The project starts from the question about female landscape designers’ view towards the relation between nature and urban space. As I continued to research, the design principles came out. With an emphasis on equality and sense of security for people, As a result, my design will go under those principles. The park is located in the dense-urban area, vacant space behind Southern California Institute of Architecture. This place is ideal location for an ecological system around Art District in Los Angeles. The park can be the missing step stone in ecological habitat between downtown area and the area across the LA River. Balance and equality are the main principles for park design. The park is divided into two parts, one is an activity area, and another is habitat area. In the activity area, even though it’s mainly open and for people’s activity, it still keeps the place where people can stay by themselves. In a word, it’s a space with different options for people. Also, the activity space is fully capable for Sci-Arc Students’ activities. In the habitat area, topography are designed specially to capture and reserve rainwater and drainage water from the surrounding building and blocks. So that the habitat area has enough water resource for plants and animals, or recharge the underground water.

Bus Station Redesign Project proposed dynamic and iconic structure with specific strategies of five different bus stations along the Vermont Corridor. Since Vermont Corridor has very busy public traffic, this proposal will improve environment along Vermont Corridor. As well as the iconic design will memorize the Riots happened around there before. Organized as a catalog of standardized parts, each station is assembled individually to respond to different conditions. Key elements are customized to reflect the specific character of Vermont Corridor’s different communities.

Public traffic various from different time to different location. This study research the amounts of people get on and off the bus in different time of a day. From this diagram, it could be concluded that there are five bus stations, which are most crowded and also could represent each area along Vermont Corridor most. These five stations are Olympic Blvd, Exposition Blvd, Vernon Ave, Slauson Ave and Manchester Ave.

HAND DRAWING PLAN Mc Cathy Quad Redesign [Individual Work] 2012.8-2012.12 SITE: Mc Cathy Quad, USC, Los Angeles, CA TUTOR:Douglas Campbell This is the first semester studio project. The current design of Mc Cathy Quad may be fi ne from the perspective of practical function but ignores its important role as a landmark of this campus. It is a pity that this Quad is just a boring space for gathering but not an impressive and interesting space as an identity of USC. When Mc Cathy Quad is seprated from other parts of this campus as an individual quad, no one could recognize it as a part belonging to USC. So I intend to make Mc Cathy Quad more distinguishing as an identity of USC by adding some interesting elements to the design. At the same time, the practical function of the quad will be kept for great events or ceremonies
