Yale Cancer Center Clinical Trials O ce
What Is A Clinical Trial?
Clinical trials are research studies that involve patient volunteers and allow healthcare providers and patients access to the latest medicines and treatments before they are potentially approved for wider use. These studies answer important questions such as, “What are the side e ects of a medicine?” or “Which treatment is better?” All medicines that are currently approved were first available to patients through clinical trials.
The Yale Cancer Center Clinical Trials O ce has a rich history of drug discovery and development. Researchers are finding new ways to treat cancer and to give patients renewed hope for cure of their disease. Yale is home to some of the world’s leading investigators in cancer. Their knowledge and research allows for many new therapies and advances to be available to patients at Smilow Cancer Hospital.
My cancer was the last thought I had before sleep and my rst thought in the morning, and I am blessed that I got to take a trial drug. I have experienced so much more in my life than I thought possible, and none of that would have happened without
the support of my family and the opportunity to be on a trial.
For that I will always be grateful.
