Massive fuel price hike ahead for April South African motorist could brace themselves for another fuel price hike. The price of petrol will now be close to R1.00 per litre from the beginning of, April if the price oil keeps on increasing. In a mid-month report According to the Central Energy Fund not only the fuel taxes are set to increase by 27cents a litre this will be an addition to the general increase of around 90 cents a litre on petrol and 65 cents on Diesel. If there's no move on the rand,
dollar exchange rate and no significant movement in the international oil price. If the current trend is persistent motorist could go up by R1.17 per litre of petrol and for Diesel 92cents ,this would bring the cost of a litre of 95 Unleaded up to R16.79 at the coast and R17.49 inland, where the cheaper 93 ULP would rise to R17.32. The steep fuel prices mainly come after increase of the price of rising international crude oil prices
since last year. The Automobile Association (AA) says the government can no longer ignore the effect the high rise on fuel. “The cost is not only direct, but throughout the value chain, and is battering consumers from all sides. It requires urgent review to help ease pressure on consumers who are battling to stay financially afloat,” said the AA.

HERITAGE DAY: Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, former President Jacob Zuma and the late King Goodwill Zwelithini.
The countries of the UN and others have joined the South African people in paying tribute to King Goodwill Zwelithini, the 72-year-old King passed away due to COVID-19 complications in a Durban hospital on Friday. He had been in hospital for just over a month after being admitted for diabetes, according to the traditional Prime Minister, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.

DFM factory gutted by fire

Thabani Mdlalose, DFM first female supervisor, Ms. T. Mthiyane and Mandeni Council Speaker, Cllr. Bheki Magwaza.
On 14 March 2021, Dynamic Fibre Moulding Packaging Solutions (DFM) caught alight, the accidental brazen fire demolished the warehouse structure at the firm.
Mandeni Local Municipality Firefighters worked tirelessly to put out the fire with the help of brave employees and community members. On 15 March 2021, the Mayor of If it matters to you, it matters to us Mandeni Local Municipality, Cllr. voice and calling for the protection of jobs. DFM Managing Director, Neeran Balgobind, also echoed the company's commitment to ensuring that jobs are not lost, he further thanked the employees who risked their lives to save some of the equipment within the warehouse, “Management are both grateful and humbled by the efforts of our dedicated employees who worked tirelessly to defend the equipment and machinery of the company during the fire. We have begun assessing the extent of the damages and the readiness of our machines to recommence operations within the next few weeks,” said Balgobind. The incident comes at a time when DFM had just begun to
overcome its financial difficulties of recent years and the company was engaged in exploring new and innovative applications for moulded fibre products and packaging. DFM already offers a wide range of egg packaging available throughout South Africa and supplies a large portion of both the formal and informal egg producers in South Africa. DFM also offers Dairy Packaging, Distribution Packaging, Protective Packaging and Cushion Packaging and of recently, fruit and vegetable punnets. Since its inception in 1993, DFM has played a huge role in improving the livelihood of the people of Mandeni through its generous contributions to NPO's, employment for locals and overall
wellbeing of society. Speaking after the meeting the Mayor shared the Municipality's concern following the accident and vowed to continue engaging with DFM until normality has been restored, “It is unfortunate that this happened at the back of COVID-19 enforced economic hardships in our country. We are looking to work closely with DFM to ensure the company does not disinvest, and the interest of employees are put forth. Keeping companies afloat is in line with the Municipality's vision to become a sustainable economic hub by 2030. We will work together with various stakeholders to ensure Mandeni investors are safe and competitive in order to create jobs for our people,” said Cllr Thabani Mdlalose.
Councillor's corner MANOR: Stanger Manor and surrounding areas was severely affected by water outages for three days. This has been an ongoing problem for a while, “Load shedding has contributed to the water outages as well. However iLembe technical department has to up its game during time of crisis rather than giving excuses instead of solutions to emergency situation. Water tankers only arrived on the third day this is unacceptable. It boils down to poor planning,” said Cllr Singh.

Tuberculosis Awareness Month Tuberculosis (TB) causes thousands of deaths every year in South Africa and the rest of the world. TB is a chronic infectious disease that usually affects the lungs. TB is mainly spread when someone with TB coughs or sneezes, and someone else breaths in the air-borne bacteria. A person can be infected with the TB organism for years without getting sick or spreading it on to others, but when their immune system weakens for some reason, TB infection can develop into
active disease. When a person becomes infected with TB, the bacteria in the lungs multiply causing pneumonia; the patient experiences chest pain and has a persistent cough which often brings up blood. TB can be cured, but requires rigorous unbroken treatment that lasts for six months failure to complete the treatment regimen can result in the emergence of drug-resistant strains of TB. TB is generally classified as being either latent or active.
Latent TB - the bacteria are inactive but present in the body. The patient has no symptoms and is not contagious. Active TB - the bacteria are active and make the patient ill. Active TB is contagious. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Tuberculosis Report 2013, TB incidence is falling at a rate of 2% per year and global TB deaths decreased from 1.4 million in 2011 to 1.3 million deaths in 2012.

Marvin Hagler, undisputed middleweight champion
Boxing legend Marvin Hagler, the undisputed middleweight champion from 1980 to 1987, died on Saturday at age 66, his wife said. In posting on the famed fighter's Facebook page, Kay G. Hagler said
her husband passed away at the family home. “Marvelous” Marvin Hagler fought from 1973 to 1987 and delivered some of the epic bouts in a golden era of the sport, finishing with a record 62-3 with two drawn and 52 knockouts. The southpaw's most heralded triumph came in a 1985 matchup at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas against Thomas “Hitman” Hearns that lasted only a tick over eight minutes but was regarded as a classic. After a first round filled with power punches in which Hearns suffered a broken right hand, Hagler suffered a cut to the head early in the second. A ringside doctor examined in the third round and the fight went on. Hagler wobbled Hearns with a powerhouse right and sent him to the canvas moments later, Hearns rising only to collapse into referee Richard Steele's arms. Hagler won the World Boxing Council and World Boxing Association middleweight titles in 1980, stopping Britain's Alan Minter in the third round at London's Wembley Stadium, and added the International Boxing Federation's inaugural title in 1983. Hagler defended the undisputed crown 12 times, including a 15-round unanimous decision victory over Panama's Roberto Duran in 1983 and his final triumph, an 11th round knockout of unbeaten Ugandan John Mugabi in 1986. Over a decade from 1975 to 1986, Hagler went unbeaten with 36 wins and a draw. Named Fighter of the Year in 1983 and 1985 by the Boxing Writers Association of America, he was named Fighter of the Decade in the 1980's by Boxing Illustrated. He carried a 16-fight win streak into what proved to be his final fight, a showdown with Leonard in 1987 at age 32.

While new Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Patrice Motsepe pleaded for unity as he seeks to fix the troubled organisation, there are already rumblings over this uncontested election. Shortly after his position was confirmed in Rabat on Friday, some CAF officials railed against alleged interference by Fifa, the world governing body. Just a few weeks ago, Motsepe, Ivorian Jacques Anouma, Mauritian Ahmed Yahya and Senegalese Augustin Senghor were locked in an intriguing struggle for the presidency. But Fifa-brokered meetings of the contenders in Morocco and Mauritania led to mining magnate Motsepe becoming the sole candidate. Senghor and Yahya were given the first and second vicepresident roles. Anouma, who initially declared the pact “undemocratic”, is a former FIFA executive committee member and becomes special advisor to Motsepe. Former Africa Cup of Nations - winning coach Claude le Roy questioned the Fifa's involvement, given they “would not dare do so in Europe or South America”. “Infantino, stop the massacre with African football ... imposing your law on Africa in the elections,” Le Roy said. It is not the first time the international governing body has been accused of interfering in CAF, with many officials believing Infantino privately backed Malagasy Ahmad Ahmad four years ago. He Malagasy ended the 29-year reign of Cameroonian Issa Hayatou in a shock outcome to the 2017 presidential elections. But after a promising start, Ahmad stumbled from one crisis to another, which eventually led to him exiting the presidency in disgrace. Last November, he became the first CAF president to be banned by Fifa, with a five-year suspension for “governance issues cut to two after appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Fifa became so concerned by governance issues at CAF that it sent its secretary general Fatma Samoura to Cairo for six months to assist in the running of the confederation. Motsepe, a fan of Spanish giants Barcelona, is the ninth richest man in Africa according to Forbes magazine and owns 2016 CAF Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns. CAF are banking on him using his business connections across African to woo new sponsors.

Brazilian legend congratulates hat-trick hero Ronaldo Pele on Sunday congratulated Cristiano Ronaldo for 'breaking my record' of goals scored in official matches. Portuguese star Ronaldo hit a hat-trick for Juventus in a 3-1 Serie A win over Cagliari to bring his total to 770 goals. The 36-year-old took to Instagram to tell his 270 million followers he could now claim the record, having matched Pele's 767 on March 2. “I'm filled with joy and pride as I acknowledge the goal that puts me on top of the World's goal scoring list, overcoming Pele's record, something that I could never have dreamed of while growing up as a child from Madeira,” Ronaldo wrote. Brazilian great Pele, 80, wrote on Instagram to his 5.8 million followers: Congratulations on breaking my record of goals in official matches. I admire

you a lot, I love watching you play and this is no secret to anyone. My only regret is not being able to give you a hug today. Cristiano life is a solo flight. Each makes his own journey. And what a beautiful journey you are having.” Pele the only player in history to win three World Cups has claimed to have scored 1 283 goals in total, including in unofficial matches. Ronaldo's goals include 668 for club sides five with Sporting Lisbon, 118 for Manchester United, 450 for Real Madrid and 95 for Juventus. He also scored 120 for Portugal. Some media however put Czech Josef Bican on 805 goals, ahead of both Ronaldo and Pele. Former Brazilian striker Romario also claims to have scored 1000 career goals including unofficial matches. Other sources attribute 772 to him.
15 years on from Proteas' famous '438’ Of all the small moments that defined the Protea's momentous victory over Australia in the famous '438-game' at the Wanderers in 2006, Makhaya Nitini's match-winning contribution continues to stand out ... 15 years on. Ironically, the legendary quick did so with the bat, rather than the ball. Requiring two runs from three deliveries to not only clinch a thrilling five-match series but also broke the record for the highest ODI total in history at the time, South Africa were down to their final batting pair. Vinnie Barnes, then the Protea's bowling coach, encapsulates the simple equation perfectly. “Nine down, in walked Makhaya Ntini to face one of the most fearsome bowlers in the Aussie attack, Brett Lee. We had gotten close and needed Makhaya to get a single or the winning runs.” With a composed Mark Boucher on 46 at the other end, just getting off strike was the wisest option. “Watch the yorker Makhaya, get Boucher on strike.' I can imagine all the advice Makkie got before he walked out to bat,” Barnes said. “He will tell you that he had everything under control and calmly guided Brett Lee's
thunderbolt down to third man.” Boucher hit the next ball for four and pandemonium broke out. On the back of an outrageous, 111ball 175 from Herschelle Gibbs and skipper Graeme Smith's 90 off 55 deliveries, the Proteas had prevailed. Barnes sat in the same seat for the whole 100 overs, at times bewildered by what was going on. It had truly been a proverbial rollercoaster ride. “It was the most memorable one-day match I was involved in during my time with the Proteas,” Barnes continued. “Although it was a day to remember, I had mixed feelings. I was absolutely over the moon with the result, but as the Proteas bowling coach, my bowlers had been battered for 434 runs. By the end of the innings, I sat in disbelief not knowing what just happened. Was I dreaming? Was this a nightmare? My bowlers conceded 434. If no-balls were free hits back then, they would probably have gotten close to 500. We bowled 10 no-balls.” Ntini himself had gone for 80 runs in just nine overs. Stunned into silence initially, the dressing room lightened up once Jacques Kallis came and quipped: “Guys, I think we've done a good job, the bowlers have done well. They're 15 runs short.” It proved to be the perfect tonic. “Once everything calmed down, we had to prepare to chase a world record total. The key was not to focus on the outcome, but rather on to process that would eventually get us there. What we had was a batting line-up that could chase a mammoth total. The rest is history,” Barnes said.
