he African National Congress under Greater KwaDukuza Region staged a proZuma march on Tuesday, 08 August 2017. The march was initially scheduled for Monday, 07 August 2017 before Speaker of the National Assembly, Baleka Mbete could declare whether she grants the secret ballot voting process or not on the motion of no confidence against President Jacob Zuma. Mbete declared on Monday that the motion will be voted for using a secret ballot which the opposition parties have been trying to land on various attempts. The voting took place at the National Assembly sitting on Tuesday. Previously, when voting on the motion of no confidence against Zuma, members of parliament had to vote in full view of the house. In a statement issued by the Greater KwaDukuza Region, the party said it is protesting to ensure that they “defend President Jacob Zuma's removal by bourgeoisies and self-

Demonstrators march in support of Zuma
Continued from page 1 democracy and the integrity of the ANC but rather to enrich/position themselves” The march commenced from SADTU Park, near KwaDukuza Clinic and marchers made their way to KwaDukuza Magistrates Court where a memorandum was submitted.
Among the things that were stipulated in the memorandum is that the region wanted to show solidarity with the vast majority of South Africans who voted for the ANC. While addressing the scores of ANC supporters, Greater KwaDukuza chairperson, Ricardo Mthembu praised
Jacob Zuma for his contribution. “Zuma has done what no other president has done, which is to break alliances with the western countries who were forcing us to eat sub-standard chickens and follow their commands” “We will not be told by opposition parties who
should or should not lead us. The DA undermines the ANC to the point where they want to decide for us who should lead our party,” said Mthembu. The regional Chairperson also took time to lament ANC Members of Parliament, most notably Makhosi Khoza. “There are ANC members

who say, 'all is well' in South Africa, because they have been deployed in Parliament and they no longer care about the rest of the people who still suffer.” Mthembu also questioned the logic behind the statements made by opposition parties urging ANC members to vote using their conscience. “If you vote for the ANC they say you have no conscience but if you vote with them they say it is okay,” he said. M t h e m b u concluded by urging ANC members to unite now more than ever because opposition parties are using Jacob Zuma's name in order to try and overthrow the government they elected. Pro-Zuma marches were also staged in various other parts of the country.

Spokesperson, Mr. Sibusiso Ntuli, bad working conditions were among the reasons why they opted to do site inspections at the aforementioned projects. “From what we heard, employees were being hired and fired like nobody's business. We also received complaints about the bad attitude of the manager on duty at one of the sites, so we decided to go see for ourselves and find out how we can help” said Ntuli before concluding by saying, “We will continue visiting all the sites which are currently running projects under Maphumulo area and we will continue with these visits until we are satisfied about the projects.”
Maphumulo Business Forum in conjunction with Maphumulo Municipality and contractors overseeing four major projects currently being rolled out at this area have agreed to launch an investigation which will seek to resolve complaints by employees and the public regarding the working conditions at these sites. On 02 August 2017, the Business forum visited, WBHO housing Project, Water Scheme Project, DSD office renovation project as well as the Sindi Housing Project. The visits came as a follow up to community complaints regarding the attitude of site manager and unfair dismissal of employees. According to Maphumulo Business Forum

Innovative home schooling at your doorstep The Founder of Educational Excellence and Wellbeing (EEWB), Specialist Independent Alternative Schools, Mr. JP Thangavalu is proud to announce the opening of their new Home school starting January 2018. The School will provide education for learners from grades 1 - 12. The Home school will be a collaboration with Mrs S Govender (079 9084 103) and her Masterminds Home Schooling. Based at the current Educational Excellence School in Stanger Manor, the Homeschool program will run from 8.30am -1pm Mon -Fri. The curriculum will cater for all subjects at all levels. For the future the school will offer international qualifications as well. The approach to Home schooling adopted by Educational Excellence is one of a personalised pupil centered ethos with engaging parents as part of the solution. Mr Thangavalu says that ` We adopt a holistic approach to education that involves a multi
agency collaborative working methodology.` EEWB recognises that parents are dissatisfied with current education trends and outcomes and it therefore offers an alternative that is realistic, safe and well structured. EEWB believe that a child's emotional wellbeing is a key factor that needs addressing prior to achieving academic success. The schools early intervention systems with wellbeing mentors provide this support as part of the solution. At EEWB staff are effectively trained to identify the learning style of each child and then differentiate the delivery to meet the child's needs. To provide further one to one support, the school will provide Learner support assistants to meet the needs of pupils on an individual basis. Monitoring, recording and reporting are key aspects of effective pupil progress at the school. All learners will undertake baseline assessments to establish initial data and target setting
thereafter. Monitoring the progress continuously through the schools bespoke information management systems allow all learners to be tracked and the measure of academic progress data is correlated with behaviour and attendance. Parents and pupils have direct access to view performance at anytime from anywhere via the real time data management system. At the centre of the schools effective quality assurance and performance management policies, is the safeguarding of pupils. This is a matter that the school takes the utmost care in. Parents can be rest assured that the implementation of the schools safeguarding policies is effective with designated safeguarding leads that are internationally trained as per the organizations international protocols. This is well explained when parents are taken through an effective induction program upon registration. Whilst we aim to raise academic levels, at EEWB we

believe that the preservation of family values, culture and identity is core. Our learners leave us as well defined and responsible members of society carrying their family name proudly. This is an intrinsic value embedded in the schools ethos. The school aims to assist its learners in making informed decisions in career choices by providing independent guidance on post matric pathways both locally and internationally. The school still provides it's after school tuition services for all learners which is popular among those that are the serious and not looking for quick fixes but long term consistency. Ablution facility for taxi rank
MUCH NEEDED: KwaDukuza Deputy Mayor, Councillor Dolly Govender with jovial community members and KwaDukuza Municipality staff
By Xpress Reporter
KwaDukuza Municipality Deputy Mayor, Councillor Dolly Govender, has handed over a much needed R200 000,00 ablution facility to the Stanger TaxiAssociation. The project was embarked to ensure that Stanger Taxi Rank commuters are provided with an ablution facility. Though this is a temporary measure, it was
done to ensure a fresh and hygienic environment for the commuters as well as the CBD. Deputy Mayor Govender shared a brief timeline of the project with the commuters and expressed that there are many developments still to come that will change the face of the taxi rank, as the municipality plans to make the rank a multi-modal facility that will see a
conjunction between the taxi rank and train station. Community Services Executive Director Siyabonga Khanyile, told the Stanger Taxi Association leadership and commuters that there will be a person allocated by the Municipality to ensure that the facility is clean. “We appeal to the commuters to keep the facility clean, said Khanyile.

Council meeting focuses on service delivery The KwaDukuza Municipal Council held a Special Meeting on Thursday, 27 July 2017, to discuss a wide range of issues with a sharp focus on service delivery. Council agreed to engage private landowners due to non-availability of municipal owned land to construct a crèche on Ward 16, at Nyonimanzi sub-ward. “The Municipality over the few years has been allocating capital budget for the establishment of crèches (early childhood development centres) as per community needs identified in the IDP. To date an amount of R1,309,912 has been allocated for the construction of a crèche in Ward
16; however the key concern is that the land around the sub-ward is privately owned. The Municipal Manager has been granted authority to engage the private landowners on acquiring the land for the purposes of building of the crèche.” Council noted that the KwaDukuza Municipality's Public Participation Unit (PPU) is currently engaged in visiting Ward Committees to, amongst other things, assess their functionality and check issues they are faced with, in the performance of their duties. “During the visitations, the municipality is set to assist ward committees on how to approach
various challenges they are faced with, provide guidance on how to coopt members on to the structures. It has been noted that some committees have lost members due to death, lack of interest as well as relocation. The process also assists to update the contacts database of the ward committee members, which is critical in the dissemination of important as well as urgent information to the ward committee members for further cascading to members of the community.” With regard to the fourth quarter budget and performance assessment: “The Fourth Quarter Budgeted Operating Revenue for the
2016/2017 financial year was R1,362,000. As per the Fourth Quarter Assessment, the actual revenue collected to date is R1,376,600. The Municipality achieved a positive variance of R14,6 million in the Fourth Quarter. The Fourth Quarter Budgeted O p e r a t i n g Date : Tuesday, 15 August 2017 Expenditure for the 2016/17 financial Venue : 19 Rose Road Shree y e a r w a s Hanuman Temple R1,338,200. As per the Fourth Quarter Time : 6pm until midnight Assessment, the actual expenditure Prasad and Meals will be served.

own a business in KwaDukuza,” said the businessman who asked not to be named. “It would also be nice to know if they have plans according to the bylaws of KwaDukuza” further commented the businessman before questioning the legality of having
food outlets and salons operating at close proximity to one another as is the case at the rank. “It's illegal as well, you can't have food being sold near a salon. And even the cars are parked on the pavements daily.” KwaDukuza Municipality was
contacted for a comment and to provide clarity on the legality of these stalls but no response was offered at the time of going to press.

BUSINESS PREMISE: The alleged illegal vendor stalls at KwaDukuza Taxi Rank in the CBD.
By Xpress reporter
KwaDukuza Taxi Rank is a hive of activity on a day to day basis and is the centre of the town's economy, playing a major role in getting customers to and from the Central Business District. The Taxi rank has over the years been associated with a number of alleged illegal activities, some unseen and others occurring in broad daylight. With regards to the latter, look no further than the alleged illegal vendor stalls blocking the pavements on Balcomb Street. These stalls have been a subject of criticism from various people and one KwaDukuza rate payer has lamented the municipality for failure to have them removed or legalised. “I have been sending requests to the municipality for over a year now and they are yet to provide answers on who the vendor stall owners pay sewer rates to, lights, business licences and all other requirements to
to date is R1,306,300. There is a negative variance of R55,2 million that has been recorded in the fourth quarter of 2016/2017 financial year. The budgeted amount as at the fourth quarter revenue for 2016/2017 was R1,362,000. The actual revenue recognised is R1,376,000 which implies that we have realised a negative variance of approximately R14,6 million in revenue.”

REFLECTIONS OF THE SOUL
The essence of being a WOMAN You are an emotional being, so gentle, caring and sensitive, yet so STRONG. You go through life carrying the weight of the world but seldom stop to notice how truly amazing you are. You have locked up all the painful emotions just to maintain your brave smile. Yes you are remarkably resilient and brilliant at masking your troubles. You care for all those around you and give of yourself so selflessly. Do you ever stop to recognise your worth? Your spirit is filled with love; every act of service is done from the heart. You take care of your children and cook the food, not to be called superwoman, but solely out of PURE LOVE. I wonder if you have ever stopped and looked into the mirror to tell the woman in the reflection: 'I love you'. You are such a kind being, you care so deeply for everyone around you. How often are you making time to care about you; to spend time nurturing and honouring your body, mind and soul? Be kind to yourself by loving yourself unconditionally, and through regular self-care and ME TIME! Remember, you are not alone in your struggles. There have been many before you who have tread the same path. Reach out for support and be compassionate to YOU for a change. You are always the one to offer your whole-hearted assistance. Be open to receiving all the support and upliftment that you need. Isn't it you who deserves a loving hand and a warm embrace? Allow others to spoil and care for you, for a change...you so deserve it! You have always put others before you at the expense of your inner happiness. You thought nothing of compromising your wishes for the sake of others. Did you ever stop to think what really makes you HAPPY? You have sacrificed
your dreams for the sake of your family and often thought it was impossible to achieve your deepest desires. Instead, you settled for living your dreams through your children's successes. Did you ever stop to ask yourself - when is it my turn to SHINE? Make yourself a priority in life... When you empower and enhance your OWN light, you are in a better position to assist and guide those who you care deeply for. Cultivate this amazing relationship with yourself, which is built on the strong foundation of self love, self respect and self acknowledgement. Watch your relationships flourish and grow when you stop to recognise your true worth and authentic self. You are a beautiful priceless diamond, whose value cannot be measured against anyone or anything... You are indeed a unique precious being that adds VALUE and SPLENDOUR to the world, simply because you are a WOMAN. Yes, the time has come for you to step into your DIVINE LIGHT and SHINE bright like the DIAMOND you truly are!! HAPPY WOMEN'S DAY!...Stay blessed, empowered and uplifted... You are unique Recently in an interview, I was asked what advice I can impart to Young Women starting their own business & careers. I decided to share TWO simple stories to demonstrate that you can't please everyone all the time and to focus on the positive side of life. The 1st story is about: a young lady called ANN who had just completed a course on painting under the guidance of a world renowned Painter. After a few years of studying she passed with flying colours. Her Parents, her Teacher and Friends were proud of her BUT she still wanted other peoples' opinion about her work & skills. So she spent days on a beautiful Painting which she then displayed in a busy market with a note next to it saying “ Please put a cross wherever you see a mistake.” She left & came back after a while, she was completely shattered to see that her Painting was covered with crosses. She went to her Teacher & Parents and told them that she is useless and she won't paint again. Her wise Teacher told her that he will prove to her that she is an excellent Painter. So he took one of his Masterpieces & did the same thing, he put it out in the Market and asked People to please put a cross wherever they see a mistake. Low and Behold! - when he returned he found that his Masterpiece was covered with crosses and negative comments!
22 WITH
SARAH BEE
Sarah is an independent counsellor and writes in her personal capacity. The views expressed by her does not necessarily reflect that of this paper.
He showed this to ANN and told her that people can find flaws even in perfection if you give them a chance. He told her not to get carried away or judge her self-worth with someone else's negative remarks and opinion. The 2nd story: A Professor handed out sheets of paper to his students, they turned it over and there was nothing but a Black Dot in the middle of the white paper. He then said “I want you all to write down what you see there” The perplexed students began to write and when they were done, the Professor read out what was written and without exception everyone focussed on the Black Dot & wrote about it, no one wrote about the white part of the paper. The same happens in our lives, we Focus on the Dark Spots, our life is so full of good things but most of us will Focus on what's not going right & fail to see the Big Picture! Remember, you are Unique & you have your own set of Talents which is a Gift from God to you & what you do with that Gift is your Gift to God. So be happy & content, stay positive and smile, have a wonderful Women's Day.

Councillor Dolly Shandu iLembe District Municipality Deputy Mayor
When talking about influential women residing in iLembe district, one guarantees that the name of the Deputy Mayor, Cllr. Dolly Shandu will surely appear in the top five. In honouring her dedication and selfless struggle for the emancipation of women, the Xpress Times took some time to offer her the opportunity to impart her knowledge and share her insight about the significance of women's month. Shandu was born and bred at Mtubatuba and relocated to Mandeni after getting married. She has been a councillor since 1996, serving the community of Mandeni. She has been part of the ILembe District Municipality hierarchy since 2011 and is also the Deputy Chairperson of the ANC Women's League in KwaZulu-Natal. Her notion on women is, “Women are like glue that can bind just about anything together, women are God's final touch” said Shandu before citing that she will always strive to uplift women from poverty, unemployment and abuse. “Abuse goes beyond physical assault but being denied studying opportunities and room for growth and independence can also be viewed as abuse,” said Shandu. She went on to urge women to endorse the 'I can do it' mentality. “My message to all the women is to trust yourselves, know your worth and also know that you have a huge role to play in society. Also, break barriers and try to uplift other women to live beyond hardships and setbacks. Be independent.” Shandu concluded by urging single mothers to always be strong and also cited that she has a strong connection with them having lost her husband and raising four kids by herself.
Councillor Dolly Govender KwaDukuza Municipality Deputy Mayor
Deputy Mayor of KwaDukuza, Councillor Dolly Govender is the epitome of strength and grace. Affectionately known as “Aunty Dolly” by residents, Govender prides herself on serving the community to the best of her ability. Govender can always be spotted in a fabulous sari and is renowned for her quick response and hands-on approach. It is evident that this gracious lady is a go-getter who is always on the move. Govender describes herself as “a simple woman who has a passion to work with my superior and achieve my goals and vision in addressing the challenges faced by our communities.” Despite challenges, this single mother has persevered and proven to be a force to be reckoned with. “From a very young age it was an uphill struggle. With all of this, I still fought the battle to continue my journey of life to be someone who will be recognized. This had come to be because of my spiritual belief which is the most important aspect of my life.” Residents from all areas in KwaDukuza have spoken to the Xpress Times, bearing testament to her willingness to assist them with challenges. Govender says that she is always on the fast lane when it comes to service delivery issues. Her toughest challenge is “meeting the needs of all people in the shortest space of time.” “I do admit that I cannot address all the issues. Rome was not built in one day,” she said. With regard to Women's Day, Govender said that women have risen to leadership positions and are constantly educating themselves. “The 1956 Women's March left a legacy and created a platform for the future generation. Women struggled to go forward with limited resources. Today, there should be no excuses to be who you want to be.”
Sarah Bee Khan Businesswoman and P.R.O of Hospice

Besides spending her time making clients look fabulous, Khan also serves as the Hospice P.R.O and says that helping people has always been her passion. “There are people who need help and I am always willing to make a difference. I have a lot of love for children and elderly people. Last year, I started a new project, with the help of a few businesswomen called “Frendz in Need” we went about collecting sanitary towels and distributing it to schools.” Khan cites her husband, Mr Zaf Khan as her pillar of strength who has always supported her. “My husband has always been my backbone and he has always encouraged me over the years,” she said. When asked what Women's Month means to her, Khan said that it is a time to focus on how we can uplift ourselves. “It is easy to celebrate Women's Day once a year and focus on uplifting each other, but the challenge is carrying it forward. We need to celebrate Women's Day every single day.”

motivation from my family, colleagues as well as my boss who gave me the opportunity to succeed,” she said. She believes that women are unique and strong. “Women face so many challenges, but it is our strength and resilience that helps us to overcome. Women can multitask and handle any situation.” Florence encourages women to have faith in God and to persevere in all circumstances. “Always put God first. Be strong and courageous,” she said.

I am also very good at organising school functions” said Bonisiwe before adding that she relies on God to provide her with strength to prosper. Bonisiwe said that Women's Day is important to remind us of the struggles women had to endure during apartheid and on a day to day basis. “It is really nice to have a special day for women from all walks of life, where they are appreciated and honoured for their contributions.”

After an impressive victory over the formidable Warriors Sporting, Frendz Volleyball Club continued their resurgence in the KwaDukuza Volleyball Association Natdale Insulation Division I volleyball league defeating arch rivals Cool Leaders last Wednesday. Frendz started off the game full of energy outclassing the normally court cover specialists Cool Leaders with their powerful attack and deft touches. Cool Leaders, known as the diesel engine starters, had little to offer in the opening set. Frendz cruised to a comfortable 25-8 win. The change of sides seemed to spur Cool Leaders as they shifted from their reverse gear into top gear as they took the game to Frendz and rattled them all the way for a convincing 25-16 victory and levelling the scores at 11 and forcing the game into the third and decisive set. The final set saw both teams come out equally hungry for their bragging rights, matching each other at every point. Nothing separated the sides but Frendz held on for a close 15-13 victory. In the previous games, Cool Leaders beat Glenhills 25-22, 25-21 with Sunbrook narrowly beating Manor Old Boys 25-15, 1825, 15-8 whilst Preston accounted for MOB 25-17, 25-18. At the start of the 2nd matches of the second round fixtures in the KDVA Premier League, title contenders Randsons and Grove End I continued their impressive start with victories over Grove End II and KSST. Randsons beat Grove End II 24-26, 25-16, 15-7 whilst Grove End I beat KSST 25-22, 25-22. Darnall's unbeaten run continued with a convincing 25-17, 25-19 over Glenhills and repeated the feat with a demolishing 25-12, 2-16 victory over Preston. Guardiola leads chase of Chelsea Empowered by a closeseason transfer splurge of some £200 million, Manchester City are the early favourites to topple Premier League champions Chelsea. Pep Guardiola endured a bruising first season in English football as City failed to challenge for the title, eventually finishing 15 points adrift of Chelsea in third place. The club reacted with a glut of new signings -- three new full-backs in Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy and Danilo, plus goalkeeper Ederson and playmaker Bernardo Silva -- and now look a force to be reckoned with. "I think Manchester City are the team to beat," said Manchester United great Ryan Giggs in a recent Sky Sports column.
"I looked at them towards the end of last season and the forward players they've got is scary." While City shimmered in attack, they frequently looked vulnerable in defence and re-sculpting the back four has been Guardiola's main priority. Brazilian Ederson replaces the error-prone Claudio Bravo in goal, while dynamic pair Walker and Mendy will add thrust on the flanks after becoming the world's two most expensive defenders. City also have John Stones and Eliaquim Mangala on their books, giving them four of the most expensive defenders ever, but with total spending in the league having exceeded £900 million, Guardiola is unrepentant. "I would like to pay less for

Antonio Rudiger brings extra defensive cover, but Chelsea still look a few players short. In the meantime, manager Antonio Conte says his main priority is to avoid what he has cheekily called "the Mourinho season" in reference to the 10th-place finish that followed Chelsea's 2015 title win.
AMBITIOUS EVERTON Chelsea were sensationally upstaged by Arsenal in last season's FA Cup final and lost to them again in Sunday's Community Shield, but Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger retains little margin for error. While Wenger has pulled off the big-name signing of Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are now in the last years of their contracts and fan dissent will quickly return if results go awry. Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham Hotspur are trusting in the same formula that swept them to second place last season and must adapt to a new temporary
home at Wembley while White Hart Lane is rebuilt. Fourth last season, Liverpool have signed relatively modestly, adding Mohamed Salah, Dominic Solanke and Andrew Robertson to their ranks. Both Jurgen Klopp's team and their title rivals will be mindful of the menace posed by Everton, whose ambitious transfer dealings articulate their determination to crash the top six. Everton have splashed out on young English talents like Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane, as well as bringing Wayne Rooney back to the club after his recordbreaking 13-year spell at Manchester United. Having secured promotion from the Championship alongside Newcastle United, Brighton and Hove Albion and Huddersfield Town return to the top flight for the first time in 34 and 45 years respectively. In a novelty for the 201718 season, players suspected of diving will face retrospective disciplinary action that could result in two-game suspensions.
