DEMOLITION: A bulldozer is seen tearing down a house in Top Shop, Lot 14 Presented by Mystique Fashion

By Xpress Reporter
KwaDukuza Municipality has sparked outrage amongst the residents of Top Shop and Happy Valley in Lot 14 (KwaDukuza), after commencing with a programme to demolish houses built on land that was reportedly “illegally sold” to buyers by prominent leaders within the community. Residents could only watch in numbing terror as the bulldozer moved in on Monday morning, under the watchful eye of a heavy contingent of police and private security personnel. Panic spread through the area when allegations were made that the municipality was targeting 'Indian houses” only. However this allegation was quickly brushed aside by Sikhumbuzo Hlongwane, the Municipality's Executive Director for Economic Development and Planning, who said the municipality was acting in accordance with an interim high court order, which has allowed the municipality to demolish a number of identified “half built” and “unoccupied” houses. Hlongwane
said the municipality would be seeking a final court order, after which a number of completed houses would also be razed to the ground. He said the allegations about the municipality targeting “Indian houses” only were “completely unfounded”. An incensed community member accused the municipality of acting with a complete lack of consideration for those affected. The resident said some of the houses being targeted had been built years ago and had recently been electrified by the municipality. In a statement, KwaDukuza Municipality said, “KwaDukuza (Municipality), acting on a High Court Judgment, demolished an incomplete cottage facility in Glenhills, which was established illegally for the purpose of generating revenue for the illegal occupant. This structure was illegally acquired in an area that was earmarked for the Steve Biko, Phase 2 Low Income Housing Project that is under construction. This follows the finalization of a High Court Order on 08 September 2016, after being made aware of
illegal activities connected to selling, allocation, occupation of land in that part of our area”. Responding to this move, KwaDukuza Mayor Ricardo Mthembu said the municipality would not tolerate those who disrespected the Constitution and called on residents to be vigilant when buying land within the jurisdiction of KwaDukuza. “As ordered by the justice system, we are acting legally to ensure that land which has been acquired dishonestly there in that part of the country is retained for its original purpose which is to build houses. We have said time and again that utilizing municipal land illegally for narrow and selfserving interests is unacceptable as it constitutes non-compliance with the law. We are therefore sending a very clear message to those who continue to undermine our authority as a local planning and building agency that if one has land related interests within our jurisdiction, one should play by the rules and not be in the shadows as the law is decisive in nature and it is there to be enforced,” said Mthembu.

MANJRA'S...spicing up your life for 50 years!!
SERVICE EXCELLENCE: The friendly and efficient staff at Manjra's
This epic journey started in 1966, when I was just 21 years old. I came from Durban and took over the Ballim family business (The Seed Shop), a 2 50m shop, and called it Manjra's Seed House, which at that time sold groceries and a small range of seeds. I was a complete novice and didn't know much about the seed business. As time went on, my personal experience and interaction with farmers in the locality, saw me garnering much information. I observed that many big farmers had to travel to Durban to get their seeds, and this obviously impacted on their cost. After more meaningful research, I saw a niche for seeds, catering for

both the large and small farmers. So at that time I opened 'Manjra's Seed House', a move which proved to be very successful. Currently the demand for seeds has fallen quite significantly, as sugar-cane has taken precedence over cash crops. Despite that minor setback, we at 'Manjra's carry a very wide range of fresh, high quality seeds for large and small farmers. We are an officially registered seed supplier with the Department of Agriculture from 1967. As time went by, I diversified into Oriental spices, without compromising on quality. We pride ourselves in the purity and cleanliness of our products and the excellent spices that we manufacture. Our spices are of superior quality, with no bulk, dye or salt added in. We crush and grind the raw product as we obtain them and
produce our sensational spices, at customer friendly prices. We also made a special product, 'Mnandi' for the local indigenous people, who wanted mild spices, and this has gained in popularity. My wife Rehana has been a pillar of strength in our business, and I remain greatly indebted to her for her never-ending support. I am also grateful to Uncle Bharath (the spice fundi) and my entire loyal staff for their devotion to the business. About 20 years ago we expanded and I was joined by my son Aslam, who has a degree in Horticulture. Besides the top quality spices that we sell, we also cater for most electronic merchandise, watch repairs and undertake Vodacom contracts. We express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to our many loyal customers, who bear ample testimony to the excellent and refined quality of our spices. End of the road Eric Thembo returned home to find his house broken into. A bicycle, wooden door and two cellphones were stolen. Police followed up on a tip-off given to them and arrested one culprit. He pointed out a buyer of a Blackberry cellphone which he sold for R50. The buyer cooperated with police and returned the phone. The culprit, realising the game was over, pointed out his co-accused who broke into the house with him. Prince Khumalo (25) and Goodnews Masuku (26) have been remanded in custody pending a bail consideration. Good fellows Beauty Mthiyane believed she was being pranked when she awoke and found her television set missing from the lounge. She reported a case of housebreaking and notified her friends and neighbours. Two weeks later police received a report that someone had been arrested for the incident. To their surprise, they arrived in the area and found that the community had tracked down the culprit, recovered the television and got hold of the buyer for them. Sadam Pelembe (23) has been remanded in custody pending a bail consideration. Snuffing about Ntomboxolo Gcebu of New Guelderland alleges that she visited her neighbour's house for snuff where alcohol was flowing freely. Due to her disability, she was jeered at by the lady of the house. Gcebu alleges she left, however, the woman followed her, drew a knife and stabbed her several times all over her body. She was taken to hospital and kept overnight. Ntombi Lindela (56) was arrested and charged with assault with intent to cause serious bodily harm. She is due back at court on 24 November 2016. Senseless attack Hours after celebrating Cultural Day a youth lay dead after a senseless attack. According to the brother of the deceased they were returning home at 1:30am after a night vigil at Shakaville. They met two persons from whom his brother requested a cigarette. An argument ensued and two others joined in the fray. The brother's version is verified by another person who was at a local drinking place where the incident occurred. The group began assaulting Goodenough Xulu and dragged him along the tarmac. His body was found by a passerby with his hands and feet bound. Paramedics certified him dead at the scene. With the help of the independent witness, Sphelelo Biyela (32) and Siyanda Masondo (31) were arrested at about 11am on the day of the attack. They will apply for bail this week.

KwaDukuza businesswomen have joined forces in a quest to assist school girls with their basic sanitary needs. The group, called 'Frendz in Deed' was founded by businesswoman, Sarah Bee Khan, who said that the women were keen on getting on board to help with the collection and distribution of sanitary towels.
“All the women I approached were enthusiastic and came up with brilliant ideas and plans on how to approach this venture. “We are made up of a multi-racial , multi-religious group of ladies. Our mission statement is simple: giving back pride and dignity to our girls,” said Khan. She added that the idea was born when she heard of the death of race car driver, Gugu Zulu on Mount Kilimanjaro, who was also on a mission to bring dignity to school girls. LASER stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. LASER THERAPY is becoming increasingly popular as an alternate pain management technique and for the promotion of diabetic wound healing. What is it? LASER therapy makes use of intense beams of light that are focused onto the treatment
area to reduce pain and promote healing. It does so by accelerating inflamed tissue recovery, promoting cell regeneration and circulation for the purpose of eliminating pain. It is a non-invasive technique, i.e. it does not break the skin. We are now offering LASER therapy for the treatment of: *diabetic wounds/ulcers -
improved healing and closure *neck and back pain *arthritis and joint pain *muscle strains and ligament sprains *reducing the appearance of scars (surgical or otherwise) *reducing the appearance of stretch marks, wrinkles and cellulite Call us today to find out more!

Then I also choose to use a MAGIC WALLET that gives me each and everyday R10,000 and I payed every week since I was very busy that I could not even meet him at his place I decided to ask him to deliever it to me but he sent it through a speed courier service and I receieved it next day. Same time I started getting the money. I just want to tell the world that any person can be helped by BAABA MUGO either you black, indian, coloured or white like me. WHAT ELSE CAN I SAY TO THE PEOPLE IF AM SERVED BY THIS MAN BAABA MUGO Am Moses Mohlabi from Free State and my contact is 076 034 0714. I saw a testimony of this black man called John. And thought he was just joking to people that BAABA MUGO use the short boys to put a lot of money in the bank acceptant in 2 hours. But it was like a dream to me since I was just trying to get a help because I also lost a lot of money to many people then I just loose hope that magic can not happen in this world to me. I ask BAABA MUGO to help to put money in my house because I don't have the bank account and we were all shocked in the morning with my wife to see R1,000,000 that I request was in my wardrobe, and I payed him 10% from same money into his account. My wife also decided to contact BAABA MUGO for lucky numbers for power ball and we were very very happy on the Saturday to see all the 6 lucky numbers were out. iLembe scrape home in derby against Dawnheights iLembe continued their winning streak in the KwaZulu Natal Cricket Union T20 clash when they defeated arch rivals Dawnheights at Sirpat Roads grounds, Reservoir Hills this past Sunday. This comes after their impressive double header away from home a fortnight ago in defence of their title. Dawnheights won the toss and decided to bat first on a tricky Sirpat pitch. Dawnheights decision to bat first backfired as they could on only compile a paltry 91/8 in 20 overs. The iLembe bowlers were at their miserly best as they removed the Dawnheights top 5 batsmen for 28 runs. Dillon Rautenbach, a former iLembe player now batting for
the other side, was the stand out batsmen for Dawnheights posting 37 not out. He was well supported by A. Maharaj who score 11. The top bowler for iLembe was Comfort Shange who impressed with figures of 3/7 from 4 overs. Chasing 92 runs for victory at a calm rate of 4.6 to the over, iLembe got off to a poor start and were in dire straits at 31/4 in the 9th over. Y. Moosa, making his debut for iLembe, and Bilal Ismail tried to rebuild the innings by putting on 17 runs before Ismail was caught of the bowling of L. Moodley for 4. The next 3 wickets fell for 32 runs with the Dawnheights bowlers taking wickets at regular intervals. With the score on 82/8 after 17
overs the match was in the peculiar balance as Dawnheights needed 2 wickets and iLembe needed 10 runs for victory. You could smell the tension in the air but it was the iLembe batsmen R. Kazi (11 not out) and Desigan Pillay (3 not out) who held their nerve to see iLembe home. Dawnheights bowlers tried their best with L. Moodley 4/33 in 4 overs, A. Maharaj 2/11 in 4 overs and Rautenbach 2/13 after 4 overs sharing the spoils. i L e m b e scraped home in the derby by 2 wickets.

Darnall favourites to lift Moon & Sons volleyball cup
Darnall United have reaffirmed themselves as favourites to lift the Moon & Sons Agency sponsored volleyball knock out tournament for Division I teams after securing an easy passage into the semi-finals after beating Sunbrook in the preliminary rounds hosted by KwaDukuza Volleyball Association last Thursday at the association courts. Sunbrook were hoping to take the cup to Stanger Heights in honour of their manager and sponsor, Devan Moosamy but their hopes were dented by the undefeated Division I champions. Sunbrook faced a rampant Darnall outfit with Sheldon 'Ponch' Milligan in rampant form. Darnall easily won 2518, 25-16 to secure their semi-final berth against the youthful Preston whom they
should easily overcome. Cool Leaders also secured their place in the semi-final with a fluent 25-12, 25-16 victory over Manor Old Boys. They will face their arch rivals Frendz in the other semi-final. This is a tricky fixture as both teams are known for upsets. Volleyball pundits have however predicted a Cool Leaders/Darnall final with Darnall emerging as champions. The semi-finals take place tomorrow night with the finals and play-offs scheduled for next Thursday. Meanwhile, in the KDVA EZE's Electrical Premier League, Grove End continued their dominance with double victories last Thursday. They beat arch rivals Randsons 25-15, 25-23 before rounding off their perfect evening beating
former champions KSST 2517, 25-23.
