“SHIPLVAS residence is designed for a sculptor Dewangbhai Vyas and his family. As Dewangbhai is sculptor by profession, he wanted his residence to reflect his own image and his profession. As there are only four members in the family, they wanted a very flexible way of living and Dewangbhai also wanted a joined studio place where he could carry ca on his profession. The challenge that made the design was light and ventilation and easy way access in both Residence and Studio. Another challenge was that whole Idea should revolve around central courtyard for both residence and studio.

-The city of Ahmedabad has remained and retained since the freedom fight during British era. The city has carried its own historical values since the time of Ahmed Shah. Ahmedabad has always remained the main textile hub since British era, it was recognised as manchester of India. Being the capital of Gujarat it reflects re the culture and tradition of Gujarat. -The site is located on the banks of Sabarmati river and can be approached by the ashram road. The site is a mixture of a commercial, residential and an institutional buildings. The site is surrounded by Sabarmati ashram, Dandi bridge, River front park, Low income housing, Khadi production, Kamal L Khush, etc.. -Being and forgotten textile hub, its time to revive its importance in means of our future we have planned to re-enhance the activities of handicraft products.
