According to KZN SAPS Spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane, the suspects were in their vehicle when they were intercepted by the police and searched. “The arrested suspects will appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrate's Court on Monday. KwaZuluNatal police have worked tirelessly around the province in the past few days, bringing in wanted criminals for various crimes in the book,” he said.
CONFISCATED: Firearms recovered in Maphumulo
The KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa is pleased with the operations conducted by various Clusters and units in the province. “We will intensify our efforts in getting rid of illegal firearms as well as drugs in the province.

Body found at Mvoti River By Xpress Reporter
The decomposed body of a man was recovered from the Mvoti River on Monday, 8 January 2018. According to KwaDukuza SAPS Spokesperson, Constable SS Khuzwayo, the shocking discovery was made by two men in the area. “SAPS KwaDukuza was called upon by a member of the public who reported that a human body was seen floating at
Mvoti Water Works. Durban Search Rescue was called to remove the decomposed body of an unidentified African adult male,” said Khuzwayo. He added that it was too difficult to estimate the age of the man. “SAPS KwaDukuza urge anyone who might have information relating to the aforementioned body to come forward or call Detective Sergeant Chetty at SAPS KwaDukuza.”
In another incident, Thembeni residents are still reeling in shock after a 4year-old girl drowned in a pit toilet on Tuesday, 9 January 2018. According to the mother of the deceased, the child left the house at around 12:00 to play with a friend and at around 13:00 she received the news about the child's death. “I will rise against all odds” By Xpress Reporter
An upcoming artist promises his fans that the best is yet to come. Nzuzo Phiri, who has been in the music industry for quite some time now, feels that his time is now. The Afro Pop musician released his first solo album 'Eduze Nami' back in 2017. “I have been in the game for some time now, before I decided to be a solo artist I was with a group known as Gejambazo. Things did not work out well, then I decided to split up with the group. “I have an amazing talent, passion for music and the crowd goes crazy when I am on stage. I would also like to thank the KwaDukuza Municipality for
the support. They invite me when they have events,” said Phiri. He mentioned that his focus is on music and he wouldn't be where he is today if it wasn't for his producer, Prince Mlungisi. “Music is my life, music has helped me become a better version of myself and I urge all the residents of KwaDukuza to support me and other upcoming artists. I grew up listening to Ringo Madlingozi. He's one of those people who inspire me to work hard every day to produce good music for my fans and all music fans out there.” According to Nzuzo, sales of the album are going very well, considering it's his
first album. “I have a lot to deliver, my music accommodates everybody, and it doesn't matter whether you are young or old. I

know it's not an easy road but I believe that fortune favours the bold, that's why I will work tirelessly to make good music,” he said. Phiri is a man of many talents. He's also a part of the acting crew in a movie titled 'Amaphanta' produced in Shallowdane.

Saved Gugulethu Mbanjwa of Melville is a very fortunate woman. She alleges that at around 11:00pm on new year's eve she and her sister were on route to the local store. She was attacked by a man who assaulted her and pushed her down. Her sister went to call family members who arrived just in as he was removing her pants. The culprit drew a knife and began fighting with the rescuers, stabbing four of them before being overpowered. Philani Moxana (25) has been charged with attempted rape and four counts of assaults with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He will seek bail this week. What's new? Whereas the year may have changed - people have not. According to Sphamandla Dube he and a group of friends were celebrating new year's morning at a street bash in monkey town at about 05:00am. He was called aside by another local who engaged in an argument with him and stabbed him in his upper right shoulder. He managed to avoid the second blow to his chest, the culprit fled but was apprehended by the others. Qaphela Sphelele Mkhize (19) was charged with attempted murder. He will seek bail this week. Never lose hope Subashnie Naidoo of Lindelani alleges that at around 01:00am, she heard noises and on investigating two youth forced open her door and took 3 cellphones. She began making enquiries in the area and a week later her determination paid off as she tracked down the culprits. Police were called in and arrested Nhlanhla Nala (25) and Nkosinathi Sibisi (27). Both
youth spent new year's day behind bars and were further remanded in custody pending a bail consideration this week. TV rights An argument over repairs to a television cost Fazile Ndunakazi his life on new year's eve. According to eye witnesses they noticed the deceased stumble out of his house at Monkey Town covered in blood. Another person followed him shortly thereafter brandishing a bloody knife and challenged them to engage in a fight with him. One of the men rushed after the culprit with a cane knife and he fled. The culprit allegedly reported the matter to a friend and handed the knife to him. At this stage police were combing the area and the culprit fled. Police dogs located him and attacked him. Siyabonga Ndlovu (35) will seek bail this week. From joy to sorrow The joys experienced over the festive season period are over for many. Harsh realities and the good old bad days are back for many. The domestic violence office at court is testimony to this phenomenon. Nomzamo Mzimela (24) alleges she was seated in her boyfriend's vehicle with their 3 year old child chatting casually. He started the vehicle and began to drive off. When questioned he pulled a knife to her throat and asked her to phone her mother and call the police. Whilst in motion he pushed her and the child out of the vehicle, brought his vehicle to a stop and began assaulting her despite the injuries sustained during her fall. Both victims received bruising and gashes. Mbuso Khumalo (44) is due back at court this week to seek bail.

The lion and the hare In ancient times, a ferocious lion lived in the forest, killing without remorse. The other animals were terrified. To stop the lion's deadly hunts, some animals offered to provide him with food each day. Some animals would still die, of course, but the rest would live in peace. The lion agreed and enjoyed months of the easy life. One day it was the hare's turn to present himself to the lion. Although small, the hare was very crafty. “Lion, lion,” the hare cried out as he approached. “Help me, help me! Another lion is trying to eat me. But I am to be your dinner! You must stop him!” Furious that someone was trying to steal his food, the lion demanded, “Take me to the thief. I will make him pay for
this mischief!” The hare and the lion made their way through the forest, eventually reaching the deep well. There the lion looked down and saw his own reflection in the water. Thinking he had found the creature who tried to steal his

food, the lion jumped down, ready to fight. Alas, the lion never came out of that well, and the animals lived in peace from that day on.

We used fight almost everyday up to when my husband of 7 years & 3 kids left me and I heard that they were planning to get married as he was asking for divorce from me. I confided in Mama Alisha after reading a testimoney in the paper. She told me to go and bath the muti water. She gave me and the rest she was the one to do it for me. After only 3 days my husband called and apologised, he told me everything about the other women and we decided to forgive each other. We are back together and I would love to tell you that she also fixed the financial problems we were having. Life is pretty good thanks to Mama Alisha

The definition of a dream is 'a series of thoughts, images and sensations in a person's mind during sleep' or, 'a cherished aspiration, ambition or ideal'. Every single human being has either one of these unspoken desires, or both. With me, I guess, it was both. I grew up with my close cousin, Manny, who is a die-hard Liverpool supporter. He would tune in to BBC every Saturday to listen to the progress of his team. And so, it was a natural phenomenon that I, an impressionable, young, six year old child would follow him. I watched the first Liverpool game in 1976 (FA Cup final against Manchester United in which United won 2-1). And so a dream was born, deep within my soul: The Liverpool Dream. From then on it became my heartfelt desire and deepest motivation, and I told everyone that I will, one day, watch Liverpool play at Anfield, even if this had to be my dying wish. Aspiring towards this, that dream of mine became a reality as I boarded my flight at King Shaka International Airport on 15 December 2017, for a vacation in London. This was 46 years later. My dream was finally coming true. My London vacation included exploring the various wonders of London, but, the greatest adventure was having my childhood dream finally come true; I got to watch Liverpool play live, and visit my fantasy destination, Anfield. Fortunately, a childhood friend of mine resides in London and he was aware of this

THE LIVERPOOL DREAM… Dreams do come true electrifying games that produced 6 clinical goals. Liverpool dominated the proceedings from the first whistle before the magician, Coutinho sent the Liverpool crowd into a frenzy when he headed home the opening goal. Unfortunately, I could not celebrate. I was in the Arsenal camp!! The entire first half was
dominated by Liverpool and they could have been 3-0 up at half time with Salah rattling the cross bar and Mane trying an acrobatic kick over the bar. The second half came alive when Salah added the second and my thoughts at that time was, here we go again. What amazed me is that Arsenal retaliated immediately, scoring 3 goals in a space of 5 minutes. They were goals by Sanchez, Xhaka and Ozil and my mind raced
dream of mine, despite him being a Manchester supporter. He managed to purchase two tickets for the much awaited revenge game between Arsenal and Liverpool at Emirates Stadium for 22 December 2017. However, we were seated in the Arsenal camp and he warned me that I must not outwardly express emotion, as my general demeanour demands when it comes to all things Liverpool. We were, after all, in the Arsenal camp!! Expecting a highly charged match, I was not disappointed, seeing one of the most

to Liverpool's form in defence, but Firmino ensured Liverpool came home with at least a
point when he netted the equaliser. A welldeserved draw for both teams. Next on the agenda of my dream was Anfield itself. We booked an Anfield Tour for 28 December 2017. Liverpool is a two and a half hour train journey from London. That was an experience on its own as I witnessed snow almost all the way. Standing in front of Anfield made the hairs at the back of my neck stand on
end. Here I was, fulfilling my deepest childhood dream. The tour consisted of the hall of fame, showing the successes of past managers, and the team. Entering the teams' change rooms where Daglish and Gerrard have permanent seats, felt unreal. If that wasn't already a fantasy
come true, I then visited the press room, walked down the tunnel into the playing arena and sat on the very same chair that Klopp sits on (which he seldom does) and saw the famous KOP. My dream was fulfilled and I felt that warm glow creep into my soul…. My feet were embedded on Anfield soil; I could now die a happy man!! .Surprisingly, Goodison Park, Everton's home ground is just a walking distance from Anfield. I also had the opportunity of visiting Wembley, the present home of Spurs. Did you know that Liverpool is also home to the legendary Beatles, and I had the opportunity of being at the club called The Cavern Club were it all started for them. DREAM! DREAM! DREAM! It does come true. Anil Singh Xpress Times Sports Reporter
