INDEX This portfolio is a collection of works from my professional life and my graduate degree. It shows my evolution as a designer: the evolution of my conceptual design work and construction knowledge in professional life, more intense application of landscape knowledge in my internship experience and lastly the hybridization of architecture and landscape in my graduate degree. I hope to continue this path of merging and exploring of both worlds; architecture and landscape and see where it leads me.

DESCRIPTION
My master’s thesis project questions how to revive an old typology in Istanbul; the fountain. Today approximately 1400 fountains exist in the city still from the reign of Byzantine and Ottoman Empires and they are decaying because of non preservation, loss of function as well as urban sprawl. My thesis questions how to integrate these fountains into the city fabric with landscape strategies as well as how the typology itself can become a tool to create public space with water. I developed two projects, however in my portfolio is displayed the first one. The first project is located in Tophane, a pocket park near an existing fountain located close to the city center. This is an individual thesis project thus all drawings are produced by me.

TYPOLOGY Istanbul is a city defined by water with the Bosphorus. However, the city that is surrounded by water always had a water problem because it was formed not near a riverbed but by the sea.
asia
Ottoman Empire built many fountains to give water to Istanbul’s growing population. Today these fountains which used to mark the cities’ public spaces became leftover structures left to the decline of time. My thesis is centered around a specific water infrastructure typology which was born in 17th century in the Ottoman Empire’s Istanbul: THE PLAZA FOUNTAIN. The plaza fountain was born both from the demand of water resource and also western influence of aesthetic expression in the city.

Istanbul has been going through rapid urbanization in the last 30 years. It is one of the fastest urban sprawling cities with a 16 million population. The overcrowded city suffers from scarcity of public space. Another problem of the city is decreasing green space. As the city grows green infrastructure; the forests ”the lungs of the city” are destroyed. Water pollution is yet another problem that emerges with urbanization.

The project site is an historical site; a fountain in a very little park with disconnected monuments. In this site there is already an existing fountain. I devised a vocabulary of design strategies that are dealing with land, hardscape and water.

There is a large number of decaying fountains in the city in need of renovation. They are mostly in the old city spreading along bosphorus. And the public squares of the city are poorly designed mostly concrete pavements with little green space and no sustainable water management strategies. So my thesis is centered on ameliorating both conditions of THE FOUNTAIN AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH PUBLIC SPACE.
9
My proposal aims to RECLAIM THE WATERSHORE, connect the fountain with the sea and create a small city park around the fountain. For this I created a fountain plaza, a circular plaza, a main plaza in the middle and sea steps with facilities like cafés, tourist kiosks and water sports equipment rental shops. The site is a very touristic site with the surrounding monuments and museums thus this small park will create an enjoyable place to relax for both the people in Istanbul and the tourists.

I am using different water features to re-establish the relationship of city and water. A water reflection pool, a water harvesting pond, a bioswale, playful waterjets and lastly an enlarged sea boardwalk. The project ties all of the historical monuments together and re-engages the city with water once again. It connects the history to the future of Istanbul with the element of water.

New plane trees were added to define different plazas to compliment the existing plane trees. In the main plaza shaded areas are created with oak and judas trees The circular plaza is surrounded byt tilia trees and a new axis is generated with hackberry trees puncturing the water plaza. I am also adding plants for the bioswale to create recirculation of water. In the bioswale im using plants like echinae, fountain grass and irisis.

DESCRIPTION
The competition project for Uitikon Allmend is inspired by the site. The proximity to forest and the hill which hosts a bunker underneath were the starting point of the project. On top of the hill is a public swimming pool building, a school building used for crafts and various sports fields like football field, running track, hammer throw. We were asked to redesign all of the sports amenities as well as a new gymnasium and a community center with a tight budget.
that merge all of the sports activities. My role in the team was production of all landscape drawings including masterplan, siteplan and diagrams as well as providing architects with the base drawings related to landscape. All of the renders, axonometric, plans, sections were re-edited by me.
The landscape team’s concept was to reutilize the hill by a necklace like path around it scattered with playful elements and resting spaces inspired by Swiss orchards. Contrasting this winding path is the formal paths around the buildings

At the same time the natural characteristics of the park are being utilized and enhanced – The unused slope is becoming accessible by a new ribbon that surrounds the entire park and by planting the slope with various fruit trees. We are (re)creating an orchard that is typical for Swiss villages.
UITIKON SPORTS HILL. PRACTICE . 2019
The landscape design is based on organizing and extending the usable space for the community park: a central spine is becoming the new backbone to which all elements are connected.
The new ribbon path hosts a range of different, calm activities: resting areas, chess playing tables, viewing points as well as connecting to the existing program of observatory, forest path and the small sitting terrace. Towards the forest the ribbon is connecting with the existing forest path, passing by new play trajectories, fitness elements, an enclosed kitchen garden and a barbecue area. sports fields

The new double gym fits carefully into the existing ensemble of indoor pool and school and subordinates itself to their orthogonality. The footprint of the above-ground volume is kept as minimal as possible. The inclusion of faรงade lines in the north and east defines new exterior spaces. The two entrances, one each from the forest and the boulevard, reflect the dual use of school and clubs. Both paths lead from an elevated level directly into the entrance hall with an OVERVIEW OF THE PLAYING FIELDS.

GYMNASIUM
The transformation of the former gym into a community center is carried out by means of the BOX-IN-BOX principle. As a result, and thanks to the outsourcing of the main hall to a replacement extension on the north side, the hall can still be perceived as such. The space between the facade and (insulated) box can be used in different ways and at the same time creates a space between climate. As a result, the subsequently installed external insulation can be removed and the hall can be restored to its original state.

PROGRAM
Organic Farming and Research Center
ACADEMIC INSTITUTION:
Politecnico di Milano
26
DESCRIPTION
The project was to create an organic farming center in a historical farm called Cascina Bugo. Cascina Bugo is in the neighbourhood of Abbiategrasso, a town in the province of Milan. The agriculture in the area of interest is highly developed, around 60% of its surface is cultivated and the farms are widely used, especially for breeding cattle. The landscape is characterized by the Ticino River and its valley.
My role was production of concept as well as photoshop collages, CAD drawings. I have re-edited the drawings to suit my portfolio.
The new project organizes the program in the old buildings based on the similar structure, with the connection of new public spaces. The landscape design is inspired by the idea of collage and the texture of the material here. The different heights and colours of multiple flora’s species, in different seasons, will enhance the landscape characterization.
27
The project was inspired by the PATCHES found in the rural landscape formed by the various fields. The concept of patch extends to activities, materials and landscape species of the new project. The patch idea allows the user to experience a heightened experience of the place.
ABBIATEGRASSO naviglio grande
MILAN
The project objective was to enhance the historical value of the cascina by keeping the historical facades and restoring them. In the insides of the buildings changes were made to enhance the programmatic functions like the research center, organic farming activity, hotel, gatekeeper’s house, shop and multi-use space.

DESCRIPTION
The project is located in Usak, Turkey and it is currently under construction. The building was shaped to take advantage of the whole site and the views to Ataturk Avenue and the park across the street. The concept was based on having continuous terraces all around the building to maximize the outdoor living. A custom aluminum profile was designed to surround the terraces to show the slabs thinner. My role in the team was project management and construction drawing. All of the CAD drawings are done by me as well as client meetings and meetings with engineers.

DESCRIPTION
The project is a retail store on Bagdat Avenue, Istanbul. The site is a prime location in Bagdat Avenue, surrounded by popular retail stores and restaurants. It is a corner location responding to both Bagdat Avenue and Serafettin Street. The vehicular route emphasizes the intersection corner of the site which is explored in the design process. The client asked for a design that allows for a single brand occupying the building or two.
area. Whereas the second design has a rhombus form that takes advantage of the site. My role in the team was assistant designer and production of all CAD drawings, illustrator drawings, diagrams. I re-edited renders to suit my portfolio.
The design process was very much influenced by the importance of the corner. Two alternatives were produced; one that removes the corner to increase circulation and one that exaggerates the corner to bring more attention. First design has an organic language. Two elliptical volumes intersect to create an inner garden, circulation and restaurant

On the facade a linear pattern is used to bring the building to life, enhancing the vibrant nature of Bagdat Avenue. The building is mostly solid as the retail stores often need controlled light instead of direct light. The building operates from the corner as the form is cut in the corner to bring people in. Also in this scenario the plaza is cut to bring people down to the basement floors directly from the street.

The project is a mixed use development in Kosuyolu, Istanbul. The site is a prime location near an adjacent highway that has been being developed with high rise projects. Our design in this sense was aimed at breaking up the volumes to blend in to surrounding volumes and the urban fabric. The ground floors are shopping areas with smaller volumes on top as offices. Lower floors are dedicated to storage and parking spaces. The tower is solely residential. My role in the team was assistant designer and production of all CAD drawings, illustrator drawings, diagrams. I re-edited renders to suit my portfolio.
