We will therefore table a Special Appropriation Bill on an urgent basis to allocate a significant portion of the R230 billion fiscal support that Eskom will require over the next 10 years in the early years.” Ramaphosa said that the private sector has committed to invest R840 billion in 43 projects over 19 sectors and creating 155,000 jobs in the next five years. “As announced in the previous SONA, Government has set aside R100 billion to seed the Infrastructure Fund.” Over the medium term budget period, R3.9 billion has been allocated to the Land

Bank to support black commercial farmers. Regarding education, the President said that all foundation and intermediate phase teachers are to be trained to teach reading in English and the African languages, and they are training and deploying a cohort of experienced coaches to provide high quality on-site support to teachers. He said that violent crime is a societal problem that requires a society-wide response. “The South Africa we want is a country where all people are safe and feel safe. Let us therefore work together to ensure that violent crime is at least halved over the next decade. The first step is to increase police visibility by employing more policewomen and men, and to create a more active role for citizens through effective community policing forums.” “We are stepping up the fight against drug syndicates through the implementation of the National Anti-Gang Strategy and the revised National Drug Master Plan,” he added. Former Ndwedwe Mayor murdered By Xpress Reporter

The former Mayor of N d w e d w e L o c a l Municipality, Maxwell Hadebe, was allegedly shot and killed last week. According to reports, the 50year-old was at his business premises around 19:00 when an unknown assailant fired at him through the door. The ANC in KwaZuluNatal expressed their shock regarding the alleged murder of the former Mayor. “Cde Max, as he was affectionately known, was killed in a hail of bullets outside his business which he had opened after serving as Mayor of Ndwedwe Local Municipality between 2011 and 2016 and the circumstances surrounding his death are mysterious at the

moment. We are very worried about these killings, of course we can't attribute his killing to that of a 'political killing', however any killing of an activist in the ANC is a killing that is worrying and we call on the task team to undergo a thorough investigation of what actually happened following the circumstances of his death,” said Cde Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu, Provincial Spokesperson. “Cde Max had also served as Regional Deputy Chairperson from 2012-2014 and was an ordinary member of the ANC at the time of his death. The ANC sends its deepest condolences to the Hadebe family during this difficult time and calls on the task team to not only arrest the perpetrators but also ensure a conviction, which

will in turn give the Hadebe family much needed closure.” KZN MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), Sipho Hlomuka, said that they are “shocked and saddened by brutal killing of the former Mayor, who remained a community activist and contributed his ideas in support of other councillors even though he was no longer a councillor. “His senseless murder has resulted in a great loss for the sphere of local government as Hadebe was a true servant of the people. He dedicated his life to the service of his community and left no stone unturned in his efforts to ensure that adequate services were rendered to Ndwedwe residents,” said Hlomuka.

An Intelligence driven operation conducted with Provincial Detectives Organised Crime, Durban Flying Squad, Provincial Tracking Team and KSIA Task Team at Durban CBD for suspects operating at 'Pakistan Mafia' across Durban CBD and greater EThekwini Clusters, who were hijacking and seizing businesses, property, vehicles, cash belonging to other Pakistani businessmen. KDM to upgrade KwaDukuza People's Park

In a historical move to ensure the social upliftment of the people in KwaDukuza, Acting Mayor, Cllr Dolly Govender has unlocked the first phase into the reconstruction of the KwaDukuza Peoples Park (Theunissen Road Park) at an astounding amount of R12.5 million. The upgrades will include the construction of the new parking area, ablution facilities, an amphitheatre, paved walkways, children's play area, an outdoor gym, landscaping and irrigation, braai facilities, picnic tables and benches, park benches, refuse bins, perimeter fencing, lighting, bulk storm-water and

bulk earthworks. KwaDukuza Acting Mayor who is also the Portfolio Chairperson for Community Services & Public Amenities reiterated the commitment of council to the people through this project, “We have invested R12.5 million into the upgrades of this project. The Council, as part of its organizational work, prioritized the construction of a public facility for the purpose of leisure and tourism development. Vinesh Geanballey started the round of 16 when he defeated Julian Munsamy 21. Jodie Naidoo booked a quarter final place when he beat Dennis Govender 2-1, Naven Coopsamy accounted for Rowen Pillay 2-0, Bradley Majid defeated Jerry Arunachellum 2-1, Devan Govender beat Ajen Singh 21, Vasa Rungasamy defeated Kyle Pillay 2-1, Justin Naidoo defeated Jerry

Govender 2-0 and Mervin Pillay defeated Yogan Pillay 2-1. In the quarter finals, Vinesh disposed of Jodie 2-0, Bradley accounted for Naven 2-0, Devan secured a 2-0 victory over Vasa and Justin got a hard fought 2-1 victory over Mervin. In the first semi final, Geanballey secured a berth in the final with a 2-0 trouncing of Bradley Majid who himself has been throwing good darts recently whilst Devan Govender secured his place in the final by taking down Justin Naidoo 2-0 in the second semi's. In the final, club team mates, Geanballey and Govender put on a good

show scoring well throughout the match. Geanballey has been in a rich vein of form from the beginning of the 2019 season and that form has continued throughout has he secured a memorable 2-0 victory over Govender. Vinesh Geanballey and Kyle Pillay booked their place in the year end 180 Cup when they notched up the maximum three triple 20's. Tonight (Wednesday), KDDA will host the annual Jerry Govender & Family sponsored singles. The selected players from KDDA will be participating at the Nationals in Port Elizabeth and this is a tournament that gives the up and coming players a chance to shine.

How does one analyse the non-performance of a team that left the shores of this country with so much of Jayce Singh is a former optimism to lift the holy grail that had eluded them since re- sports administrator and Patron of the KZNCU entry in 1992. At least three of the players should not have been on the plane to the UK. Dale Steyn was injured and not fully fit. He had to return home without playing a game. Hashim Amla, one of South Africa's finest batsmen (his record states so) and JP Duminy were selected on sentimental grounds as a swansong to their illustrious career. One last hurrah to the World Cup before their impending retirement. But their mediocre returns have proved that they should have been left at home and some younger batsmen like Reesa Hendricks should have been picked. They would have been hungrier to impress without the baggage of previous failures. Furthermore, those who were expected to carry the burden for the team, Quinton de Kock, du Plessis, Aiden Markram and David Miller (batting), and Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi and Andile Phelukwayo (bowling) have failed to live up to their reputation. To perform in fits and starts will not enable a team to qualify for the knock-out rounds. Fielding has been another problem. Once the strong point of Proteas outfits, sloppy ground fielding, dropped catches, missed run outs have added to the woes of the team. Du Plessis must have been tearing his hair out in frustration at the mishaps on the field. Once they could save 20-30 runs on the field; recently they were gifting the same number to the opposition. Will they be able to turn the corner in the last two fixtures against Sri Lanka and Australia? Thus far they have only beaten Afghanistan, the 10th ranked team and this does not speak well of a country that went to the tournament as the number 2 ranked side. The team management has much to answer for to the South African public who were expecting much more than this pathetic performance. Heads will roll and CSA suits will have to begin preparation for the 2023 edition in India by getting rid of quite a few who are coming to the end of their careers. New and younger players must be introduced pronto so that they could be prepared over the next few years like Bangladesh and England to develop a mindset suitable for limited overs cricket as well as sub-continent conditions. A paradigm shift is necessary as a matter of urgency! Quo vadis, CSA?

At the start of the season, 3 teams, namely Darnall, Bethel and Shakas started as favourites but after this round of fixtures, Darnall seem to be the sole favourites.
