Three people were killed while other four were injured on Saturday 07 August 2021 when multiple vehicles collided on the N2 between KwaDukuza and Zinkwazi. According to IPSS Medical Rescue, seven people were involved, three of which lost their lives. “IPSS Medical Rescue advanced life support paramedics were working to manage the scene which was being hampered by looters who are ridding the truck of its cargo. It is alleged that a vehicle was overtaking multiple
vehicles when it lost control and hit the truck, which in turn struck several cars,” said IPSS Medical Rescue in a statement. KwaDukuza SAPS confirmed that three people were killed in this heart-wrenching accident, “I can confirm an accident occurred on Saturday, 7 August 2021 on the N2 between Zinkwazi and Kwadukuza. The accident involved a truck, and two motor vehicles. Victims were treated on scene by paramedics, however they were three fatalities,” said K w a D u k u z a S A P S Communications Officer Priya Nunkumar. In a separate incident one
cyclist was killed and other three sustained minor to moderate injuries on Saturday on the R102 in Tongaat. It's reported that a vehicle had allegedly been overtaking several cars on a blind rise, when the vehicle struck a group of cyclists, “A young cyclist was unfortunately pinned under the vehicle and dragged for several meters, where he remained trapped under the car. IPSS advanced life support paramedics and rescue crews worked to free the patient. Unfortunately he had sustained multiple injuries and was declared dead on scene,” said IPSS Medical Rescue

KwaDukuza Southern beaches remain closed
ML Sultan holds poetry competition
Last week, KwaDukuza Municipality issued a statement alerting the public that the beaches from the Tongaat River to Salt Rock are still closed as a precautionary measure as a result of the spill that occurred when a chemical warehouse in Cornubia was torched during the recent unrest. “The public is advised to refrain from all recreational activities, including fishing or surfing, swimming, bait collection and picking up of dead species. Collecting or harvesting of any marine living resource in
these areas is temporarily prohibited as they have been exposed to toxic chemicals and could be harmful to human health. This warning and temporary closure of beaches remains in place until the threat has been determined to be abated. Results of samples taken are due back from specialist laboratories sometime in the next week, after which authorities will reassess the temporary closure of the beaches and related activities. The Portfolio Committee of Small Business Development visited iLembe District on Tuesday last week to assess damage following the recent unrest across the province and other parts of the country. The purpose of the visit is, among other things, to see, confirm and assess damages; learn and understand the felt needs from entrepreneurs and organisations; and find means of interventions tailored for their needs as the way forward. The two committees were mandated to conduct oversight on the newly established Department of Small. According to the statement from the Portfolio Committee of Small Business Development statement, the visit was mandated to lead an
integrated approach to the promotion and development of small businesses and cooperatives through a focus on the economic and legislative drivers that stimulate entrepreneurship to contribute to radical economic transformation. The visit was led by the Honourable Member of Parliament Ms Lydia Johnson, the delegation visited the KwaDukuza Central business district, eTete and Shakaskraal. Members of the Parliament, councillors led by iLembe District Municipality Mayor Councillor Siduduzo Gumede, KwaDukuza Mayor Cllr Dolly Govender and other relevant stakeholders engaged with small businesses and informal traders.

The ongoing road refurbishment and pavement construction in certain parts of ward 16 has been applauded by a number of residents citing that the burden has been lifted off from motorists who had to battle potholes daily. The installation of pavement is a huge relief to children that attend nearby schools in ward 16, this will help upsurge the safety of the learners. In the past learners had to share the road with vehicles which posed a great danger to their safety. Speaking to Xpress Times, Darius
Kisten said the project should be completed within the next coming weeks. He further alerted community members of a disturbance during the set time of construction. While this project received warm welcome from residents, certain residents castigated KwaDukuza Municipality, uttering that the municipality should have resurfaced all the roads in ward 16 due to their deteriorating state.

Mkhize tenders resignation, president reshuffles cabinet By Xpress Reporter
Beleaguered health minister Zwelini Mkhize has resigned with an immediate effect, triggering the first cabinet reshuffle under President Cyril Ramaphosa. Mkhize's resignation came just before Ramaphosa announced his cabinet reshuffle on Thursday last week. The president announced ANC veteran Joe Phahla as the new minister of health. The cabinet shakeup also saw Ramaphosa collapsing the ministry of state security and moving the State Security Agency (SSA) to the Presidency, with Zizi Kodwa being appointed as the second deputy minister in presidency responsible for the SSA. Another shocker was resignation of finance minister Tito Mboweni, who has been replaced by another ANC veteran Enoch Godongwana. Defense and Military veterans Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has also been removed from cabinet. Ramaphosa says she will be deployed to an as yet unspecified new position. Mapisa-Nqakula has been replaced by Speaker of the National Assembly, Ms Thandi Modise. “To improve support to the President and the National Security Council in the strategic management of the country's security, I am appointing Dr Sydney Mufamadi as National

Security Adviser. This position has been vacant since Mr Charles Nqakula stepped down earlier this year. “I wish to express my deep appreciation to all outgoing Ministers and Deputy Ministers for their service to government and to the people of S o u t h A f r i c a . “The task of rebuilding our economy and our society requires urgency and focus. It requires cooperation among all sectors of society and the active involvement of all South Africans. “As this administration, as this collective, we are unwavering in our determination to build a capable state, one which is ably led and which effectively serves the needs of the people,” Ramaphosa said.

What is Trauma Heart & PTSD? 22 Heart
Trauma is a result of a frightening or upsetting experience that can cause unpleasant emotional & physical experiences. These are just normal responses to abnormal situations. People are all not built the same, so people react differently to similar situations, not only the person who is directly involved in a traumatic situation is affected but the witnesses, family members & friends of the victim may also be affected . Sometimes the victims are in denial or they feel they can cope on their own but family members and friends should look out for physical signs that the person is not coping. They should take note of their behaviour, some of the mild signs are headaches, stomach aches, nausea, dizziness, difficulty in breathing & behavioural changes such as Isolation, strained or conflicted personal relationships, anxious behaviours like jumping at sounds, changes in sleeping and eating patterns. Normal memories are remembered like a story with a clear beginning, middle & an end, whereas a traumatic memory is a memory overload with no clear beginning and no end. Anything can trigger these traumatic moments and feelings which are all normal reactions to an abnormal situation Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder [PTSD] is a misunderstood condition which is a potentially a debilitating Mental condition but it's not a
