a brief introduction

My name is Wayan Yana Pratama and yes, i’m a Balinese born and bred. I was born on November 15th 1995 in Denpasar. I currently live in Jakarta and i work for a construction company. It’s been a great life experiences for me for the past two years.

academic background

Architecture is my academic background. I’ve got my bachelor degree at Udayana University, Bali. Architecture was my ‘safe choice’ back then, because i think architecture is pretty versatile subject. There’s a thin line in architecture that divide the art aspect and the technical aspect. What i’ve learned in architecture is a Good Design is the one that can benefits the surroundings. Every little things matter. Louis Kahn is my favorite architect. In Indonesia i would say Tan Tik Lam. Minimalist architecture probably suit me the best because i really like geometric shapes, especially squares. Although it became very clear that my interest in Graphic Design getting stronger, i certainly enjoy studying architecture.

why graphic design

Graphic Design has been my interest since forever. It’s just amaze me how you can do so much by doing so little. By little i mean enough to represent the information/identity. I think the impact of graphic design nowadays has increase more than ever, esp in Indonesia with the rise of Creative Industry particularly architecture, fashion, etc. It becomes very important for integrating peoples with the environment. As for me, i just want to do my part correctly, have that impact to people and the environment through something i love and enjoy doing.

Small Budget House Architectural Campaign

Small Budget House is a architectural campaign organized by Arsitektur Tanpa Nama, one of Bali’s Architects Community. This campaign focuses on raising the awareness of the important of budgeting plan, decision making, and problem solving towards common architecture problems.

We tried to represent the brand as simple as possible, so we decided to use clean cut shape for the logo. We used basic shapes of house and try to achieve ‘that’ modern facade look with one simple window on the right side to connecting the line between the house outline. Monochrome color used so it can easily implemented.

Tribute to Louis Kahn Louis Kahn, in my opinion was one of the greatest architect that ever graced architectural fields. “A Late Modernist” is what people known him for. Kahn’s ability to combining Modernism with the dominance of Greek Architecture made him to be considered as part of the pantheon of Modernist Architects. Most of Kahn’s works has become more iconic to this day because of his distinctive style. Kahn’s archetypical forms shows weight and dominance presence heavily influence by Greek Architecture, which he studied in the 1950’s.
