Students will spend their first 2 years of the MD program completing Basic Science in Aruba.

Small Classes. Expanded Learning.

A major benefit of studying medicine at Xavier is the small student-teacher ratio (6:1). More intimate classes keep students from feeling lost and invisible in massive lecture halls.

Farhan Ahmed Toronto, Canada

“One of my primary reasons for choosing Xavier over other Caribbean medical schools was the small and integrated classroom sizes that allow students to engage with each other and get any additional help on lecture content or preparation for examinations. The curriculum is well-designed to cater to learning content in a systems-based method that helps students integrate all aspects and subjects. In addition, the library on campus has access to a wide range of resources that aid the understanding of concepts for medical students.”

“I chose Xavier for many reasons, but one of the main reasons was because of the system-based curriculum. Students are able to learn in a much better way and it prepares students for a successful future as a doctor.”

Curriculum Modeled on MD Programs in the US

Xavier uses the same integrated system-based curriculum model that is utilized in medical schools throughout the US. This means that we teach medicine that is aligned to the systems of the body, such as the cardiovascular or respiratory system. Does this approach work at Xavier?

Our 95% first-time USMLE Step 1 passing rate, indeed, confirms that it does.
