GERIATRIC CARE ASSISTANT PROGRAM
About The Program
Students will attend classes at the Xavier campus 2 days per week, with each of 3 semesters being a total of 15 weeks Competent professors will instruct the students in all aspects of elderly care. The first semester begins in September 2024.
This program will be available to all who are 18 years of age and older The course will be taught in English. The total for the entire course will be 1080 hours of instruction, both in practical teaching and clinical experience.
The cost of the program is $1,000 USD per semester. The total cost of the program is $3,000 USD.
There will be a no-interest monthly payment plan option available through Xavier’s finance office.
Hands-on Experience
Students will be given opportunities to experience clinical rotations at various sites in Aruba including: Horacio Oduber Hospital, Stichting Algemene Bejaardenzorg Aruba (SABA), and Wit Gele Kruis Aruba (White Yellow Cross). Clinical rotations will begin in the second semester and continue into the third.
Job Preparation
With an aging population in Aruba, there will be many opportunities for graduates of Xavier University’s Geriatric Care Assistant Program. Students will be totally equipped with the skills they need to competently care for Aruba’s elderly, and will have many avenues available to them to obtain employment in this field.
Aligned with Aruba’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Xavier University’s Geriatric Care Assistant Program will help educate and train more Aruba citizens to obtain jobs providing healthcare for the aging population of the country.
