“Something good or bad…we report to the public” As an organisation we have always made it a point that we inform public about everything that is happening in our region, whether its something good or bad but we report to the public, not only report but we also give your good selves the interventions done by the organisation. The ANC in the region have reliably been informed of some comrades who have registered as independent candidates. The ANC have written to all branches of the region informing them of the decision taken by the region that anyone who joins the opposition or register as independent for whatever reason will be expelled from the organisation. We have already sent letters to those that we have proof that they are

registered although some of them have since retreated and want to come back to the organisation, we can report that we will engage on these matters as they present themselves because seemingly there is no one size fits all on these matters but those who will come forward before elections will be treated differently and will not face the same chop as those who will contest the elections. We must also report that the ANC is an organisation for all which is why we understand that when people are angry they may do things out of anger which is why those who come back to the organisation and apologize are always taken through specific process of rehabilitating them back to the

organisation depending on the merits of their cases other than that of joining opposition and of becoming independents and go on to contest the organisation. We are pleading with all members of the ANC to isolate name and shame those who are still with us but are doing things that are not allowed in the organisation. We also want to reiterate the call made by the president that burning of property can never be a solution, lets sit down and talk whenever there are issues that concern our communities. In commemoration of the commencement of the Driefontein Housing Project, KwaDukuza Mayor, Councillor Ricardo Mthembu visited the home of the late Preva Khumalo who served as Councillor for Ward 21 in KwaDukuza in tribute to his dedication to human development and success. Khumalo is respected for his immense involvement in the struggle for liberation during apartheid times and is highly recognised for his role as a leader in government. Khumalo was brutally murdered near his

Driefontein home in August 2006. Mthembu says the Khumalo family will be the first beneficiaries of the R 10 million project which will yield 1500 housing units that will help improve the lives of over 6000 people in Driefontein. “We recognize and remember the remarkable contributions by Khumalo. As leaders, we all took a leaf from that young giant. From all that he did for his community, he was one of the most vibrant Councillors who represented the interests of the youth of KwaDukuza too,” said

the Mayor. Cllr Mthembu said that they have held down the fort since his demise so that the Driefontein Housing project goes on. “Through his daring exploits as Councillor, this project is being realized today obviously at our behest. The iLembe U17, U19, U21 & females senior team participated in the KZN Netball Championships 2016 held at Hoypark, Durban from 3 5 June 2016. The team did very well by participating in all the ages and got good experience that will build towards improving their performance for future. This is an annual event which was very organised and hoping to have more such events in between to build on improve the players performance and was good for networking with other Districts. iLembe had a team of 65 participants that were very well behaved. Local umpires also received their grading at the tournament. They were Mduduzi Mthiya (B), Sthembiso Kumalo and Phindile Khumalo (C*). The selectors and coaches also gained experience during this tournament. iLembe have 16 players who were selected for the KZN Team for the different categories: Nonsindiso Madlala, Habiba Useni and Noxolo Ngcobo (U17), Samira Mtiyane, Lihle Cele, Lerato Gumede, Danelle

van der Linde, Gugu Magwaza and Nobuhle Msomi (U19), Nokulunga Ndlovu and Mandisa Sibiya and Carlia van der Linde (U21) and Sthembile Ndlovu, Phindile Khumalo, Xolile Mthembu and Nomfundo Mthethwa (senior females) were selected. iLembe Netball would like to thank the Department of Sports and Recreation Ilembe for the giving these players an opportunity to be able to go and participate by funding the hotel accommodation, meals and the luxury bus for the players.
