Last week, the National Assembly passed the Cybercrimes and Cybersecurity Bill, which introduces new laws about social media messages with penalties that include up to 3 years in jail. The Bill is primarily aimed at bringing South Africa in line with other countries' cyber laws as well as the ever-growing threat of cybercrime. It introduces three types of messages which can result in a fine or imprisonment for a period not exceeding three years, or to both a fine and imprisonment: A message which incites damage to property or violence, a message which threatens persons with damage to property or violence, a message which unlawfully contains an intimate image. Deputy Justice Minister John Jeffery issued a warning to South Africans that saying the wrong thing on social media can land them in jail.

iLembe apologises for water cuts Residents vent their frustration By Xpress Reporter

Residents of Oceanview and surrounding areas are furious with the lack of water supply from ILembe District Municipality. Water supply was off for almost two weeks, with sporadic supply in between. According to a resident, a water tanker was seen only once in the area. The resident, who wished to remain anonymous, allegedly spoke to an independen t company hired by ILembe to cut off water in the area from Saunders Reservoir (CBD

A joint operation between KwaDukuza Traffic and Crime Prevention, KwaDukuza SAPS, Local Security companies and community members yielded positive results on Friday 30 November 2018, as they arrested a number of suspects. According to the report released after the operation, 1 hijacked vehicle was recovered, a number of unlicensed business fines and notices were issued, a suspect holding up a store was arrested, as well as five suspects for a 2006 hijacking. The KwaDukuza SAPS spokesperson, Constable Sibusiso Khuzwayo cited that police units, security companies and community members were in full force taking the lead during the operation. “We work tireless to reduce crime and deter criminals from criminal acts. As police we are ensuring visibility of police in order to make KwaDukuza a safer place to live in. Through effective collaborative relationships with other statutory and voluntary organisations we can prevent crime activities in KwaDukuza. The operation yielded positive results,” said Khuzwayo. Police have appealed to the community to call 032 551 8206, 032 551 8209 or 112 (Toll free) if they spot criminal activities.

Minister Cele speaks out on social ills in Nkobongo By Xpress Reporter

South Africa's Minister of Police Gen. Bheki Cele graced a door to door campaign in ward 08 Nkobongo, KwaDukuza on Saturday 01 December 2018. He was accompanied by the leaders of the ANC Youth League in the General Gizenga Mpanza Region. Cele used the occasion to address issues overclouding the Nkobongo area and vowed that there are programmes in place to combat the rising crime statistics in the area. Party officials and volunteers went door to door urging residents to exercise their constitutional right and vote in the upcoming 2019 election. Ward Cllr Ali Ngidi

articulated that as the ANC in the region they are grateful to Mr Cele for his intervention in the issue of crime. “Our people are concerned over various social ills facing the area. We strongly believe there's going to be a change after today's visit from the minister. As a caring government we will continue to battle crime or any sort of activities that poses danger to our community,” said Ngidi. Ngidi also touched on the campaign itself and said he believes the ANC will be victorious in the upcoming election. “We have strength to lead and we continue liberating our people from poverty,” concluded Ngidi. They also spoke to firsttime voters in Ward 14 about the registration process.

Mandeni Local Municipality Mayor His worship, Sphesihle Zulu engaged in fruitful discussions with Finnish Ambassador to South Africa, His Excellency Kari Alanko on 28 November 2018. The core of the meeting was to discuss plans to revitalize Isithebe Industrial Area for the greater benefit of the people of Mandeni and surroundings. Speaking at the meeting, Zulu highlighted the significance of inclusive investments where locals will not only benefit through employment opportunities but through being contributors during construction phases, maintenance and day to day operations of the firms.

Adding to that, Zulu also emphasized on the importance of good working relations between big corporations, the Municipality and the community at large. “We need to have a project that will assist all people who want to secure business contracts at Isithebe. This should not target big businesses, it should target for example, people who want to cut grass, painting and day to day maintenance of business premises at Isithebe. We need to find a way to capacitate them, teach them about the processes that need to be followed in order to secure business deals. Let's create room for small businesses to

benefit from Isithebe Industrial Area” said Zulu. Bringing stability and making Isithebe an investor friendly zone was among the issues that were discussed on the day. Isithebe Industrial Area has over the years been clouded with violent protests thus causing a lot of big firms to vacate premises and take their operations elsewhere. “We need to encourage our people to raise issues, we have to also create a platform for engagements between the companies currently operating at Isithebe, the community and the Municipality. The same platform can be used to educate our people about the importance of these investors,

if we continue destroying infrastructure, companies will disinvest, causing more unemployment. In Mandeni, if you employ one person, at an average you have helped about nine more other people. If one person loses a job, nine more other people get dragged below poverty line.” Senior Officials from Metso (One of the largest companies currently housed at Isithebe) also formed part of the discussions, the meeting yielded positive results. Furthermore; Zulu also urged the companies within Isithebe to support social courses within our community, prioritize locals for subcontracts and employment opportunities.

corruption is one of the major priorities of government. Corruption in both the private and public sector has a detrimental effect on government's effort to deliver effective services to the people. Government through the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security (JCPS) Cluster has prioritised the fight against this scourge in line with government's zero tolerance stance towards corruption in the public and private sector. This day provides an opportunity for political leaders, governments, legal bodies and lobby groups to join forces against corruption. On this day anti-corruption advocates will engage the general public to effectively fight against corruption and fraud in communities.

If previous year's blood stock levels, over the same period, is anything to go by, we know that we have some tough times ahead,” says Sifiso Khoza, Regional Marketing Manager.

"Today, the SANBS asks the South African public for help. As we head into the busy holiday season, we are facing a particularly challenging situation and need blood and platelet donors to replenish the blood supply for hospital patients counting on us," said Khoza Every day, we depend on the generosity of volunteers to roll up a sleeve to help ensure lifesaving blood products are available for those in need, and today that need is urgent. In the Tshwane derby between Sundowns and Supersport United, it was a victory for the champions who are now 3 points behind the leader Orlando Pirates (24) with 3 matches in hand. They should overhaul Pirates and second-placed Wits before the Christmas break. It was
