ARCHITECTURE PORTFOLIO YATRI DANGI
I am an undergraduate student from Institute of Architecture and Planning Nirma
University. I am looking for a place to develop my passion for architecture by exploring new concepts and ideologies and application of my knowledge to the practical field. I am very much fascinated by human and space interface and how spacial interaction can be brought through architecture. This opportunity could be a step towards the understanding of the same.
This portfolio is a composition of my work over six semester of architecture. It re-
flects my concepts, thought process and journey of development of ideas to a meaningful content.

Playfulness Children inviting space
Collage: Showing knowledge center as a learning center where knowledge is a playful way of exploring a child inside you.
“Play is ever present in mankind but the most playful is child’s mind.” Addressing these words as a meaning of playfulness, the concept of ‘House of Knowledge’ started with the aim of creating a space to learn which is playful for each user group. As the major part of the site is surrounded by school children, the Focus here is to create a children inviting space for creating an environment to inspire debates, discussions and exchange of ideas in any form.

Building Arrangement
From DIAGRAM to SCHEMETIC and VOLUME to SPACE Here, Achieving Playfulness with lit and built space is being addressed by alternative arrangement of built and open spaces. Which are ‘light’ blocks and ‘built’ blocks. Giving an opportunity to brake the larger space and to achieve a smaller interactive spaces. By composition of blocks and further by breaking it in certain manner functional spaces are achieved. Diagram

These are the construction drawings which gave an opportunity to improve the design in a detailed manner. Here the drawings are transferred into construction documents with considering brick and RCC as the structural material. While transferring earlier plans into SECTION1 2 DETAIL the General Arrangement Drawings some kind of changes also needed to be done for 5 5 convenience of services at public level, maintenance of the services, for proper access of service ducts, Drainage purpose, for water supply for toilet etc. And also, a part of the building is at the basement level, so removal of rain water was also taken care.

The studio was based in the context of Pondicherry, India. The objective of the studio was to provide housing for people of different community as well as different income group. In the context of Pondicherry the essence of the street was something that one wish to incorporate for their own neighbourhood. In this design the essence of these streets are being continued by providing housing such that it is more alive on streets. That liveliness is achieved here by breaking the monotony of the streets and providing verity of activities along the streets, such that ‘way to home’ is not just a path but an experiential journey.

Pondicherry, India December, 2017 As Pondicherry is having one of the oldest colonial architecture, it offers an opportunity of learning through studying and analysing it’s architecture. It is having a mix typology of both French houses and traditional Tamil houses present in the settlement. The documentation of a typical Tamil house was carried out. The documentation was in a form of photograph and measured drawings. This study helped in analysing the contextual response of the site.

This section includes the work done along with design studio projects. This includes Building construction technology, Architectural Graphic Skills and basic design work. It includes various ways of design process like designing with origami and computer generated design (evolutionary computation design). This also includes my personal pursuits which are sketches, abstract work and photography.

ORIGAMI AND DESIGN Pavilion; A Place to Play
THE PAVILLION Transformation of a negative space into a playful corner
The origami exercise was introduced right before the institutional project as a base to understand form and space. It includes the understanding of the process of achieving the functional space from conceptual thoughts. The pavilion is placed besides the compound wall of the campus. The pavilion is used as a transition space at the corner where two playgrounds meet. Here, the small pavilion is catering to the students of primary school, where the function is achieved by turning a dirty negative corner into a playful and joyful intermediate space.
