A Circle’s Story:
When Life Crushes You Life provides suffering, and can architecture heal?
Docklands Restoration Centre Melbourne, Australia An undergraduate thesis that starts with an image. A collage by the author, titled “Shared Experiences”. Fragments of images are cut out and arranged in a way that shows the building is simultaneously a restorative and ritualistic machine, marrying ecological values with the process of restoration.

The chosen site locates in Docklands, Melbourne Australia which named The Queen’s Warehouse. The heritage building is a two-storey, red brick, arcaded warehouse with a corrugated iron roof. It has approximately 6 parapets which separate both floors into three areas. The building structure is supported on timber piles and bearers upon which the brick strip foundations are laid.
DESIGN CONCEPT
TOWARD A HE AL I N G JO UR N E Y
The Project is a piece of narrative interior architecture set in the world remade by COVID-19, which is an ideal vehicle for re-imagining the present-day of Melbourne, Australia and post-pandemic scenarios for architecture and social change. Aspects such as the way interior architecture respond and improve the overall wellness of population from mental health illness like chronic stress, anxiety, and depression, the modernity’s crisis of loneliness and the loss of real experiences in a coronavirus world are explored. The narrative revolves around design can heal people.

From a design perspective, I am searching for a suitable perceptual thinking that can give form to the formless. My goal for this space is to increase the awareness of mental illness and the importance of good mental health by understanding what it’s really is. People who have experienced sadness may think they understand depression, but that’s not usually the case. While depression is a serious mental illness, it is often misunderstood.
This project looks at how people living with depression provided insight into the pain, anguish, and distress of someone trapped in what many consider a living nightmare, then designed an accessible destination for healing. The environment cannot cause healing to occur but can facilitate engagement in behaviour and emotions that support healing; the environment can induce physical and emotional responses such as happiness, joy, and relaxation; and the built environment can enhance individual control and functionality—all of which are antecedents to healing. 11
The work has been generated through research, evidence-based design principles, and reflection on the contemporary Australian urban condition. It focuses on highlighting the aforementioned aspects and traces breadcrumb into a possible future. CIRCULATION STRATEGY A path as an experience. All programmatic elements are designed to be directly accessible through a series of lifts, and indoor and outdoor stairs MULTIPLE ACCESS POINTS The Docklands Restoration Centre will present itself as open and inviting, regardless of which way people might be using to arrive. At each access point, the visitors will find a virtual information hub located nearby to help them navigate through the centre space. Like a map for a journey refer to the design concept - A Healing Journey.

Explore the mixture of the spaces in between as a way of connecting people. To capture social value, the Social room and Recreation room are designed to work as a community hub that can promote social cohesion, by bringing together different social or generational groups; increasing social capital and building trust; increasing wider social networks and interaction between community members; and increase individual’s knowledge or skills.

How design can cultivate a closer engagement with Nature? Finding the answer by investigating the Local, the Phenomenological, the Material, the Sensory and the HandMade as antidotes to our culture of maximum harm. 23

In the 21st Century, however, with Climate Change, and Peak Oil on the horizon, the dual mantras of consumption and progress are being questioned. A central concern of Sustainable Design is to adopt strategies that Lower Energy use. These strategies deploy certain forms, materials, programs, and technologies. The project aims to achieve a full, immersive, multisensory experience of natural phenomena and materials to engender an ecological literacy that underpins truly sustainable design.
The design approach focused on passive solar design strategies including shading, ventilation, material science of insulation, and thermal mass. Furthermore, the building has been considered about Water Technologies, Solar Hot Water, Larger building Passive heating and cooling strategies , Lighting, Energy Generation, and Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) material selection.
Being inspired by hexagons all over the place in nature, particularly, Victorian Hexagonal Rock Formations or Columnar Joints. At the beginning stage, the hexagon tiles are kept in its original colour terracotta.

SWINBURNE
This project aims to understand how architectural aspects of student housing influence students’ residential satisfaction and a feeling of home. The chosen site is located in the residential area and close to Swinburne University. It was key to bring a sense of community to the house whilst also respecting the needs of an individual’s space. Designed specifically to suit a group of cohabiting students, it combines large en-suite bedrooms with a range of communal spaces, so that residents can live and work alongside each other, but also find solitude when they need it. I carved a route through the middle of the house from the front entrance hall to the back garden which became the key circulation route around which the shared spaces are organised.

Sai Gon’s underground will become the first subway system in Viet Nam when it might begin operation in 2022. Subways are an essential part of public transportation in cities. Within these systems, architecture plays a big role in defining the environment of the subway. Based on the iconic buildings, which are just the start of a series of stations that will push the boundaries for subway architecture.

Discreet cornices, columns, doors, and windows with clear outlines, marble fireplaces – all furnishings tend to rectangular form. The colour scheme of the interior is maintained in light pastel colours. Niches of spacious rooms are decorated with statues, to hair’s breadth as in ancient times. Classical ornaments depict oak or laurel leaves, and Greek meander, but it can be seen a certain order and symmetry at their disposition. Classicism in interior design implies the presence of arches, stucco, halfcolumns, and columns.
