Yamaha YZF-R1M. We R1.
YZF-R1M With its 998cc, 200PS crossplane engine, compact aluminium/magnesium chassis and lightweight carbon body, the YZF-R1M fuses YZR-M1 MotoGP technology with R-series DNA.
The ECU works with the QSS and improved lift control system (LIF) to allow harder acceleration – and the fairing’s restyled graphics focus on its lightweight carbon structure.

For reduced lap times the Quick Shift System (QSS) gives seamless upshifting and downshifting. The Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS) automatically adjusts damping to give higher levels of braking, acceleration and cornering control – and the new interface makes selecting modes easier.
Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS)
Communication Control Unit (CCU)
Lightweight carbon fairing
YZR-M1 derived 200PS crossplane engine
The latest second generation Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS) is the most sophisticated system ever developed by Öhlins for a production motorcycle. Its advanced software gives a higher degree of braking, acceleration and cornering support with improved front-end feel – and the interface makes suspension set-up quick and easy.
The Communication Control Unit (CCU) has a data logging function that allows you to record a wide range of running data, including lap times, speed, throttle position, GPS tracking, lean angle and more. It can also be used to communicate with the Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) system when viewing, downloading or changing the running modes.
One of the many exclusive features on the flagship YZF-R1M is its carbon fairing, and in order to underline the bike’s exclusivity, the graphics are made of ultra-light material visible on the fairing panels.
The YZF-R1M is powered by a 998cc, crossplane, 4 cylinder, 4-valve engine that develops 200PS - without ram air pressurisation. Derived from our winning YZR-M1 MotoGP bike, its crossplane crankshaft gives an uneven 270° - 180° - 90° - 180° firing sequence for high levels of linear torque.
6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU)
Quick Shift System (QSS)
ABS with Unified Brake System
Compact Deltabox chassis
The highly sophisticated 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) delivers precise running data to the new ECU – which activates the upgraded lift control system (LIF) as well as the MotoGP-derived banking angle sensitive rear wheel Slide Control System (SCS) and Traction Control System (TCS) for greater control and reduced lap times.
A high specification Quick Shift System (QSS) offers clutchless upshifting and downshifting that helps to maintain chassis stability for faster lap times, and also reduces the physical and mental input required by the rider. Using the Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) function, YZF-R1M riders can also select their preferred QSS mode.
The YZF-R1M’s dual 320mm front discs and monoblock calipers - as well as the 220mm rear disc - are equipped with a sophisticated banking sensitive ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) as well as Yamaha’s Unified Brake System that enable the rider to achieve high levels of controllability in different circuit or road situations.
The aluminium Deltabox frame features a long upward-truss type swingarm and magnesium rear frame, underlining the YZF-R1M’s strong M1 race bike heritage. The short 1,405mm wheelbase chassis and the low wet weight of just 200kg give the YZF-R1M a high level of agility and responsiveness for outstanding race and track performance.

YZF-R1
Developed using YZR-M1 MotoGP technology, this bike was born for the track. 200PS, 199kg and a 1,405mm wheelbase give an insight into its capabilities. But it’s what you can’t see that makes it so special.
YZR-M1-derived 200PS crossplane engine The YZF-R1 is powered by a 998cc, crossplane, 4 cylinder, 4-valve, engine that develops 200PS - without ram air pressurisation. Derived from our winning YZR-M1 MotoGP bike, its crossplane crankshaft gives an uneven 270° - 180° - 90° - 180° firing sequence for high levels of linear torque.
High-compression cylinder head and lightweight internals To achieve optimal performance the engine uses a high compression 13:1 cylinder head featuring a pent roof combustion chamber with large diameter intake and exhaust valves. And for instant response with high power and strong linear torque, the YZF-R1 is equipped with titanium con rods and forged aluminium pistons.
High volume air intake For optimal intake efficiency a YZR-M1 type central air inlet feeds a large capacity 10.5 litre airbox. Fresh air is force fed into the electronically activated Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake (YCC-I) funnels that adjust their length to match engine rpm for optimum power characteristics, to give high levels of usable performance.
Lightweight titanium exhaust and midship muffler For peak power and strong linear torque, the crossplane engine is equipped with a lightweight 4-2-1 exhaust system. A servomotor controlled exhaust valve adjusts gas flow for enhanced response and stronger engine output, while the compact mid ship muffler contributes towards mass centralisation and emits a unique growl.
Compact Deltabox chassis
YZR-M1 inspired cowling
Track-developed suspension
ABS with Unified Brake System
The aluminium Deltabox frame features a long upward-truss type swingarm and magnesium rear frame, underlining the R1’s strong YZR-M1 racebike heritage. The short 1,405mm wheelbase chassis and the R1’s low wet weight of just 199kg give the YZF-R1 a high level of agility and responsiveness for outstanding race and track performance.
With its central forced air intake, high screen and low headlight position, the YZF-R1’s aerodynamic front cowl has an unmistakable YZR-M1 race bike silhouette. Compact LED headlights on either side of the air intake emphasize the race-ready look, while twin LED position lights give this superbike a truly unique face.
The 43mm fully adjustable KYB forks use a large diameter 25mm front axle for a planted feel while the carefully balanced relationship between the pivot axis, drive sprocket axis and swingarm length give stable, precise and efficient handling performance during acceleration, braking and cornering.
The YZF-R1’s dual 320mm front discs and monoblock calipers - as well as the 220mm rear disc - are equipped with a sophisticated banking sensitive ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) as well as Yamaha’s Unified Brake System that enable the rider to achieve high levels of controllability in different circuit or road situations.

A wider diameter throttle body gives a smoother and more controllable throttle feel – and the new exhaust system produces a sporty and emotive sound.
To achieve higher levels of intake efficiency the YZF-R125s new engine is equipped with larger intake and exhaust valves as well as a more compact combustion chamber. Combined with the high-tech VVA – as well as the larger throttle body and new exhaust system – this configuration offers more performance from a stand still through to top speed.
The YZF-R125 is known as one of the besthandling bikes in its category, and for even smoother and lighter handling – with improved high speed comfort – the refined Deltabox frame uses optimised front and rear geometry. Equipped with a new shorter aluminium swingarm and 41mm upside down forks, the new YZF-R125 brings you the ultimate 125 supersport specification.
Yamaha R-Series models are designed to give you the ultimate in style, performance and technology, and to underline its position as the premium 125 supersport, the latest YZF-R125 features a new aluminium swingarm. Manufactured using Yamaha’s advanced casting technology, its shorter dimensions, low weight and optimised rigidity deliver sporty handling performance.

MyRide: Take your ride to the next level! Developed exclusively by Yamaha and available free of charge to every rider whatever brand of motorcycle or scooter they own - the new MyRide app allows tracking and storing detailed information about every ride. With the new Yamaha MyRide app, riders can record everything from lean angle, acceleration and speed through to elevation and braking force, making every journey even more rewarding. Apart from being able to review and analyse their own riding experiences, riders can also share their personal GPS Exchange Format (GPX) files* with other MyRide users. Also, riders can keep details of every motorcycle they ride or test - and they are able to check out many new routes by downloading other MyRide users' GPX files.
*GPX is a file format designed to provide GPS data to software applications such as navigators or GPS viewers. It can be used to describe waypoints, tracks, and routes.
