Brigadier is SAPS closing down? Continued from page 1 “When it comes to crime fighting, we still need the security companies and invited them to come on board and discussed how we could tackle crime in the CBD,” she said. She added that her vision of an 'integrated approach,' earmarked for next week Wednesday, involving municipal police, security companies and the KwaDukuza SAPS- will see criminals question their own safety and the economy of the town will improve. “I am still pleading to all the business people, if we can have a partnership, make sure that even if you don't have CCTV
cameras please employ security persons,” said the acting Cluster Commander. She then added that businesses should make sure that security companies they employ are giving them value for money. Manjoo said in conclusion: “We urge all retailers to unite by joining the association. We can achieve so much more if we represent a unified front. This will ensure that our concerns, views and suggestions are heard and that we are acknowledged by the 'powers that be'' that we are vital contributors to economic growth, employment, the rates base and to the overall upliftment, stability and stability of our town.”

Con Artist duo exploits community's vulnerability By Xpress Reporter
A con artist tag team duo of an Indian male and female were apprehended by NForce Security on Thursday, November 14, 2013. It is alleged that the elderly woman and her accomplice misled a so-called client by telling them that she can help them get rid of their bad luck. The duo then visit unassuming targets and claim to find the voodoo material that they have allegedly planted. According to Nitesh, the owner of NForce, he saw a
voodoo doll with needles stuck on it. “Luckily for my client our security cameras at their premises caught the two in the act and we apprehended them,” he said. Four other businessmen have been allegedly conned by these people and have spent a lot of money paying them (con artists) to help them get rid of their “bad luck.” An unnamed source says she calls her client to her house then she lights a cigarette and the client tells her their problems.
“The next step involves the burning of incense sticks were she connects with the so call 'spirits' and proceeds to tell us whether, example one of your enemies went to a herbalist and cast a spell on you. She then recommends using herbal substances from her recommended herbalist. “This is when she request ridiculous sums of money. I found a bottle with a piece of red fabric tied around neck of the bottle in my yard. Ever since that incident she always told me that I needed to do more prayers which led to more money been spent.
At the time I was so vulnerable that I believed my life would change for the better. I spent close to R15 000 and now I am more paranoid then ever thinking every bad situation linked to bad luck means 'someone put it for me'.” The accused appeared in court on Friday and only the female suspect was released on bail on Friday while her accomplice's bail was only paid on Sunday. Police confirmed that the suspects were arrested but couldn't comment any further.

iLembe celebrates with teachers By Xpress Reporter
CONGRATULATIONS: From: (L-R): Her Worship the Deputy Mayor of iLembe District Municipality, Councilllor Dolly Shandu with the Teacher of the Year winner, Ms Selvi Govender
Her Worship the Deputy Mayor of iLembe District Municipality, Councillor Dolly Shandu joined African Bank last Wednesday to celebrate the hard work of local primary school teachers that were part of the bank's 2013 literacy programme. The event, dubbed the 2013 Teachers Celebration, was held at the KwaDukuza Town Hall on November 13 where the Teacher of the Year award was announced. Councillor Shandu thanked and congratulated African Bank for its vision and commitment to develop
the people. “Such a commitment is evidenced by the various Corporate Social Investment programmes that have been delivered in the district to date benefiting more than 35 151 citizens. Your efforts in the fields of education, entrepreneurial support, science, agriculture and sport are appreciated by the iLembe District Municipality and emphasise the President of the Republic of South Africa's plea for the private sector to play a positive role in changing the lives of our people. Government cannot not do it alone,” she said.
125 teachers have been trained within this literacy programme and 7000 learners have benefited since the inception of the project. Ms Selvie Govender from Stanger Manor Primary School walked away with the Teacher of the Year award taking home a certificate and R5 000 in prize money. Enterprise iLembe pilot project to help millions By Xpress Reporter
A pilot project to feed rural school children in iLembe District, north of Durban has been flourishing so much that it is going to be extended to the rest of the province next January.“It is going extremely well and is going to change rural poverty,” predicted Mike Newton, the Head of Economic Development at Enterprise iLembe, the Economic Development Agency of iLembe District Municipality. The flagship project, which began in January, has already supplied fresh, high-quality lunches to more than 155 000 children in some 400 rural primary, secondary and special schools in the region. children live in some of the poverty stricken communities in the province, and that welcome meal, comprising a range of fresh vegetables, enables them to concentrate on their studies. The Schools Nutrition Programme is a poverty alleviation project and as well as feeding children, it is also providing a much-needed income for the 500-plus farmers and their helpers-more than 1 000 in total-who are already growing the vegetables. The project is being run by the local economic development agency, Enterprise iLembe, a district municipal entity. It was selected by the provincial
Department of Education as it has the most advanced development agency in the province. Enterprise iLembe called in the experts from Sigma International, a Durbanbased management consultancy, which specializes in implementation to assist with the roll-out of the project. Newton said that after he addressed the KZN cabinet on the progress of the scheme, it was decided to roll it out in the other 10 district municipalities throughout the province, starting in January .That will extend the programme to some two million school children in more than 5 000 schools. The vegetables are then transported by Enterprise Ilembe to agricultural hubscold storage facilities-where 22 people have already got temporary jobs. The vegetables are packed into the correct amounts for each school and are collected by service providers who distribute them to the schools. The meals are prepared by dedicated food handlers. Alfred Ndlanzi (35) is on thin ice. It is alleged by his aunt, Glady Mulanzi, that the errant unemployed man who lives with her was hell-bent on burning her house. He was furious and alleged that her son owed him money. Grabbing a box of matches, he ran out of the house and threw a burning stick onto the curtains which caught alight. She managed to extinguish the flames and prevented more damage to her house. Despite making threats he returned home and police later arrested him. He is due back at court on 3 December.
Diwali woes There is no festive occasion which does not have a sequel in our courts. Shane Bissessur of Happy Valley alleges that on Diwali Day he questioned his neighbour, Meshack Pillay (18) about hurling loud fireworks at their house. Bissessur alleges that he was met by a tirade of verbal abuse, threats and vulgar language. As Bissessur tried to reason with the youth he allegedly picked up a brick and struck him on the head. Pillay appeared in court and was granted bail. He is due back at court on 14 January 2014.
Moral degeneration So much, so few men. This could well have been the mindset of Percy Mkhize. It is alleged by Precious Mabaso that at about 5:30am she received an SMS from Mkhize informing her that she and Mabaso's boyfriend are an item and she ought to back off. She went to her boyfriend's house and found Mkhize in the doorway whilst the boyfriend was ironing. On questioning her boyfriend as to what was going on he began to pull her hair, kicked, punched and slapped her whilst Mkhize mocked and egged him on. Sakile Gcaba (28) is due back at court on 2 December together with his two girlfriends in an effort for
No hammer-head Nthokozo Buthelezi of the Glenhills area alleges that at about 6am he was at his house when he was approached by a local who was carrying a hammer and cane knife. For no reason, the man began swearing at him, swearing his mother and threatening to burn down his house. When Buthelezi saw that the culprit was serious he fled but the man managed to catch up with him and struck him on the head and his ears with the hammer. John Nhlane (36) was charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He is due back at court on 8 January.
A bad son Millicent Mhlaba's woes with her wayward son appear to have no end in sight. She alleges that during October she was in her bedroom. She noticed her son fishing her handbag out of the room on a plank. As she confronted him he fled but she and her sister managed to retrieve the handbag from which R500 was missing. Angered by his constant stealing, she reported the matter and last week police caught him at court whilst attending a friend's case. Philani Mhlaba (26) is due back in court on 23 January 2014.
The alcohol man Morris Thusi allegedly lost his house key. However, last Wednesday he was contacted by a neighbour who spotted a youth coming from his house carrying a packet of alcohol. On questioning the youth, he became abusive and walked off. Thusi quickly alerted friends and they went in search of the youth. They located him at a local store and found him in possession of several bottles of alcohol as well as the lost key. It is unknown at this stage why Thusi had such a large quantity of alcohol stolen from his inside range of display, however, common sense dictates why. Zakhele Mthetwa (30) is expected to seek bail at court this week.

iLembe Mayor condemns Mandeni’s HIV infection rate By Xpress Reporter
iLembe District Mayor, Councillor Welcome Mdabe addressed residents at the oThukela Sports Ground in Mandeni on November 16 for a community meeting to discuss the Environmental Impact Assessment of the Macambini Bulk Water Supply Project. Councillor Mdabe, who is also the Chairperson of the iLembe District Aids Council said that in a period of three months this year, an alarming 8 000 new HIV infections were reported across the seven clinics in Mandeni. “5 300 of those new infections are females and 4 000 of those females are between the ages of
15 to 24 years. The most disturbing thing is that it is men my age who are spreading this virus and are running after young girls,” he said. At the meeting, Mayor Mdabe said there is a clear need for a men's forum in the district. He added that no rape will take place in the district and go unnoticed. “We are tired of rape and we say enough is enough. This is more than we can bear. From now on when a rape occurs we will go to the home of the rapist to see for ourselves what kind of person does this. We will then go to the victim's family to show our support like we do when there is a
death in a family. We will go to court and tell the magistrate that we no longer need the rapist in our community. We will tell the magistrate, should this person come back we will deal with them ourselves,” said Mdabe. The District Mayor said this movement will be led by himself, the local mayor, councillors, the Chief and Indunas. Ending his talk, the mayor pleaded with the residents to have HIV tests done. “There is medication available. Being infected is not something to be ashamed of and it certainly does not mean a death sentence. What's important is taking care of yourself,” he said.

Communities of Macambini, Manda Farm and the outskirts of the Mandeni central business area will, in no time, no longer have to drink unpurified Thukela River water shared with animals thanks to the Macambini Bulk Water Supply Project. Mayor of iLembe District Municipality Councillor SW Mdabe revealed this on Saturday, 16 November at the oThukela Sports Ground where a community meeting was held to discuss the project's Environmental Impact Assessment. Speaking Shri Saraswathie Prayer Group of Glenhills (a non-profit organisation in aid of funds) proudly a t t h e presents Johnny Pillay’s brand new concept featuring... meeting South Africa’s Leading Indian King of Comedy M a y o r Mdabe said i t w a s important

for the municipality to have the EIA meeting so that the community can play a role in making sure that their basic need for water is met properly without negatively impacting on the environment. The Macambini Bulk Water Supply Project will see a 6, 2 kilometre long HDP (plastic) pipe being constructed thus carrying water from Resevoir A in Sundumbili to J1, Majuba and Manda Farm areas all the way below the railway line near Sappi to the Mandeni Pump Station with other smaller pipes feeding into these areas. Work on the project is scheduled to begin in June next year and is expected to create 60 temporary jobs and five permanent posts with local contractors with Grade 1 to 3 also standing to benefit in the project.
Mayor Mdabe told residents the reason it had taken so long to bring the project to the people was because of the nonsettling of water accounts by ratepayers. Mayor Ndabe alerted residents to the fact that iLembe is owed R251 million by ratepayers. Mandeni Municipality Mayor Cllr Siphesihle Zulu said he was confident the Macambini Bulk Water Supply Project would be successful because of the good relationship between iLembe, the local municipality, the traditiona leaders, councillors and ward committees. “The important thing here is that we as the community want water and that is why we are here today. This project will open doors for other development project for our area,” he said.

Bekungewona unyaka wami...
Baningi abantu abahlala becula leliculo 'Bekungewona unyaka wami,' ngoba ebona kungekho lutho oluhle alwenzile. Okungithusayo ukuthi nonyaka odlule uthena ususemaphethelweni, waqala walicula leliculo. Inkinga ukuthi sihlale sicabanga ukuthi unyaka kukhona osiphathele khona, ingakho size sizibone sesiphuma kuwona singasenzanga lutho nje. Ngicela ungisize kulonyaka ozayo, kuke kube nguwe ophathele unyaka okuhle okuthile ozokwenza. Nonyaka u2010 wawuthi ngowakho kodwa wagcina ngokuthi ube nejezi leBafana Bafana nje kuphela. Vuka uzithintithe ke, uzitshele ukuthi u-2014 uzozwa wena futhi uzobe ubukela wena. Leliculo lokuthi 'Bekungewona unyaka wakho' makube ngokokugcina ulicula kulonyaka, kodwa uqambe elisha elithi: 'Ngibusisiwe futhi ngiyisibusiso.’
Siwabulalelani amadoda uma engasasifuni? Sekukaningi umuntu ezwa ngezigameko zokubulawa kwamadoda, ebulawa ngamakhosikazi noma izinqandamathe zawo. Isikhathi esiningi kuye kuvele ukuthi imbangela kube ngukuthi indoda isiqonyiwe, isikhombisa ukungabi nandaba nonkosikazi wayo kanti enye isuke isiphezu kwamalungiselelo okumshiya nangokuhlukanisa naye. Owesifazane yena kubonakala sengathi uye akhalele isikhathi sakhe nothando lwakhe okuye kugcine sekumenze waba nenhliziyo embi ngendlela yokuthi aze athathe isinqumo sokuthi uma lendoda ingasezukuba ngeyakhe, akekho oyoke akwazi ukuthandana nayo. Ngakho ke abone kahle ukuthi akukho ukwenza ngenye indlela, ngaphandle kokuthi ayibulale. Yebo, khona kubuhlungu ukuchayiswa umuntu omthandayo kodwa asikho isidingo esingako sokuthi umuntu usengaze akhiphe isidumbu! Uma abantu besifazane bengase bayeke ukuthatha izimpilo zabo bazincikise kwabanye abantu, lokhu kubulawa kwamadoda kungagwemeka. Noma ngabe usothandweni kangakanani kodwa kubalulekile ukuthi uqhubeke nokwenza izinto ozithandayo, uzithuthukise ngokwemfundo, okomsebenzi nangokomnotho. Lokhu kuyasiza kakhulu ekuthini umuntu noma esehlangabezana nenkinga yokuphela komshado wakhe, angacabangi kakhulu aze acishe amelwe ingqondo ngoba esezibuza ukuthi konje uzothathani ayihlanganise
nani. Ukugana umuntu okuyekisa umsebenzi nongafuni ukuthi wenze izinto ezizokuthuthukisa njengokuqhubeka nokufunda noma u k u z i q a l e l a ibhizinisi, kuyofanele ukubuke ngelinye iso ngoba angeke ube naso isiqiniseko sokuthi lowomuntu useyoba ngu: 'sofa silahlane' wakho ngempela yini. Ikho kanye futhi lokhu okuyoba imbangela yokuthi umcabangele kabi uma esekushiya ngoba usukhalela izinto eziningi akuvimbele kuzona nebezizokududuza uma senihlukana. Kuyavela ngempelaukuthi ukubulawa kwamadoda ezimweni ezifana nalezi, kungenxa yokuthi owesifazane usuke efuna ukuzuza ezimalini zamafa. Abantu besifazane kodwa ake bazibuze ukuthi bangaki asebake bakwenza lokhu bagcina bengabanjwanga. Umuntu azibuze nje ukuthi, kusizani ukukhipha umphefumulo womuntu ngoba uthi uyamlaya kodwa nawe ube uzogcina usubolela ejele. Kuyofanela sikwamukele ukuthi ubudlelwano bezothando buyafana ncamashi nomkhumbi, ngakho ke kuyokwenzeka bucwile ngelinye ilanga.

The Silent Revolution
An important way of measuring the impact of crime upon society is to assess the effectiveness, efficiency and attitudes of the S.A.P. towards service delivery. Whilst most crimes are reported to the police it is the response of our police that is disturbing. Many of us are aware of the role and purpose of the police, however, only a minority are critical of their crime fighting performance. Since the police have been given a carte balance way of operating and not being accountable to the public poor service delivery has become the order of the day. I have conducted an unofficial survey on service delivery by interviewing several persons to understand what I agreed with before undertaking this exercise' As a resident of this area since birth I have been privileged to have been a member since the time of one Captain CF Lemmer, Colonel Leon Van Rooyen and Captain Nunkumar. When comparing the dedication, loyalty and pride of officers from
that era until today there has been a dramatic decrease in the work ethic and commitment during this period. I know several officers from that era still try to maintain the standard but are faced with challenges by this so called “new - crap" of Management and co-workers. This Police Station once had one of the most effective and wellmanned Business watch systems. Foot patrols were a common sight and the manner in which the CBD was patrolled had a major impact on crime & criminals. Today to find officers patrolling on foot is as rare as a fowl with teeth. Instead one finds several junior officers driving around in a mini bus. Whatever happens to social crime prevention and community policing? Who can forget the exploits of the police during the 80's covering most pages of the local tabloids as today we the public do not even know the name of the station commander! There was a time when a police official earns the respect of the community by their story, discipline and hard honest work. Today we find officers walking about without a cap on, carrying back-packs and portraying a picture that does not instill confidence. No news is given about the positives of our local police who have a constable as a police - spokesperson when so
many senior and experienced officers are still around. Look at the senior management of our station. Who are they and where do they come from? Do they have any interest in us or this area? What is the role and function of CPF and who are the office Bearers? When last have we witnessed a police / community project aimed at tackling a specific problem? Remember the role played by one officer in particular in the street - children saga together with several other community groupings which resulted in a shelter for the children? Look at the response time to reports of crime or incidents. Are we getting value for money? The station needs to be honest about its limitations and should seek the co-operation of civil society and the general public in improving our station all round. To boost public confidence and the ability of the police to combat crime, the public need to be informed about legislature indicates and operational improvements have to be marketed to the public. Crime levels and feelings of insecurity are reaching levels that will erode public confidence in the constitution and the rule of law. I humbly appeal to the station commander to implement SAPS foot patrol. Councillor Andrew Gopaul

Condemnation of cartoon As a community activist and a staunch Hindu, I strongly condemn cartoonist Zapiro's extremely offensive depiction of our Hindu deity Ganesha. I want to warn you that religion is close to a person's heart. People have been killed because of reckless statements. I found the cartoon of Lord Ganesha holding a cricket bat and money, while Cricket SA Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat is stabbed as a sacrifice to him by Cricket South Africa, in very poor taste. The cartoon, by award-winning Jonathan appeared in the Sunday Times. I am proud of our constitution which enshrines freedom of speech but the right to say and do something does not make it right. Rights must come with responsibilities. I believe that no one must use any religion as a drawing board for cartoons and I call this person an intolerant racist who deserves to be punished. I am saying Zapiro's cartoon was blasphemous, antagonistic and destructive. I also call on the presidents of the South African Hindu Maha Saba and the South African Tamil Federation to pursue legal action should Shapiro and Oppelt not issue an unconditional apology and retraction. God bless South Africa. Community Activist - Roy Naidoo - Darnall

Some researchers hypothesize that a problem with neurogenesis causes both the small hippocampus as well as depression; others caution that the causal arrow may be reversed, with a small hippocampus leading to problems with neurogenesis and depression.

May prevent and slow the progression of Alzheimer's disease by removing amyloyd plaque buildup in the brain. 8. May prevent metastases from occurring in many different forms of cancer. 9. It is a potent natural antiinflammatory that works as well as many anti-inflammatory drugs but without the side effects. 10. Has shown promise in
slowing the progression of multiple sclerosis in mice. 11. It is a natural painkiller and cox-2 inhibitor. 12. May aid in fat metabolism and help in weight management. 13. Has long been used in Chinese medicine as a treatment for depression. 14. Because of its antiinflammatory properties, it is a natural treatment for arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. 15. Promising studies are underway on the effects of turmeric on pancreatic cancer. 17. Studies are ongoing in the positive effects of turmeric on multiple myeloma. 18. Has been shown to stop the growth of new blood vessels in tumors. 19. Speeds up wound healing and assists in remodeling of damaged skin. 20. May help in the treatment of psoriasis and other inflammatory skin conditions. Turmeric can be taken in powder or pill form. It is available in pill form in most health food stores, usually in 250-500mg capsules. Once you start using turmeric on a regular basis, it's fun to find new ways to use it in recipes. My favorite way to use it is to add a pinch of it to egg salad. It adds a nice flavor and gives the egg salad a rich yellow hue. Contraindications: People with gallstones or bile obstruction should not use Turmeric. Though turmeric is often used by pregnant women, it is important to consult with a doctor before doing so as turmeric can be a uterine stimulant.

Mama Rashim
Sometimes God tests us to see what we can do. It wasn’t easy for me for the past 6 years. My name is Mohammed Bawn from Hutten Heights. Like I said above, my wife left me for another man with my children. She left me with nothing. As a man without a family, you’re nothing. I tried to buy expensive cars and gifts but nothing changed. That's when I saw Mama Rashim advert in the newspapers and heard people talking about him. I decided to go to him. When I went to see him, he was so friendly and he gave me hope that one day i would get my family back. Although I couldn't believe he prayed because I had no faith. Things started tto change when I started having faith in him. Now I am with my lovely wife and children.

KSST lift Sanchez Spur crown
KSST are the 2013 Sanchez Spur KO kings. They are flanked by Desen Nadasen and Evelyn Govender
KSST bounced back, after relinquishing their league title to Grove End, to clinch the Sanchez Spur knockout tournament last Thursday. They had the better of Randsons who had no reply for determined KSST lads and went down in straight sets. KST were first to find their rhythm as they raced to a 15-10 lead in the first set. The combination of Damien 'Shrek' Peters, Cameron Singh and Sherwin Daniels proved to be
the perennial thorn in Randsons skin. Numerous unforced back court errors by Mohammed Cassim, Sandhir “Tin Boy' Jugmohan and Neeraj Bageloo did not help Randsons cause. Randsons managed to reduce the deficit to 13-17 but KSST held to much fire power in their armory as they won the first set 25-18. Levan Mudaly was superior in his defense against the Randsons attack. The second set began the

to race to 12-1 lead. From here on, there was a mini recovery by Randsons who clawed their way back to trail 10-15, thanks mainly to excellent attacking from Tin Boy and Cassim. However, the fight back was a little too late to ruffle the feathers of the confident Byron Athymoolan and his team as they went on to clinch the game and the crown with a fluent 2518 victory. The game was witnessed by the owner of Sanchez Spur, Desen Nadasen and CEO, Evelyn Govender. The presentation of awards was held at Sanchez Spur immediately after the final and thereafter, the players were treated to a sumptuous meal. At the presentation, SDVA President thanked Nadasen and Govender for their generous sponsorship and said that he hoped that this newfound relationship will grow in the years to come.

TIME TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE WIITH GREAT BABA DUBE I wish I knew great Baba Dube a long time ago. I would have not wasted a lot of money by visiting lots of herbalists and doctors including Sangoma’s to sort my financial problems. I decided to visit him with my wife and my brother in law, after I heard about him through my colleague who he helped bring her husband back after 3 years of seperation and he gave us different ways but I chose the magic wallet that brings me R10 000.00 everyday and I pay him R30 000.00 every week from the R70 000.00 that I get every week (7days) and my wife chose the short boys to put money in her bank account but it was like a miracle to see R200 000.00 in her account that Baba Dube used his short boys to put money in the account and she paid him R50 000.00 while my brother in law chose to win the Lotto and Baba Dube used his powers to see the lucky numbers appearing on the draw and he won the draw and he told him to pay 30% from that money he won, There is no way we Tshabalala family can thank him other than informing the people who got financial problems about him. DON’T HESITATE JUST CALL GREAT BABA DUBE

Actions speak louder than words What's your perception of 1.5metres? Is it from here to there or further away? 1.5metres is the length of an average bicycle. Longer than you thought? Next time you drive past a cyclist, err on the side of caution and give them an extra-wide berth.
I am NTOMBIFUTHI MKHIZE a mother of three aged 36 born in Ladysmith but now I live in Soweto and my contact number is 078 0600 796. I have been reading different testimonies in various newspapers for people that Baba Dube helped through their testimonies to be sure because I lost lots of money to different sangomas, doctors and herbalists who promised me to help me through my financial and love problems that I suffered for many years. But everyone I called gave me 100% promise and guarantee that Baba Dube will change my life like the way he did to them. Early in the morning I called him and he gave me different ways but I chose the SHORT BOYS to put R500.000 in my bank account. It happened exactly the way he said it and I paid him R100.000. After that I was very excited and asked him if I can use MAGIC WALLET to get R10,000 everyday and he promised to deliever within 24hrs so that he can show me how it works to get R10.000 everyday and asked me to pay him R30,000 per week from the R70,000 that I get everyweek for only a year . To thank Baba Dube, I introduced him to myy uncle and his wife and they chose to win LOTTO and POWERBALL. Baba Dube gave them their lucky numbers appearing on the 10th spetmeber powerball draw while his wife won the lotto on the 18th September. They both paid him 30% of their winnings. Now they use RATS tobring money into the house everyday and they pay every week. I published this testimony to thank Baba Dube for changing my life and also to inform everybody who got serious financial problems and love problems to contact Baba Dube now before you waste your money to herbalist and doctors who promise to help but fail and leave you in bigger problems than before. India’s master blaster Sachin Tendulkar calls it a day Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar wept as he left the pitch for the final time on Saturday after his 200th Test match, ending a dazzling career spanning nearly a quarter of a century. The master batsman, who has god-like popularity across India, waved to thousands of cheering, emotional fans and wiped tears from his eyes as he left the field through a guard of honour formed by his teammates at Mumbai's Wankhede stadium. In a lengthy and poignant speech on the field after the match against the West Indies in his hometown, Tendulkar thanked everyone who had supported him, from family members and friends, coaches and managers through to teammates and ardent fans. He began by paying tribute to his father who passed away in 1999, saying that "without his guidance I don't think I would be standing in front of you". The cricketer thanked his mother and other relatives individually, prompting tears from his wife Anjali as he praised her and his "two precious diamonds” their son Arjun, 14, and daughter Sara,
