In addition to the four words given, I chose to include ‘complexity’ - a semantic term that holds a vast amount of visual strength. It can be interpreted in multiple ways, perhaps connoting confusion, misjudgment, emotions, depth, over-layering etc
Self portrait: instead of sticking with the conventional, ‘realistic’ self portrait, I began to play with the idea of fluidity and line. After drawing various self portraits (attach) I styled on a one line, minimalist line drawing of myself from a frontal angle. With this I brainstormed a few rigid square experiments, alongside pastel colour. Which reflect quite simply my mood at the time.
