Welcome to the YJFL's Representative Program The MDS is very important to the YJFL.
The YJFL values the development of all players, with our competition providing an opportunity for all our boys & girls to learn important lessons through the sport they love. The representative program provides a wonderful opportunity for our best players to test themselves against other League’s best players, and play with players in better teams, to enable them to build new skills. An important part of the program is the exposure to new coaches & methods, and of course friendships with other players that will hopefully last for a long time. You should be proud that you have been selected, and please accept the best wishes from all at the YJFL for the games ahead. We hope you keep playing Australian football for years to come! Tim Murray - YJFL CEO The Yarra Junior Football League has a proud history when it comes to participating in representative football. We are pleased to be a part of this year’s AFL Victoria Metro Development Series, which will give the Under 14 Boys, Under 15 Girls and Under 15 Boys the opportunity to play against other leagues and perform in a high level of football in front of talent scouts from NAB League clubs. We are also grateful to the Mornington Peninsula Junior Football League for playing a series of games in the July school holidays for our other squads. After trialling around 800 players, we selected just over 300 to take part in the Under 13 to Under 15 programs this year. I would like to thank our coaches for the work they have put in, and congratulate the players who have shown such a great attitude and level of commitment to the program. Thank you also to our partners Hairhouse and Hiredepot for their support, to all the families of players in the squad, and to our clubs who do such a great job week to week and providing the boys and girls with a place to play footy. Under 14 Girls Match
Match Preview
Our focus as coaches throughout the YMA training sessions has been encouraging the girls to highlight their football strengths individually, while also providing them with an opportunity to learn a new skill or football concept to help them continue to improve. The players eagerness to listen and apply the coaching feedback is something that we have been impressed with and will continue to help these players in their football future.

Our sides strengths will be balance of winning the contested ball and speed on the outside. We will be encouraging the girls to run, take the game on and play some fast, fun football. I was most grateful for the gratitude and enthusiasm that was shown each session, the girls were fantastic and it has been a pleasure thus far. - Head Coach, Tom Hunter Who is your biggest football influence?: Scott Pendlebury

Under 13 Boys Match
Match Preview It has been a great experience taking the lead on the YJFL Under 13 Representative team. We are lucky to have such a strong coaching group to further develop these young athletes who have been severely impacted in the past two seasons due to Covid. After assessing some very talented athletes way back in February and March it has been great to see how much growth and development has already happened. This process was not easy as some very talented players missed out so they to need to stay ready for their next opportunity. The successful boys understand how privileged they are to be selected in such an elite program at a young age and not to take this for opportunity for granted. yarrajfl.org.au
The playing group have been challenged every week to train at a high standard. We have focused on increasing their ability to make good decisions when they have the ball in their hands, improved their leading patterns. Our group of boys are full of enthusiasm and excitement with the upcoming internal game and the opportunity to showcase their skills against Mornington Peninsula over the school holidays. I am sure as an onlooker in the next few weeks some of these kids will blow your mind how good they are for their age! - Head Coach Aaron Johnson

One exercise we performed during the program was the replication of the Combine Testing that potential AFL recruits go through.
