Project Title: A CRUISE SHIP MEDIA OFFICE Project Total Square Footage: 10,045 SF Cost per Square Foot: $100/SF Construction Cost: $1,000,000 Location: 8400 N.W. 36th Street Suite #520 Doral, Florida 33166 Project Type: Corporate Interiors
PROJECT DESCRIPTION The client is an integrated media company specializing in the global travel and cruise ship industry. The client has vacated its Miami Beach offices near the Lincoln Road mall to move adjacent to their sister company. The design concept was conceived from the notion of bringing the vibrant Lincoln Road promenade to the suburban development of Doral. This office is a 10,000 SF interior fit-out in class A office building in Doral Florida. The newly renovated suite on the 5th floor is connected to the larger sister company suite via internal double doors. The new office does differ greatly from the more formal sister company suite. The office plan is an open-office layout with low panel work stations along windows with enclosed offices toward the building core. The space plan is an open-office arrangement except for few glasspartitioned offices and a conference room off the employee lounge. This conference room houses an unconventional reclaimed steel sewing machine conference table with wood top. The reception area takes cues from the ocean liner interiors of 1930’s. The round upholstered reception area banquette with the center planter references the grand interiors of S. S. Normandie. The floating slatted wood ceiling is inspired by ship hull construction. All existing ceiling plenum equipment and mechanical systems are exposed; the existing concrete floor is polished for economy of means. The office communal living room, in combination with the reception area, create a center social hub. Suspended swing pod chairs and the long banquettes with tropical fabrics by the perimeter windows add an air of unconventionality and provide work place setting options to this office of creatives.
