Observing Moral Regeneration Month By Xpress Reporter

July marks the commemoration of Moral Regeneration Month, an initiative of the Moral Regeneration Movement (MRM), which is aimed at encouraging people to recommit to efforts of building communities grounded on positive values and rededicate to building a caring society in pursuit of creating lasting peace and prosperity in the country.

The commemoration takes place specifically in July to coincide with the celebration of Mandela Day on 18 July and the birthday month of former President Nelson Mandela, an icon who is considered to be the main leader of the formation of the Moral Regeneration Movement, and to mark the adoption of the Charter for Positive Values on 28 July 2008.

During this month many people are expected to embark on promoting good behaviour in all spheres of life. Not only should good ethics and behaviour be promoted during this month but throughout the year. This month is meant to intensify the struggle against moral decay and open debates on the issues of morality in different corners of our country.

This Promotion is valid at 27 King Shaka Street, Stanger ONLY PROMOTION VALID FROM 13 JULY TO 19 JULY 2016

KwaDukuza residents receive title deeds Continued from page 1 and construction of about 200 houses have already commenced. In 2013, KwaDukuza Municipality was accorded a Level 2 Accreditation in terms of the Department of Human Settlements Accreditation Framework Policy which sees more human settlements functions being devolved to accredited municipalities so as to fast track housing projects packaging. In his address, Pillay thanked the vast majority of people in the community of Doringkop for maintaining stability over chaos and anarchy that had hit the country badly recently. “We thank this community for exercising maturity and stability on the forces that are seen to be very hard to resist.” KwaDukuza Mayor, Ricardo Mthembu said these are all efforts to bring about dignity to the generations that have been affected by the government of the past. “For over 340 years of oppression, the systematic strategy to deprive people of their basic services still persists.

HANDOVER: KZN MEC for Human Settlements and Public Works, Honourable Ravi Pillay (centre) hands over a house to the Mngadi family in Doringkop, with KDM Mayor, Councillor Ricardo Mthembu (right) looking on

Today the government is restoring dignity and human freedom to the generations which were born into the legacy of apartheid,” said Mthembu.

MADIBA: 67 minutes in honour of the “Father of the Nation”

“QQuoutoatbelse

AJAY SAHADEW

During the month of July South Africans from all walks of life and the world at large celebrate the life of a struggle icon that changed the course of history, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela. Before his passing on Thursday, 5 December 2013, the 18th of July was just celebrated as Madiba's birthday and people use 67 minutes of their time to do something positive, but since then the entire month has been dedicated to doing good deeds in honour of the icon. A man who famously said: “It always seem impossible until it is done”, with a name known a world over for the sacrifices he made for the liberation of his people. It is befitting to have people wanting to give back in honour of his name. But the question that arises is that of the significance of Mandela month to the people of South Africa, a country facing economic instability, political turmoil and racial tensions. Perhaps Mandela is a remedy for all that has plagued the country and also a chance for all South Africans to show acts of humanity during this time. As it has been evident in the past, people should go out of their way in doing the greater good in their respective communities. Some of the popular activities include Helping at an Old Age home, a Welfare Centre or just giving out donations to the needy. It is all for the common good and exemplifies what the man stood for. In recent times some seem to be missing the point of cherishing the ideals that “Tata” stood for instead use his name in vain to advance their political ambitions. It is time that South Africans remember the significance and purpose of Mandela day.

Heavy toll of alcohol

Once again, alcohol played a huge role in the death of an innocent man. According to an eye-witness, he met his ex at about 2am on a Sunday during April. In her drunken state of mind she clung onto him and he ignored her. At this hour of the night he purchased liquor from an outlet, danced and left for home with her hanging on to him. A Mozambican man walked past and requested space to maneuver between the houses they were blocking. She began swearing him and after an exchange of curses, he moved on. She left her ex and followed the Mozambican. The ex heard noises and went to investigate. He noticed her stabbing the man repeatedly in the chest and he stopped her. Afraid of repercussions, he went home. After sunrise he heard people talking and went to see. The Mozambican identified later as Bennet Moyana was dead and three beer bottles containing his blood was found nearby. He told the crowd who the culprit was. Nompilo Gaza (26) was finally arrested and was remanded in custody pending a formal bail application this week as bail is being opposed.

Perseverance pays off Josephine Mthembu alleges she was walking in the Ntshawini area on Saturday morning. She was grabbed by a youth and had her cellphone taken. A group of youths were nearby and she requested information on the culprit. They refused to divulge any information. Fortunately, one of the youths felt sorry for her and

provided her with valuable information. She contacted police and the culprit, Thabiso Gulundu (21) was arrested. The phone was retrieved and Gulundu will seek bail this week.

Erratic youth A grade 10 Glenhills learner and his unemployed friend have been arrested on a charge of robbery. According to Nathan Naidoo, he and his wife were awoken at about 2:30am in their Glenhills home by sounds in the house. They were accosted by four youths who threatened them with a fire-arm and sprayed pepperspray at them. They took a television set, jewellery, cellphones, a microwave and vehicle keys. The victim spotted two of their attackers near the court and alerted the detectives. Sithembiso Cele (20) and his school friend, Bhekokwakhe Thusi (20) are due at court this week for a bail consideration.

Gruesome killing, police quick response Five suspects were arrested for the alleged gruesome murder of Jabulani Enoch Gina at Ntshawini on Sunday, 10 July 2016. According to Johannes Khoza of KwaDukuza SAPS, the victim's body appeared “to be chopped with stabbings in his leg were tied with wire.” “Cane knife / Sharp object and sustained multiple open wounds” was described. Police apprehended criminals allegedly within a day of the murder.

house. It is alleged that the owner of the house received a call from the victim, who was locked in the toilet, received a call and hurried home. He fired some shots and the suspects dropped of their firearms and escaped.

Balaclava clad males rob family A Manor family is reeling from a robbery orchestrated by three armed males at their home on Friday, 8 July at 2pm. “Three unknown black males who were in possession of firearms threatened the victim and demanded cash and jewellery,” said Khoza. All robbers had their faces covered with balaclavas and were already in the

Not so innocent Princess Nzungame's kindness towards her nephew hardened in a short period of time. She alleges he broke into her house and stole assorted clothing during June. She caught him in the CBD and he returned some of the stolen property. An arrangement was made for the outstanding items. When he failed to keep to his side of the deal, she went in search of him again. Once again she tracked him down and frog-marched him to the police station where she opened a case of housebreaking and had him charged. Innocent Mkhombe (22) will learn whether he is eligible for bail this week or not.

Three people were injured in a collision on the R102 near Compensation on Sunday, 10 July 2016. According to Chris Botha of Netcare 911, paramedics arrived at the scene and found that two vehicles collided. “After the injured were examined, it was found that one person sustained serious injuries while two others escaped with minor injuries. Medics stabilised the injured at the scene before transporting them to a local hospital for the care that they required. “Exact detail to the cause of the crash and preceding events is still speculative and will form part of the police investigation,” said Botha.

Minister Gordhan to visit KwaDukuza

Luthuli commemorative walk

NOBEL LAUREATE: KwaDukuza's and Groutville's own Chief Albert Luthuli was Africa's first Nobel Peace Prize Laureate in 1960

By Xpress Reporter

People from all walks of life will get an opportunity to walk close to 11, 5 kms in the footsteps of the late Chief Albert Luthuli as part of a commemorative walk from his home the Luthuli Museum in Groutville, KwaDukuza on 23 July 2016. According to organizer, local businessman Zakhele Gumede, the walk will not be competitive. “This year, it will be 49 years after the tragic train accident on 21 July 1967 that killed Chief Albert Luthuli. He was a devout Christian Chief of Groutville AmaKholwa Tribe, President of the African National Congress, and the first African winner of the Nobel Peace Prize,” said Gumede. The 11, 5 km walk will observe

Chief Luthuli's final walk to the railway bridge where he had an accident that led to his untimely death. He walked from his shop Nonhlevu Trading Store, to the family agricultural fields across Mvoti River. He was using the railway bridge to cross the Mvoti River when he was struck by a train. The walk will be from his home in Groutville (Luthuli Museum) to the accident site, back to the Museum via the gravesite at the Groutville United Congregational Church. “Leaders and ordinary people will get a chance to discuss the legacy of one of South Africa's best leaders who epitomized the value hard work, non-racialism, ethics and strong leadership. The walk will put Groutville and KwaDukuza on the South African

tourism and investment map, where they belong. The event will also ensure that the legacy and memory of this great leader is revived and his values as a leader are understood,” said Gumede. Contact Gumede on zsgumede@live.co.za as there are terms and conditions.

Pravin Jamnadas Gordhan (born 12 April 1949 in Durban) is a South African politician and current Minister of Finance, a position he had previously held from 2009-2014. He is also the former Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional

Affairs, serving from 20142015. The citizens from within the Ilembe District Municipality will have the opportunity of seeing him at the Stanger Siva Sungum Hall on Friday, 15 July 2016 at 6pm. - Wikipedia

The Fox and the Goat

With

Once, a fox was roaming around in the dark. Unfortunately, he fell into a well. He tried his level best to come out but all in vain. So, he had no other alternative but to remain there till the next morning. The next day, a goat came that way. She peeped into the well and saw the fox there. The goat asked: “What are you doing there, Mr. Fox?” The sly fox replied: “I came here to drink water. It is the best I have ever tasted. Come and see for yourself.” Without thinking even for a while, the goat jumped into the well, quenched her thirst and looked for a way to get out. But just like the fox, she also found herself helpless and unable to come out. Then the fox said: “I have an idea. You stand on your hind legs. I'll climb on your head and get out. Then I shall help you come out too.” The goat was innocent and did as the fox said and helped him get out of the well. While walking away, the fox said: “Had you been intelligent enough, you would never have got in without seeing how to get out.”

Portugal celebrate first ever Euro trophy

Cristiano Ronaldo's victorious Portugal prepared to returned home to a triumphant welcome on Monday after their shock 1-0 win over France in the European Championship final, the country's first international title. The Real Madrid superstar was stretchered off the Stade de France pitch in tears in the first half and could only watch from the side lines as substitute Eder fired a thundering extra time winner to cap a month-long tournament of upsets. The unexpected win over the heavily-fancied hosts sparked jubilant scenes in Lisbon, where tens of thousands of fans flooded the streets, dancing, singing and waving Portugal's red and green flag. The party continued on Monday, with Ronaldo's men meeting President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa at his official residence before embarking on a parade through the streets of Lisbon. "We are the best in Europe. We showed what we are made of: tough, united, able to overcome

all difficulties including the blow of losing Cristiano Ronaldo," Rebelo de Sousa said. Portugal's dreams of lifting the Henri Delaunay Trophy looked to have taken a shattering blow when Ronaldo, their captain and talisman, fell to the ground in agony in the eighth minute following a clattering challenge from Dimitri Payet. After twice going off for treatment and trying to come back, Ronaldo was definitively carried off, but for all France's dominance Portugal stood firm thanks to man-of-the-match defender Pepe and a string of dramatic saves from goalkeeper Rui Patricio. The victory marks a healing of sorts for Portugal after their shock defeat in the Euro 2004 final when they lost 1-0 to unfancied Greece in on home turf. Luis Figo, who captained Portugal in that agonising defeat in Lisbon 12 years ago, congratulated the team on Twitter. Portugal's coach Fernando

Santos and the other players paid tribute to Ronaldo's role in urging the team not to give up. Ronaldo returned from treatment at the end of 90 minutes to give pep talks to his teammates. Ronaldo's tears of pain and anguish as he was carried off turned to tears of joy at the final whistle, and shrugging off his injured knee, the forward danced past reporters with other Portugal players as they left the stadium. Portugal defended doggedly and threatened occasionally without their inspirational skipper. With 109 minutes gone, Eder beat off a Laurent Koscielny challenge to fire a shot from outside the penalty area that French captain and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris could not even get a hand to. France started the match as strong favourites after beating Germany 2-0 in the semi-final. Antoine Griezmann scored twice in that game to take his tournament tally to six - enough to win the Golden Boot award.

MAMA ALISHA

THANKS MAMA ALISHA ITS REALLY HAPPENING NOW WITH YOU I am Carl from Ballito and am here to testify to my fellow South Africans about a miracle I encountered when I visited MAMA ALISHA to help me fix my financial situation. I was almost left homeless as I had lost my home and car to fake traditional healers. On my visit she gave different ways of helping me and chose the magic wallet that brings 25000 everyday and paid her 70 000 every week from the money I made from the magic wallet. I told my cousin Petros about it and he too chose the rats that bring money in the house after which he got 40 000 and paid 9000. Mama Alisha. I know it's the same way you can be helped you have to see to believe so visit her or call her 0710223640 MY WIFE TOLD ME TO GO TO HELL WHEN I WAS POOR BUT SHE WANTS ME BACK BECAUSE IM RICH I am Cliff from Umhlanga. I came to know about Mama Alisha from Auntie Merina who lives in Stanger and had previously visited her with a financial problem and it had been fixed. I had lost all my money, cars, business some of which was left to me by my late parents. When things went real bad. My wife told me to go to hell and started having affairs looking out for rich men and when I confronted her about it she told me go to hell, left me alone and went. I suffered for almost 2 years but meeting Mama Alisha rose me up again. She gave me a magic wallet with which I could get money daily inside my house. I opened up a new business worth 2 million rands bought 2 new cars and when my wife heard that I am up again she wants me back, thinking of forgiving her but am not sure. Only that she is the mother of my 3 kids. I can forgive her for only that. If Alisha bought my life back to normal, I know she can help you too.

Rajiv 'Tambuti' Singh was unanimously re-elected to lead Dawnheights Cricket Club at their Annual General Meeting held at the Quartz Conference Centre this past Saturday. In his address at the AGM, Singh said that as the curtains draw on a truly successful and glorious season experienced by Dawnheights, it was time to reflect on the highs and lows of the season. The highlight of the season being crowned the

KZN Challenge League Stream 2 champions and gaining promotion to Stream I and winning the local iLembe Cricket Union 50 over league. He added that the biggest achievement was the club celebrating their 30 years. He attributed this to the hard working players, the supportive management and strong supporters. Singh said that going into the 2015/2016 season saw the

youth bursting win confidence as they had just missed out on promotion the season before. The youngsters are the biggest promoters bolstering the club's achievements as they finished 2nd in the U16 division. He added that with regular sweat breaking training sessions led by dedicated coach Dhanraj Bageloo, the only path for Dawnheights was to move forward. He heaped praise on DGM

Coach Tours without their support, moving forward would not have been possible. He congratulated Adesh Bageloo for being selected in the SA County District U19 squad and Sagar Aurora for being the highest run scorer in KZN.
