The Dolphin Coast Hospice Association (DCHA) will host a cancer awareness programme on 27 July 2013 at the Dolphin Coast Sports Centre. Dr Strini Chetty, a Specialist Paediatrician practicing in the Stanger and Victoria Hospitals respectively will address the public on the early detection of childhood cancers. There has been an increase in childhood malignancies over the past few years; and parents should know and be aware of early signs and symptoms. With early detection, these cancers are treatable. DCHA PRO, Sarah Bee Khan encourages parents to attend. “I urge parents and would-be parents
not to miss this opportunity to arm themselves with vital information and knowledge on childhood cancers,” she said. Dr Strini Chetty has a post graduate degree in Paediatrics from the University of Kwazulu-Natal and is currently the only Paediatrician in private practice in Stanger. He treats all paediatric conditions with a special interest in new-borns. The talk will take place at the Dolphin Coast Sports Centre on 27 July 2013 at 3pm. Light refreshments will be served. The public is invited to attend. For information contact Gansen Perumal: 082 8912 454, Chin Suria: 082 9742 716 or Dr UN Naidoo: 083 7776 468.

foreign nationals who were stealing building materials from a local building company over a period of approximately two months. Ultimate 4 Security investigated the missing building materials that were being stolen by sub contractors (foreign nationals) who were working for the building company that Nonhlevu Secondary School commissioned to do work. The security guard from the Groutville based secondary school spotted one of the contractors, by his signature limp, the previous Tuesday evening, 9 July 2013. The KwaDukuza SAPS together with Ultimate 4 Security got reliable information of the whereabouts of the would-be criminal and went to his home in Groutville. According to information given by the suspect to the police, three foreign nationals including him stole: 3 bags of cement, four spades, a wheelbarrow and other industrial materials. The materials were positively identified by the building establishment's foreman.

People under the influence of alcohol or drugs should not address problems as this could create further problems. Mvelo Shandu of Darnall is living proof of this belief. Shandu alleges that he was approached by his drunk neighbour who told him that his girlfriend was making allegations against him. As Shandu tried to reason and explain to him what was said, the man struck him with a sjambok but was disarmed and fled. He returned with a group a while later, attacked Shandu and his brother and caused damage to Shandu's brother's house. Both brothers were hospitalized. Mzikhona Dlamini (23) is due back at court on 28 August on two cases of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and malicious damage to property.
When Khanyisile Mnase of New Guelderland found his house broken into last Wednesday, he began his own investigations. He paid a visit to a friend at Zamani Township and was surprised to find a person wearing what looked very much like his jacket. Accompanied by his friend, he confronted the man who was wearing a t-shirt which he was convinced was his. Upon explaining to the man that the jacket was stolen from his house, he returned it to Mnase. However, when he requested the t-shirt, the man fled but was soon apprehended by security officials in the area. Vuyisile Zungu (32) of Zamani is expected to apply for bail this week.
Annie gets cooked Alert Correctional Services Officers have nabbed a young woman for housebreaking. Andrew Moloi alleges that he responded to a call from a colleague who witnessed her leaving a home in Doktorskorp carrying a packet of clothing. With the help of neighbours, they located the owner of the house, Norman Cebekhulu who identified the clothing as his. The troubled woman was taken to the police station and charged for housebreaking. Annie “Cookiegirl” Masra (36) is expected at court again on correctional supervision for theft and has a history of crime.

Shabbir Noorbhai alleges that he was accosted by two youths who took his keys from him, leaving one wondering what the purpose of this incident is really about. Noorbhai alleges that he went to purchase matches in Dawnside at about 9:45pm last Monday. He alleges that as he alighted from the vehicle, two youths beat him and took the keys. They tried to remove his wallet but he managed to get into his vehicle and drive off. Wonderboy Nhlabati (33) and Phumlani Mngadi (32) are both due back at court on 19 August. The keys have been recovered and both accused have a very different story to tell.
A tired community A 25-year-old Glenhills youth appeared in court last Monday looking more Chinese than usual with his semiclosed eyes. It is alleged that the youth was brandishing a firearm rather bravely over the weekend and community members alerted the police. On arriving at the area, a group of about 20 persons pointed out the beaten youth to police who removed a firearm from his possession. The firearm has been linked to a robbery case and Sifiso Myeni (25) has given police the name of the person who gave him the weapon. He is expected to seek bail this week whilst police try to tie him up to the robbery case.
A close shave There are many inventions we can be grateful for. Just ask Pregasan Naidoo (23) of Sunny Park. Last week he slipped a pair of Titanium Shick Blades valued at R95 into his trousers at Checkers Hyper. Unlike Minora blades of old which had a very unsafe packaging, these blades have a rather durable covering for which Naidoo can be grateful. Naidoo struck a deal with the court and paid a fine of R200 for shoplifting. The blades have been returned to the store and one can just wonder what the outcome would have been had it not been for the protective covering.

iLembe wins at KZN business awards By Xpress Reporter
The iLembe District Municipality (IDM) won the Municipal Promotions award at the KwaZuluNatal Top Business Portfolio Awards. The prestigious award sponsored by First National Bank was held at the Southern Sun Elangeni Hotel on 9 July 2013. The IDM mayor Councillor SW Mdabe and acting municipal manager and Enterprise iLembe local economic development head Mike Newton were on hand to accept the award at the glitzy event. Mdabe said the fact that the municipality was selected as a finalist in this category and judged by a panel administered by De Loitte means the economic work that the municipality does is of a high standard. “We at iLembe take the economic development and the development of our people very seriously. We do
what we do each day for the benefit of our people and being recognised for it is a compliment,” he said. Newton said the Top KZN Business awards are made to companies and organisations in both the private and public sectors that make a contribution to the economy in the province of Kwa Zulu Natal. “The work that our development agency, Enterprise iLembe is doing has been adopted by the provincial cabinet. Our projects are currently being rolled out provincially starting with agricultural programmes at all district municipalities,” he said. This year's award took place for the seventh time and was attended by KZN premier Dr. Zweli Mkhize, economic development MEC Mike Mabuyakhulu, finance MEC Ina Cronje and FNB regional head Preggie Pillay amongst many other esteemed leaders in business, government departments and organisations in the province.

Stanger Manor and surrounding areas including Doesburg and Dendetu/Fawsley Park which fall under ward 17 will receive capital projects valued at more than R13 million in the 2013/2014 financial year. This also includes roll- over of projects from the previous financial year. Some of the major projects include a community hall, MV network upgrade addressing the supply and demand challenges, resurfacing and upgrading storm water which has been neglected for some time due to financial constraints by the municipality. The Mbozamo bus route upgrade will solve the decade old problem which residents had to endure during rainy seasons and regular grading of the road will be a thing of the past if all goes according to plan. The bus terminus area will soon be lit up as 90% of the work has been completed. On Fridays farmers sell their vegetables at the bus terminus, the additional lights means they could sell their products for longer periods at the same time residents have more time to buy their vegetables. An additional 10 street lights will be erected at strategic points in the ward. 34 households in Doesburg / Monkey town will receive the prepaid system for electricity and have been identified as indigent. They will also get 75kw electricity
free in terms of council policy. Manor residents are urged to use the skips at the bus terminus to dump their refuse. Please dump them in the skip and not on the floor as it has become an eyesore to motorists and residents. While I play an oversight role, it is virtually impossible to be there all the time. The road leading to Stanger Manor (R74) sidewalk is under repairs so those using the road should take extra precaution during the construction phase. At last the department of road works has taken our complaints seriously, initially citing funding challenges while the situation was untenable. Other challenges in my ward are operational and maintenance of existing infrastructure. All complaints received from my ward are immediately logged, however it takes a while before they are sorted out for example potholes and streetlights not working and refuse not picked up in time etc. Lastly I am glad ratepayers money is coming back to develop our ward. Our office is situated at Whitehouse upstairs suite 3, open daily from 9am-4.30pm. Telephone 0324-4375159, email: madhuns@kwadukuza,gov.za or hypersing@telkomsa.net. Cell 0731528910. Query your KDM accounts My focus is on the KwaDukuza Municipality (KDM) July Statements. Firstly there was the double charge for refuse - the new tariff of R123-73 and another of R156 .The R156 applies to gated estates. Moses, Manager Meters & Billing KDM, replied the same day explaining that the R156 was to be ignored. No explanation was given for the double charge. He reversed the R156 + Vat = R177-84 and sent me a copy. That was well done but why was the mistake made in the first place? The other query was a double basic charge on electricity meters. In February I was charged for a second meter (Number 128808) without any usage. What drama to rectify the account which dragged on while accumulating disconnection fees, interest and a whopping R4800 deposit requirement. After six weeks, I asked for my order, receipt and signature of the person who took meter Number 128808. My account got sorted out. Low and behold, it happened again on my June Statement. I was charged with a second meter (Number 128770) without any usage. I patiently asked the KDM to repeat the same performance and rectify the account. Doing it for the second time is easier! However, my July Statements shows unexplained amounts like -(1) Consumption Disconnection; (2) Interest rates - due last business day i.e., 28/6/13 while I paid 25/6/13; (3)

Admin. Charge Rates - No response from the KDM of my receipted letter. With the enormous loss of electricity materials and energy, I have asked the new local Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) who plays a "watchdog" role to investigate the meter stock. No response as yet. It is imperative that you check your Municipality account thoroughly until the staff are qualified to do the job. I go so far as reading my meters daily and have found some unexplainable differences. Also it does help to curb usage. Send queries in writing, getting a receipt on a duplicate copy. Also remember to declare a dispute for your query to prevent your electricity being cut off. Ratepayers who pay their rates in 11 instalments are relieved to have a free rate`s month in July. Enjoy Frank du Toit Secretary, North Coast KwaDukuza Ratepayers Association Ed's note- Hey Frank, well done- you can carry on doing the exercise till the proverbial cows come home, but if the powers that be are corrupt, they will scrape the bottom of the barrel to enrich themselves. If they can't explain an account it is simply placed as 'miscellaneous' and you have to pay. No amount of reasoning or rationalising will make any difference, because they will only respond by saying, 'We don't know!’

A man goes to the circus. After the show he speaks to the manager and asks for a job. "Alright, what can you do?" the manager asks. "I can do great bird impressions," the man replies. “Pssh, a lot of people can do that" says the manager. "Oh well", the man says, and flies away. What did the judge say to the dentist? “Do you swear to pull the tooth, the whole tooth and nothing but the tooth?”

Message from his Worship the Mayor of KwaDukuza Municipality, Councillor Ricardo Mthembu, on the occasion of the Nelson Mandela Day Fellow residents Of KwaDukuza, On Thursday, 18TH July 2013, our international icon, esteemed member of the Order of Mapungubwe, Isithwalandwe/Seaparankoe, father of democratic South Africa, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, turns 95. We are indeed grateful that the Almighty has blessed our country and continent with a human being of such rare qualities. Nelson Mandela served as a beacon of hope during the dark days of apartheid and a lodestar that always pointed us to the freedom we enjoy today. Through his words and by force of example, he embodies the important values of freedom, democracy, equality, diversity, respect, peace and conflict resolution, reconciliation and nationbuilding. These values define our nation. Because of their universality, the General Assembly of the United Nations decided that in order to honour the one who embodies such values, 18th of July is set aside as a day to call to action the citizens of the globe to recognise their ability to have a positive effect on others around them. It is this spirit of Ubuntu that propelled Madiba to fight for a
sustainable, humane and equitable world order. As people of KwaDukuza we must feel obliged to emulate this veteran of our struggle who is honoured the world over by doing whatever is necessary to achieve social cohesion and advance the cause of nation-building. We must deal with the critical challenges of drug and substance abuse, the abuse of women, children and elderly in order to build the society Madiba embodies. While the 94 year old continues to undergo treatment at the Medi clinic Heart Hospital, I am certain that we will continue to celebrate his life, inspired by his sacrifices and 67 years he sacrificed in the service of humanity. I encourage everyone to sacrifice 67 minutes of
their time to do that which will bring about positive change on M a n d e l a D a y, i n honour of his sacrifices. Become a Mandela Day Change maker. You can by giving a little of your time to make a difference to the less fortunate. On the occasion of the 95th birthday of Tata Madiba and the UN Nelson Mandela Day, we wish him a happy birthday and wish him a speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are also with his family during these difficult and challenging times. MN 163/2013

Essence of Life It's been said that God first separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and fish... all before making a human. He made and provided what we'd need before we were born. These are best & more powerful when eaten raw. We're such slow learners... God left us great clues as to what foods help what part of our body! God's Pharmacy! Amazing!
A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye... and YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes. A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All o f the research showstomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food. Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food. A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function. Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys. Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body. Avocadoes, Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them). Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well to overcome male sterility. Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.

Mexico captures leader of brutal drugs cartel (Aljazeera) - The brutal leader of one of Mexico's most notorious drug cartels, the “Los Zetas”, has been captured in a dawn raid in the gang's heartland. M i g u e l A n g e l Tr e v i n o Morales, known as “Z-40”, was arrested on Monday by Mexican marines outside his hometown of Nuevo Laredo, the gang's headquarters on the border with the United States. The marines intercepted a truck carrying Trevino Morales, $2 million in cash, a bodyguard and an accountant and eight guns, government spokesman Eduardo Sanchez said. Sanchez said the Marines had been watching the area for signs of Trevino Morales, who is charged with murder, torture, kidnapping and other crimes in the US and Mexico. Could your smartphone really give you a lethal electric shock? (CNN) - That question was on the minds of many Monday amid news that Apple is
investigating the death of a woman in China whose family said she was electrocuted after answering a call on her iPhone while the device was recharging. The death of Ma Ailun, 23, was first reported Sunday by China's Xinhua News Agency. Citing police reports and social media posts by Ma's family, Xinhua reported that Ma, who lived in China's western Xinjiang region, collapsed to the floor Thursday after using her iPhone 5 while the battery was being charged. Seven killed in Cairo clashes (BBC News) - Seven people have been killed in Cairo in overnight clashes between security forces and supporters of Egypt's ousted President Mohammed Morsi. Police used tear gas to drive back protesters, some hurling rocks, who had blocked a main route in the capital. The clashes came as a senior US envoy visited Egypt, saying it had been given a "second chance" at democracy.
William Burns met interim leaders but was snubbed by rival groups, including Mr Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood. Meanwhile, the first cabinet to take office since Mr Morsi was ousted has been sworn in in a televised ceremony. Morsi was ousted on 3 July in what many have said was a military coup. The army says it was fulfilling the demands of the people after mass anti-Morsi protests. Monteith's Cousin Asks Not To Judge 'What Is Gonna Be Coming Out' From Autopsy (Huffington Post) - Cory Monteith's fans are still waiting for answers as to the cause of his unexpected death on July 13, but his cousin Richard Monteith is asking everyone not to focus on what the autopsy and toxicology reports will prove. “Please don't judge on what is gonna be coming out,” Richard Monteith told Global News on Monday. “Glass half full. All the good things that he's done. There's more things on that side to focus on.” The "Glee" star's autopsy was completed Monday afternoon, a spokesperson for the British Columbia Coroner's Service told NBC News. The toxicology report can take six to eight weeks to process, but officials are trying to expedite the tests due to public interest in the matter.

Maama Salmah With Magic Ring & Muzigo Oil He Showed Me My Enemies
A few days back, Naicker testified about the wonderful Maama Salmah not to just sit but also tell the whole world about her. I was referred to her by a friend called Andria who booked an appointment. He charged me R100 to read my fortune. He told me my names and showed me almost everything going on in my life LIVE IN THE MIRROR. I was showed that my business had fallen and my wife had left for another man in German for 12 years. Maama Salmah cast a spell for me & later made arrangements & she came back. We are so happy together now and my business grew after I was helped by Maama Salmah. She is accurate, down to earth & a honest person to deal with. I had tried many but none could help and I must say Maama Salmah the grace of God. Maama Salmah who assisted my husband after 18 years, whose penis wasn’t working with a small size, poor erection, one minute ejaculations and not strong. She discovered a lot of witchcraft and cleansed him in 30 minutes and with in 2 hours the penis was perfectly enlarged and up to now there is no change it is permanent. I Sandile from Matatiele now based in phoenix recommended Maama Salmah as nice, safe and saves money with time. “ I still believe Maama Salmah is the only one who assisted my wife Lorah to decrease her breasts and increase her hips and bums in the last 4 years ” Kingsley S. Scientists are proving what cyclists have known for years that riding a bike has surprising effects on your brain chemistry. Several studies have proven that cycling regularly makes people smarter. Danish scientists found that a healthy diet helped students, but the way pupils travelled to
school was far more significant. Pupils that cycled to school performed better at tests than those who travelled to school by cars or public transport. Another study by the University of California in Los Angeles showed elderly people who cycled regularly and were most active had five percent more grey matter than those of the same age group who were
least active reducing their risk of developing Alzheimer's. John Ratey a professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and the author of Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain said that he can't point to a specific reason to how cycling improves the brain but has seen cycling improve the mental health of his severely
depressed patients. “Cycling increases a lot of the chemistry in your brain that makes you feel peaceful and calm. At the same time, the focus required to operate a bicycle, and for example negotiate a junction or jostle for space in a race, can be a powerful medicine,” said Dr Ratey. Cycling has even shown to change the structure of the brain. Doctor Jay Alberts a neuroscientist at the Cleveland Clinic Learner Research Institute in Ohio scanned the brains of 26 Parkinson's patients during an eight week exercise programme using stationary bikes. Of the 26 half of the patients were asked to cycle harder which showed a significant increases in connectivity between areas of grey matter responsible for motor ability in their brains. As a result from all the tests conducted it is proven that cycling regularly not only gives you the physique of Bradley Wiggins but also a healthier brain.

The sponsor will get to be pictured in the Xpress Times every month with the Manger of the Month and runner up. Please contact AK Hoosain for more information on the league at 032 551 1828/ 032 5523267.
We moved the location of the business several times and in 1996, we came back to our original location (Chief Albert Luthuli Street),” said Vadia. He added that the intention of the business was to supply the community with fresh meat, and to provide the Muslim community with easy access to halaal products. Ideal means 'perfect', and we strive to meet that challenge. In 2007, Ideal Butchery expanded and opened up a bakery and a deli. “We are always looking to improve the experience of customers, and we continuously upgrade equipment. Our policy has always been to provide best products and good prices,” said Vadia.

KDM’s first women Taekwondo black belts
Humaira Khan (22) and Karen Lawson (38) are the first women in KwaDukuza to achieve their black belts in Taekwondo (Korean Martial Arts) and Hapkido (Korean Self Defense) respectively. According to their Martial Arts instructor, Timur (Budo Martial Arts Centre), it took almost five years for them to obtain their black belts. “Both Humaira and Karen took part in numerous tournaments and it took years of hard work and dedication to achieve their black belts,” said Timur. Humaira now teaches kids Taekwondo and Karen is a Pilates Instructor. It is vital to take up self defense classes as it improves physical and mental health. sponsored the transport for the iLembe U19 and U21 netball teams that participated at the National Netball Championships that took place at eMalahleni in Mpumalanga. However, she was disappointed with the Local Municipalities that did not come aboard with sponsorship of players, albeit these players coming from the Local Municipalities. Khumalo has appealed to the Local Municipalities to sponsor players in future as they are also bringing honour to them. She said that due to other stakeholders not coming onboard to assist, the players ended up fundraising to cover t h e c o s t s o f accommodation and meals. Due to these constraints, many of the experienced players dropped off because they did not have the money or could not fundraise. However, Khumalo was full of praise for the young team that showed great talent. iLembe was place 10th in the U19 division and 6th in the U21 category.

KZN shines at Inter Provincial tournament
The winning KZN senior volleyball men's squad that returned with gold from Limpopo. Seen with them is the coach, Jason Govender and other technical officials from KZN
KwaZulu Natal Volleyball teams were outstanding at the Volleyball South Africa Inter Provincial championships that were held in Limpopo Province from 5-13 July 2013 were all teams received podium finishes. Stanger and District Volleyball association stood tall at the tournament as 9 local players were present in the KZN squad. Silas Chetty, Kyle Puckree, Sherwin Adyappa, Vinnie Singh and Cyprin Tulsiram were selected for the Boys U19 outfit with Pearl Dayi representing SDVA in KZN U19 ladies squad. Cameron Singh and Carnell Joseph were selected into the KZN U23 male squad with prolific centre, Damien 'Shrek' Peters the lone ranger in the KZN senior males team. Vice President of SDVA, Kruba Jairam was named General Manager of the teams. KwaZulu Natal teams were firing on all cylinders at the tournament with all teams claiming podium finishers. The cherry on the top for the KZN contingent was when their senior male
team outshone stiff competition to be crowned the VSA Inter Provincial champions. Damien 'Shrek' Peters should be proud to come back home with gold as he was pivotal in the senior male squad making the starting line up of the first six in the tournament. The senior female team can be considered unlucky as they could not emulate their male counterparts and were pipped at the finish line and had to settle for silver. The U23 KZN squad tried desperately for gold but once again had to settle for silver. The girls U19 squad could count themselves unlucky claiming second spot with their male counterparts, the U19 squad filling up the podium and medal haul coming in at third. SDVA President, Isaac Abraham heaped praise on the KZN teams and more especially to the SDVA players that did KwaDukuza proud. He also praised the consistent Peters for having made the starting line up for the senior squad.
SAFA iLembe represented in KZN team took place in Cape Town. The boys returned home with bronze medals as the KZN team finished third in the championships. President of SAFA iLembe, Thulani Gumbi said that as SAFA iLembe, they were proud with the kind of development that is taking
