Govender Vishnugopal (Doeshiee)

PR Ilembe District

GOVENDER VISHNUGOPAL (DOESHIEE) READY TO DELIVER My name is Vishnugopal Govender A.K.A Doeshiee. I've been nominated and chosen by the community to lead this beautiful multi-racial ward (28). The ANC deployed me as its candidate to lead and serve the people of ward 28 in the 2016 Local Government Elections. For the past 25 years I served my community in many deeds and ways until 2011 when I was also the ANC candidate for ward 22. Here again I proved to be a top candidate only to lose by below 200 votes. Reason being, the ward was incorrectly structured for the betterment of the opposition party! Everything good happened only for the elite areas from 2011 till 2016. The following budget was used to upgrade facilities within the much more affluent areas, example, construction of Sheffield power station to a tune of R30 million; road upgrade at Colwyn Drive in Salt Rock, R8 million, P447 Palm Lake Road, R9 million, Tinley Manor. 18 high profile streetlights installed within Salt Rock and Sheffield. In the entire Shakaskraal and C1 Nkobongo we received 4 streetlights and 5 speed humps. Shockingly the ruling party in our ward failed to call up a single public meeting in the five years of power! Come August 3rd 2016, lets do this for our people, lets make our ward a serviceable ward. Let us make peoples' interest our first priority. Simply do the correct thing and vote for the right person Vishnugopal Govender (Changing your life and community to the betterment of upliftment)

WARD 28 PLAN FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS VISION IN ACTION : • De-sludging and sewer connection in areas of C1 Nkobongo and Shaya-moya • Direct water connection to all households within C1 Nkobongo and Shaya-moya • Street naming of C1 Nkobongo and Shaya-moya • Renovations of RDP houses in C1 Nkobongo and Shaya-moya • Cleaning and grass-cutting of all streets within ward 28 • Special care giving to all child headed households, example, free electricity, water, food parcels as per child welfare initiation programmes • Assisting in all social grants, child support grants, all applicants must be in the pay files by SASSA within 30 days from application. Stamping out corruption by doctors and government institutions from over charging applicants (stop continuing doctors check-ups to qualify for

social grants) • Formation of Community Police Forum as per government act including the overseeing of local SAPS, stamping out corruption within the structures of Umhlali SAPS. • Fast tracking housing for all within ward 28 including Mello-wood Park housing, Shaya-moya, Nkobongo, C1 and Driefontein • Reassuring proper learning and feasible hours of Shakaskraal library more friendly environment. Installation of modern technology • The complete restructuring of Shakaskraal Clinic including adding more staff and opening 24/7 days in a week, with an ambulance service within to drop and pick up ailing patients • Reduction of rates and removal of sewer by Semcorp, Siza Water Including the scrapping of water reconnection fees. Never again will a household in ward 28 be completely shut down of water. Water is an essential use for all residents! • Reduction of rates and the removal • Overseeing all learning institutes, school government departments, etc. upholding the policies in promoting a non-racist and service excellence approach • A massive makeover of our CBD Day to day cleaning and refuse removal. Re-igniting the business houses in becoming the major players in the community. In the past 5 years, business within our CBD declined by 40% under the current councilor. It is a must for all concerned to relive the roaring trade days we had before 2011. • Government to assist all social and cultural organizations special or no charge electricity for churches, temples and mosques within ward 28, including a special rate for water from Siza water • Construction of a taxi rank and toilet facilities in our CBD • Formation of a help desk in assisting our youth in eradicating bad habits like drug and alcohol abuse, setting up proper channels where all affected can be assisted. • Assisting all farmers within ward 28 as farmers are the mainstay commodity in providing jobs for our people • Building of factories within our ward to create job opportunities • Building proper recreational facilities and halls within our ward

LET US RE-BUILD WARD 28!

COMRADES: From (L-R): Honourable Minister of Finance, Mr Pravin Gordhan, ANC Regional Executive Committee Member, Cllr Sandeep Oudhram, Ilembe Mayoral Candidate, Cllr Siduduzo Gumede and ANC Regional Secretary, Mr Thabani Mdlalose

Continued from page 1 “It was the ANC that said back then that we want all South Africans to live as equal citizens, enjoying equal rights, the right to vote and the rights that made up the freedom charter. That is why it is important to participate in the elections, get your friends and neighbours to vote,” said Gordhan. Pravin Singh (IFP Ward 19 candidate) asked the Minister to intervene in the Golf Course and Country Club Grounds issue describing the grounds as a century's old legacy. The Rocky Park housing issue

saw one man interrupt KZN housing MEC, Ravi Pillay in the middle of his response, when the MEC tried to explain how the scheme applications worked. ANC stalwart Gordhan also said: “Ask us the tough questions... see if we pass the test. It's not about the promises we make but the actual changes that took place in SA as a result of the ANC running this country for 22 years… Nobody can say that they have not seen changes in the last 22 years.” He also said that more people have access to education, to water, to electricity, to housing as the statistics are per the institute

of race relations and Statistics South Africa. Gordhan added that councillor candidates were saying to the citizens to vote for the ANC, as they promise when they become councillors, they will make sure the problems people are experiencing don't continue. “There will be a greater sense of urgency, willingness to serve you and admit that we may not have served you well in the past,” said the former Indian National Congress (INC) member. “Mr Paul David and the ANC will be watching to make sure the local ANC will be doing what it has to do,” concluded Gordhan.

R18 million rand electricity project unveiled By Nkosinathi Dube

KDM Mayor Ricardo Mthembu officially handed over electricity to the community of Ntsikeni in ward 27 to fulfil the promise of universal access to energy on Thursday, 14 July 2016. The project was launched in September last year as part of three other projects involving the Sokesimbone community in Dornkop and Driefontein in ward 21. Addressing the community at Ntsikeni Primary school the Mayor said this historic action reaffirms the call he made last year during September for a naught percent electricity backlog by the end of 2016. “Council has spent R18 million rand towards integrating the current infrastructure to cover three areas which had no electricity before, as we have connected 283 homes in Ntsikeni and 502 in Dooringkop”, he said. The handover by the Municipality was met with cheerful reactions from the community for the new electricity connections.

Fana Cele, 70, of Ntsikeni said things have not been smooth sailing down here; I've lived all my life without electricity but now our lives have improved since the introduction of this project a few weeks ago. “I would like to congratulate the Mayor for delivering this project on time, this shows the kind of leadership we have in our community leaders who listen and take serious action to change the live of other people , I am also thankful that the mayor has kept his promise and for listening to our concerns”, said Cele. The mayor also reiterated that it has been a huge responsibility for him to have been engaging these communities for far too long and it is a gratifying experience to deliver this project to the people on time. “It is also a historic milestone for council and a life changing experience for local people who have been here for the greater part of their lives”, said Mthembu. The project is providing for

First floor. JN Naidoo Centre Cllr Welcome

The latest water crisis that is rocking numerous areas in KwaDukuza is leaving residents absolutely frustrated if social media is anything to go by. The hardest hit community of Glenhills has up to Tuesday, 19 July 2016 gone without a drop of water for seven days. Other

Mdabe. The issue of the CBD and other areas having water while other areas have none, the Mayor said due to the “design of the system, not discrimination” that the CBD will always have water. It must be noted that the Mayor did not know about the Glenhills water crisis as per him admitting this in the press conference in front of media. Ilembe hires 22 tankers which cost R 5 500 / day to service four local Municipalities. Regarding the Call Centre, the Mayor said he phoned as he was coming within KwaDukuza nearing the Call Centre. With phone still ringing, he walked into the Call Centre to find that all phones were being used to his surprise. He said he would ask I.T. to ascertain why it still rings. The Mayor, said the district and

the whole province as well is no longer faced with a disaster in the form of water shortage but with a crisis. “The Hazelmere Dam is currently at 43% and Ilembe District Municipality shares that 43% with eThekwini Municipality. To ensure that we lengthen the availability of water, Umgeni Water has allocated Ilembe District Municipality with 50% allocation of our normal consumption. If we finish this allocation in two weeks, this means that the rest of the two weeks of that month we have to rely on supplying water with tankers. Hazelmere Dam supplies Ndwedwe Local Municipality as well as the southern areas of

KwaDukuza from Zimbali to Groutville. The tankers get the water from Mandeni Local Municipality and because of the topography and the vastness of these areas, this is proving to be very expensive,” he said. The Umvoti Waterworks which supplies the northern areas of KwaDukuza from the CBD to New Guelderland is currently producing eight million litres a day via the depleting Umvoti River. “Before the drought, Umvoti Waterworks produced 18 million litres. We have been constantly monitoring since the drought began and we have seen it go from 18 to 15 to 12 to and now 8 million litres today,” said the Mayor.

Councillors' integrity comes into question around election time By Nkosinathi Dube

Local government elections are just around the corner and political parties are going all out to ensure they gain favour with the voters. Around this time councillors are the ones who are in the spotlight the most in terms of having to deliver. As people elect the person whom they think would deliver in the five year period. But in recent years this theory in local government hasn't yielded positive results and as such raise the question of whether councillors have the people's interest at heart. Candice Reddy of Glenhills, said the always persisting water problems and lack of basic services in the area shows the incompetence of some of the councillors. “I really don't think these people have the best interest of people, yet they draw a fat salary every month,” she said. The number of service delivery protests in recent months around the country shows a growing concern from the public about the pace of service delivery by municipal councillors. Another resident from Townview in KwaDukuza said with councillors there are always promises made but not fulfilled. “They just want our votes and there is always no water every other day and roads need to be repaired urgently, yet the benefit from us with a fat salary”, he said. The question remains, are councillors just in it for the money and not to serve and help people and who is footing the bill for their salaries. Councillor's salaries should reflect the work they do for the community as they the represent the municipality at ground level. The dear and the near are representing almost every party (ANC, DA, IFP, MF etc), “The Has Beens” have made a come back as well. Have they not made enough money over the years to care for their families and themselves and let a peoples person earn “The councillors salary”. It has to be the money as candidates have put their names on many a ward. TATA MA CHANCE, become a councillor.

Manor learners win prestigious award CREATIVE GENIUS: Learners from Stanger Manor Secondary holding their prized trophy with Citi officials looking on

ROAD ACCIDENT FUND / MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE CLAIMS Have you been seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident or the victim of possible medical negligence?

Learners from Stanger Manor Secondary School were recently placed second at this year's JA South Africa Company of the Year Competition for their community-driven Medical Alert Bracelet business idea. Glamorous Creations, the

business developed by the learners during their JA South Africa's Mini Enterprise Programme, invented a Medical Alert Bracelet that allows the person wearing the bracelet to carry vital medical information on them in style.

“Not everybody can go around looking for water” This letter is directed to our current Mayors who we look up to for leadership and guidance. I would like to know what are the long term solutions to the water crisis? Are there plans in place to resolve the current water crisis? Have they requested assistance from Siza water and Umgeni Water who are currently managing water crises in municipalities far larger than ours? What happened to the recycling water project? Is that a viable option going forward? Why can't we recycle water in KwaDukuza? If all the municipalities recycle water and this becomes common practice then based on the law of supply and demand, the production of recycled water should become cheaper. Pure drinking water, spring water, etc. can be purchased from retailers by those unwilling to consume it. Has the restoration of the Umvoti River ever been considered? That project could ensure that water is caught during rains. If you travel on the R102 you can see the River bed covered in vegetation and the damage sand miners have caused. What about clearing the alien weed covering the river beds and wetlands since these plants suck up the precious liquid? How about constructing a dam in a natural catchment area so that when the Heavens open up we can conserve as much after as possible? A dam will also open up opportunities for creating a natural environment to picnic thus enhancing tourism. Have the officials considered contributing towards more oxygen and creating more shade to reduce evaporation? The plant 30 000 trees per year to combat the effects of global warming has already begun overseas. Will we be the last to join the

The Competition acknowledged the growing importance of entrepreneurship among young South Africans who have potential to contribute towards the country's economic prosperity and is hosted in partnership with Citi.

project? If any of us survive the drought? Please, dear Mayors, let us cast our differences aside, let us destroy our pride and plead for help and consider all solutions. Not everybody can go around looking for water. The old, sickly, children heading households have no idea where the next drop is coming from. Please think about the citizens who are looking to you for a way out of this nightmare. Lastly if all else fails, let us encourage Hindus to continuously conduct the sacred Hawan in huge numbers. The butter ghee combined with mango wood and the Hawan mix creates a chemical reaction when lit that induces rain on a cloudy day. I look forward to reading your answers. Nervous Breakdown Glenhills

MAMA ALISHA

THANKS MAMA ALISHA ITS REALLY HAPPENING NOW WITH YOU I am Carl from Ballito and am here to testify to my fellow South Africans about a miracle I encountered when I visited MAMA ALISHA to help me fix my financial situation. I was almost left homeless as I had lost my home and car to fake traditional healers. On my visit she gave different ways of helping me and chose the magic wallet that brings 25000 everyday and paid her 70 000 every week from the money I made from the magic wallet. I told my cousin Petros about it and he too chose the rats that bring money in the house after which he got 40 000 and paid 9000. Mama Alisha. I know it's the same way you can be helped you have to see to believe so visit her or call her 0710223640 MY WIFE TOLD ME TO GO TO HELL WHEN I WAS POOR BUT SHE WANTS ME BACK BECAUSE IM RICH I am Cliff from Umhlanga. I came to know about Mama Alisha from Auntie Merina who lives in Stanger and had previously visited her with a financial problem and it had been fixed. I had lost all my money, cars, business some of which was left to me by my late parents. When things went real bad. My wife told me to go to hell and started having affairs looking out for rich men and when I confronted her about it she told me go to hell, left me alone and went. I suffered for almost 2 years but meeting Mama Alisha rose me up again. She gave me a magic wallet with which I could get money daily inside my house. I opened up a new business worth 2 million rands bought 2 new cars and when my wife heard that I am up again she wants me back, thinking of forgiving her but am not sure. Only that she is the mother of my 3 kids. I can forgive her for only that. If Alisha bought my life back to normal, I know she can help you too.
