waDukuza Municipality on Friday, 23 August 2019, entered into a historic social contract with the people of Nkobongo in Ward 08, in its intent to build a public taxi rank for the local public transport industry and its people. The council has committed an amount of R10.4 million towards the development of the facility.
Chairperson of the portfolio committee on Infrastructure, Mr. Thulani Ntuli said there will be no more delays as the contractor was set to be on site on Monday, 26 August. “By Monday next week, the contractor will be on site and we have instructed him to source local skilled labour for this project because we understand that most of our people here are unemployed and this project will provide relief
to some families.” Occasioned by a huge demand of transport facilitation in an area, the council made a point to engage the local people about the project to ensure the upliftment of the community. “This will also contribute to the social upliftment of our people as jobs will be created and more lives will be improved” said Ntuli.

IFP held its elective conference this past weekend at Ulundi where Buthelezi stated that he's proud of the legacy he has built over the years. He further urged party members to unconditionally support the newly elected leader Velenkosini Hlabisa. “My time as the president of the IFP is finished. I am
handing the baton to a new leader. We have moved carefully and deliberately to this point, making public our decisions and the reasons for taking them. This moment was planned a long time ago. ILembe curbs water crisis in Ndwedwe By Xpress Reporter
Over R30 million will be spent on renovating the Ndwedwe South System Refurbishment in the 2019/2020 financial year, a water project that will see residents of wards 9, 10, 11,12,13,16 & 19 in Ndwedwe Local Municipality receiving reliable water supply. The project was introduced to the communities last Friday, 23 August 2019 at a public meeting on the Sonkombo Sports Field in
Sonkombo, Ndwedwe. The project will see to the replacement and upgrading of old water mains and associated water infrastructure in the areas of Nkwambase and Sonkombo Water Supply Schemes. Approximately 16 696 residents from 2 783 households in wards 10 and 11 will benefit as well as communities in wards 9, 12, 13, 16 and 19. Addressing the public meeting, His Worship the Mayor Cllr Siduduzo Gumede said the project
was meant to be launched in 2018 but wasn't as a result of challenges, “A contractor was already appointed but we received objections regarding the appointment of the tender. It took us six months to start the process again. All of this is scheduled to be completed in a year and the contractor has indicated that 15 job opportunities will be created at the beginning of the project and that the number will increase to 40 as work continues,” said Gumede.
The project which consists of two Gumede revealed that the main schemes i.e. the Nkwambase and contractor for the project is Sonkombo schemes. IDM fortifies relationship with Amakhosi
The iLembe District Municipality in partnership with the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs hosted a meeting to strengthen working relations between Amakhosi within iLembe and iLembe Family of Municipalities i.e. ILembe District Municipality, KwaDukuza, Mandeni, Maphumulo and Ndwedwe local municipalities last Tuesday, 20 August 2019.

Sinusitis is the inflammation of the sinus cavities, which are small air-filled spaces behind the cheekbones and forehead. Symptoms experienced are:
Pain often described as a dull ache/discomfort around the sinuses; “stuffiness” in the nose, which can also be felt in and around the eyes and cheeks; an increase in mucous production; headaches; neck pain. Chest infections can be caused by a build-up of phlegm in the lungs. Physiotherapy

Gueldies Reunion a success
The 10th August 2019 marked the Gueldies Reunion a day to remember. Almost a thousand people including ex residents of New Guelderland Sugar Estate attended the awesome function. NGLSE celebrated 132 years of existence until 2014. The day's events included old time drama and skits, the traditional sarie queen contest, old folks dancing and four bands Ecclesia MQIA, Apple-Tiza, Diminos and Ravi n Frenz. Two mums in their 90's cut the cake. The theme 'sugar cane green'
added colour to the surroundings. The management team Rajen Pillay, Dennis Annapen, Misra Nagessar, Daniel Pillay, Russel Pillay, Denny Govender, Dennis Naidoo, Marlene Soobramoney, Bram Thotha, Johnny Pillay and Paul Pillay assisted by Team Richards Bay under the leadership of Selva Pillay were commended by the greater public for a job well done. The team would like to place on record their sincere thanks to everyone who made the event a great success.

Great Destiny Pre School officially opens
Great Destiny Pre School and Child Care held a grand official opening ceremony in KwaDukuza on Saturday. Four men arrested for murder Four men were arrested last night at Nyoni on the north coast. The suspects aged between 21 and 24 are expected to appear in the Nyoni Magistrates Court soon. BEYOND THE TOUCHLINE International cricket is in full swing after the brief hiatus after the World Cup. This will conclude with a final being played at Lord's in 2021 after each country has played one another in a series. Cool Leaders unlucky
Cool Leaders were rather unfortunate at the commencement of round 2 of the K w a D u k u z a Vo l l e y b a l l Association league last Thursday played at the Stanger High Grounds. As it has become customary with Cool Leaders whose diesel engines take a long time to heat for take-off, their display in the opening set secured that notion against Bethel CC who have one eye on their title chances, hoping for a slip up by the front runners Darnall. Cool Leaders were if sixes and sevens in the first set with Bethel showing no mercy hammering Cool Leaders to a convincing 25-14 victory. The story book changed at the end of the first set and start of the second set as Cool Leaders showed why
they are known as the never-saydie team when they matched Bethel through out to narrowly claim the second set 25-23 to level matters. The final set was just the same as the courts were set alight by these two teams with the lead changing hands all the time. At 15-15, then 16-16and 17-17, the game could have gone either way. However, Bethel seemed to have that extra bit as they held on for a 19-17 victory. Meanwhile favourites Darnall United continued were they left off after the Ralph Reuben Memorial finals a fortnight ago, hammering the lack-lustre Manor Old Boys 25-16, 25-14. Shakas Sporting also got their act together beating Glenhills 2516, 25-12 whilst Sunbrook seem to

Manor to host AGM Manor Cricket Club will be hosting its Annual General Meeting on Saturday, 31 August at 6 pm at Shakaland Technical College. Manor Cricket Club welcomes the return of their very own former Dolphins player, Saidi Mhlongo. He will lead the T20 A side, together with some of his academy cricketers from Sailors Academy.
