house to a 72-year-old pensioner. Pillay said it's a slow progress but peoples' lives are changing. “We commit ourselves in empowering the lives of the people of South Africa. But the public needs to understand that the process of delivering sustainable houses requires a lot of r e s o u r c e s therefore we are unable to deliver at once,” said MEC Pillay. KwaDukuza Mall sees 11 000 shoppers on opening Press Release
KwaDukuza came alive with absolute elation over the weekend as the evening sky dazzled with a breathtaking fireworks display; costing R120,000, celebrating the official opening of KwaDukuza Mall, on Friday 28th September with 5000 locals looking up from the mall's car park and joining in on the celebrations. 50,000 joyful shoppers streamed into the mall over this weekend and stores buzzed as though it was the festive season; bustling over bumper trade and queues outside restaurants and banks. And much like the festive-feel demands, Checkers and Pick n Pay showed excellent customer service, going all out and extending trading hours from 7am to 10pm to accommodate the excited shoppers. Despite the massive crowds, the centre was equipped to manage their car park overturn with ease, ensuring minimal traffic disruptions. Now that sure adds the sense of comfort and convenience to one's shopping experience! The anticipation towards
the build-up of the opening has been showcased on the KwaDukuza Mall Facebook page, which has been providing the community with sneak-peaks since the beginning of September, receiving massive community support and a following of 10,000 subscribers in just the first week of its creation. While the opening function on the 26th September was a private one, the community received the full update to the tenants, construction teams and high ranking guests from the Ilembe region through this platform. During this grand event, Stanger's renowned Kuber Tambuti Singh, showered Mr. Vivian Reddy; property developer and mall owner, with heartfelt glowing tributes for his contribution to the community of the greater KwaDukuza area. Mr. Reddy's warm
presence was certainly felt when the mall opened its doors, as he was found mingling with the shoppers.
and congratulate him for providing a safe and modern mall in the area. Shoppers were highly thankful that they no longer have to travel to Ballito to experience the high-end shopping glamour of the stores that are now available right in their home town, at KwaDukuza Mall. Mr. Reddy said, “a return trip from Stanger to Ballito was 56km at an AA rate of R4.50, plus the two-way toll of R26 amounted to a fairly large amount of R278, not forgetting the travel time of 50 minutes for the entire trip, just to be able to experience high quality shopping.” KwaDukuza Mall is a sure travelling cost-saver for the Stanger community! And the community continued to show their thanks and appreciation by sharing their grateful congratulations to Mr. Reddy and the development team of KwaDukuza Mall on the
A large number of whom took much pleasure in posing for photographs with him and the opportunity to thank
mall's Facebook page. The mall kept the winning spirit at a peak, with one of its draw cards being a chance to win a Double-Cab to shoppers who spent R200 or more. Thousands of shoppers have already placed their entries into the entry boxes, crossing fingers for the chance to win. This vehicle is currently on display at the mall's centre court, and shoppers get to continue trying their hand at winning it, until the draw of the lucky winner in January. The excitement is sure to continue, as one of the big questions posed to Mr. Reddy, by the community was when he will be building cinemas in KwaDukuza. Well, Mr. Reddy is currently working in conjunction with the KwaDukuza Muslim Society to place a Musallah (prayer room) at the mall. So, the community should keep following up on the mall updates to get the answer to their cinema-question. The mall will be operating with the following time during opening week: Mon Sat: 9am 6pm Sun & Public Holidays: 9am 4pm Checkers and Pick n Pay: 8am 8pm Restaurants: 9am till late

Vinodhs Recyclers and General Marketing began twenty five years ago on a farm in Kearsney. On the 21st March 1992, Babu Sampath decided to leave a furniture manufacturing company to pursue a business venture, with no business experience he felt it was a challenge for him, but was worth pursuing. With the guidance from his father who worked as a farm manager, he felt this new venture will make his family successful one day. He first started with a half ton bakkie to collect waste paper and cardboard. With his assistant he collected from the bins of central Stanger from bin to bin. After a year he felt he needed to get new business. The first person he approached was his ex-boss to find out if he could supply him products for the manufacture of lounge suites. Three months down, he started to supply packaging and cardboard to his ex-boss plus other furniture manufacturers. Still with a 15 year old van he thought there is a need for a truck. With all of his savings, he purchased a three ton truck in 1994, with him growing in confidence, he hoped he could double his business. Now he was collecting waste from Richards bay to Durban. With more volumes & picking up a lot of salvage goods he felt he needed a bigger premises & retail outlet to get rid of the stuff. He then approached one of the furniture companies who arranged him a place in Isithebe. With his new salvage shop opened with a office and a premises for his goods, he employed his second staff for the office and a third staff for the salvage shop. Thinking now that he was in the big time and could make lots of money, he had something coming for him. With increased sales, comes increased expenses. With this mind the only way to be on top of things is to increase sales. With not a lot of money, this was not easy. The next year he employed a driver and a few assistants which would now give way for him to market for more business. The same year he purchased a van which he could work plus rep with. In 1998 with a staff of 12 everything seemed to be looking up for him. Sadly in 1998 he lost his dad. He always looked up to his dad, with the less income he earned, he was always ready to guide his son through rough waters. At the age of 28 he met the lady of his dreams, Nishana who he married in 2002. She is not only handling the finances of the company but is an excellent chef. On 24 September 2004, they welcomed a beautiful baby girl. With her, it completed their family and life brought on a whole new meaning. Yajna brings in a new kind of happiness which nothing else compares. Yajna has a good eye for business, often advices her dad on matters to improve the company. Out of all achievements, I have to say that

Buso who will be in charge of stock control, dispatch and manufacturing from their premise. They also use three outside contractors, SPS Transport, Desi Trans and Shahils transport. All the above mentioned contractors is still fully contracted to Vinodhs Recyclers. Babu expresses his thanks for their commitment in his company and hope they will grow together with our company. Also all the staff and contractors have become a part of the Food For Life team assisting in whichever way they can. Presently we are a company which deal with Marketing timber, specializing in reconditioning, second hand pallets, reclamation of timber and supplying timber components and boards to factories. Our clientele now comes from
customers by providing an efficient service at competitive prices. Currently Vinodhs Recyclers together with its companies, Renu Recycler, Nkosi Timber and Board, directly and indirectly employs a staff of 102. We also have a few main contractors and sub-contractors. Heading our Company is our Manager Vinod who oversees all our companies and managing of Vinodhs Recyclers. Our Admin is headed by Sunitha our Accountant and first staff, together with our Debtors clerk Tresha and our Receptionist Suhana. Prashen heads the maintenance and managing of Nkosi Timber and Joey handles the hiring of forklifts and dispatching timber. Babu Sampath praises his success for being honest, charitable and hard working and always having faith in God. His motto

my family is the biggest achievement of my life. Babu went on to say that his wife and daughter are very special in his life and attributes a lot to the company. Whatever spare time he has, is always spent with his family. During all of his hardships at the company, his wife always stood close to him. At the same time he formed another company called Renu Recyclers. Renu Recylcers being the sister company of Vinodhs Recyclers. The function of this company would be to salvage all goods for Vinodhs Recyclers. Our new formed company now established in Stanger would supply all goods to Vinodhs Recyclers for resale or recycling : with a staff of 42 together Vinodhs Recyclers ventured into new business from recycling paper and plastic to marketing raw materials, to lounge suite manufacturers, providing cleaning contracts to factories and mills, reclamation of pallets and timber, Vinodhs was a force to reckon with. In 2004 Vinodhs Recylcers became the biggest company in salvaging reclaimed timber and pallets in Kwazulu Natal. In the same year his daughter Yajna was born, who he hopes would follow in his footsteps. The company now being able to able to stand on its own feet decided that maintenance of old vehicles was very expensive and brought a lot of down time therefore he had to start to invest in new vehicles & to replace every 3 years. By 2009 Vinodhs Recyclers
having 4 new vehicles on the road decided it was time to purchase a piece of Industrial land in Stanger and move premises to Stanger. In April 2010 we started to build 2 warehouses on the site. In the same year we also decided to outsource a lot of our work for productivity and give our staff independence. With a staff of 42, 28 staff was outsourced. Vehicles were given to the drivers to maintain and hired on a daily basis to Vinodhs Recyclers. The balance of Vinodhs Recyclers sites were given to the supervisors together with the staff to maintain and supply to Vinodhs Recyclers. In March 2012 Vinodhs Recyclers moved to their own premises in 1 Yellowwood Road, Stanger. Also in 2012, beside his own premises he went on to rent 4 more premises in the industrial area close by the factory which will store pallets and timber that are repaired and manufactured. At the time he went into a joint venture with his 3 staffJugdesh, Kritesh and Patrick who will take over the installments of the vehicles (which was currently owned by Vinodhs Recyclers) and will be transferred on their names. Now they will become directors of their companies and contract their vehicles to Vinodhs Recyclers on an ongoing basis. Vinodhs Recyclers also leases another 3 properties in the industrial area. In 2014 in went on to outsource his 4 other premises to his other stuff members viz Jabulaan, Nhlahla and

At Vinodhs Recyclers we take pride of our Company & strive to excel in all worth pursuing. Our duty is to conduct business responsibly and profitably with our prime obligation being to serve our customers and the social and physical environment which we operate in. We believe that the future depends on the identifying and meeting the needs of our
is service to man is service to God. He says he is indebted to many of the furniture manufacturers and his staff who are always willing to support him at any time. He also proudly says that his business is one of the few businesses that can run efficiently without his presence. Attributing to train his staff to work independently. At present he is supplying timber which is turned to wooden components, bed manufactures, lounge suites and pallets sent around the world.

NKOSI TIMBER AND BOARDS BECAME A HOUSEHOLD NAME Nkosi Timber and Boards was established over 9 years ago, catering for the needs of the do it yourself enthusiast. From humble beginnings in a Âą 100m2 warehouse, the need arose to expand the operation. Now just nine years we have a premises five times bigger. We cater to those who have small projects at home and for large furniture and wood related manufactures. We specialize in boards, crating, structure and all other grades of timber Our material is used to manufacture beds, pallets, cabinets, furniture, lounge suites, built-in-cupboards, kitchen units, wardrobes, wendy houses, picket fences, shelving, partitions, building and D.I.Y projects. At our new premises patrons can shop at leisure in a wide open space with all items properly displayed and marked. So, if you have a project, big and small, need for timber or boards or a load of timber, visit us at 1 Yellowwood Road, Moola's industrial area. We stock all grades of Timber, Chipboard, Melamine, Supawood, Plyboard, Masonite and Foil Boards.
We at Vinodhs Recyclers believe that it is our moral responsibility of those like us who are more fortunate to assist those who are in need. We believe it is impossible for a single individual or a small group of individuals to shoulder the responsibility alone. Therefore we have taken up the challenge to help these organizations. Among the many organizations we assist we pay preference to the organization Food For Life- Feeding the hungry in KwaDukuza. Establishing a kitchen in 1992 at our factory, we supply 4000 plates of food a week in
KwaDukuza and surrounding areas, a mission to provide food for the starving. Food For Life headed by us together with the help of business houses and the public, feed weekly to the unemployed, homeless, pensioners, schools and street children, are just some of the needy who benefit from the initiative. Ideally our mission is to completely alleviate hunger in underprivileged areas. Besides serving 4000 meals every week come rain or shine, we also prepare and serve 27000 meals a year in April, June, July and September. On this day we have up to 400 volunteers from business and the public to assist this project. Together with your help (the public), you can play an integral part in alleviating hunger and building a stable Stanger and prosperous local community. Sponsorship can be made to honour a birthday, anniversary or in memory of a loved one. If you would like to support this initiative please feel free to call @ 1 Yellowood Road, phone 032
5524232 or 0824493879 or email info@fflkwadukuza.co.za for donations in cash or kind. If you feel there is a need for an area to feed please feel free to phone us. On the 3rd June 2017 together with 400 volunteers we served our 2nd millionth plates of free food in KwaDukuza. It would be greatly appreciated in whichever way you can assist us. Please feel free to assist us on this day as we plan to prepare 10000 plates. At present we are a joint venture with 18 local communities to distribute our meals in different areas. We are extremely grateful to our volunteers who selflessly give off their time and effort to assist us in the preparation of items for the cooking and distribution of food throughout the year, they are too many to mention. We believe the success of our company comes with giving charity. By distributing food directly to the poor, there is no way that public funds can be misused or abused.
L-R: Robert (contractor), Das, Vitara, Charmaine, Susheila, Buds, Nishana, Raj (contractor), Yajna, Thandeka (contractor), Urav, Tahir, Esha, Premilla, Natasha.
Come and join us as we celebrate 25 years of successful business. To celebrate this event you are invited to join us. Fun activities have been planned along with refreshments. As a gesture of gratitude there will be gifts for customers & those making purchases on the day.

MAMA ALISHA
SISTER SHAMMY
THANKS ALOT MAMA ALISHA I am Salashnee from Shakaville Stanger. I’m here to thank Mama Alisha for helping me sell my property at a reasonable price. I was a proud Mother of 3 kids and was happily married. But my life turned upside down in 2014 when I lost all my 3 kids and their father in a road accident. I survived because I was at work that day. Since then I have panic attacks, My families memories were killing me and I decided to sell the house in 2015. Many people used to call come see the house but they don’t come back up to when I went to MAMA ALISHA after reading about her in the newspaper. She came to the house , blessed it and told me she will do the rest at her place of work. I was surprised when just in two weeks a buyer was found and I was given a reasonable amount of money. For more help to sell or buy a property quickly and at a good price call or whatsapp

Impressive start for Flipside
Glenhills Primary School NOTICE OF CC RE REGISTRATION
95 Townview Road, Glenhills
Flipside kicked off their 2018 iLembe and District Cricket Union 50 over league in impressive fashion with victory over Pak International this past Sunday on a damp pitch. Pak won the toss and without hesitation put Flipside into bat. Wickets fell at regular intervals from one end but opener S. Veerarajoo held his nerve for a hard fought 45 which include 2 boundaries before being dismissed in the 22nd over. P. Naidoo was the only other batsmen to reach double figures, scoring 16 which included the only 6 of the game and a 4, Flipside were bundled out for what seemed to be a very low total of just 123 from 33 overs. Pak International went in to bat with the taste of victory. They got off to a flying start scoring 36 from the first 3 overs but with the fall of the first wicket by N. Pancham, Flipside smelt blood and went for the kill putting on a brilliant bowling performance, bowling out Pak Int. in the 17th over for just 56. A brilliant bowling performance from S.Pillay who claimed 4 for 9 and supported by P. Dhaver with 3 for 13 l e d t o P a k International's demise.

Students who passed their black belt examination with sensei Johnny Pillay (left), sensei Kuben Moodley (2nd from left), chief instructor sensei San Pillay (centre), and sensei Tarzan Naicker (right)
On Saturday 29 September, seven ISKF students from Stanger underwent their First Dan Black Belt examination. This is a dream come true for each of these students. It has taken many years of hard work, sheer dedication and commitment that has finally brought them to this level. However local instructors sensei Tarzan Naicker, Johnny Pillay and Kuben Moodley were taking no chances. They put these students on a stringent training program for almost a year in preparation for this grading. The hard word and perseverance paid off. After two gruelling training sessions leaving the students completely exhausted, they were then put through their paces by chief

instructor of ISKF sensei San Pillay, who is adamant on maintaining international standards which then sets ISKF apart. Pillay singled out the students from Stanger complimenting and praising their standard. The Stanger students passed with flying colours whilst some of their counterparts from other areas in KZN did not make the grade. The local instructors commented that they were extremely proud of their students. They mentioned that the real karate training is only beginning now after you achieve your black belt! Students who achieved their First Dan Black Belts were: Monisha Naidoo, Revashni Naicker, Senthil Govender, Shavir Dunarain, Ulen Reddy, Unel Rama and Lovisha Reddy. A representative of the parents, Mervyn Rama stated, “We are thankful to our instructors who have put in so much of effort and work into our children, it has never been easy. Our instructors have also been quite hard on these students. Thus making this coveted award so prestigious. Congratulations to all those who achieved their black belts. We are proud of you.” Classes are conducted at Stanger Manor Hall, RA Moodley Hall and Glenhills Multi-Purpose Centre.
