The start of another year is invariably filled with mixed emotions - excitement, apprehension and even sometimes sadness, depending on life stages and life events. However, the human heart finds hope in new beginnings, with New Year resolutions, goals & plans. I hope 2015 is all you want it to be! During the holidays I stumbled on this, quite profound, quote by Bruce Lee, who apparently was a poet as well as a martial arts expert. In light of Valentine’s Day I thought I would share this with our readers....

Babies, Children & Chiropractic Care..
M
any people ask, "why should a child see a Chiropractor?" The simple answer is, because of life! From the birth process, to learning to sit, crawl, walk and run, infants experience a multitude of traumas, bumps, falls and ‘minor’ injuries. The human body can only take so much and will continue to compensate and adapt, until it can no longer… And then symptoms appear. The human body is an incredible machine that is able to adapt to its environment and compensate for comfort and function. This is where a Chiropractor comes into the picture as they look at 'minor' slightly different to other health practitioners. In saying that, Chiropractors' examine and look beyond the surface or the symptoms. Chiropractors' locate and correct spinal dysfunctions (commonly referred to as subluxations). From a Chiropractic perspective, subluxations are functional misalignments of the spine, pelvis or cranial/ skull joints that if not corrected may cause the nervous system (our body’s master controller) to not function at 100%. As for our beautiful babies, the birth process can cause great stress to their nervous system, spine and cranial system. Birth interventions such as manual force (used in a c‐section and assisted vaginal deliveries), back birthing, forceps and vacuum suction can and do cause trauma to the musculoskeletal system. If left uncorrected, it is common for Chiropractors’ to see unsettled babies with complaints such as; neck pain, colic & unexplained crying (<12 weeks of age only), wind, sleep trouble, abnormal neck movement (dislike of 'tummy 14
by Dr Orly Zuker time', an important developmental exercise), breastfeeding difficulty (side preference) and digestive complaints. These are good indicators for considering a Chiropractic check‐up.
Colic, Crying and Disturbed Sleep Chiropractors frequently find that infantile colic can be associated with spinal and nervous system dysfunction (specifically of the upper neck). Babies respond quickly, and the good news is that Chiropractic is known for its fast results with complaints such as colic, and with a focus on prevention, gentle care and natural a p p r o a c h, Chiropractic care might just be the answer to your baby’s troubles. To correct spinal dysfunction (subluxation) there are a variety of adjusting techniques, a natural approach that Chiropractors use.
