By Xpress Reporter The 2013 iteration of the District Municipality's “16 Days of Activism against the Abuse of Women and Children” kicked off on Monday at the iLembe Auditorium. A delegation including the Mayor of the iLembe District Municipality (IDM), Councillor SW Mdabe; the Mayor of the KwaDukuza Municipality, Councillor NR Mthembu; MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture and Recreation Ms Ntombikayise Sabhidla-Saphetha and KwaZulu-Natal Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) Head of Department Ms Nonhlanhla Qoboshiyane visited to two rape survivor's homes in New Guelderland and Madundube respectively, both in KwaDukuza, to handover groceries and show support. The delegation together with councillors from iLembe and government department officials visited the home of a 29-year-old Indian “physically challenged” young woman who was repeatedly
raped by a 40-year-old male relative and impregnated her. “Whenever I went out, he would come in and rape her. She started complaining about stomach aches and we took her to the doctor and we were told she was seven months pregnant,” said the rape survivor's mother Puplie Ranburn. Mayor Mdabe said submissions to the National Prosecuting Authority would have to made for the case to be reopened. He said as government they were not happy with the manner in which the case was handled. “We are sickened by this. This person made a plea bargain and he and his lawyer took advantage of an indigent family. He said he would pay R1000 a month for maintenance and hasn't paid a cent. We can't allow for this to happen. We must make noise and do everything in out power. We can not be silent,” he said. In Madundube, the delegate visited Gogo who was recently raped and a suspect was apprehended. The rape survivor managed to identify the suspect by remembering his voice

and he was arrested the same day the rape occurred. “I urge you to visit her. When you wake up in the morning come and see how she is and how she slept. Late at night before you go to sleep just pass by her house and she if she is fine. I am also asking you to do this with other older citizens in the area who may or may not live alone,” said the MEC. She also asked residents to work with authorities in making the area safer. The visits were followed by an official launch with older citizens that participated in this year's Golden Games. At the main event, the MEC, Deputy Mayor of iLembe, Councillor Dolly Shandu and the KDM Mayor Mthembu handed over cheques to three non-governmental organizations. “The money that is being handed over here was made from selling these white ribbons. It's not a lot but it will definitely add value to the lives of some of our people,” said Councillor Mthembu.

decreased since the arrests made at the market plaza. “Before the arrest, business robberies were very prevalent. However, since the arrest, business robberies have come to a hault,” he said.
Business owner held at gunpoint By Xpress Reporter SAPS KwaDukuza members arrested two black males aged between 26 and 45 years for a business robbery that was reported in progress at Market Health Care, Market Plaza in the KwaDukuza CBD on Tuesday, 19 November 2013. It is alleged that the pharmacy had just resumed business when five black males entered, posed as customers and afterwards allegedly held the owner at gunpoint demanding cash, while other suspects took items
off the shelves. According to the SAPS Communications Officer, Constable Sibusiso Khumalo, the shopping complex security guards apprehended one of the suspects and the other was apprehended by 'visible policing' (Vispol) members who were at a close proximity of the scene. “The suspects were found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm 'Criffon' pistol and eight live ammunition, store items and cash that was taken during
the robbery,” said Khumalo. He added that the duo will appear at the KwaDukuza Magistrates Court facing charges of Business Robbery with aggravating circumstances and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Lieutenant-Colonel RD Mathura commended the teamwork and support given by the market plaza security as well as the community. He also urged business owners to take extra precaution during the festive season.
“Criminals pretend to be customers and businesses should have a security guard at the door to screen customers. Owners also need to be cautious and responsible especially during opening and closing times,” said Mathura. He added that the UPHOLD THE LAW: From left: Lieutenant number of business Colonel RD Mathura and Constable robberies have Sbusiso Khumalo

Bemused Security guards of N-Force could hardly believe their eyes. Lonwabo Nondu and Ncebo Khuzwayo were patrolling the New Guelderland area on foot guarding machinery. They spotted a man carrying a 25 litre plastic container siphoning diesel from one of the machines. As they approached him he began to run with the container which was full. The guards could hardly believe that the man was so desperate to hold on to his cargo which slowed him down and led to his arrest. Police arrived and it was learnt that he had stolen at least 100 litres which he sold to a local resident. Lusanda Mxabo (24) who works for Esorfranki Pipelines is due back at court on 27 January 2014.
an alarm at 2:30am received a cold reception. The roof of Navi's Discount Furniture was forced open and the two culprits removed two Hisense Bar fridges. The officers apprehended two Mozambicans and handed them over to the police. Sam Thobela (37) and Anton Hlongwa (18) are expected in court this week to seek bail on a charge of housebreaking and theft.
Biting the hand As the festive season approaches, one can expect to see an increase in crime. Last week, security officer Sakhile Sithole of Stanger Tractor Services noticed an employee heading towards a bin across the road. He spotted the employee retrieve a wheel drum with a bearing and called him. However, the man ignored him and began to walk away with his prized possession valued at R45 000 firmly tucked under his arm. Sithole apprehended Thokozani Menyuka (23) and alerted his employer of the incident. Menyuka was charged with theft and was remanded in custody. He is expected to launch an application for bail this week.
Helping hands It is heartening to note that more people are coming to the party by giving police vital information. Last week, Lizzy Ngwenya noticed her lights on inside the main house at Charlottdale. On inspecting she noticed that several items were missing and the culprits had eaten her bananas and left the peels strewn about. A week later, police were tipped off that the culprit responsible

All systems, humanly possible are in place to ensure an effective focused intervention by Gift of the Givers teams in Philippines. We held the teams back and delayed departure simply because of inaccessibility to regions whose infrastructure has been completely destroyed by the intensity of the super Typhoon Haiyan. The first two team members departed from Ireland and Denmark to prepare for the arrival of the 20-member team that departed South Africa. The team comprises divers, advance life support paramedics specialising in water rescue and primary health care, a trauma doctor and a paediatrician. All relevant equipment related to water rescue and releasing of trapped bodies accompanied the team as distraught victims needed to recover the bodies of their loved ones to begin the process of closure in what is clearly an arena of unimaginable psychological, emotional and physical trauma. Finding survivors and recovering bodies, together with primary health care and
treatment of wounds was the focus of the first team. Medical supplies, medicines, delivery packs for those giving birth (it is expected that 12 000 women will deliver in a week alone), foil blankets to wrap newborns, wound dressings, high energy and protein ready-to-eat supplements (no cooking or heating required) comprise the emergency cargo. The team was received by Rescue 926, a local organisation linked to the Philippines Coast Guard, and who have extensive experience in the recent earthquake and previous natural disasters. All rescue activities will be carried out jointly. The Rescue 926 team is closely affiliated with the Honorary Consul of the Philippines in Cape Town, Mr Steven Chairmowitz, who together with the Philippines Embassy and South Africa's International Relations Department extended all support to us. Rear Admiral Isorena, head of the coast guard is arranging a vessel to take our teams and supplies to Tacloban given the volume of our supplies. This was a two journey by ship. They are trying to extend this special favour to us given that all vessels and planes are

UMapholoba ukhale kakhulu ebhekise kwabesifazane ngobunuku obudalwa ukulahlwa noma ikuphi kwamanabukeni ephepha nasuke esesebenzile. Ekhala nangokuthi amanye alahlwa nje eceleni kwemigqomokazi (skips) ehlinzekwe ngumasipala kulomphakathi. Esho ukuthi kuyaxaka ukuthi umuntu usengathi esefikile endaweni yokulahla udoti bese evele ewulahla phansi kunokuthi awufake phakathi emgqonyeni. Abasebenzi benkampani u-J Arrow abasebenza ukuxwayisa abantu ngokongiwa kwamanzi nabo bakhale kakhulu ngokumoshwa kwamanzi okwenziwa ngabantu abawashela empompini yomphakathi (standpipes) nezingane eziye zitholakale sezibhukuda khona. Bakhale ngenani lamanzi amoshekayo njengoba abantu bevele bawavulele nje ngokunganaki ekubeni lokhu ikhona futhi okubuye kuholele nasekulimaleni komgwaqo. Ngesikhathi sekwethulwa umbiko mayelana nezinhlelo ezididiyelwe
zikamasipala, uMnu Sikhumbuzo Hlongwane onguMqondisi-Jikelele eMnyangweni wezokuThuthukiswa koMnotho nokuHlela kumasipala waKwaDukuza utshele ebebehambele lembizo ukuthi bakhathazekile kakhulu bengumasipala ngabantu abathenga kubona umhlaba kodwa abasaqhubeka nokuwudayisela abanye abantu. Ukhulume ngezinhlelo abanazo emnyangweni wakhe ezithinta abantu abasha, ezibandakanya ukuthuthukiswa kwezemidlalo nokukhishwa kwemifundaze. Utshele intsha ukuthi njengoba kade ibhalela umatikuletsheni, kuzofuneka isheshe izifake izicelo zayo zemifundaze ngoba bayivulile iminyango. Washo nokuthi amafomu azobe esetholakala kwamasipala kusukela ngomhlaka-10 kuDisemba. Ezinye izinhlelo okukhulunywe ngazo zithinte uhlelo lwezindlu ezaziwa ngeAlbert Luthuli Housing, iningi lazo elasala lingaqedwanga nezinye zingakhiwanga nhlobo. Uthembise umphakathi ukuthi izindlu ezingama-66
ezasala zingakhiwanga kuloluhlelo sezizokwakhiwa kanti lezi ezakhiwayo kodwa ezingekho esimweni esikahle, zona zingase ziqalwe phansi. Eminye imiklamo esendleleni ithinte ukulungiswa komgwaqo kanye namapayipi emihosha (stormwater drainages), ukufakwa kwama-speed humps ukuvimbela ijubane, ukuvalwa kwemigodi esemigwaqeni, ukwakhiwa kwemigwaqo iNtshawini/Hlalanathi Link Road neCharlottedale Observation. Abantu batshelwe ukuthi sebezothola amalambu asemgwaqeni angu-16 ezindaweni ezisemakhaya kanti azoba ngu-10 kwezisemadolobheni. Amalambu afile nawo kuthiwa azolungiswa uma eseqashiwe usonkontileka. Umphakathi wakwawadi 24 nawo uthenjisiwe ukuthi sekuseduze zifike izimoto ezizomunca indle. Uphinde wakhala nangabantu abasha abashiya phansi isikole balibale ukudla izidakamizwa kodwa kube kunezikole okungasakhokhwa kuzona.
Sekugqokwa kanjani kanti manje? Emva kwezikhalazo eziningi ezivela emphakathini ngendlela odadewethu esebegqoka ngayo kulezizinsuku, umuntu uthi ake enze ubulungiswa naye awukhuze lomhlola. Akekho ongasho ukuthi ubani ngempela oqhamuka nalesisitayela sokugqoka kodwa umuntu akusavumi athule manje. Njengoba sekusehlobo nje, umuntu ziningi izinto azibona zigqokiwe la ngaphandle ngenxa yokuthi abantu bafuna ukuzipholela. Inkinga ke iqhamuka kodadewethu laba obafica sebezimpintshe ngaloluhlobo lwamabhulukwe olubizwa ngama-leggings. Ama-leggings wona awanayo neze inkinga uma umuntu ekwazi ukuthi agqokelwa kanjani, kodwa okuthusayo ilokhu kokuthi umuntu umfice esegqoke lelibhulukwe nesikibha sangasenhla esizigcinela nje ngezansi kwenkaba. Umuntu avele abhushazele ngamathanga obala nje emdala. Nomzimba usukaleke wonke. Okubuhlungu kakhulu ukuzwa abantu besilisa bekhononda ngento abayibukayo, bekhombisa ukuyinyanya nje. Nohlobo lwezindangu akhiwa ngazo lama-leggings azifani njengoba kukhona lezi ezithi zinganwebeka bese zikhanya kakhulu wena owabona ipantihose, kuze kubonakale ngisho nesikhindi umuntu asifake ngaphansi (underwear). Kuyisicelo nje lokhu kodadewethu ukuthi sengathi bangathi uma bewagqokile lamabhulukwe kodwa bawagqoka nokwangasenhla okuzokwazi ukuzimboza nezinqe. Lokhu kuwukucabangela isithunzi sakho uma uhamba phakathi kwabantu ngoba isikhathi esiningi kwenziwa abantu esebekhulile nangeminyaka.

071 743 5128 Mama Zuula opened the luck in my life. Today I am doing extremely well financially and I also found a man of my dreams says (Travis Shiru 38) Umhlanga. Now even at work things have changed, my bosses like me a lot and even with my family things are going very well. I used to date wrong men who would leave me broken-hearted and crying, and money used to slip through my fingers no knowing what I did with it. I always had financial problems, but all that changed. Today I can’t believe this is my life that has changed so much especially financially and love-wise. Mama Zuula can help you. She is honest and understanding.

The Tongaat Mall tragedy was a disaster waiting to happen. My sympathy goes out to the family who lost their loved one and all the others who were injured. But now watch the fiasco as all turn on each other and run like scared rabbits. They will do what we, as a country do best i.e. blame someone else for our shortcomings, inefficiencies, lack of transparency and not following proper policy, procedures and protocol. Daily we come across many developers who “cut corners”, do not observe curing times and breach many other critical building regulations as they are chasing time and money. Needless to say, some of those monstrosities they build feature in our town also. Breaking and bending the rules has been practised in many municipalities. However all that should change soon. Mr Hlongwane (Executive Director EDP - KwaDukuza Municipality) now you need not hesitate to apply the law to ensure the safety of the

public. You have our support. The community would love to see your department enforce the law and ensure that all bylaws are complied with, immaterial as to whom the developer is and how connected he may be. Sloppy, illegal work and unsafe building work must be punished. I make a further request that all buildings, commercial or flats (2 storeys and more) must have a plaque or notice at the entrance of the building stating the following: Name of the developer Name of the contractor and the company's name Name of the architect and his company Name of the engineer and his company Name of the municipal officials who passed the building from the different departments Name of the official from the NHBRC who was involved in the project Others who were involved in prominent capacities in the erection and compliance of the building
It does not matter how old the building is (especially if it is built after 1994) we request that this be done so that we will be aware of all those responsible for our safety when we go to any mall or building that is 2 or more storeys high. If you do this, you can be guaranteed better buildings and compliance in all matters. I am also curious to know whether officials from the municipal town planning department conduct visits and inspections on existing buildings to ensure compliance and no deviations after a few years! Have they visited the shops and flats in Stanger Manor and in other areas of the town to check whether there has been any material changes to the buildings that are non compliant and may affect the safety of people? If you have complaints about the building you are living in and the builder or developer has short-changed you, write to this newspaper and expose them. (You may remain anonymous) SAFETY WATCH

The frenzied partypoliticking around the country, the inconsequential mud-slinging, slurs, denigration, rudeness and unnecessary spending on jetsetting lifestyles are totally futile and irrelevant when seen against the backdrop of the extent of child abuse that takes place in this perverted part of the globe. It was appalling to see and read about how young and old, helpless, innocent victims are abused and killed, ( the brutal murder of Annine Booysen is just one example), especially in these 16 Days of Activism against Women and Children Abuse, which started on Monday. The poignant reality is that we can observe 16, 30 or 100 days of Activism in any facet of life, but if we don't glean lessons from them, we are being deluded. Dwell awhile and listen with your soul to w h a t ' s happening. Pay attention to the cries of children and

Conferences are meaningless if lessons are not learnt!! the direction in which we, as adults are heading. Have we lost our minds and have we become so uncaring, numb and insensitive? Stop the bickering, power struggle and the insane scrambling for wealth and focus on the calamities and the heartbreak that parents undergo as they bury their innocent children. Abandon the twaddle and drivel around 'e-tolling', the 'Gupthagate' scandal, 'Nkandlagate' cover-up, Cosatu's agenda, Ramaphosa's fear of a Boer uprising, the countless illegal tenders, the power cuts, damaged infrastructure, bribery and corruption, the allegations, convictions…!! These will never end, so long as human avarice for acquisition and self- interest eclipses all else. Don't be obsessed by wealth and advancement of your own lifestyle at the expense of others, is my message to the indolent, obese, overpaid mayors, councilors, ministers and other unsympathetic people. You have looted enough from the coffers already!! Turn your attention to the underprivileged; learn to share and do the work that you have been appointed to do, especially now with the festive season upon us. Before you plan your drunken, extravagant revelries and orgies at the taxpayer's expense, align your moral compass and turn

your attention to the lessfortunate. With the new year around the corner, reflect on what you have accomplished, and how you can impact positively on peoples' lives. The latest in the long list of the blameless who was killed this month is little 8-year old Shaafika Baartman. What are we doing that our behavior has been reduced to a level which is worse than that of beasts? It is in these crisis moments, and indeed always, that we must turn to our Creator for proper guidance. Even renowned poet, William Butler Yeats said that there will be a 'Second Coming' of the Spiritus Mundi- the unleashing of Antichrist forces that will spread anarchy and annihilation in the world. Only the good will survive-so let's be a part of that group who will uphold and perpetuate wholesome values in the world and treat everyone with dignity, respect, love and reverence. . (Pssst. Did you see how the Ministers in parliament have outgrown their expansive suits? Some look very awkward and uncomfortable in them!! Buttons won't close!). Put politicians on minimum wage and see how quickly things change!! Keep your thoughts flowing and the letters rolling. Hey, lest I forget; here's hoping that all matriculants do very well and come through with flying colours.

Mama Rashim
Sometimes God tests us to see what we can do. It wasn’t easy for me for the past 6 years. My name is Mohammed Bawn from Hutten Heights. Like I said above, my wife left me for another man with my children. She left me with nothing. As a man without a family, you’re nothing. I tried to buy expensive cars and gifts but nothing changed. That's when I saw Mama Rashim advert in the newspapers and heard people talking about him. I decided to go to him. When I went to see him, he was so friendly and he gave me hope that one day i would get my family back. Although I couldn't believe he prayed because I had no faith. Things started tto change when I started having faith in him. Now I am with my lovely wife and children.

SERVICE GUIDE
MAMA SHAMIRAH The gifted healer choosen by the forefathers Daniels Annithah of Umlazi township. We bought a house in this town Umlazi but never lived a peaceful life as a family because the house was possessed by bad SPELLS AND DEMONS which used to cry from inside & outside, by the time we went in that house. I had two kids and a girl who were normal kids with no problem. But ever since we entered the house we never considered again, in hospital they were telling me that I do not have any problem. All business declined without any profits, others completely closed down!! Until when we consulted the gifted healer MAMA SHAMIRAH who captured the bad SPELLS & DEMONS and gave us protection to put in the yard. Thus when we got to live a peaceful life as a family in our home. Everything came back to normal, I got pregnant and gave birth to twins. The old girl who had got paralysed for two years got cured. She also boosted all businesses that had declined, those that had closed we re opened and now we are in big profits hoping to start a CASH LOANING BUSINESS and EXCHANGING FOREIGN CURRENCIES to domestic. Don't sit back with problems eating you up even if when you have a different problem from ours make an appointment with MAMA SHAMIRAH she will help you solve it without wasting time.

“Not to publish and distribute pictures of the president's villa” It is important that the cabinet appoints a national commissar, provincial district and local commissars from MKMVA who will teach the national media, tourists and cellphone users not to publish and distribute pictures of the president's villa in Inkandla, as it is a security threat to do so. These commissars must be accountable to Richard Mdluli. Advocate Thuli Madonsela, who has failed to produce a corruption report on housing corruption in wards 7 and 10 and on why did iLembe Council and SAPS Commercial fail to have thieves who stole cheques worth R1 million charged and prosecuted has won a fierce battle that Thabo Mbeki, Bulelani Ngcuka and Vusi Pikoli could not win, the defense of our National Security Key point, the public purse or Treasury. Demonstrating fearless attitude and bravery, she said: “I do not understand how truth can jeopardize the safety of the president?” In their communication blunders, the Security Cluster in the mouth of Minister Nathi Mthethwa, he said it is illegal to publish the house of the president because it breaches “security”. How does showing Mam Makhumalo's R500 000 tuck-shop, R10 million roads inside the villa, family houses disguised as “guard houses” landscaping costing R11.3 million, temporary mobile park home at R2.1 million, clinic at R10 million, visitors lounge at R7.9 million and rubbish compact unit at R460 000 and refuse area at R515 000. We are told SAPS is 100 years old. Among three post apartheid police or safety and security ministers, Nathi Mthethwa is the only minster whose house has been fenced by SAPS clandestinely at R200 000. This rare a gift was never given to Sydney Mufamadi, Steve Tshwete and Charles Nqakula. The first 10 years of transition were violent. I have never seen a R500
000 tuck-shop, a refuse area in IsiZulu “izala” built at R515 000. Surely these items and the R1.2 million kraal will enter the Guinness book of records. Cyril Ramaphosa has joined the league of populists that has Malusi Gigaba, Julius Malema and President Zuma. He is unable to defend textbook, Guptagate and Inkandlagate scandals, he warned the ignorant masses of the return of the Boers. I am sure he was not referring to Ina Cronje, Matthinus Schalwyk, Derek Hanekom and other comrades. Be not surprised if he says “ANC members must not eat a “boerewors” because Boers are going to take power again, this would be a new style of a consumer boycott. The DA would like to see people accepting that nothing has changed since 1994 and assisted by liberal media to portray every African as corrupt except Nelson Mandela. While a lot has been done since 1994, there emerge tendencies that soil the liberation struggle and delivery. To detail what corrupt forces, political lootocrats, tenderpreneurs and others do to milk the state; a one million page doctoral thesis will not be enough. Reports of the Public Protector and AuditorGeneral and media expose have valuable information on corruption, mismanagement and patterns of a decaying state that has been mortgaged to corrupt forces, drug-lords and foreign spies. In their books Reverend Frank Chikane and Vusi Pikoli elaborate on this point. Race in South Africa, as in USA, Britain, and Germany and so on will take years to disappear. Utterances by Ramaphosa, Gigaba, Mazibuye Africa Forum, PAC, DA and Malema do not address the national question within the framework of the Freedom Charter. Also the behavior of Guptas, Schabir Shaik, Vivian Reddy, Jay Singh, Thoshan Panday and Roy Moodley and how they bankroll politicians does not advance the Freedom Charter. Siyanda Mhlongo KwaDukuza

“Kill the Indians, kill the whites” Mazibuye African Forum last week incited violence with shouts of “kill the Indians, kill the whites” at the Phoenix Industrial Park over work-related issues. This is clear hate slogans and must be condemned by all peaceloving South Africans. Advocating violence against minority groups is unacceptable and must be stopped in its tracks. A complaint has been lodged with the Human Rights Commission and they need to act swiftly on this sensitive and dangerous matter. According to newspaper reports about 44 people including Mazibuye members held a businessman hostage and spewed racial hate speech during the protest. Eslin inspires Dawnheights to victory
Eslin Jude Abraham
Man-of-the-match Eslin Jude Abraham inspired Dawnheights to a thrilling 23-runs victory against Magnum in an iLembe and District Cricket Union 50Ovens League game played at the Country Club Ground on Sunday. Dawnheights won the toss and elected to bat first. Dawnheights lost wickets at regular intervals and were staring defeat early in the game after struggling at 32/4. Suhail Singh and veteran player Suveer Maharaj almost doubled Dawnheights tally, taking the score to 61/5 after Singh (19) was adjudged LBW to a K. Padayachee delivery. Magnum skipper, I. Hemraj wrapped up the Dawnheights tail, finishing with figures of 4 wickets for 3 runs from 4 overs. Dawnheights were bundled out for 80 runs in the 38th over with Maharaj scoring an unbeaten 18 runs. Magnum got off to a disastrous start losing four wickets (8/4) thanks to a brilliant opening bowling spell by Eslin. Liam Luke tried to resuscitate Magnum's
innings but was dismissed by Singh for 14 runs. Eslin continued to wreak havoc with the ball finishing his 10-oven spell with a brilliant 5 wickets haul for 21 runs. Magnum were in all sorts of trouble at the death, facing defeat at 32/9. Calvin Pillay (6) and Saveshan Govender (12) put on a 24-runs partnership for the 10th wicket, but it was not enough to save the blushes of the Magnum outfit who went down by 23 runs. Dawnheights skipper, Maharaj heaped praise upon his youthful charges and singled out Eslin for his sterling performance with the new ball. Meanwhile, on Saturday Magnum lost to Oceanville at the Country Club Ground by 1-run in the last delivery of the match. Magnum won the toss and elected to bat first. D. Nundkissun (38) and I. Hemraj (11) got off to a steady start after seeing off the opening pace bowlers scoring at almost six an over.

Titans crowned Sanaa Champions
Winners of the KDSA Social league, Titans Volleyball Club added yet another title to their name when they were crowned the champions of the 13th edition of the Sanaa knockout cup played under the aegis of the Stanger and District Volleyball Association in a pulsating final played in front of a partisan crowd at the association courts last Tuesday. They beat Darnall Action Sporting in straight sets to lift the tournament. The first set began with Titans dominating the early exchanges to take a slender lead. Once THE GREAT PROF. Darnall were determined to add at least one silverware to their collection and this showed as they started the second set like a house on fire, matching Titans in every department. The lead changed hands on numerous occasions as the teams matched each other point for point. With the scores locked at 20-20, Titans stepped up a gear to lead 2321. Darnall quickly snatched the next point to reduce the score to just 1 point (22-23). Titans wasted a match point before sealing victory 25-23 to clinch the Sanaa Cup. Teachers Style, who have won the Sanaa Cup an unprecedented 4 times in the cup's 13 year history were outgunned by Cool Leaders 25-17, 26-18 and 15-7. Teachers could be clearly seen struggling without their inspirational captain, Nazir Khan who could not take to the courts because of injury.

The tournament that got underway last night will see the next rounds of fixtures being played tomorrow (Thursday) with the finals scheduled for next Tuesday, 3 December 2013. The SDVA finance department under the treasurer, Rajiv Mathapersad warned clubs that the entry fee of R300 plus the cost of the SDVA awards evening to be held on Friday, 13 December 2013 must be paid prior to
the tournament. Teams failing to do so will have their prize money forfeited. The tournament will be played on a purely knock out basis with the losers of the first round advancing into a plate section and the rest of the teams advancing into the main section. The winner of the main section will waltz away with a whopping R1500. Knock out specialist, KSST who have won all knock out tournaments in 2013, start off as favourites to lift the Kista's Mobile knock out tournament and they will be closely watched by league winners Grove End and Randsons. Social league teams will have to produce something special if they want to ruffle the feathers of the competitive league teams. But what is commonly known, knockout tournaments can produce upsets and social league teams will be pinning their hopes on Titans and Teachers Style to produce those upsets.

Naidu was full of praise for Mikailin stating that it was pupils of this calibre who bring glory to their school. “We must ensure that we do everything to enhance their potential and abilities so that they carve their place in society and world of sport. We are hopeful and would love to see Mikailin in the KZN Dolphins team and also Protea side soon. His talent and skill has brought immense glory to our school. We would love to see more pupils take this lead and we, as the SGB, will do everything we can to help these pupils reach their goals. This feat is indicative that our school does not only produce the top pupils and outstanding academic results, we also groom and produce outstanding sportspeople. It is
evident that Mikailin's commitment, perseverance and dedication has paid off and he is on the brink of an illustrious career,” commented Mr Naidu. Mikailin will attend a three day training camp for the team this weekend where, as the captain, he will be discussing various strategies with the coach and manager. Thereafter the team will leave the following weekend to Kimberley to play in the South African
Championship. An achievement of this magnitude can only be admired and praised as this youngster brings glory to our town. Our town wishes him well and may he fly our flag high and make us proud at the SA Schools Cricket Championship. Congratulations to Mikailin Naicker on reaching this incredible feat. This comes from the Xpress Times team.
