Neighbourhood activity centre activation plans

GROUP WORK

I worked with my team on the three pilot neighbourhood activity centre activation plans. We worked with councils and proposed potential temporary interventions for further consideration that respond to the community, test permanent works, support the traders and create more space in response to COVID-19 recovery.

Greening the street

Pot plants and temporary landscaping to soften the street

Potential temporary interventions for further consideration that respond to the community, test permanent works, support the traders and create for more space in response to COVID-19 recovery.

Space for walking and street trading

Parklets test how we use space for people, rather than cars, gives more land for trading and dining on the street, and provides opportunity for landscaping and art.

Traffic calming

Engage an artist or the community to paint the road, creating a vibrant sense of arrival and traffic calming treatment.

Pop-up parks

A new space for gathering, temporary events, play and dining (such as food trucks or other events), helping to enhance the area as a destination.

Encouraging cycling

Bike parking throughout the centre and repair facilities.

Prioritising walking

The longer term strategic opportunities identify potential interventions that are based on community priorities, raised during community consultation in the pilot project. Below is an artist impression illustrating how the centre could look if these opportunities are implemented.

20 minute neighbourhoods before and after visualisation

GROUP WORK

WORK PROJECT, 20 MINUTE NEIGHBOURGHHOODS,DELWP MELBOURNE 2022

I was leading this 20 minute neighbourhoods before and after visualisation work. Collaborating with an external 3d visualisation consultant, We applied the 20 minute neighbourhood concept on 2 typical neighbourhood centre typologies in Melbourne's middle suburb.

In this project, I led the detail design work and used a lot of hand drawing to communicate my design with the consultant.

WATER CORRIDOR

ABPL90273

URBAN DESIGN STUDIO B UNDER THE PAVEMENT, THE BEACH MELBOURNE 2019

Water Corridor is a water sensitive design strategy that is concerned about costal cities and the loss of the beach due to the impact of climate change and the consequences of melting glaciers and land based sea caps. The design attempts to explore and tackle such issues of sea level rise, storm surges and water run o management.

The design strategy analyses and evaluates existing conditions and responds to these by exploring land morphologies in order to develop a tactical approach to shaping a more resilient costal community.
