he annual King Shaka Day heritage celebrations went ahead at the Recreation Grounds on Saturday, 21 September 2013 at 10:30am. The arrival of His Majesty the King of the Zulu Nation: King Goodwill Zwelithini ka Bhekuzulu heralded the start of the unique to KwaDukuza celebrations that saw many dignitaries, foreign diplomats, government officials and the Zulu nation in attendance. King Goodwill Zwelithini launched an attack on the behaviour of some of the attendees of event addressing thousands of people who gathered in KwaDukuza for the 2013 King Shaka Commemoration Day event, the King said these gatherings were too important to be looked down upon. “If you are privileged enough to attend, don't behave like a drunkard in a bar. These events have a deeper meaning for us Zulus, they are not just ceremonies,” he said. The King also said it was disturbing that some people use these events 'as a way to introduce alcohol to our children.' “I will not let this happen to my children. When you bring your children to me they become my children as well. No good has ever come from a child drinking alcohol. What I'm saying is important to anyone with a Zulu spirit in them.” (speaking in Zulu). The King also spoke out about the accident between Nkwalini and Melmoth on the Sunday of the Reed Dance where nine maidens were killed. He urged event organisers to take care when organising such events especially transportation of the people. Continued on page 4 750ml Johnny Walker Black Label Whisky

Heart Awareness Month takes place in September every year, and is an entire month dedicated to creating awareness around the risks and prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in South Africa. Together with the World Heart Federation and the Heart and Stroke Foundation SA, the aim is to spread the news that at least 80% of premature (under the age of 60 years) deaths from heart disease and stroke could be avoided if the main risk factors, tobacco, unhealthy diet and physical inactivity, are controlled. Frightening facts • A healthy heart beats 13 million times in one year. • Every day 130 people die of a heart attack in South Africa. • In South Africa, 6,3 million people are living with high blood pressure. • More than half of women who suffer a heart attack are under the

You can help prevent heart disease by making healthy choices and managing any medical conditions you may have. As you begin your journey to better heart health, keep these things in mind: • Eat a healthy diet. Choosing healthful meal and snack options can help you avoid heart disease and its complications. Be sure to eat plenty of fresh fruits and
vegetables adults should have at least 5 servings each day. Eating foods low in saturated fat, trans fat, and cholesterol and high in fiber can help prevent high cholesterol. • Maintain a healthy weight. Being overweight or obese can increase your risk for heart disease. • Exercise regularly. Physical activity can help you maintain a healthy weight and lower cholesterol and blood pressure. The Surgeon General recommends that adults should engage in moderate-intensity exercise for at least 30 minutes on most days of the week. • Monitor your blood pressure. High blood pressure often has no symptoms, so be sure to have it checked on a regular basis. • Don't smoke. Cigarette
smoking greatly increases your risk for heart disease. If you don't smoke, don't start. If you do smoke, quit as soon as possible. Jewellery Manufactured, Remodelled • Limit alcohol use. Men should stick to no more than two drinks per day, and women to no more than one. • Have your cholesterol checked. • Take your medicine. Continued from page 1 “These buses must be inspected thoroughly. The transport for my warriors, my maidens and their guardians should be inspected. Even the drivers as well must be tested,” he said. The King also said: “This is not a ground. It's part of KwaDukuza royal household. Even though there is a municipality called KwaDukuza when we come here, we come to the iLembe's royal household and we must behave as such.” Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi MP (Inkosi of the Buthelezi Clan and Traditional Prime Minister to the Zulu Monarch and Nation) spoke about the identity of the Zulu nation. “It is fitting His Majesty calls us together to remember King Shaka, for in so doing we remember who we are and where we come from,” said the Prince. He also reminded all present about what King Shaka achieved and his mark on history. “King Shaka ka Senzangakhona was a fearless warrior. History remembers him as a brilliant military strategist and a social engineer who, through diplomacy and conquest, united into one nation a fractured and discordant people. He was single-minded to the point of cruelty, and intolerant of weakness. Yet his was somehow the very leadership needed at that point in our history,” said Buthelezi.

that is linked to an investigation that is ongoing. The Cluster Commander explained that his approach to drug investigation is much more complex than “your normal station approach.” The Xpress Times asked the Brigadier to respond to rumours about one of his officer's allegedly stealing Albertina Ngubane's docket. He rubbished this and said: “Albertina is still appearing for the case with which we charged her. Her case is remanded to October 2013.” The Cluster Commander managed to get Suresh “Moonchu” Gayapersad (Operation Take Down 2012 first busted drug dealer) convicted at the KwaDukuza Magistrates Court last week.

The KwaDukuza Cluster has taken down yet another suspected drug dealer as part of its 'Operation Take Down: Second Wave' on Heritage Saturday, 21 September 2013. According to the Cluster Commander, Brigadier Derek Captain-Hastibeer, his team of Cluster officers, the LCRC and the National Intervention Unit (NIU) who did the full breach, raided a female for possession of mandrax tablets. “Thembekile Gloria Ngubane (41), allegedly the daughter of Albertina Ngubane who was busted for dealing last year and that case is before court as well, was busted at 52 Russell Street,” said Brigadier Derek CaptainHastibeer. He added that items were also recovered at the scene

Sick and tyred Residents of Murugan Road are quiet tired of the petty thieving taking place daily in their area. Last week, Sathiyadev Hurripursadh returned home to be informed by the housekeeper that a tyre and rim was stolen during his absence. He alerted his neighbours and the local residents and within a short space of time they apprehended Sabelo Mkhwanazi (24) and Junior Dunn (18). The tyre was returned to him and both culprits were granted bail and ordered to appear again on 1 November.
Mans' quest for the so-called “finer things in life” has seen him lose his sense of values and morals. In the latest example of such behaviour a local youth was arrested on Friday evening for drunken driving. Police allege that they were following a red Golf which was zigzagging across the road. They brought the vehicle to a stop and confirmed their suspicions when examining the driver and found him to be intoxicated. Shiraaz Sheik (28), a storeman at a company currently on strike was released on bail of R3000 and is due back at court on 14 January 2014.
Across the divide Whoonga usage is not reserved for any specific race groups and is making its mark across all race barriers. Last week, police patrolling the infamous taxi rank vicinity spotted a youth acting suspiciously. On confronting him they searched him and found 3 straws of whoonga in his possession. Robert Dennis Boyle (26) who lives in King Shaka Street became the first white person to be charged for whoonga. He was granted bail and is due back at court on 18 December 2013.
Dear brother In a strange twist of events, a man has arrested his blood brother for a serious attack on another person. Police were called out to a scene of a crime at the Groutville area. Andile Nxele reported to police that he had locked his brother up in a secured room for stabbing Msawakhe Ngiba. The family rushed the badly injured Ngiba to hospital with several stab wounds to the head. Police placed Bongani Simon Nxele (43) under arrest and visited the victim in hospital. Due to the nature of his injuries the victim was unable to speak and his condition is still unknown.
Values and morals
Learners on rape charge Two local learners aged 12 and 14 years appeared in court on a charge of rape. According to the mother of the 8-year-old victim, she was attending a funeral in another area. She left the child in the custody of her son. On her return she received a report that her child had been sexually assaulted. Upon interviewing the child she established that the neighbour's son and her own son had abused the child. Both boys are due back at court this week. Jacked up When police patrolling the rank area spotted a youth selling a trolley-jack to mechanics in the vicinity, they became worried. They approached the youth and on questioning him he replied indicating that the jack belonged to his sister. Police requested he show them where his sister is to verify his version and he changed his story. He then told police that he had stolen the jack out of a bakkie at Stanger Manor. Patrick Biyela (19) was charged for being in possession of stolen property and is due back at court on 21 October. A childish adult Zwakele Majola alleges that her son was severely assaulted by her neighbor. She confronted the culprit and she explained that she did so
September 27, 2013
because her two-year-old son was fighting with her child. The culprit became aggressive and attacked Majola by striking her on her head with a stone. Majola and her child were treated at Stanger Hospital for their injuries and Mandisa Zulu (21) was arrested. Zulu is due back at court on 18 October. Beserk woman Mbali Njapha alleges that she was chatting to a friend in the New Guelderland area last Sunday. She alleges they were approached by Balungile Mpofana (22) who requested to speak to her. Before saying anything Njapha alleges that Mpofana struck her viciously on her head and she fled. However, the determined Mpofana chased her and despite her best efforts to escape the raging Mpofana, she was again assaulted. The police were contacted and Mpofana was charged with assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. She appeared in court in Tuesday and is due back in court on 25 October. Fair deal Senzo Ndlovu (28) of Shakaville can lay claim to have been given deal for dealing dagga. Ndlovu admitted to court that he was found in possession of 100 slopes of dagga and that he is a dealer. For his honesty, he was given a sentence of R5000 or 6 months imprisonment of which R2000 or 2 months imprisonment was suspended for 5 years.

By Xpress Reporter The KwaDukuza Municipality (KDM) Crime Prevention Unit conducted various 'stop and search' operations last week; · 20 September 2013: While patrolling the Shakaville area, members stopped a taxi and found 31 cartons of “GT” counterfeit cigarettes hidden inside. The Mozambican driver was arrested. · 18 September 2013: Members arrested a suspect in the Nkobongo area for being in possession of 396 straws of whoonga. · 17 September 2013: Superintendant Arumugam; Assistant Superintendant, S Pillay; Traffic Officers Mbonambi and Khan together with the Director of N-Force
Security received information regarding an alleged drug dealer i n N e w Guelderland. The operation took place around midnight and a Swaziland national was arrested for being in possession of 1.6kg of compressed dagga which has a street value of approximately R22 000. · 10 September 2013: A Sunny Park resident (39) was arrested for being in possession of 13 straws of whoonga. It is alleged that the dealer sold drugs to school kids. A 23-year old male was also arrested in the same vicinity for being in possession of dagga. On the same day, members received information from the community of Mdoniville (Indian Village) regarding an alleged drug dealer in the area. A 38-year-old male was arrested for being in possession of dagga.

Councillor Dolly Shandu welcomed the guests to the district. “I would like to congratulate iLembe for being chosen as the hosts for these important celebrations. I would also like to emphasise the fact that education is a priority for this government of ours. It was not a priority for the apartheid government, otherwise they wouldn't have had policies such as Bantu Education in place,” she said. Before the main event at the stadium, the dignitaries visited Imbewenhle Primary School also in Mandeni to hand over corner library i.e. a mobile library to the school. The libraries look like a conventional cupboard on the outside but inside they have books in IsiZulu and English, a TV set, DVD's and three laptops. “Imbewenhle is one of three schools that the KZN Legislature donated the libraries to. At the legislature we believe in lifelong learning as such we are also furthering our studies. Reading is important and information is hidden in books,” said Madame Speaker of the KZN Legislature, Mrs Peggy Nkonyeni. This event also acted as the launch of the Right to Read campaign by the Department of Education. Learners from Sizani Primary School in Umhlali, helped launch the campaign by reciting what their right to read means to them. 45 iLembe District Municipality employees that are receiving Adult Education and Training through the municipality also attended the Literacy Day celebrations.

Manor educator receives award
Mr S Gannie was named the Best educator in the iLembe District in Afrikaans
By Xpress Reporter
The iLembe District Municipality presented the award for the Best educator in the iLembe District in Afrikaans to Stanger Manor Secondary educator, Mr Shiraz Gannie. Mr Gannie is a senior Afrikaans educator in Stanger Manor Secondary School and has produced 100% pass rate in the 2012 Matric exams (Afrikaans). He also produced the learner with the highest mark in iLembe as well as the highest number of distinctions in iLembe for Afrikaans.
In 1980, under the guidance of Mr Du Plessis of the University of Kwazulu-Natal, Mr Gannie acquired skills in teaching Afrikaans to nonmother tongue learners. He has been tutoring Grade 12 learners for the past 34 years. When asked him to provide some advice to learners with regard to studying for their Afrikaans exam and he said: “Revise your literature daily as this will empower you to extend your vocabulary and sentence construction. This does not have to be a long session.”
Youth League leaders, no dissension at all By Xpress Reporter
coming weekend, there has been much speculation that some of it's A s t h e A f r i c a n N a t i o n a l leaders are at loggerheads with Congress Youth League (ANCYL) each other since the branches have in the Greater KwaDukuza Region n o m i n a t e d t h e m . C a d r e s will be going for it's Congress this Siphesihle Zulu and Lucky Makhathini have both been nominated for position of Secretary. According to Siphesihle Zulu who is currently the Youth League Secretary, there is really no beef between him and his deputy Lucky. He said that they've always done their secretariat work jointly and peacefully. “We understand that the ANC is a democratic organisation where everyone is allowed to vote for whomever they want to vote for and as leaders we will not let this divide us. We are used to this LIBERAL: Lucky Makhathini (left) and next environment of people to him is Siphesihle Zulu (ANCYL nominating more than one Secretary)
person for the same position. Those are the views of the branches and have nothing to do with us. Our objective is that of helping the ANC achieve its 70% majority of votes in the next year's elections,” said Zulu. He added that they will continue to mobilize young people to vote for the ANC and that Cadre Lucky and himself will continue to work in their usual manner even after the Congress. When approached for a comment, Lucky Makhathini who is currently the ANCYL Deputy Secretary, said that he was glad that they will be able to clear the air because a lot of people have been misled into thinking that he and Zulu were no longer even on speaking terms. He also said that he's very happy that their region is the first one to go to the Congress as they've reached the 70% threshold that was required.

ILEMBE INTER MUNICIPAL GAMES 2013 Each year the South African Local Government Association-KZN SALGA KZN, formerly known as KWANALOGA, stages a spectacular tournament in a particular district to showcase talent, sportsmanship and administration of sport in the Local Government sector. The event begins as a ward based competition which culminates to the Inter-Municipal Games, where local municipalities come together to battle it out; in the selection tourney. From there, the selected individuals form part of 'Team iLembe' which goes to compete with other districts at a Provincial level, which is a thrilling effect for young boys and girls, who battle in the field of play for the pride of honour. During the year, 2013 the games marked the 14th year since the KWANALOGA Games concept came to fruition in the province of KwaZulu Natal.
HIS WORSHIP THE MAYOR, COUNCILLOR SW MDABE WOULD LIKE TO INVITE MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC TO JOIN THE ILEMBE FAMILY OF MUNICIPALITIES TO THE ILEMBE INTER-MUNICIPAL GAMES WILL TAKE PLACE AS FOLLOWS:
Date: Saturday, 05 October 2013 Time: 08h00 to 20h00 Host Municipality: KwaDukuza Municipality
Due to the fact that the concept has been emulated by other provinces, the KZN has since been on the sportlight and under pressure to raise the bar each year. The concept started out as a mere vehicle for socialisation amongst the municipalities; but has since evolved into a fullyfledged sport development programme in the wake of huge budgets that are involved in these games.

I used MAGIC RING to pay my debts : the sheriffs department debt collectors have been harassing me for 3 years due to debts that have been lingering with me, other events happened including cutting off my electricity (power). Telephone line and water supply. I was blacklisted. I can’t get loan anywhere. This was putting a strain on my family especially my son who was an alcoholic & not employed which led him taking drugs. I was so stressed and my life was down, but one day I heard about Prof Yisa and Mama Koshay on radio. I took his number and decided to contact him. We set an appointment and I could not believe they showed me my enemies in a white pot. They prayed for me and also gave me a casino magic ring, every machine I played I won a jackpot. Secondly few days after seeing Prof. Yisa I was promoted at work now we are living a beautiful life with my family. I thank prof. Yisa and Mama Koshay.

With Samuli Powder TRUE STORY
SPECIAL PRAYERS & SPIRITUAL WATERS FOR LUCK & MONEY SPELLS
Vanessa (40) - Musgrave. We would like to inform the world that it really works as we won the money in Suncoast casino using Mama Madina’s Samuli powder . We first heard about Mama Madina last year but we couldn’t believe it first until last month when our aunt went to her and her life changed after she won a lot of jack pots at suncoast casino. My husband and I were very deep in debts our house was almost going away by the banks our cars were already repossessed, so we decided to try Mama Madina’s Samuli powder we booked an appointment and went to her. She charged us and read out our fortune, we were so surprised when she told us every thing, she even touched the days we met and the reason why we were failing in life. She prayed for us and gave us the samuli powder to use. We began by playing the machines and later went to the tables. Everyone was looking at us. We were winning, we won a lot in the casino. Now that we have money our lives have changed. We paid of our debts bought a new house and now we opening new businesses. We testify out of our faith that Mama Madina has served us all in our family, she is God sent. We regard her as our family mother. Our children are back to good schools. If you are in the same situation don't waste time and money on others just go to Mama Madina she will change your life.

Essence of Life Let’s get physical Lots of us are pretty great at coming up with reasons NOT to exerciseI'm too tired after work; it's too hot out; it's too cold out; all of my workout clothes perished in a tragic laundry “accident.” As for coming up for reasons to get moving? We've got that covered. The past few weeks have been chock-full of new studies and data extolling some pretty convincing new-found benefits of exercise. You might want to start lacing up as you read, and don't even try to tell us that your dog ate your sneakers. We're on to you. 1. Exercise Helps Reverse Aging A recent study found that positive lifestyle changes like good diet and exercise habits can reverse the aging deep in our cells. It has to do with telomere length, the protective caps made of DNA and protein at the end of chromosomes that help protect a cell from aging. Telomeres become shorter and weaker over time, leading cells to age and die, and leaving you at increased risk for some cancers, osteoporosis, diabetes, and more. But the study found that a healthy diet and moderate exercise (walking 30 minutes a day, six days a week) lengthened one's telomere length by 10 percent after five years. Telomere length was three percent shorter after five years in the study group that didn't make those lifestyle changes. 2. Exercise Can Lessen Depression Symptoms There's been a lot of research over the years on the link between exercise and depression, and a new review of studies published in the Cochrane Library looks promising. Exercise causes your pituitary gland to release endorphins to help ease your physical stress and pain while you work outbut those endorphins may have more long-term results too. A team that examined 39 past studies on depression and exercise (they included a total of 2 326 people with depression), found that exercise did indeed moderately benefit symptoms of depression. 3. Some Workouts Help You Eat Less
A study published in The International Journal of Obesity recently looked at the effect of exercise on appetite, asking volunteers to participate in a series of increasingly strenuous workouts over a few days. In addition to a standard liquid breakfast, researchers also presented volunteers with porridge after the workout (the bland food was chosen specifically to test for appetite without factors like an enticing aroma or visual getting in the way). They found that when volunteers rested or had a moderate workout, they loaded up on the porridgebut when they did interval workouts they consumed significantly less. They also had lower levels of ghrelin (a hormone that's known to stimulate appetite) and higher levels of blood lactate and blood sugar (which both lessen the drive to eat) after the most strenuous interval workout. 4. You Get the Benefits Regardless of Your Weight If you're struggling with eating habits and your weight, it can feel pretty overwhelming to start worrying about exercise too… not to mention sort of futile. After all, if you're carrying an extra 34 kgs, what good will a morning jog do? Plenty, it turns out! At the recent 20th International Congress of Nutrition in Granada, researchers shared that even if you're overweight or obese, being moderately fitthe researchers cite as little as three 10minute walks five days a weekreduces your risk for cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, and respiratory disorders.

Kenya forces mount assault to end mall siege (Aljazeera) - Armed men belonging to the Somali group al-Shabab had stormed the Westgate shopping centre on Saturday using grenades and assault rifles. Heavy and sustained gunfire has been heard from the Nairobi mall where Somali group al-Shabab are holed up, holding an unknown number of civilians hostage. Two al-Shabab fighters have been killed in the ongoing military raid to end the standoff and nearly all hostages have been freed, Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for the Interior Ole Lenku said on Monday. Using Google Glass to make movies (Scientific American) - Consider Google Glass. It almost insists we consider the wearer as something from some imagined sci-fi future, and this the role Boonsri plays. She is futuristic and somewhat alien, and has had a “crash” of her Google Glass, which, at least in this story, stores not only memories in the form of video, photos, and other recordings, but her emotions as well. “I think this is the future of filmmaking. Mobile technology has allowed us to make movies on our phones and even film it with a first person perspective with Google Glass. Many years back before I meet this powerful spiritual Maam Rashim, there was no happiness in my life because my husband cheated on me. In fact he later separated from me too & left the Sandile & his wife kids with me to suffer, I visited priests, gurus & healers for help. (4 days after prayers) Money was wasted without any results. Luckily I saw testimonials on a local TV station about another man whose son Maam Rashim had saved from drugs & alcohol abuse. I paid R200 for consultation. He accurately read my fortune & told me all my problems without me mentioning a word. He even used a mirror to show me real-faces of people who were trying to pull me down. Maam Rashim performed a special prayer for me, cleansed me from bad-luck and also gave me powerful love-crystals plus a special ring (to fix my financial problems) Four (4) days after prayers my husband was back home asking for forgiveness. Am happy we are in love again after 5 years. Like me all my friends I have been referring to him also got guaranteed results in few days. Contact Maam Rashim

KZN Coastal hope to triumph 2013 Vodacom Wheelchair Basketball Nationals Challenge After last year's improved performance in all competitions, the KZN Coastal team is aiming for gold at this year's Vodacom Wheelchair Basketball Nationals Challenge tournament to be held at the Victoria Mxenge Sports Centre, in Umlazi township from the 20th till 24th September 2013. Speaking ahead of their first encounter against Eastern Cape Province, KZN Coastal Senior player, Siphamandla Gumbi was confident that his team will do better than last year's performance in this year's third-leg of the Vo d a c o m W h e e l c h a i r Basketball Nationals Challenge to be held in his home town. Siphamandla Gumbi has been a champion in ensuring that KZN Province invests in the development of young players. “Most of our Senior National players retired after the 2008 Beijing Paralympics. When that happened it was really hard to get the team together but I persevered. Playing with young stars is such a great feeling because they are hungry for opportunities, Gumbi explained. “KZN Coastal is a fairly young team with lot of inexperienced players, but they are eager to showcase their skills. For them playing against some of the top international players in Wheelchair Basketball has been a dream come true. The KZN Coastal team was a surprise package in last y e a r ' s Vo d a c o m Wheelchair Basketball Nationals Challenge. They beat four provinces before advancing to the finals, where they lost with dignity to three time Champions, Gauteng North. The KZN Coastal trio of Thabane Shange, Zinande Chonco and
Xolane Shabane who were part of the South Africa U/23 team that played in the IWBF World Cup in Turkey from September 1 - 15, 2013 will put their international experience to good use when they try to win this year's title. Vo d a c o m M a n a g i n g Executive: Marketing, Mzamo Masito said, "The Vodacom Nationals has been a platform to unearth talent for the past 14 years. This tournament dubbed the “Tournament of dreams has fulfilled the dreams of many upcoming wheelchair basketball players.• “This year, our young stars put South Africa on the map when competing in the IWBF World Cup in Turkey earlier this month. What fulfils us as the tournament's primary sponsors is that most of the players who play for both Senior and Under 23 teams were discovered in this c o m p e t i t i o n , Vo d a c o m Wheelchair Basketball Nationals Challenge. “Provincial Wheelchair Basketball teams participate in this competition every year, and the winner and runners-up get a chance to play in the Vo d a c o m W h e e l c h a i r Basketball Challenge Finals to be held at The Vodacom Mandeville Indoor Centre in Johannesburg.• In this year's tournament the following eight teams will spearhead the challenge: KZN Coastal and KZN Midlands, Eastern Cape Province, North West , Gauteng North, Gauteng Central, Gauteng South and Free State Province.

Phenomenal response to schools cricket camp

Speaking ahead of the 3day clinic, Mhlongo said: "Our children are exposed to hard ball cricket very late, some playing only when they enter 11 years, but in Australia, children as young as six years old are exposed to hard ball cricket and thus they have an automatic edge over our children". "Furthermore, there is fear for hard ball cricket especially in the local primary schools and thus the grade seven learners (under13 age group) seem to

Moyes vents at Utd players
Sergio Aguero, the man that had United stranded
Manchester United manager David Moyes said he upbraided his players after their crushing 4-1 derby defeat at Manchester City and called for an immediate improvement in their
performances. The Scot had a torrid experience in his first Manchester derby, as a Sergio Aguero brace and goals from Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri gave City a victory reminiscent of
their seismic 6-1 win at Old Trafford in 2011. It was United's second defeat of the season, leaving them five points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal in eighth place, and Moyes admitted that he had vented his spleen at the final whistle. Asked if he expected a reaction in the changing room, on the training ground or in the next match, Moyes replied: "All of them, and I've made them aware of that as well. "But I think if there was
ever a group of players who I would expect that from, it would be from Manchester United players. "The way they're been brought up, the previous manager (Alex Ferguson). They react, and that's what we'll do here. Every manager has bad days and bad results, and I'm no different." Moyes enjoyed a fine record at the Etihad Stadium with former club Everton, winning on four of his last six visits, and he appeared slightly baffled by the poor quality of his new side's display. "I've been here with Everton many times and I don't think I've ever suffered a defeat like that when I've been here with Everton," he said. "I just told the players the way I would have told any other players if I don't think they're doing it. They're good players here, good pros, and they know when they're bang at it and when they're not." The defeat followed a 1-0 loss at Liverpool and a 0-0 draw with Chelsea, and having complained about United's daunting start ahead of the season, Moyes hopes things will improve as the campaign progresses. "We want to win more of those games, we have to do that," he said. "But maybe if those games are late in the season and not right at the early part of it, then I might have a better understanding of all the players, the situation at the club. "I think any manager who'd have been given that run of fixtures when they took over at this club
would have found it difficult." City manager Manuel Pellegrini will have far happier memories of his first Manchester derby, having seen his side climb to third place in the table with a brilliantly assured performance. Asked if City had struck a big psychological blow against their cross-town rivals, he replied: "Very big. Always, winning against Manchester United and the way we win, is always an important impact." He said the nature of his side's performance, in which man-of-thematch Nasri played a part in all four goals, would also help him to introduce a more expansive style of play than that of his predecessor, Roberto Mancini. "I would be very happy if we win all the games 4-1. We wouldn't need to improve anything more," he said. "I think we are just starting another style, another way to play, and I hope we will improve every day." Although Robin van Persie missed out for United with a groin strain, Moyes said the injury was "not that bad", suggesting the Dutchman could feature against Liverpool in the League Cup on Wednesday. The Scot also sought solace in the performance of Wayne Rooney, who scored with a fine late free-kick to become the outright leading scorer in the history of the Manchester derby with 11 goals. "Obviously we miss Robin van Persie, it's a huge miss to anybody," Moyes said. "But I thought Wayne Rooney could have arguably been the best player on the pitch today (Sunday). He certainly Shop 1B Ushaka Mall Haysom Road • Tel: 032 551 4974 didn't deserve to play 69B King Shaka Street Tel: 032 551 2214 on the losing team, that Fax: 032 552 5785 was for sure. Buccaneers make South African proud The Xpress Times will feature your favourite local Premier League Soccer (PSL) and Barclays Premier League (BPL) or English football teams for you to cut out paste. This week we honour Orlando Pirates. We lead, others follow...
Al Ahly want Pirates final
After failing to beat Orlando Pirates on two occasions, Al Ahly head
coach, Mohamed Youssef, revealed his desire to face the Buccaneers for a third
time - in the 2013 CAF Champions League final. Pirates collected four
points against the seventime champions, but finished the group as
runners-up which will see them lock horns in the semifinals against Tunisian
giants, Esperance. “There is a big possibility that we can meet again in the final with all the four teams left (as) it is,” Youssef told the Kick-Off website. Youssef, 42, also wished the Happy People luck for their MTN8 semi-final second leg clash against perennial rivals, Kaizer Chiefs, on Tuesday. He said he cherished squaring up against his contemporary at Pirates, Roger de Sa. “At the end we just want to thank coach Roger and wish him the best against their match against Kaizer Chiefs. The Buccaneers will host Esperance in the CAF Champions League first leg at Orlando Stadium next week, but prior to that they have to finish what they started locally, playing the second leg of the R8m competition. They have the upper hand heading into this match, after winning the first leg 10, courtesy of a superb freekick by Daine Klate. Kick-off is at 15:00.
