Both triathletes set a high tempo from the start in Marina Rubicon, with Nieschlag dominating from start to finish and Haug forced to come from behind on the bike and confirming her victory in the running leg.
After a 1.9 km swim in our crystal clear waters, the athletes completed a demanding yet breathtaking 90 km bike ride that took them through places such as Timanfaya and El Golfo, and a 21.1 km run along the coastline of Playa Blanca.
The most distinguished Spanish triathletes were Anna Noguera, who finished fifth with an outstanding run, and Jordi Montraveta, who finished twelfth.
The awards ceremony was held in the Rubicón Shop & Fun shopping centre in an amazing atmosphere among athletes and their families.
