City Of The Dead I speculate that the future society will possess prominent science and technology productive forces, and the architecture may evolve into various machines. Human life will be controlled by the intelligent and digitized technology. The happiness that should derive from “life” is replaced by the pleasure that brought by “digital entertainment of commodities”. People enjoy themselves in such a vacuous and bromidic world rather than being afraid. Their needs will be satisfied by the supply of buildings in this society accompanied with their loss of self-reflection ability. In Guy Debord’s words, the risk of being bored to death is a trade-off for a world that won’t starve to death. These are my predictions of urban architecture under the background of digital age and my reflections on human life style in the future.

People’s reliance on the Internet and artificial intelligence is gradually making them lose their self. 1 Everyone has a QR code on their head. 2 Virtual-reality movies get ready for the VR revolution 3 People’s head is locked in a box. 4 Graffiti on the streets, the human brain is 7 connected to data wires and charging 5 A wide variety of electronic products 6 A man lying in a cradle of data lines 7 The human brain is filled with chips. 8 8 The computer replaced the human brain. ”Industrial Society and Its Future“ - Theodore Kaczynski The paper wrote: “What we do suggest is that the human race might easily permit itself to drift into a position of such dependence on the machines that it would have no practical choice but to accept all of the machines decisions. “ The industrial revolution and its outcome have brought disaster to mankind. Although the life expectancy of us, who live in “developed” countries has been greatly extended, this fact has undermined the stability of society, emptied the sense of achievement in life, humiliated humanity, caused widespread mental suffering (in the third world, physical suffering) and immense damage to nature. Continued technological progress will only aggravate the situation and will inevitably lead to greater humiliation for humanity, greater damage of nature and greater social fragmentation.

Theodore Kaczynski asserts that in the industrialized era, humans are controlled either directly by highly intelligent machines or by a few elites behind them. If the former is the case, it means that human created their own bane; If the latter is the case, it means that the terminal of the industrialized society is in the hands of a few elites. He believes that technology will bring immense disaster to mankind. He wished that mankind can abandon technology and get close to nature.

Space Formed by Body Language

The project focuses on the space formed body language. I use elastic cloth to wrap the hands and limbs of the human body so that the they can move under the cloth. Elastic cloth as a medium, can better show the space formed by body language. Through recording the movement path of human hands and limbs, we find the possibility of them forming the spaces. In the study of solidified materials, I found that isomalt is the most suitable material for solidifying body language formed space. When heated at high temperatures, it becomes a viscous fluid. Then I poured it over a fixed posture, it quickly cools and solidifies the formed space. The solidified space model can be used as a building or as an indoor installation.

STEP 1: Pour the isomalt into the pan. STEP 2: add water and stir. STEP 3: heat to 180 degrees. The isomalt becomes a viscous liquid. STEP 4: add pigment (because isomalt is transparent, this is to make the model look clearer). when the liquid cools to about 100 degrees, pour it on the ice (ice can be a substrate speeding up the cooling of isomalt), small pieces of ice creates high space density. Each piece of space is small, and the ice blocks is resized, large pieces of ice can create a lot of space.

the short-living building The project about salt brick is related to the environment. It aims to redefine the relationship between human and nature by recording the changing process of time to the spatial structure of buildings by salt bricks. As a natural material from the earth, it is for some nomadic people in arid inland areas. It is a kind of material that can be completely decomposed by the natural environment. In the experimentation, I have extensively studied the characteristic that salt bricks can record time. For example, under different heat and humidity conditions, it turns into different forms. I also carefully classified the buildings on how they form self-functional spatial patterns based on local climate changes such as wind direction, light and rain. However, this is only a short-lived building, which will eventually be eroded by the local sand and rain. In this way, all the construction materials return to nature, thus achieving the integration of human and nature.

Reference “An. Peace / Earth Garden” “Flight of the Fly”

Inspired by this reference, bricks are not limited to square arrangement, they can also have different shapes.

In northwestern China, nomadic pastoralists in northern Xinjiang, who travel between grasslands and deserts without a permanent home, drive livestock, travel long distances and migrate with their families throughout the year in response to changes in pasture. Because of the particularity of nomads’ living, they cannot live in a fixed place for a long time. As salt bricks will gradually erode with the desert weathering and then blend into the nature, it can be used as nomads’ building materials.

Study on the Arrangement of Bricks Try to arrange the bricks in different angles and in different directions, and find out the unique logical order of the bricks .

Break the convention and study how to make curved surface with brick

Dunes are small hill or ridges built up by wind. The direction of the bricks is determined by the direction of the dunes, so that they can be weathered quickly after the nomads have gone.

Based on the above research on brick arrangement . Using Rhino - grasshopper parametric modeling to construct a brick wall, and the density of the brick wall varies with the parameters. There are 16 adjustable parameters in this group. Each parameter determines the density, volume and size of the bricks respectively .

The pattern or “totem” chosen for this design was a turtle shell and how a series of Hexagons could be stretched and altered to form a usable space.

The site is located in Kingscliff, northern New South Wales and sits along the coast within the caldera of an ancient volcano, with Mount Warning (Wollumbin) sitting at its core.

A main road travels through the centre of the site, dividing it into eastern and western halves and provides the division that will be between the cultural centre side and the glamping resort side of the development. The site is Lot 490 (or Lot 1 and Lot 2 DP1117599), located on the south-east side of Cudgen Creek on the south side of Kingscliff and is in the territory of the Minjungbal people of the Bundjalung language. It will be developed in collaboration with the Tweed Byron Land Council and the local Indigenous community. The project proposes the design of a cultural centre on the Western half of the site and a ‘glamping’ resort on the east. A limitation is the proposed budget for the project. The site, Lot 490 is sandy and is covered with a mix of native and weed vegetation.

accomodation office room

My design concept is humble construction, because human is actually small in the nature, so we should humbly contact with nature, all the buildings in the project are in line with the contour, which is the most economical budget, as well as the safest and most efficient way to build.

‘ GLAMPING ’

There is a skylight on the roof of the house, allowing sunlight to enter, providing natural light to the room. The material of the house is wood and glass. Glass is used as a material to make the field of view more open inside the house.

‘ CULTURAL CENTER ’

The first floor of the Cultural Center is a library and reading lounge area, and the second floor is a cultural exhibition area.In the middle of the building is a countyard where sunlight can shine in. The tables and chairs in the courtyard are made up of multiple circles. On the top of the table and chairs, there are circular shutters. Above the shutters are plants. With the sunlight, and the rain, the plants can grow. In the middle is a large (waterproof) screen that can play cultural videos.

‘ CAFE SHOP ’

The café is placed by the river and has an outdoor area where you can eat, drink coffee and see the scenery. The stairs next to the coffee can allow about 20-40 people. If there is any performance, it can also be a small amphitheater. In usual, the stairs can be a place where people can rest. At the highest point of the stairs, beautiful scenery can be seen.

Green Urban Connector

Working model

The above are the four working models, which are the source of the design concept.

Primary model The main purpose of this project is to facilitate the passage of people on both sides of the river, but this is not just a bridge, it is also a place to stop and rest in the city and exchange activities with people. This project had the intention of revitalising the city streets and riverfront pre- cincts on the Brisbane River, creating a Green Urban Connector, linking Kangaroo Point and the Brisbane CBD. 図用

S=1/100

My proposal of the design concentrated on the concept of direct and indirect pathways interweaving to create nodes for facilities. Following this design idea, the result created areas for public use and enhanced the design philosophy of creating destinations.Learning outcomes from this project included developing an architectural design for a complex structure that con- siders both conceptual and functional requirements in relation to the users of the space and existing environment.

Final model

The bridge is mainly composed of five function area and a main road, which have difference functions. They are amphitheatres, public squares, cafes, outdoor viewing platforms and small marina. The only threat to the area is flooding, so the five function areas are floating on the water, rising and falling as the river goes up and down. The following scenes are the public square, the main road of the bridge and the amphitheatre.
