A value of 1 has no thermal insulation and is suitable for mild climates or situations where intensive perspiration occurs.

ACMT™ Advanced Climate Management Technology is FXR®’s proprietary collection of dry mesh venting, dual-layered HydrX™ Pro™ laminates and seam sealed linings, creating a Dual Layer Moisture Shield. This elite combination dramatically improves an outerwear garment’s ability to maintain waterproofness, breathability, reduce condensation, and manage the inner micro-climate zone between the body and the garment by creating a dual moisture shield against the damp and cold.

HydrX™ is FXR®’s exclusive Single Layer Moisture Shield that is applied to the outer shell of FXR® products. HydrX™ is applied as a single layer laminate in mid-level FXR® garments and a single layer coating in entry level FXR® garments

F.A.S.T.TM insulation is made from an expanded, low-density polyethylene foam membrane that offers buoyancy assistance for up to two hours. The flotation membrane construction has excellent insulation properties, even when wet, which is integral should you be submerged. The F.A.S.T.TM membrane is also moisture resistant and lightweight, which allows the user to retain excellent warmth and mobility.

IMPORTANT – FXR® jacket and pants with F.A.S.T.TM must be worn together as a suit to achieve buoyancy properties. Additionally, F.A.S.T.TM items will be rendered ineffective in adverse conditions such as strong water currents. F.A.S.T.TM equipped products are NOT COAST GUARD APPROVED.

FXR®’s Thermal Flex™ insulation is a powerful blend of polyester fiber fill that provides exceptional warmth and flexibility at any temperature. Unlike other fiber fills, which often become stiff in cold weather, our Thermal Flex™ insulation provides superior comfort, mobility and warmth season after season, wet or dry. The new Dry Vent System™ is a high performance venting system that maximizes ventilation in radial side body vents and the chest of FXR® jackets and the inner and outer thigh of FXR® pants. Seam sealed venting mesh eliminates snow ingestion in all snow conditions, including bottomless powder or wet snow. It uses the cold air entering the vents to exhaust the warm air built within the inner microclimate between your jacket/ pant and base layers. FXR®’s trademarked Dry Vent System™ is 99% more effective at controlling your core temperature and keeping you dry than any waterproof/ breathable system on the planet.

SHELL and FIXED LINING COMBINED INSULATION RATING

EXKIN® PLATINUM is the ultimate technology for increasing warmth. Exkin® Platinum® thermal technology maintains warmth, prevents heat loss and retains insulating properties even when wet. Lightweight construction does not compromise mobility by adding bulk. Added to the back and chest of FXR® products, it adds warmth to places that lose the most from being exposed to the wind.

INSULATED COMBO

If the item is a 2-in-1 or 3-in-1 (indicating it has a removable liner), both the “SHELL” and “COMBO” (combined) value of the shell and liner will be displayed.

BASE LAYER

This is the first and most important layer of clothing you put on as it is in direct contact with your skin. When riding, it is very likely that you will be sweating and cooling down numerous times and it’s important that your clothing works in a way that it can cool you down quickly but not too much.

A common problem in many outdoor activities is “after-exercise chill.” Cotton T-shirts and other common underwear capture the moisture of sweat in their fabric and after your body has already cooled down and stops sweating, the wet cotton will keep on cooling your body down. Not only is this uncomfortable, it also forces your body to increase its heat production and it increases the chances of under cooling. The base layer should not retain moisture but transport it away from the skin, thereby countering “after-exercise chill.”

BASE LAYER MATERIALS

The materials used for base layers change constantly as textile manufacturers come up with new high-tech synthetic fabrics or re-invent natural materials like wool. In general, they all have common characteristics:

• The materials absorb only a very small percentage (< 1%) of their weight in moisture. In practice, this means that they draw moisture from your skin and dry very quickly.

MID/INSULATION LAYER

The purpose of the mid or insulation layer is to retain body heat and the best way to do so is by creating a layer of still or dead air around your body. This still air will seriously decrease the heat exchange between your body and the outside world.

The mid/insulation layer mostly consists of man-made fabrics/polyesters that are treated in a way that makes the fibers stand up and trap air between the fibers. This trapped air forms a protective layer of still air forming the main insulation.

MID/INSULATION LAYER MATERIALS

Fleece is most commonly used as a mid layer. It possess the ability to retain still air which insulates and prevents body heat loss as outlined above. Besides this, the treated polyesters used have almost the same moisturetransporting qualities as base layers and transport moisture to the outer layer and dry very quickly.

OUTER SHELL

The third and final layer in the three-layer system is the outer shell which is the only layer with direct contact to the outside world. The outer shell serves four main purposes:

• Protection from wind and outside moisture like rain and snow

• Getting rid of body moisture

• Insulation to keep you warm

• Protection from chafing, cuts, scrapes and other outside damage

OUTER SHELL MATERIALS

Over the years, many textiles have been developed to be waterproof, water-resistant and/or breathable. Waterproof/breathable fabrics resist water droplets from passing through while at the same time allowing water vapor through and giving them the ability to block out rain and snow while allowing vapor from sweat to evaporate. The textile can be waterproofed by either adding a membrane or a sprayed-on coating. The coating will wear down faster over time since it is exposed to the elements whereas the membrane is fused/bonded to the inside of the outer material or is a floating membrane sewn between the outer fabric and inner liner. Standard laboratory testing protocols define the performance of these fabrics.

Water resistance/proofness is measured by the amount of water, in mm, which can be suspended above the fabric before water seeps through.

Breathability is measured by the rate at which water vapor passes through, in the units of grams of water vapor per square meter of fabric per 24-hour period (g/m2/d), often abbreviated to just “g.”

Typical mid-range fabrics tend to have values of 5000mm of water proofness/resistance and 5000g of breathability; the highest end materials boast 20,000mm and 20,000g or more.

Nowadays, the generally accepted way of getting yourself dressed for snowmobiling and outdoor activities is to use a three-layer system.

California Regulations Regarding Emission-Related Parts and Accessories

California law regulates on- and off-highway vehicle aftermarket parts that have the potential to impact emissions. California law prohibits the installation, sale, and on- and off-highway use of any emissions-related part unless the part is (1) a replacement part, (2) a modified or add-on part that has received an exemption from the California Air Resources Board (“ARB") or (3) a part installed on a vehicle used exclusively for closed-course competition (i.e., racing).

Replacement Part

A replacement part is generally any aftermarket part intended to replace an original equipment emission-related part and which is functionally identical to the original equipment part in all respects that in any way affect emissions.

Modified Part or Add-On Part

A modified part is any aftermarket part intended to replace an original equipment emissions-related part and which is not functionally identical to the original equipment part in all respects that in any way affect emissions. An add-on part is any aftermarket part which is not a modified part or a replacement part.

Closed-Course-Competition Part

A closed-course-competition part is a modified part or add-on part that has not received an exemption from the ARB. A closed-course-competition part may only be sold and installed on a vehicle that is used exclusively for closed-course competition. California dealers selling closed-course-competition parts should maintain records of the sale and/or installation, including the date of sale, purchaser name and address, vehicle information and work performed, if applicable.
