Eco-intelligence City is located on the West side of Hainan Island, on the banks of the Meilun River in Yingbin Peninsula, China. North side of the project is Tencent Eco Village, and on the West side is the Museum of Internet. Our plot is for mixed use retail and office with a site area of 50012 sqm.

For inspirations of Eco, we look up to the infamous Wushi Mountains in Hainan, as the representation of the green heart of Hainan Island; and for Intelligence, we represent digital technology with pixels, which become the basic units of the entire project.

Our vision is to create the iconic heart of the Eco-Intelligence City which will be fully integrated with the existing surrounding including the landmark museum and lake. Different parts of the development will be stitched with extensive public spaces. The 5 office towers will be the anchor and gateway to the Eco-Intellence City with proximity of an exticing shopping and dining environment. The development will be a synthesis of nature, culture and technology.

The City of Dreams Mediterranean will be the first major Integrated Resort in Cyprus, Europe. Atkins was appointed by Melco for one-stop-shop services including architecture, landscapec design; structural, mechanical and electrical engineering; interior design and sustainability design. Located in Limassol, Cyprus, our team looked up to the culture, architecture and landscape of Cyprus and the Mediterranean for inspirations. From the characters of the traditional streets, scale and materials of the local hillside villages, to the local colour palette of the limestone walls and the cool blues of doors and shutters, these all inspired the design of the project. The resort will present gaming areas consisting of 136 tables and 1,200 gaming machines, a five-star hotel with 500 hotel rooms with sea, mountain or dry lake views. It will also host 11 Food & Beverage outlets, a wellness and sports centre, extensive indoor and outdoor pool areas, a high-end retail space and stateof-the-art convention facilities.

The project is located in the center of Shenzhen Bay Plaza, West of Shenzhen Talent Park, with a view of Shenzhen Bay. Our vision is to create an unique green campus to attract unique talent; a campus environment that inspires, unlifts and creates connections. The campus includes offices, laboratories, hotel, and a convention center. In order to create an innovative and non-conventional space for these programs, we come up with this form which is inspired by green velleys in the nature. The main programs are embedded in the “hills” while the valley becomes the campus plaza, which slopes up from the street level. All “hills” are interconnected on the lower levels for programs such as laboratories, shared offices, convention pre-function and hotel lobbies.

Inspired by SANAA’s project - de Kunstlinie, a theatre and arts center located in Almere, Netherlands, the floor plans of Tanzakademie are created with a basic unit - 35’ x 35’ (minimum dance studio area requirement). This basic unit is then repeated and shifted to create 3 bars which are spaces for public, semi-public and private. The shifting gesture is inspired by a musical piece - clapping music from Fase Four Movements to the Music of Steve Reich, choreographed by performance artist Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.

Shifting of volumes is done to provide either view, sunlight or shading. the connecting volume in the middle takes on a more organic or “blob” form as if it was a creature inhabiting in between the other two masses. the same triangular panels also exist at the entrance to create a massed and grand entry for the visitors. Then the same patterns form the central sculptural staircase and lead the visitors from the main entrance to the public theater where the interior shell shares the same materiality and form.

The lower levels of the public bar consist of the lobby, bar and a public theater. The middle / semi-public bar acts as a circulation core / connection between the other two bars, and consists of service programs such as dressing rooms for both performers and students, a green room and a lounge for students. The private bar consists of educational programs for students, such as shops and dance studios.

The performing sector has a west facing elevation, but since the intention is to make it appear as a glass box, double facade with operable louvres is in place. The educational sector requires sunlight but also privacy. therefore, metal mesh is installed to act as a privacy screen while still allowing natural light into the dance studios.
