Poveglia comes across as a green oasis in the middle of the Venetian Lagoon for the visitor, who is not likely to encounter any other significant green spaces into the historical island complex. This fully natural first image of the island and the special conditions of isolation that its nature bares, inevitably lead to this Persian Garden, well hidden amongst all those islands of the lagoon. Space on Poveglia is organized with three gardens, each one characterized by the public function it houses. So, from south to north, there is the Garden of Library, the Garden of Agora and the Garden of Baths, each one offering quite a different experience in terms of relating with nature and contact with the rest of the visitors.
