Where can be a Sports Lynchpin at KEIO University?
Lynchpin area on the bottom of Mamushi Valley MAMUSHI VALLEY IS THE POTENTIAL SITE FOR POSITIVE IMPACTS Urban strategy
Mamushi valley area in Hiyoshi campus is chosen as the proposed site with the possibility of becoming a Lynchpin. Human circulations of sports people, students, and residents are mixed but space works as just an intersection.
Partition working as both a physical barrier and a psychological barrier, dividing space
Typological study of the partition in Mamushidani Area
Observed elements are classified according to the shape and the constitution in order to differentiate the character and the function. Mainly 9 types of partitions are categorized for analyzing these potentials and problems from the points of mobility, transformability, permeability, durability, identity, and separability.

Separated spaces
3D Design for Activities
Happening of Avalanche
Masterplanning with landscape design to root on topographies.
Artificial Constraints Presences of the partitions limit human circulations with rigid boundaries. It is hard to find the relationship between sports activities and topographical characters in Mamushi valley.
Application of Avalanche design Avalanche design is applied to root on the site with the centrality of the bottom of the valley, creating a seamless landscape in order to make the boundary ambiguous.
Functions rooting on the topography Functions of sports facilities and recreation area appear from the subtle characters of the land, which helps to produce the diversity of circulations making the transitions of activities easy.

Kenpo dojo has mainly two functions for Nihon Kenpo and Shorinji Kenpo, placed along the valley. From the running path, runners are able to go down to the valley to enter the dojo or to access the stands space thanks to the slope. At the same time, visual connections are ensured from the path to the tennis court, having the level difference working as a privacy filter.

CROSS SECION (INDOOR TENNIS COURT)
The indoor tennis court places on the other side of the valley of dojo following the existing slope. The excavation of the land helps to divide players' eyes and the audience's eyes not to make discomfort for playing. In addition, sunlight can reach through the polycarbonate wall, thus, natural light is enough to ensure the quality of light for playing inside in sunny day.
