ACTIVE/PASSIVE VOICE Tip: separating Phrases. ● Separating phrases is a good strategy to organize the components in a sentence. My mother cooks nice cakes every day. Doer / subject action / verb object complement Ask: Who? What? when/ how/ why, etc

Active voice Active voice refers when we are focused on the “doer” of the action. She cooks bread every day (What it is really important is that she really cooks) The dog bites the sandals. (What is it important is that the dog is the one who bites the sandals). Examples:

Passive voice We usually use the passive voice when we are more interested in what happens to somebody or something than in who or what does the action. Ex: the letter was written by the teacher. (What it is really important is that the letter was written and we are not interested on who wrote it) Structures: Subject Active voice:
