Basically, after the DETESTATION tour in Fall of '98, everyone except me and the si[gei wef,t home lo Portlrnd. Meanwhile, back in Portlan( Dom and Brian were getting tired of waiting for us to come home, so they sta(ed a project band with Kevin and Alex from the band AKOM and called it WAR MACHINE. When I finally arrived home, after 10 months oftravelling, Alex, the bassist, had just quit. This combined with all of us being in agre€ment as to how we felt about not doing DETESTATION or working with our old singer, gave us the perfect opportunity to move on as fiiends and work together, without hurting anyone's feelings by using the name DETESTATION. I plan to continue the labet, but I've realll cut back My latest release was the WAR MACHINE ep, and at pres€nt I have no plans to release anylhing else Maybe something will como up, though... you can't kil this thing that easily!

At firsl I onty *'anted to release records b1' mv oun ball,I. trecause most of the tinrc rle would get fucked by the label, or else the label wouldn't put any interest ir distributron or advertising meaning I'd get a PO box ofletters saying "I can't find your records an1'*here ..''. So I said frrck it. I'll do it my orvn label. As time went on, I started releasing records for m1 friends' bands, and for bands that I thought were cool and desened to have a record put out for them. I h:r'e never cared in the slightest about how many -name .,- I never bothered to ask established bands i1 records a band would sell, or ifthe band was a big they wailted to do records on my label, preferring to rrork *,ith bands that I thought were as good, ifnot better, than the well knorvn bands but had just never had the chance to put out a record. The most important element for me in picking a band was ho\\, I felt about a band as people, and I've never put out a record for a band solell'on the basis ofa demo received in tlre mail. All ofthe bands that I've released records for I've knovm at least one member of bcfore I agred to work with them. Sometimes I hed a long and cool fi-iendship with, as in the cases of BLACII KRONSTADT or Atr{NESTY, and some were just loctit drinking pals, like OBLITERATED or DECREPIT. But, the bottom line is, I believe whether it's with my band working with another label, or with another band rvorking to release a record on my label tat it's very important to have some kind of relationship between the band and the label. None ofthis impersonal production is punk, this is our lives, this is our soul.

9. WHAT PLANS HA\T YOU GOT FOR THE FUTL'RE? It's hard to say wbat will happen in the future. In August I'll be moving to Germany for a'w{rile, who knows how long. what this means as far as wAR MACHINE, I don't know... I guess we'll keep going, either with me on bass, or with someone else. We're atl pretty busy with other shit right now... Kevin lives in Seattle, and Brian is talking about spending time in Europe as well. Personally, for me the band has to take a back seat to other, more important parts ofmy life, and I'm kind of in a travelling, soul searching period right now. Yeah, sounds com,v, but I'm still tryingto figure out who I am and what the fuck l'm doing... I guess right nou l'm concentraiing on the upcoming US tour for WOLFPACK that I've organised, and on the A)flOM (my other band) LP that witl .be recorded right before I leave. Here was the chance to see the band that had unleashed the punk movement to the world. J: I was just chilling out at KISMET HC practiceVgigs when Fluffleft and,Zanne took over lead vocals. Itjust seemed like a logical thing to do. And her voice (along with Dave's) is very effective for the current KISMET HC

3 . WITH SO MANY DIFFERENT GENRES CAN YOU SEE ANY CHANCE OF PT]NK TINITY? D: I like the amount ofdifierent styles ofpunk that you can find today. The problem is there is not too much crossover going on. I mean the people *ho like pop punk tend to like that style and no other, this I am afiaid kills any chance ofunity.
