Yaiza celebra con alegría y orgullo el Día de Canarias

Decenas de vecinos y turistas confraternizaron los días 29 y 30 de mayo, primero en Yaiza y posteriormente en Playa Blanca, durante los festejos organizados en el municipio con motivo del Día de Canarias.

La plaza Nuestra Señora de los Remedios de Yaiza fue la primera en engalanarse para acoger, en la noche del domingo 29, un tenderete amenizado por las parrandas Pal’ Porrón, Los Labradores y Son del Mar, muy participado no solo por residentes sino también por turistas que animados por el ambiente se acercaban poco a poco para finalizar integrándose, degustando productos típicos en el enyesque ofrecido e, incluso, aprendiendo algunos pasos de baile ayudados por los locales.

Ya el lunes 30, Día de Canarias, los festejos se trasladaron a la localidad turística de Playa Blanca donde arrancaron tempranito con el Acto Institucional y la izada de banderas por parte de los representantes de la Corporación Local, acompañados por los acordes de la Banda Municipal.

Seguidamente los niños y niñas de la Escuela Municipal de Lucha Canaria se encargaron de ofrecer una exhibición en la playita del pueblo, bajo las órdenes de su entrenador Tomás Quesada, trasladándose posteriormente la fiesta a la plaza del Carmen donde además de ofrecer paseos a camello por el centro de la localidad, también se agasajó a los presentes con un enyesque compuesto de productos típicos y las actuaciones de la Agrupación Folklórica Rubicón, con su cuerpo de toque y de baile, y la Parranda Trasmallo.

Dozens of locals and tourists gathered on 29 and 30 May, first in Yaiza and then in Playa Blanca, for the festivities held in the municipality on the occasion of Canary Islands Day.

The Plaza Nuestra Señora de los Remedios in Yaiza was the first square to be adorned to host a tenderete (traditional musical encounter), on the night of Sunday 29th, enlivened by the musical groups Pal’ Porrón, Los Labradores and Son del Mar. The event proved highly popular not only with residents but also with tourists encouraged by the atmosphere, who gradually approached and ended up joining in, trying typical products in the courtesy enyesque (aperitif) and even learning some dance steps with the help of the locals. On Monday 30th, Canary Islands Day, the festivities moved to the tourist town of Playa Blanca, starting early with the official ceremony and the hoisting of the flags by the local government representatives, accompanied by the Municipal Band. Following this, the boys and girls of the Municipal School of Lucha Canaria gave an exhibition on the town beach, under the orders of their coach Tomás Quesada, before the festivities moved to Plaza del Carmen where, besides offering camel rides through the centre of the town, attendees were also entertained with an enyesque consisting of typical products and performances by Rubicon Folklore Group, with its guitar and dance group, and Parranda Trasmallo.

El pueblo de Uga salió a la calle a mediados del pasado mes de mayo con muchas ganas e ilusión para reencontrarse con sus fiestas patronales que que se vivió en la localidad durante toda la semana con campeonatos, actividades infantiles, el humor de los play-back de los mayores o el Encuentro de Orquestas. Mención aparte merecen la Gala de Jóvenes Proromeros y romeras por las calles de la localidad, que por primera vez se hizo de forma conjunta, fue sin duda uno de los actos más esperado y especialmente emocionante.

Los Sabandeños y la agrupación

honran a San Isidro Labrador, las primeras en celebrarse en el municipio de Yaiza después de dos años de restricciones por la pandemia.

Altísima fue la participación en todos los actos y gran ambiente el mesas, en la que actuaron Verónica Lucía, Alexia Caraballo y Elieser Betancort además de la voz invitada de Tahíche, Atenea, el Ballet Juvenil Dance Pop y Lanzarote Baila.

La procesión y peregrinación de Teguey pusieron el broche de oro al programa festivo en la localidad, que se encargó también de abrir el calendario de verbenas de la Isla, siendo el evento de mayor concentración de público de las fiestas.

The people of Uga took to the streets in midMay with huge enthusiasm and excitement to celebrate their patron saint festivities in honour of San Isidro Labrador, the first to be held in the municipality of Yaiza after two years of restrictions due to the pandemic.

Participation in all the events was very high and there was an electric atmosphere in the town throughout the week with championships, children’s activities, the humour of song miming of the elderly and the Orchestras Meeting. It is worth giving a special mention to the Gala of Upcoming Talents, with performances by Verónica Lucía, Alexia Caraballo and Elieser Betancort, as well as the guest voice of Tahíche, Atenea, the Youth Ballet Dance Pop and Lanzarote Baila.

The procession and pilgrimage of Romeros and Romeras (participants of the Romeria religious

ceremony) through the streets of the town, which for the first time was done together, was undoubtedly one of the most eagerly-awaited and especially exciting events.

Los Sabandeños and the group Teguey brought the perfect finale to the festive programme in the town, which was also responsible for opening the island’s calendar of festivals, and recorded the highest concentration of festival-goers.
