The Nutcracker has long been one of the most delightful ways to discover the enchantment of ballet and makes for a sparkling festive treat for the whole family. Tchaikovsky’s much-loved music is matched to a story of magic on Christmas Eve, and the journey of Clara and her Nutcracker to the Land of Sweets brings with it some of the most familiar of all ballet moments. Peter Wright’s gorgeous production for The Royal Ballet keeps true to the spirit of this Russian ballet classic, and the many solo roles and ensembles show the world-class skills of the Company at its best.

TYLER BUTTERWORTH PRESENTS
A BIT OF A CARRY ON
Into the romantic world of an idealistic painter Cavaradossi and his sensuous lover Tosca comes the malevolence of Baron Scarpia, Chief of Police, with fatal results. Elena Stikina, Bryan Hymel and Alexey Markov bring to life one of the best loved operas in The Royal Opera repertory: Puccini’s Tosca. From the demonic chords with which it famously begins to the violent twist of the opera’s shock ending, the tension never lets up for a moment. Love and evil come –thrillingly –face to face in Jonathan Kent’s intense production.
This international sensation has been produced in 37 countries worldwide. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature, the original Broadway production ran for over thirteen years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

TICKETS £16 PRINCESS ALEXANDRA AUDITORIUM Darling Buds of May actor Tyler Butterworth tells the funny, moving and unashamedly nostalgic story of his much-loved parents, the nation’s first female TV impressionist Janet Brown, and the inimitable Carry On star Peter Butterworth.
Join us to experience this “tale as old as time”, performed by pupils and students of Yarm School.
From heroic wartime escapades at POW camp Stalag Luft III, to a night at Chequers with Mrs Thatcher, A Bit of a Carry On is a warm and uplifting journey from wartime to showtime, taking us deep into the golden age of British TV & film comedy – just how did a girl from Glasgow and a lad from Manchester become the first married couple to both feature as subjects on This Is Your Life? With classic film and tv clips, rare photographs and a Q&A with Tyler, A Bit of a Carry On is your chance to really get to know two of British comedy’s brightest stars, who lived to make us laugh.

Internationally acclaimed musician, Brian Cummings, brings his brand new show celebrating the music of Jeff Lyne and Elo to the road. With a band of amazing musicians, including a female string section, this will be a fabulous night of hit after hit from such a vast back catalogue. Jeff Lynne and ELO famously carried on the legacy of the Beatles where they famously wanted to “Carry on from where I am the Walrus left off” and combined Classical music with motifs of the greats with Rock and Roll like no other musician before. The album ‘Out of the Blue’ released in 1977 catapulted them into rock history and truly made them one of the biggest bands in the world at the time. After many years of touring, Jeff parted ways with the band to focus on producing some of the greatest musicians of the time namely, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Paul McCartney and The Beatles. Jeff resurrected the ELO legacy in 2014 with a new line-up and a stunning stage show and has been touring the world arenas and stadiums to this day. Through 1957 to ‘59 one man changed the face of music and revolutionised the meaning of Rock ‘N’ Roll. That man was Buddy Holly.
When all of his friends go away, Norman Price decides to find adventure in Pontypandy and become the star of a visiting circus.
Clutching a Fender Stratocaster, sporting a pair of heavy-rimmed glasses, and sounding exactly like Buddy in his heyday, a legend is reborn.
But with a tiger on the loose and faulty lights, the adventure soon turns to danger. Can Fireman Sam come to the rescue and save the circus?
This all new production celebrates an artist who shot straight into the limelight as soon as That’ll Be The Day hit the radio. Though his career was short, this one-man powerhouse gave the world a stack of hits that will never be forgotten.
Join Sam, Penny, Elvis, Station Officer Steele and Norman in an all singing, dancing, action-packed show. You can become a fire-fighter cadet and then watch the magic of the circus. So, come along to Pontypandy and watch the adventures unfold!

With a reputation as the ultimate crowd-pleasing live band Toploader have backed the likes of Paul Weller, Robbie Williams, Noel Gallagher, Tom Jones, Simple Minds and Bon Jovi, where they became the last British band to play the original Wembley Stadium. They have also appeared at a host of major festivals including Glastonbury, V-Festival, T In The Park and Chris Evans’s CarFest.
Alongside such forgotten stories you will hear Susie’s selection of the funniest moments from her 25 years on Countdown and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, as well as some startling results from eavesdropping on a group of waiters.

Each evening will include some of Susie’s favourite words from the towns and regions she visits, and she’ll be asking the audience for theirs. In fact, she’ll be welcoming any questions about word origins, usage irritations, the dreaded impact of Americanization, and the very future of our language in her very own ‘word surgery’.
